  1. he's improved the profile of british born spin bowlers...he keeps his kes....there's some positives there...just cos the man dont come to rehansabhais dont give us the right to attack his sikhi...what gives us the right to call oursleves sikhs.....what cos we jump on coaches or hang around the right gurdwaras....geeza look at the bigger picture....get out of the jatha once in a while...
  2. be strategically correct bruv...at the end of the day the man is associated by the media as being a Sikh....we need to take advantage of raising the profile a bit....ok the man's follows a funny looking baba....maybe monty does more nitnem than me, i dont care....fact is the man looks like a Sikh and says he is a sikh (which we also say we are)... ok the man dont fit our akj or taksali profile of a sikh.....but we can use that to our advantage.... sometime we gotta get our heads out of our backsides and look at the bigger picture....we aint no mahapurashs ourselves....
  3. Someone needs to put some stats forward, like what % of honour killing crimes in the uk are carried out by someone of sikh origin.....otherwise these dumb accusations remain unchallenged. someone like the sikh federation need to take this up....if anyones going to the lobby day today they can try raise the issue....
  4. namdharis seem to reinvent new stories to justify their beliefs more than i've had hot dinners. now they reckon that baba ram singh (who they call satguru) is hiding in germany ready to make a comeback. So let me see.....that makes him 250 years old.....ok....
  5. God bless the punjabis...& now they have their own publication.... let's see where this leads too....
  6. too many para people out there. get your head down and get on with your sikhi...stop thinkin theres a hidden agenda in everything..chat to whoever u need to...
  7. You obviously haven't protested outside a gurdwara against a manmat gurdwara committee! Tell you something, it aint funny. whatever problems them muslims got, we got problems of our own problems too.
  8. Ahhh the Dear Leamington Sangat..... how's all the manmat going....still drinking & eating meat in the old Gurdwara???...oh well the looks like the AKJIs are happy to sit and do keertan whilst the elders booze up in the Tachbrook.....
  9. Ramgharia cov what happens there? Next time there's a party at the Ramgharia Community centre on foleshill road, do make sure u pop in and check out what's happening. Also check out there the panday used for cooking the lamb and chicken come from!! Thought everyone on cov knew about this....
  10. Exactly.....Why then bother going to a Gurdwara to have Guru Granth Sahib Ji's darshan if one believes Guru Granth Sahib Ji is an object that can be frozen in a vault for hundreds of years. The GURBani is timeless, Our Guru Ji is therefore eternal, the age of a saroop is therefore irrelevant........ I reckon anyone who thinks it's ok for saroops of Guru Granth Sahib Ji to be in a library should go to that library and get Guru Granth Sahib Ji out like they would take out a best seller or reference book or the kama sutra or some other disguting book. I bet anyone who professes to be a Sikh would not have the guts to do it.......So why do some Sikhs keep attempting to justify that their Guru is just a book and should remain in an air conditioned library.....I'll never get it....I'm stoopid....
  11. The more and more I think about this scenario the more wound up I get! The worst thing is that this situation does not surprise me, I can vision it in my head. Glassy Junction opp the Gurdwara! When can we shut that pub down!
  12. When's the UK premiere of this film? Maybe we should pay the stars a vist at the premiere....
  13. In no way did I deny that it was Sikhs duty to look after Maharaj's saroop, this goes without saying, I agree with all the above. It would have just been nice if either yourself or KharkooSingh actually addressed the 2 points I made. KharkooSingh tried, despite your both making the typical internet warrior personal comments which I guess was just a cheap way of avoiding the point. So would it not make sense to invest in that infastructure and have that in place before we campaign to get back the Saroops the brits have??? Wouldn't that ultimately make a case, a challange, point on contention the least bit valid to the every day person outside of the Sikh community? Maybe either of you will try answer the first post and this 3rd point this time. And as for my chardikaala, I know its fustrating dealing with an attitude that you percieve to be counter productive but its been my observation that such personal unnecessary comments are from the least chardikaala people who talk about panthic issues yet know little gurbani nor hardly ever get up at A/V let alone know about the persons sharda who they are calling. Challo, guess I did something to diserve it. I got an idea. Lets not do anything because the task is too big...we are not capbable of investing in this infrastructure as we are a backward community. Thank God for the progressive Brits, without whom the Sikh religion would have been wiped out!!! The Brits can look after Guru Granth Sahib Ji better than us because they have air conditioning. NB. KhalsaSingh, I am being a sarcy git!
  14. Oh, the experts our out in full force today!!!!
  15. I was so bored before I discovered Sikhi!! Now I feel excited, like somethings going to happen! I feel the excitement of a kid when he get his birthday pressies...
  16. Alcohol and meat would attract the Sikh-folk on the edge of Sikhism. Don't mean we start promoting it. Why do we get so passionate over Bhangra? It's just a stupid dance like the Samba or Breakdancing. Man, people are so prepared to protect Punjabism but when it comes to protecting Sikh Maryada no one wants to come forward.
  17. If you think Bhangra adds to the quality of your life than so be it! It's a pointless argument Bhenji, it's the old Punjabi v Sikhi scenario which we have been through on this forum 100s if times.
  18. :umm: @ ....would you rather they did a competition called who has the longest hair? To me this is the most lamest talentless competition ever. Please kindly explain what is wrong... No competitions. Just s simple Kirtan Darbar every week followed by Katha. But hey I suppose Sikh Socieries today want Bhangra competitons not Kirtan Darbars. If you want to dance that's up to you, I don't reckon my Gurus would have promoted dancing so dancing does not appeal to me. You can boogy as much as you like bhenji, it's ur jeevan.
  19. Bhangra's lame! Sikh societies should be involved in activities that promote the teachings of our Gurus. Where in Gurbani does Maharaj encourage Bhangra? So why do we relate this to Sikhi? Bhangra is a Punjabi activity, not Sikh. Stick to Gurmat!
  20. I know what you mean bruv! People got their hidden agendas.
  21. Still think the violence thingy was made up or exagerated to hype the camp! I mean, where's the 10 year old boy who nearly got killed? What are the police doing about this, cos this aint some minor offence. The "only amritdhari surgeon" in UK who supposedly cant practice anymore was at the camp making sweet cups of tea. On Gurmastak Singhs blog (mrsikhnet.com) it was said that they know who carried out these alleged attacks. So come on then, who carried out these supposed attacks. Face it the camp went well this year, because the camp organisers had to get their act together, no doubt they deserve credit for a successfull camp. But I have my doubts about all these allegations of violence flying around the internet. I know im being a blunt git! It's about time we really found out the truth!
  22. OK, so anyone arrested yet? Did this really happen, I mean a 10 year old boy nearly being killed? The UK police would have a sent a manhunt out by now.... How is the only amritdhari eye surgeon doing who will never be able to operate? Why has this not hit any media yet? I'm sorry for my pessimistic view, but all this seems grossly exaggerated. How come no press has got hold of this, they’d have a field day on a “fanatical paki bashing” story? Menoo Dal Vich Kuch Kala Kala Disda!
  23. Jokers! Where are the Nihang armies of Punjab? What's the point of all these Nihang dals if no one is sorting the corruption out in Punjab!! Can't the Singhs of Punjab gang up and sort this mess out. Take Badal and Makkar down!!
  24. Definetly include the shaheeds of the Jaito Morcha In 1923, Sri Akhand Panth Sahib was Interrupted At Gurudwara Gangsar, Jaito. This Was Second Act Of Sacrilege Against Siri Guru Granth Sahib By The British. This Marked The Begining Of Jaito Morcha. On the 9th February, 1924 A.D., the first martyr squad of five hundred Singhs saffron attire marched from 'Sri Akal Takht'. A band preceded the squad followed by five beloved ones with saffron flags (Nishan Sahib). The palanquin of Guru Granth Sahib was in the middle folowed by the squad of martyrs in the lines of four. This squad was proceeding towards Gangsar reciting hymns, shouting slogans and holding congregations on the way. The people were serving the squad with milk, water, sweets and fruits, etc. although the Government was exerting great pressure on people not to serve them. When the squad reached near Tibbi Sahib on the 21st February, a British officer said ,"Stop, otherwise there will be firing." The squad kept on moving forward. The officer ordered to open fire. Firing continued from three sides for five minutes. Bearing the brunt of fire the squad continued to advance. As firing stopped, mounted soldiers and police beat the surviving members of the squad, tied them with ropes and took them inside the fort. Seven hundred singhs were arrested that day, about two hundred were injured and one hundred attained martyrdom. After the arrest of the squad of martyrs, the rulers of Nabha set up a special torture chamber in which the leading singhs were taken and tortured. they were hung feet up and were hit on the genitals. They were kept naked outside in cold. Inspite of these tortures on the Singhs, every time more Singhs presented themselves for the next squads than were asked by the Committee. Singhs came from as far off as Canada, Hongkong, Shanghai to join the Squads. After firing on the first squad of martyrs, this 'Morcha' (agitation) became an international movement. The sixteenth squad of martyrs of five hundred Singhs started from 'Sri Akal Takht' on the 17th April, 1925 A.D., Before that Squad had reached Gurdwara Gangsar, Sri Malcolm Heely, the Governor of Punjab gave approval to the Gurdwara Act on the 11th July, 1925 A.D. All the Akalis were released on the 27th July. Freedom to hold 'Akhand Path' at Jaito was obtained after one year and ten months.
