  13. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Please Sadh Sangat Ji, what are your views on this article. it is abit lenghty.sorry ********************************** Shaheeds, following in their footsteps. This blessed life we have now as Sikhs we duly and greatly owe to our Shaheed Singhs/Singhneeas, (Shaheed meaning Martyr) that¡¦s have given there lives so that we now might live a truly blissful life at the Gurus Charanaa (sanctuary) free from oppression, which was faced by the Sikhs in the 18th-19th Century. Mostly at the cruel hands of the Mughal Empire, which was soon to be destroyed by our Valiant and Brave Sikh Warriors. Soora so pahchaniye, je lade deen ke het, Purja-purja kat mare, kabhu Na chhade khet. Only he is brave who fights for the cause of the poor. He may be cut into pieces and may be killed, but he should not leave the field. (Bhagat Kabir Ji.) These Singhs and Singheea truly did live at the highest state of spirituality, and then again they also perfectly fitted in with Guru Gobind Singh Jee¡¦s Concept of Sant Sipahee, Saint Soldier. We look at these past time Sikhs and then look at the Sikhs at present¡K It really makes me sad and angry looking at today¡¦s Sikh youth influenced by Drugs and Alcohol. The Shaheed Singhs and Singhneea were carefree of all worldly joys and sorrows and led a precisely blissful life and no fear of death what so ever. When the time came to lay down their life for their religion or country they would do it with a smile on their face because as you all should know death is just another stage in life. They accepted the sweet will of God. Says Nanak, "That alone happens what He Wills; for nothing is in the hands of man." (Sri Rag M. 1) So why, O why people don¡¦t you follow these explicit examples of Spirituality and bravery led by these Martyr Sikhs. Even though Sikhism was suffering a great deal during that¡¦s period, it was a Golden Age for the Panth (brotherhood of sikhs) because of these Shaheeds that had shed their blood so that we now could live free lives. But look at us, we don¡¦t even seem to care about our wondrous, beautiful religion which so many people had given their lives for. Just for a brief moment think what would these Martyrs say about how corrupt Sikhi is now if they were here now¡Kwait, what am I talking about, they are here! Their souls are here, right now, but we don¡¦t realise that because our back is turned towards them! O¡¦ Foolish being realise this gift that guru has blessed us with. Do not waste your life in worldly disputes, you will only find true anand at the feet of the true Guru, Satguru. Truly Shaheed Singhs these Shaheeds are disgusted at what is happening to the Panth now. These martyrs have lightened the lamp of martyrdom for us, which is slowly burning out. Our fifth Guru, Satguru Arjan Dev Ji, first started this tradition of Martyrdom in the Sikh religion, he sat on a boiling red hot plate with hot sand being poured over him and then was dumped in the cold River Bias. Either he was to accept Islam or Death, but he did not even think of crying out in pain even once, such is the gift granted by waheguru. They alone are handsome, clever and wise, who surrender to the Will of God. || 2 || (PG 198 SGGS) Then again our beloved ninth guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji got executed at the hands of Aurangzeb. Next Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Guru Tegh Bahadur Jee¡¦s son created the Khalsa Panth in 1699 and fused a new light i n the Sikhs that they would burn out tyranny and stand for justice, the Khalsa Panth did not care for their own lives. They had absolutely no fear of death. It was their duty to fight and die for their religion and country (India), but yet the Indian Government does not appreciate the valour displayed in battle by these true Sikhs, they regard them as second hand citizens.(explained later on in the book) O¡¦ young Sikhs, rise against the injustice that is currently being faced by our brothers and sisters in Panjab, do not care for your own body, care for Sikhi and cherish the Naam in your heart and you will be forever successful in whatever you do. You can have my word for it. Guaranteed. Think of those thousands of Shaheeds who 2 younger sahibzadas sacrificed everything for you, follow their righteous path! Think of those Mothers who got their children killed in front of their own eyes but did not give up their religion. Think of the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, who were only 5 and 9 Years old when they got bricked up alive, but did not give up their religion. Baba Ajit Singh in battle Think of the 40 Martyrs of Muktsar who fought in the blazing Sun, but did not give up their Religion. Think of the two elder sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Baba Ajit Singh Ji and Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, who offered to go out into battle and give their life for their religion. Think of the thousands of Martyrs who gave their life in operation Bluestar but not their religion. Think of those Sikhs who gave their Scalps but not their Hair, think of those people who got boiled alive, think of those Shaheeds who got set alight alive, think of those Shaheeds who got sawn alive. Waheguru, waheguru, waheguru. The list is endless; if you are truly a committed Sikh then you will go and look up these martyrs. I shall tell you how blissful their lives were by narrating you the daily routine of one special Shaheed in 1978 named Bhai Fauja Singh: A comm on picture of Bhai Fauja Singh Ji Kurbani Part Three Views on Bhai Fauja Singh Ji This is small account of the Saint Soldier, Bhai Fauja Singh at the age of 42: His daily routine began by waking up at 2 a.m Amrit Vela. After having a bath he would begin Nam Simran. After Nam Simran he would do Nitnem, the Satguru`s Darshan, Kirtan, Sat Sangat and then he would be happy doing Sewa all day long. Bhai Fauja Singh's house was very close to the Siri Darbar Sahib, for many years so many Singhs and Singhnis used to visit him when going to the Darbar Sahib. The couple lived on the third floor where there were no facilities for water. Every night, before going to sleep, Bhai Fauja Singh would fill buckets of water from the water pump down below and take them upstairs for the Amrit Vela Ishnan of the Sangat staying there. The three flights of stairs were so narrow it was even difficult to walk up them without carrying anything. When we asked him to make some facilities for the water, he would laughingly reply, "Sister, if some other facilities were made available then I would not be able to do this Sewa anymore". He was always ready to help others by himself or by giving money and his mind was always thinking of the Satguru or the Panth. Laziness, sleep and hunger were never around him. We used to talk at home amongst ourselves that this was a soul of a Shaheed sent here for a particular reason and when that event has taken place it will go, we could not see it staying for long. Guru Ji gave his blessings and made him give Shaheedi to wake up the sleeping Khalsa Panth and bring back the Khalsa spirit and love, devotion and respect for Satguru. This Singh was always ready to obey the Guru`s orders. It was out of this spirit of devotion and sense of duty towards the Guru that Bhai Fauja Singh immediately got up from doing the Sewa of the Langar and presented himself. He completed the Sewa that Satguru had sent him to do. Bhai Fauja Singh and the other 12 Gursikhs gave their lives to break the unc onsciousness of the Panth and to make it stand on its own two feet again. The Panth should uphold the respect of the Satguru at all times. Picture of Bhai Fauja Singh Ji after Shaheedi Thanks to www.akj.org.uk for this article This is one out of thousands of examples you can follow. These Shaheeds did not just fight for the sake of fighting, they did so when the Sikh Religion was under threat, or when justice was not being served, not only to Sikhs but any religion at all. sabaahee saalaah jinee dhhiaaeiaa eik man || saeee poorae saah vakhathai oupar larr mueae || Those who praise the Lord in the early hours of the morning and meditate on Him single-mindedly, are the perfect kings; at the right time, they die fighting. (Pg 145 Salok Guru Nanak) Chu Karaz Hamaa Heeltai Dar Gajasht, Halaal Ust Bardhaan Bha Shamsheer Dhast || When all means have failed then the raising of the sword is pious and just. (Dasam Granth, Guru Gobind Singh Ji) From the time of Banda Singh Bahadur who fought with the treacherous Mughals, till the present Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale who fought against the inequality and caste system in India the Khalsa Panth has been shedding blood for the Khalsa Panth. "We should follow equally in the very footsteps, of these gracious people who at least knew how to die, and how to die in the Name of Guru and the Khalsa. So now we can tell our children that Sikh History has not ended, it has begun as a new page of life." (Beads of Truth, Vaisakhi 1978) "This day must not be forgotten. This is the day to remember the Martyrs of Amritsar. This is a day to be proud of, that at least there were men among us who could live to the very tradition of the Khalsa. There were men among us while alive who could take eleven bullets in their body and still say, "Waheguru". They went as a true son goes to defend the grace of the father." (Harbhajan Singh Yogi) Name of so me Modern Time Shaheeds „h BHAI FAUJA SINGH - He was a Shaheed in 1978 fighting against the Nirankari Protest on that horrific day of 14th April 1978. It was him (Bhai Fauja Singh) along with 13 other Sher Singhs went out to fight the Nirankaris and in the process took 11 bullets in their chest for the Khalsa Panth, most of these fearless lions attained Martyrdom on the spot. These 13 Shaheeds need special mention: Shaheed Bhai Keval Singh Ji Hoshiarpur, Shaheed Bhai Hari Singh Ji, Shaheed Bhai Avtar Singh Ji Kurala, Shaheed Bhai Piara Singh Ji Bhungarnee, Shaheed Bhai Harbhajan Singh Ji, Shaheed Bhai Ranbeer Singh Ji, Shaheed Bhai Raghbeer Singh Ji, Shaheed Bhai Gurcharan Singh Ji, Shaheed Bhai Amreek Singh Ji, Shaheed Bhai Dharambeer Singh Ji, Shaheed Bhai Darshan Singh Ji, Shaheed Bhai Jagjeet Singh Ji and of course, Shaheed Bhai Fauja Singh Ji. „h More will be added to the article, i am waiting for feedback from th sadh sangat as to what else i can add, .................thank you very much for your time.
