  2. So once they were good, now they are bad What is the article getting at? Maybe the writer wants to dig at the current SP lot but doesnt want to upset the others who are part of SP. Sorry but you can please everyone. Maybe if the writer wasnt so proud about being an Ex-member then SP could have continued in the old days of glory. Honour, Muslims, Bhangra, wow this is really a Punjabi Magazine. Even better there's no Gurmat Vichaar, this is pure Punjabi!!!
  3. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh THE JEEVANI OF SHAHEED BHAI SATWANT SINGH JI Assassin of Indira Gandhi (Translated from Jujarhoo Yoodhea By Maninder Singh Baja) When we grew up we have often seen pictures of Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh Agwaan, Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh Malowan and Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh Mustafabad. These were the Jujarhroo Babbar Sher (Freedom Fighting Mighty Lions) who kept the integrity, pride and Khalsa tradition in our History. History dictates that whoever looked at Amritsar, with an evil eye to destroy it, such as Massa Rangar, Ahmad Shah Abdali, General Dyer and Indira Gandhi, they themselves are destroyed. Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh was born in 1962 in the house of Sardar Tarlok Singh and Sardarni Pyaar Kaur, in the village Agwaan Kurd, district Gurdaspur. Village Agwaan Kurd is only 3km from the India – Pakistan border. Bhai Sahib had 2 elder brothers, Gurnam Singh and Waryam Singh, and a younger brother and sister, Swaran Singh and Ranjit Kaur. Bhai Sahib was educated to a higher secondary level at Dera Baba Nanak School. In 1981, Bhai Satwant Singh moved from Burail jail in Uttar Pradesh to a new posting with the Delhi Armed Police. He was a very handsome young man, and an excellent sharp shooter. As a result he was later posted to the personal protection force of the Prime Minister. From the period of 1981 to 1984, he was the personal bodyguard of Indira Gandhi. In 1983, Sarabjit Kaur, the wife of his elder brother Waryam Singh, asked her Massi (maternal aunt) for the hand in marriage of her daughter, Surinder kaur, for Satwant Singh. Soon both of them were engaged. Both families had scheduled the wedding in 1984, but due to the fact that Satwant Singh could not get holidays, it was delayed. JUNE 1984 In June 1984, the Sikh Nation witnessed the power-drunk Brahmin Indira Gandhi send the Indian Army, on the sacred day of the Shaheedi-purb of Sahib Siri Guru Arjan Dev ji, to attack Siri Darbar Sahib, Siri Akal Takht Sahib, and 40 more historical Gurdwaras. They used many battalions of Army and tanks, and attacked the thousands of innocent pilgrims who came to pay respects of the Shaheedi of Guru ji, and many, many Sikh Sangat, Singhs, Singhnian, children and elders became Shaheed. Siri Akal Thakht Sahib was desecrated by tanks. This army action by Indira Gandhi burned in the heart of every Sikh. It was like a great challenge had been placed before the Sikh Nation. The Sikh Nation was extremely angry at the action. As well as the genocide, Siri Harmandar Sahib had been dishonoured, Siri Akal Thakht Sahib had been desecrated. The times of Massa Rangar had returned, and the Sikh Nation required a Bhai Sukha Singh and Bhai Mehtab Singh. Sikhs say Waheguru sent Sukha Singh and Mehtab Singh to take care of Massa Rangar. TWO LIONS AWAKEN Bhai Beant Singh Malowan went to see some of his relatives. His uncle (Phuffer ji) was called Kehar Singh and was very knowledgable of Sikh philosophy. Beant Singh was in a state of shame, mixed with anger and depression. He asked, “Phuffer ji, will Waheguru send a Sukha Singh and Mehtab Singh to avenge this sin of desecration of Siri Darbar Sahib?” While handing him a book on Baba Jarnail Singh Bindranwale, his uncle replied, “do not greive, if you have love with Sikhi, then learn that giving your head, and taking a head for Sikhi are equal. After all, someone has to be the sons of Sukha Singh and Mehtab Singh. They took Khande de Pahul Amrit from Sahib Siri Guru Gobind Singh, and then went and took the head of Massa Rangar to stop the desecration of Siri Darbar Sahib and became legends in Sikh History. We need to remember them, and become like them.” These words from his uncle were like a spear in his heart. Now Bhai Beant Singh was looking for a companion who would sacrifice all to avenge the action on Sir Darbar Sahib. Eventually Beant Singhs eye fell on Satwant Singh, who in Indira Gandhi`s protection force with him. When he carefully approached Satwant Singh, the young Singh responded “Elder brother, for this sacred task, not only this life, but even if I have to sacrifice several lives, I would to kill a brutal murderer like Indira Gandhi!” THEY BEGIN THEIR TASK First Beant Singh and Satwant Singh wanted to see with their own eyes what Indira Gandhi had done in Punjab, and at Amritsar. The three Singhs shocked at the scene at Siri Akal Thakht Sahib, made their minds up and went to Siri Darbar Sahib and did ardas, “Oh Akaal Purkh, give us strength!” After seeing the state of Siri Darbar Sahib, both Satwant Singh and Beant Singh returned to Delhi back to their duty. On 24th October 1984, Beant Singh and Satwant Singh took Amrit at a Gurdwara in Delhi. Neither were particularly knowledgeable on Gurbani, but Operation Blue Star and the legend of Sukha Singh and Mehtab Singh were foremost in their mind. This is what led them to take the blessing of Amrit. Satwant Singh always had the late shift, and Beant Singh always had the early shift. They had to work out a way to both be on duty together. On 31st October, Satwant Singh faked a stomach bug, and swapped duties with another guard. Now they had to decide how to do the task. They decided the best time was when Indira Gandhi was doing her walkabout. On the morning of 31st October 1984 at 9am as Indira Gandhi walked from her house to her office at Safardajung Road. Bhai Beant Singh shot her 5 times with his service revolver. Bhai Satwant Singh at the same time lifted his Thompson Staingun and shot 28 bullets. Seeing Indira Gandhi fall, all of her PA`s and ministers ran for their lives. The Indo-Tibetian Border Police commandos, who also guarded the grounds would not come close. Both Singhs shouted “Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akaal!!”. The Singhs shouted, “We have done what we needed to, now you can do what you have to.” Then both placed their weapons on the floor. Only then did the other guards come and arrest them. Both Singhs were taken to a room, while they waited for a senior officer to interrogate them. While waiting the commandos started swearing at the Singhs. Not tolerating this, Bhai Satwant Singh slapped the commando, and a struggle ensued, in which Satwant singh grabbed the commandos handgun. The other commandos started shooting at the Singhs. Bhai Beant Singh died there from gunshot wounds. Bhai Satwant Singh was seriously injured. On arrival of a senior officer, Bhai Satwant Singh was taken to hospital. The officers wanted to know who else was part of the conspiracy. They did not know that these Singhs were acting alone because of the attack on Siri Darbar Sahib, Siri Akal Thakht Sahib, and the 40 Gurdwaras, the Sikh genocide of Singhs, singhnians, children and elders, and the legend of 6th June 1740, when Sukha Singh and Mehtab Singh took revenge on Massa Rangar. The Government had saved Bhai Satwant Singhs life, but intentionally did not remove one bullet which was lodged near his spine continuously causing him great pain. Despite this and other interrogation torture, Satwant Singh always maintained that there was no conspiracy, and the two were acting alone. He said, “This is our Khalsa tradition to avenge those who try to desecrate our holy places. We were happy to take this task. The Sikh Nation will be proud of us.” The Government did not accept this, and took two innocent Sikhs, Kehar Singh and Balbir Singh and framed them with the assassination case aswell. They were jailed. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh
  4. I thought the programme showed great spirit of the women fighting for their cause. To see anyone fight for a cause that is just is inspiring to watch and alot can be learnt from it. The Muslim women in the programme were challenging and trying to change things. May Waheguru bless them with Fateh!!
  5. As per the release from the Akal Takht it states that they have already made a decision on Baba Mann Singh and even after the more recent allegations they still stick by that decision. Well correct means have been explored. Even if people think the Spritual Court of Akal Takht is now weak then its time to proceed to legal courts. Its crunch time, if the allegations are valid then isnt it time to start legal proceedings? Who is holding this evidence? This issue has been going on for over 2 years. The Sangat needs more clarity on the evidence. If its a defamation campaign then is time to stop, its getting boring.
  6. The current state of affairs: I was watching Alpha ETC Punjabi Channel and they have a special offer for Guru Nanak Jayanti. Well the ad had some punjabi cartoon doing Bhangra and saying happy Guru Nanak Jayanti!! Now we celebrate Gurpurbs by doing Bhangra aswell. Why do people feel it more important to create commotion in Darbar Sahibs to congratuate friends and family for Diwali but dont even recongise Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji's prakas and show some respect? since when did these occassions become cultural?
  7. The only Gurdwara in Sunderland is Sunderland Sikh Association, Ashbrooke Hall, The Cloisters, Sunderland, County Durham. SR2 7ED tel 0191 5672939 This Gurdwara has a party hall!! Read below: http://www.panthic.org/discussion.php?id=2451 Beadbi at Liquor Shop Prevented by Sangat Posted: 2006-05-12 01:16:37 Author : dal, uk Is it me or is this not right. Recently I attended a wedding in Sunderland, I was amazed the way things unfolded. After the wedding at the Gurdwara we attended the reception (next door in a old coverted church) which at the time I thought was acceptable as it saved a lot of time. But the thing that amazed me was the fact the meat and alcohol was readily available and in the same builing on the other side of a 'locked' door (like that makes a difference) langar was being served for sangat. Also the fact that there was a sign for the Sunderland Sikh Society on the wall I felt quite offended that people were happily consuming meat and drink with a big Khanda on the wall. Check that out!! Something weird going on here............I wouldnt put it pass this Gurdwara for organising this wedding....
  8. the father of the bride was Raj Kumar. The groom's name was Gurjas
  9. I watched the recording, during the Ardas the granthi said that money has been given to the Gurdwara Building Funding. Also at the end the granthi doing kirtan "gave blessings" on behalf of the Gurdwara Parbandik!!! This beadbi has been organised by a Gurdwara. There were not enough "sevadars" so the granthis relied on some poor old tabla player who was still learning his teen taal. During ardas, the Granthis were relying on the family to do chaur sahib. If fact the mona who was doing chaur sahib was really showing respect. When the granthi came to read Hukamnama from Maharaj, the family member handed the chaur sahib with respect. The granthi took it off him and stuffed the chaur sahib under Maharaj's Manji Sahib. The Granthi doing paath really handled Maharaj with alot of disrespect. He was turning Maharaj's angs as if he was reading the newspaper. Also with the lack of "sevadars" the granthi spread the rumaalas over his thighs first in order to spread the rumala to cover Maharaj! It was a joke. The was no space to do lavan let alone for the sangat to sit! This is the fault of the Gurdwara. Besharam!
  10. Those houses with the prakash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji become Gurdwaras!! But we are so besharam that we see Guruji as a guest and that they must live by the rules and regulations of the house owners even if that means alcohol and meat are present within. We are Sikhs of the Guru, not Guru of the Guru!!!
  11. This type of topics should bring "awareness" to the guilable not paranoia !. If you dont know what you are against, how are you going to protect yourself? Just act normal but armed with knowledge. We have to be knowledgable and strong against the devious musleh. Have absolute faith in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. Waheguroo What freaks me out is that our lot have more knowledge on Islam that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji!!! Come on arm yourself with Gurbani wouldnt that be the counter arguement to someone out to convert? If our arguements are based on Gurmat and Gurbani we will never need to use abuse towards others. Create awareness in Sikhi........
  12. Why cant we just give Singhs and Singhias the confidence to take Amrit? Giving a ablakhi doubt over an Amrit Sanchaar is PAAP! Who are we to stop a Sikh entering Guruji Panth? This isnt a favourite brand of clothes or car, that we can tell people about its attributes. Nor are should we reduce Amrit to a shopping bargain where we can get the best package. This is Amrit and the only brand to be promoted is Khalsa, not a jathebandi....... Enter the brotherhood, those who doubt whether you have taken the "right kind of Amrit" are showing their backs to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
  13. Deh Siva Bar Mohe Ehey Shubh Karman tey kabhoo naa taroo. Bow to the great brotherhood created by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji
  14. Please read this thread went Sangat stopped Guruji from being taken to an off licence in Midlands http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=18450&hl=
  15. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!! Gurupyare, this is my personal opinion. You have raised the question that means you are not comfortable with the issue. Well thats Gut instinct. My benti is that if Sikhs cannot provide the correct environment for Guruji then they should do Sehaj Path at a Gurdwara. Sehaj paths are normally read over a week or so. That means that if the place is not correct then it will be a massive paap to keep Guruji their for so long. Recently there was a issue in the midlands where the Sangat stopped Maharaj's saroop from being taken to an off licence (shop that sells alcohol and cigerettes). Why because this is not the place for Maharaj's prakash. If keep sadkar of Maharaj in mind then you will receive their blessings. Really its you and your family that needs Guruji blessings not the shop. Please do the sehaj path at the Gurdwara.
  16. Rehit is Rehit. Meat and alcohol are not allowed on Gurdwara premises! Its the blatant aftermath of many wedding receptions! Even worse the besharam committee dont even want to cover up their tracks. They dont even want to clean up all the beer cans and cigerettes so that they can carry on pretending to be panthic. This is the dirtiest kind of Gurdwara exploitation you can imagine. Down with these MASSANDS!! Ring 01753 525 458 now where ever you many be!! Please sangat ji we need to rock these people. This committee is splitting on our Rehit and Sikhi!!!!
  17. Errr...whether he was invited or not Sant Partap Singh & the committee lot were happy to receive him, just look at the pictures :TH:
  18. Its time for Sikhs worldwide to stop beadbi, including Canada: http://www.tapoban.org/phorum/read.php?f=1...54&t=110854 Author: Canadian Sikh Date: 09-18-06 12:48 WAHEGURU JI KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Sadh Sangat Ji...Some of you may know about the Bear Creek Gurudwara/Banquet Hall in Surrey bC, Canada. I heard alot of rumours about it, and some said it isn't that bad, while others said it was full out beadbi. I went there and saw for myself, and i was shocked to see what i saw. When i was walking in (it was a wedding i was invited to), i saw a guy smoking in the parking lot. I went up to him and told him to put it out, and to think about what he was doing. He did so, and said sorry. Then, as i was walking in, i looked down, and saw the parking lot was full of cigarrete butts, everywhere! I also saw empty liquor/beer bottles lying around in the parking lot. So i go inside to see what this place was really about. When you walk in there is an open area. If you turn left, its the party hall, turn right, and its the Gurdwara section, where you take off shoes and cover head. The Gurudwara is upstairs, and downstairs is the party hall. THERE IS NO SEPERATION, IT'S THE SAME BUILDING. Its sort of like this...the same set up of a Gurudwara Sahib and a Langar hall...same building, one is upstairs, the other downstairs. And people eat 'Langar' in the same place where the party takes place in the evening. My question is this...Bear Creek Gurdwara has been around for a while. This beadbi has been going on for many years now, but is there anything we can do to put an end to this? Like legally. what can we do in order to shut that place down. Does the law have any right to shut this place down based on religious beliefs been violated? any advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
  19. In no way did I deny that it was Sikhs duty to look after Maharaj's saroop, this goes without saying, I agree with all the above. It would have just been nice if either yourself or KharkooSingh actually addressed the 2 points I made. KharkooSingh tried, despite your both making the typical internet warrior personal comments which I guess was just a cheap way of avoiding the point. So would it not make sense to invest in that infastructure and have that in place before we campaign to get back the Saroops the brits have??? Wouldn't that ultimately make a case, a challange, point on contention the least bit valid to the every day person outside of the Sikh community? Maybe either of you will try answer the first post and this 3rd point this time. And as for my chardikaala, I know its fustrating dealing with an attitude that you percieve to be counter productive but its been my observation that such personal unnecessary comments are from the least chardikaala people who talk about panthic issues yet know little gurbani nor hardly ever get up at A/V let alone know about the persons sharda who they are calling. Challo, guess I did something to diserve it. Create awareness is the first thing to do. Without the Sikh community feeling that the saroops in British Library are their responsibility nothing will happen. Of course I agree with your points above preservation no denying the fact that the correct environment is required ie room temp. Lets not forget that the Library with all its controls and preservation still is not the correct place for Guruji's saroops. Singh thats what you need to do aswell. Do you feel responsible for the saroops at BL? The issue brings people together and then things start to happen. Your posts feel as if you want to chuck a spanner in the works before awareness has been created. With Maharaj Kirpa we can do anything!
  20. Gurdwaras are big businesses nowadays. This is exploitation of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji's house which is to provide Maharaj Darshan and Sangat & Pangat. What next? Even Ramgarhia Slough has club nights at it's Jassa Singh Ramgarhia hall. We have so many rotten apples within our community its shocking. Time for the sleeping Sikhs to wake up.
  21. God save the Queen!!! Because Sikhs are totally useless. You reflect the standard Punjabi attitude of put people down before anything even happens. Where's your chardi kala! Dont forgrt the British Library has 17 saroops. Only a few of them are puratan. We should see all saroops the same. Sikhs must take responsiblity of all saroops. Not all saroops are under climate control. So a white man can look after Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji alot better than a Sikh. If that means looking after a book then I am sure your right, but looking after Jaagdi Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is a Sikh's Duty.
  22. What is the point of ASHT? What heritage are they trying to promote? Lesson number 1 - Sikh's heritage is Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Jaagdi Jot! Why do "OUR" organisations never stand for Sikh Principles & Maryada. They view our history as something which can amuse and entertain the Enthusiast. I mean the events organised by ASHT is basically Gatka displays to excite the crowds.
