This drum is always beaten when a person wants to avoid Gurmat Veechar. Let's look into history and see if this "everyone interprets Gurbani differently and we can personalize Sikhi" really passes the test. Surely we have Sikh history that gives us concrete examples of what is described as personal Sikhi and what is described as Gurmat. I am going to pick Sakhis that are well know in the Sikh community. Take the Sakhi of Bhai Kanhaiya ji. Singhs accused Bhai Kanhaiya ji of helping the enemy laying in the battlefield hurt by giving them water. Bhai Sahib's actions were reported to Satguru and Satguru called Bhai Sahib to his court to be judged. Satguru asked Bhai Sahib why are you helping the enemy that we fought against. Bhai Sahib explains that he did not see friend or foe laying on the dirt with wounds, but he saw Akal Purakh in each of them. After hearing this Satguru told the whole court that this is the true actions of Satguru's Sikh because he understood the teachings of Gurbani correctly. Is the above response a personal interpretation of Gurbani that Bhai Sahib gave to Satguru? No, it was a Gurmat reponse that comes from Gurbani. Which side was expressing personal intrepretations of Sikhi? It was the Singhs that accused Bhai Sahib ji of helping the enemy. They could have given a whole lot of personal reasons and Satguru rejected every single one of them. Personalization of Sikhi was rejected along with personal intrepretations of Sikhi. Take another Sakhi of Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj's children and Bhai Lehna Ji. Satguru commanded many tasks to his two sons and Bhai Lehna ji. However, every time Satguru's two sons had a personal reason to say no, this is not logical. This does not fit into what my mind is thinking. Bhai Sahib did the opposite. Bhai Sahib having the teachings of Gurmat engraved on his forehead would get up without questioning or doubting and complete the task. Gurbani tells us for doubting and defying Satguru's orders the two sons are worse than manmukhs. They had their personal interpretations of what is Gurbani (what Satguru is ordering) saying. Satguru rejected their interpretations. This personal Sikhi idea is a new concept made by urban Sikhs to follow the ego. Just for everyone's info, even before listening to Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh ji's Katha on the tuks which I presented, I understood what Satguru is saying. If people don't want to except Scholars on the topic of Gurbani, then they should curse Satguru for doing katha of Gurbani and then telling Baba Deep Singh ji and Bhai Mani Singh ji to continue the teaching of Katha of Gurbani and giving correct interpretations.

This is all good when non-Sikhs have no agenda. But do you think there were any times in history when ONLY Amritdharis were allowed to make langar for sangat and Satguru's fauj? Some Gurdwara allow degh to be brought from homes. Sure this encourages people to participate in the process, but there has been cases where foreign material like nails were put in degh and then brought to the Gurdwara. It was some form of black magic. So people believe in a lot of things and telling who is Sikh from a non-Sikh is very hard. Those that do seva in Langar halls and speak to the main caretakers will know what evil intentions some of the sangat has and how to best deal with such bad intentions.

Singh are you being serious. Nothing can equal to Raag Kirtan. Do you think maybe it is because of personal shortcomings that you still find rock/metal as enjoying for the atma? I have listened to all sorts of music. But after Raag kirtan, nothing has matched it. I mean how can anything beat or match Sachi Bani! Everything else just sounds like a person chewing on some really crunchy cereal. Some like listening to that Sartaj fellow. But I don't get what is so fascinating about what he says. It's him singing kachi Bani. If I want to hear a song about Waheguru or about the atma, then why listen to false material. I mean we don't go to half baked teachers to learn about medicine or law. Satguru tells Sikhs to come and sing Satguru's Bani and says don't sing Kachi Bani. They can sing about God, but it is fruitless.

So why still keep Chaur Sahib di seva?

Go ask the Gurdwaras that have these unlearned keshdhari guys doing katha. Well for the most part many Gurdwaras are controlled by people that want to push their views on Sikhs. So they would not have GS Mann come in to teach Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji as many of them don't even accept Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. I have also seen moneh come on stage and make a complete fool of themselves on wedding days. These unlearned moneh start singing about worldly entanglements as true love.

From personal experience I have seen moneh doing various seva. From doing seva of Maharaj's Takht to seva of participating in an Akhand Paath and langar. When they were doing seva of Maharaj's Takht di seva it was a race to get the job done regardless of how it will look. There was no pyare and sharda put into the seva. Also during an Akhand Paath the moneh was more interested in who was coming and bowing before Maharaj than reading Sri Jap Ji Sahib. Also in the langar hall I have seen moneh rush through langar di seva and the main focus is to get the job done. A phone call comes, pick up the call and start talking while giving out langar. Sitting and talking with many moneh about seva and they say the same thing. Seva is a job.............get it done and leave............so what if sucha is not completely kept. Katha can only be done by learned individuals. Example is of GS Mann who speaks on Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji and he has a hair cut.

Hatha yoga incorporates postures no doubt, but the end goal with the postures and breath control is suppose to control the mind and ultimately lead to Samadhi. Such practices are rejected in Gurbani as they don't control the mind and do not lead to Samadhi. The yogis sitting in the mountains for thousands of years could not control the mind with these types of yogas, what makes you think anyone else will be able too? Again cocaine does not cure a wound caused by a foreign object being jammed in a person. The cocaine mask's the actual problem. Kundalini and other similar yogas do the same thing. If you have a health issue, then find the source for the health issue and then the health issue can be cured through medicine that attacks the source.
