  1. WaaheguruujeekaaKhaalsaa, WaaheguruujeekeeFateh! The Campaign sevadars would like to thank all those Sikhs, from many jathebandhi's and none, who with the love of Guru ji in their hearts took out time to try and stop Guru ji saroop from being disrespected in Slough on Sunday. The Singhs and Singhnia arrived from many towns all over the UK on Sunday morning, many straight from a Raen Sabai Kirtan. However, the so-called 'sevadars' from Guru Granth Gurdwara (Mangat Hall), Southall had already taken Guru ji saroop to the Baylis House hotel and bar at 6 am. The Singhs and Singhnia were watching many places but did not discover that Guru ji saroop was in the building until the 'wedding' was about to start. A number of Sikhs managed to get in but were spotted by security and the heavy police presence and removed. The Sikhs started to do Chaupai Sahib Paaths, Simran and Jaikara's. Some of the wedding guests said that they thought what had happended was wrong because there was a Gurdwara Sahib available 5 minutes away! However, others were abusive. The family of Harbhajan Bhogal (father of the bride) lied to the Campaign sevadars. His son, Gurnam Bhogal, contacted the Campaign and had said that they would be willing to have the 'wedding' at a Gurdwara if a local venue could be found. When Gurdwara Singh Sabha Slough became available, they did even bother to turn up to a meeting this Wednesday to book the wedding. This Gurdwara Sahib is 5 minutes away by car! The Owners of Baylis House, who appear to be Hindu's, said via the wedding manager, Vish Bhalla, that the wedding would not ta ke place at the hotel and that it would be at a Gurdwara. Again, they lied. The person who organised the farce of 'wedding' is Satvinder Sarl of Harrow. This is the same person who disrespected Guru ji saroop on many previous occasions: 1. Vikrams Banqueting Hall, Slough - three weeks ago 2. C&L Country Club, Northolt - August 2004 If you want to see want he looks like, visit www.gurugranthsahibji.com and look at the proof section. Avtar Hunjan, President of Brent Sikh Centre informed the Campaign and Panjab Times that it was the 'ragi', Satvinder Sarl, who had arranged all these weddings and that they were not aware of the exact details of the locations. Once it became clear to the Police that the Sikhs would not leave until they knew Guru ji saroop would not be returning with the same 'Sikhs' who had brought the saroop to the Hotel, they tried to mediate. The President of Ramgarhia Gurdwara arrived and said that they would be willing to take care of Guru ji saroop and would definitely not return it to Mangat Hall. The family and 'granthis' insisted only one Sikh could enter to take Guru ji saroop but the Sikhs insisted it must be 5 Singhs. The 5 Singhs entered and took Guru ji saroop to the Gurdwara Sahib. The Sangat followed and did Paat aand Ardas upon arrival. To our detractors we say this: the example of Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji and His complete and utter respect for the physical form of Shabad Guru is what guides us. Miri and Piri, inner and outer purity, inward and outward respect for our Guru... this is our goal, this should be the goal of all those who call themselves Sikhs. The empty words and posturings of people on the internet mean nothing in comparison... To those who would think of disrespecting Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji in the future, think twice and ponder on the seriousness of your actions... The few photographs which were taken will be posted on www.gurugranthsahibji.com. We ask that Waaheguruu ji and Guru Granth Khalsa ji forgive us for the mistakes we made in trying to resolve this situation. WaaheguruujeekaaKhaalsaa, WaaheguruujeekeeFateh!
  2. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Brent Sikh Centre have until Thurday 14th October to reply with the outcome of their committee meeting. We will keep the Sangat informed. GurFateh!
  3. WaahegurujeekaaKhaalsa, WaahegurjeekeeFateh! WHAT & WHERE? Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is to be taken to Baylis House (Banqueting Suite), Stoke Poges Lane, Slough, Berkshire. SL1 3PB (http://www.baylishouse.co.uk/floor_plans_conf.htm) http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=49...p=newsearch.srf WHEN? Sunday 17 October 2004; in order to conduct a supposedly Sikh wedding ceremony. WHO? It is not known where Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji's saroop is to come from. In the circumstances the only information available is that of the family – Harbhajan Singh, Heston, Middx and Mohinder Singh Syan, Southall, Middx. The home address and telephone number is known to us. WHAT'S HAPPENED? Enquiries have been made as to where Guruji saroop is to come from but no definite information is available yet. The family have been contacted by telephone on three occasions from Thursday (7th Oct) through to Sunday (10th Oct) - the Hukamnama has been explained and alternative locations discussed. Harbhajan Singh has no regard for the respect of Guruji or the Hukamnama. The family is only concerned about the reception party; everything else is just a formality. Harbhajan Singh feels that he is not answerable to anyone and he has bought the right to abuse Guruji for the day. He has been continuously abus ive over the phone. WHAT CAN YOU DO? 1. Call Baylis House on 01753 555508, ask to speak to C.L. Bhalla (M.D) or Manager Vish Bhalla (vish@baylishouse.co.uk) and tell them that: a) the wedding which is due to take place is very offensive to Sikhs and is being opposed by all the leading Sikh organisations in the UK (including the National Council of Gurdwaras); b) that there will be a large protest on the day with the media being invited to attend as well; c) that they should contact the Respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Campaign's Gurjeevan Singh on 07743-211135 if they wish to discuss this further. 2. Apply pressure on the local Gurdwaras’ in Slough to take an active role in stopping this abuse of Guruji. Sri Guru Singh Sabha (01753 531826) and Ramgarhia (01753 525458) have responded very poorly to this issue and are not willing to take any responsibility for resolving the situation. The 2 Slough Gurdwaras must take a lead in stopping acts of sacrilege against Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, particularly as they wish to open a Sikh school within the area 3. ABOVE ALL, organise transport from your local area for the Sangat to be present at Baylis House on the 17 October 2004 to STOP this act of abuse from taking place. Further details will be given shortly. Sangat ji - we can stop this disrespect happening if we all work together. Other culprits, who continue to sell Guruji as a commodity, will be identified on the day. These culprits will be made responsible for their actions! Stay Chardhi Kala!! WaahegurujeekaaKhaalsaa, WaahegurujeekeeFateh!
  4. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Today, over 50 Naujawan Khalsa visited Brent Sikh Centre to resolve the outstanding issue of the continuing abuse of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by this Gurdwara Committee. This Sikh Centre has been exposed a culprit for taking Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to hotels, clubs, pubs & banqueting halls and other places against Gurmat, to perform ‘Sikh Weddings’. Recently this happened at Vikram’s Occasions Palace in Slough where Guruji was placed in the middle of the dance floor and only curtains separated the remaining bar area stocked with alcohol. The Youth commenced by reciting Sri Benti Chaupai Sahib Ji da Path in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. We requested the Granthi to contact President Avtar Hoonjan to return to the Gurdwara and discuss the issues with the Youth. Avtar Hoonjan did not answer any phone call therefore refusing to attend. At this time Gurdwara Secretary Harbans Singh was met by the Youth. Firstly he claimed the Gurdwara will not be committing this beadbi again to a handful of Youth but refused to meet with the remaining Youth congregating in the Divan Hall. All Youth are agreed that the committee of Brent Sikh Centre do not see what they have done as a serious offence against Sikhi. When asked if they have done Ardas in Guru Maharaj’s presence asking for forgiveness he said this was not necessary. At the time of this discussion a wedding reception was being held in the Langar Hall with caterers, waiters and a tandoor outside. A member of the wedding party decided to start smoking within the boundaries of the Gurdwara. When qu estioned about this, Harbans Singh claimed that Brent Sikh Centre was not a Gurdwara but a Community Centre. The traditions of a Gurdwara do not fully apply here, even through this ‘Centre’ has two Divan Halls and prakash of Guruji. The link with other wedding organisers & banqueting halls were highlighted to Harbans Singh. His response was that they just book and send Guru Maharaj out, they do not know the location. Satvinder Sarl was named as the individual who did the booking on behalf of the family for the wedding in Slough (Vikram’s Occasions Palace). The committee of the Gurdwara is highly fragmented and does not working for the betterment of the Centre. We asked Harbans Singh to sign, on behalf of the Gurdwara, the declaration letter we had earlier sent to them but he refused. Again this does not give the Naujawan the confidence that they have actually passed the resolution that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji will not be taken to hotels, clubs, pubs, banqueting halls etc. While these discussions were taking place emergency alarms rang twice. When the Naujawan Khalsa were leaving four police cars and two police wagon arrived at the Gurdwara. The Police were told that Militants have entered the Gurdwara and a Granthi has been injured! The committee have not acted responsibly undermining their roles community representatives. The Naujawan Khalsa has given Brent Sikh Centre one more chance to rectify the situation: The Campaign will be formally writing to the committee identify the itinerary for a committee meeting: 1) An official statement that this beadbi will not happen again and their adherence to the Hukamnama from Sri Akal Takht Sahib 2) An official apology of previous actions and Ardas in the presence of Guruji asking for forgiveness 3) Procedures to fully investigate future bookings. 4) Apologise for the verbal behaviour to members of Respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Campaign and Daljit Singh Shergill of National Council of Gurdwaras. Harbans Singh said that he will call an emergency committee meeting but this can only be authorised by Avtar Hoonjan. They have 7 days to call a committee meeting and response in writing commencing from the date of our letter. Non co-operation from the Gurdwara will be reported to the Sangat and further action will be taken. GurFateh!
  5. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! New thread started.........please see "BRENT SIKH CENTRE CALL POLICE!" GurFateh!
  6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! As previously stated, we have concluded from our formal discussions with Avtar Singh Hoonjan is that he is not apologetic. In our discussions he continued to justify his actions. He claimed that whatever was happening in the Gurdwara was outside his knowledge and even blamed the Granthis and other members of the Gurdwara. In the conversations he sometimes said he was not in the country when these wedding ceremonies were organised. From time to time he justified his actions by saying that if wedding ceremonies cannot take place in hotels than people will get married in other ways. He was continuously concerned about his personal dishonour and would not acknowledge the sacrilege he has lead against Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. After these inconclusive discussions, we formally released a statement and requested a face to face meeting. Members of other organisation also spoke to him and came up with the same conclusion. The demand for a meeting is not a one person decision. Various JathaBandhis are now involved. The meeting still needs to go ahead to end this issue. The aim of the Campaign is to stop this abuse from happening in the UK and Brent Sikh Centre has been identified as a culprit. We look forward to meeting Avtar Singh Hoonjan and Brent Sikh Centre Committee. GurFateh!
  7. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! R.Kaur Bhenji, http://forums.waheguroo.com/index.ppa?act=...t=ST&f=2&t=6967 It was the above posting which first informed the Sangat that the beadbi was taking place. We also received a phone call informing us that GuruJi had been taken to Vikram's Occasions Palace, followed by several more giving us further details. We collated the information based on the Sangat's responses on this and other forums as well direct conversations with the Sangat. Bhenji and Panthsewakji, we keep going round in circles, Avtar Singh Hoonjan abused his right as a President of a Gurdwara and had a moral responsibility to abide by the basic rules of Sikhi. We know he let GuruJi into the Banqueting hall on 18 September. We know that Brent has previously allowed Guruji's Saroop to be taken to Banqueting Halls in Birmingham and West London. We know that Tarlochan Singh Grewal allowed GuruJi's Saroop to be taken to C&L Country Club on 22 August 2004. We know that Satvinder Singh Sarl did keertan at the C&L Country Club on 22 August and at Vikram's Occasions Palace on 18 September. Vikram's Occasions Palace openly says that they can perform a Sikh wedding ceremony on their premises. As Brent was responsible for performing the ceremony on 18 September then one can conclude that Vikram's link is Brent Sikh Centre. Every Sikh knows that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the eternal Guru. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji would never have entered these premi ses. What right do we have to take Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in to these premises ? There's no middle ground, this is wrong and there's no gain from twisting the Hukumnana. Bhenji, we would be extremely grateful if you could also direct us to Avtar Singh Hoonjan's public apology and confirmation that Brent will no longer be involved in this form of beadbi. The meeting is required for closure of the issue. GurFateh!
  8. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! R Kaur Bhenji We apologise to anyone who feels that we are creating beadbi by our actions. We are not an organisation; we are a network of Young Khalsa who feel that the respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is at its lowest. Gurdwaras are the centre point of our religious activity. It is essential that the people running Gurdwara's understand their role and the potential impact their activities or actions have on the Sikh community. If a GuruGhar committee cannot practice what Sikh preaches then what chance do we have of preaching to others? The declaration letter was sent out in early September, we are 4 weeks into this and reminders will be issued. We have had 35 replies and feel it's a start in the right direction. This is a long term process, however if we find out about potential or occurred beadbi then it will be targeted immediately. We have approached Avtar Singh Hoonjan in formal manner. Firstly by contacting him on behalf of the campaign and then requesting other Sikh representatives to also speak to him. All have requested a meeting on behalf of the Sangat (not the Campaign or Organisation) to resolve the situation immediately. Avtar Singh Hoonjan has not committed to this and raises other irrelevant issues in reply. He also refuses to acknowledge the situation in writing. We just want Avtar Singh Hoonjan to take responsibility of his actions, apologise to Guru Ji, the Sadh Sangat and confirm that he will not allow Brent Sikh Centre to be a part of this act ever again. It is nothing personal. We are not taking a political stance again st the Gurdwara committee and pray they succeed in promoting Sikhi in the Brent borough. At the end of the day, it's an individual's opinion on how seriously they feel the beadbi carried out by Brent Sikh Centre is. GurSikhs view this as a gross act of sacrilege and will stand against those responsible. GurFateh!
  9. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Representitives of British Sikh Organisations and Gurdwaras have contacted Avtar Singh Hoonjan of Brent Sikh Centre. Conclusions of these discussions are that he is not apologetic for his role in this scam. Sadh Sangat ji, the facts are presented to you all. This cannot be allowed to continue and the Respect For Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Campaign are arranging a public meeting with Avtar Singh Hoonjan of Brent Sikh Centre demanding an apology in front of Guruji & the Sangat as well as confirmation that the Centre will adhere to the hukam of Sri Akal Takht Sahib forthwith. WHAT CAN YOU DO •You can call up Brent Sikh Centre and speak to Avtar Singh Hoonjan or any other committee member expressing your disgust at their blatant disregard. •You call call up Satvinder Singh Sarl (the private Ragi) and again express your disgust at his personal money making scheme. •And above all your presence will be required to attend a public meeting with Brent Sikh Centre to stop this immediately. Details of the meeting will be disclosed shortly. GurFateh! Gurjeevan Singh
  10. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Dear Sadh Sangat Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji will not be taken to the Menzies Prince Regent Hotel in Chigwell, Essex on 3rd October 2004. The Anand Karaj has been re-scheduled to a local Gurdwara in East London. We have been blessed by Guru Maharaj and thank all who have made this possible. Please forgive us if we have offended anyone. Stay in Chardhi Kala!! GurFateh! Gurjeevan Singh
  11. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! We have had a number of phone discussions with the president Avtar Singh and are pushing for a meeting. He has also received a number of phone calls from other influential Sikhs about the beadbi. Self Edited-------. We will advise the Sangat of the meeting that is now definetly going to take place. GurFateh!
  12. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! A group of 3 GurSikhs went down to Vikram's Occasions Palace during the wedding, managed to take pictures and delay the family's programme by a couple of hours. They were met with a number of insults, but with GuruJi's Kirpa they were brave and stood up for Khalsa Ethics. We need the Sangats support to stop Brent Sikh Centre & Vikram's Occassions Palace from doing this beadbi again. It is now emerging that Brent Sikh Centre along with Mangat Hall, Southall have been responsible for a number of similar beadbis in the last few months. There seems to be a business relationship between various banqueting halls, wedding planners, marriage bureaus and Brent Sikh Centre. This money making scheme has to be stopped. Please help us put pressure on the relevant parties. GurFateh !!!!!
  13. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Thanks for the info. Just got a call about this too. Looks like no one knew about this one in advance. Please can we request any sewadars in Slough to go to the Banqueting Hall now and take some pictures of the wedding, granthi & ragi jatha. This will be a great help. We will get in touch with the committee now and urge that the sangat help us out by also getting in touch with the committee and communicate their disgust. Unfortunatly it's too late to stop the beadbi from taking place this time but we must prevent this from happening again. Any further information/help would be most appreciated. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  14. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Contact has now been made with the family and alternatives have been put forward to them, ie local Gurdwaras where the Anand Karaj can take place on the same day, etc. We will keep everyone informed of the outcome. GurFateh!
  15. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Sall ji, Please make contact with us again, some more issues to discuss. GurFateh!
