  1. Chill yaar! You were not the target of my message, no one else was either, it was a general comment. But please do Ardas for my anger. I'd appreciate that
  2. I was making sure the CTRL key was working fine. Hahaha, nah its aite. Tissues wouldn't do the trick.
  3. I typed up a long post, but then I am like screw it LOL. No I am no intellectual, and I rather not disclose my emotions, because I would end up swearing which would hurt my feelings as well as others who read.
  4. Bhat (Kashmiri: भट (Devanagari), بھٹ (Nastaleeq)), sometimes spelled as Butt (Pahari: بٹ), both of which are a shortened rendition of Bhatta (Kashmiri: भट्ट (Devanagari), بھٹٹ (Nastaleeq)),[1] is a Kashmiri surname, found among individuals native to the Kashmir Valley of India,[2] as well as Kashmiri émigrés who have migrated to the Punjab,[3][4] a region divided between India and neighbouring Pakistan.[5] Kashmiris bearing the surname Bhat belong to the larger Bhat caste of Brahmins found in the rest of the India;[1][6][7] the surname is shared by both Hindus and Muslims.[8] The Sikhs also share the Bhat heritage, and are known as the Bhat or Bhatra and Bhatta sangat and were amongst the first followers of Guru Nanak.[9] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhat_clan

  7. This movie is turning into a revolution. I haven't seen it yet, but the reactions of people to this movie would bring you to tears. Young Sikhs who do not keep Sikhi saroop are pledging that they are going to stop doing beadbi of their kes. Little kids in tears are vowing never to waver from the path of Sikhi. And on a few instances I even saw Hindus posting on Facebook that after watching this movie they have every intention to embrace Sikhi. Even Bollywood stars such as Shilpa Shetty and some others have heavily appreciated this movie.
  8. Nov 7, 2014 By: Kate Mosford THE COLUMN Volume 10, Issue 20, pp. 8 A team of researchers at the University of Huddersfield, UK, has investigated the potential of okra for emulsification of certain food products using size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) and fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.1 Okra is a flowering plant and originates from Africa. Okra pectins are acidic, random coil polysaccharides composed of galactose, rhamnose, and galacturonic acid. Pectins are used in the food industry for their gelling, stabilizing, and thickening properties. Okra pectins differ quite substantially from those extracted from apple, citrus, and beet in terms of protein and acetyl contents, indicating their greater hydrophobicity and suggesting that pectin derived from okra can be used as an effective emulsifying agent. Extracts rich in pectins were isolated by aqueous extraction from okra pods. Extracted polysaccharides were assessed using SEC and FTIR spectroscopy. Lead author of the study, Katerina Alba, told The Column: SEC was performed in order to obtain information with regards to molecular dimensions of isolated pectins. This data contributed to further understanding of the effect of extraction conditions on the physiochemical characteristics of okra polysaccharides, and consequently their potential to act as emulsifying agents. The two extracts, OE6 and OE4, both showed good emulsification but differed greatly in terms of their efficiency towards long-term stabilization against coarsening. OE6 emulsions were stable; OE4 were more susceptible to coarsening, which resulted in droplets of greater than average size. The increased stability of the OE6 emulsions was attributed to the higher protein load of the interfaces, resulting in increased rigidity; viscosity was also two times greater than OE4. Katerina detailed how beneficial this research could be for the food industry and for consumers. She said: Recently, the nutritional and functional properties of okra pods have re-awakened interest to research its potential uses. There were several studies that have revealed the antioxidant activity of okra flour, whereas okra seeds are also considered as [a] high-protein oilseed crop and can be used as a complement to other pectin sources. Physiological studies have demonstrated hypoglycemic properties of okra polysaccharides, suggesting their potential use as functional food ingredients. However, the structural analysis and potential of okra isolates to act as a food hydrocolloid in model food matrices have not been reported yet. The team concluded that okra extracts are good candidates for emulsification in acidic environments. Katerina concluded: Future research will involve the evaluation of gelation properties of polysaccharides extracted from okra pods and further exploration of its potential in drug delivery systems. 9. A potato genetically engineered to reduce the amounts of a potentially harmful ingredient in French fries and potato chips has been approved for commercial planting, the Department of Agriculture announced on Friday. The potatos DNA has been altered so that less of a chemical called acrylamide, which is suspected of causing cancer in people, is produced when the potato is fried. The new potato also resists bruising, a characteristic long sought by potato growers and processors for financial reasons. Potatoes bruised during harvesting, shipping or storage can lose value or become unusable. The biotech tubers were developed by the J. R. Simplot Company, a privately held company based in Boise, Idaho, which was the initial supplier of frozen French fries to McDonalds in the 1960s and is still a major supplier. The companys founder, Mr. Simplot, who died in 2008, became a billionaire. The potato is one of a new wave of genetically modified crops that aim to provide benefits to consumers, not just to farmers as the widely grown biotech crops like herbicide-tolerant soybeans and corn do. The nonbruising aspect of the potato is similar to that of genetically engineered nonbrowning apples, developed by Okanagan Specialty Fruits, which are awaiting regulatory approval. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/08/business/genetically-modified-potato-from-simplot-approved-by-usda.html?_r=0
  10. What if I agree that I am dumb and insecure? Will you stop posting nonsense questions on an hourly basis? Or daily basis? Or weekly basis? If you think I am so dumb and insecure why did you hit like? You see how irritating one stupid question after another looks like? You do? Good, thank God! Finally! And yes, I am ready to admit for your happiness that I am supposedly dumb and insecure, hoping that you stop it! They are, its some Gyanis who still think its ok. You should initiate the procession. We all will join you (atleast you will be away from the computer). You should initiate the procession. We all will join you (atleast you will be away from the computer). We will stop protesting if a Sikh girl marries a non-Sikh once he has taken Amrit. That is just one question you asked. Did you forget the rules? You have to ask atleast 14 questions in one post before anyone bothers to read it. Oh and all have to be stupid. Try again! :D
  11. We would ask them to register at Sikhsangat.com and post their 15 questions per day. That way, at some point, they would....
  12. If you guys see the kind of horrible things that were said about Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Patshah Ji Maharaj yesterday on Gurpurab on a Facebook page (don't ask me the link, its an audio which thankfully I did NOT listen to and I am NOT going to advertise it here) run by a similar sort of Hindu group, you would be pissed at the Singhs for being nice.

  14. They were offering flowers to a painting of Guru Sahib. I don't think Maharaj's saroop was there, unless the cameraman didn't focus purposely, otherwise the Singhs would have made it clear that they have to sit on the floor. Hanji, that is true. There shouldn't be any VIP treatment for anyone in Guru's Darbar.

  18. You know what, these sort of people piss me off so bad, at times I think we need to kick aside the issues we have with Hindus and Muslims for a short period of time and thrash these traitors we have within the qaum. I swear the day we do it, we won't have to thrash outsider non-Sikhs. They will see that the lion has woken up and will do what they have always done best, i.e. flee the battlefield.
  19. If anyone on this planet has given respect to the name "Singh", its the Sikhs. In Hindu communities its the common surname found in Rajputs, Jats from Rajasthan and Haryana, perhaps even Gujjars. What surprised me is that in Rajasthan even Thakurs and Brahmins carry this surname, and even Brahmins in Bihar. I had a very good friend in college from Rajasthan who was a Thakur Brahmin and his surname was Singh. Guys, you know what the problem is? These guys have such profound hatred for Sikhs, that they can't bare to see Sikhs called Singhs. Each time they tell their name to someone, they have to specify that they are not Sikhs but Hindus from Rajput/Jat/Thakur/Gujjar background, only to avoid being mocked at via Sardar jokes. Some Sardar jokes make fun of the name Singh as well, which brutally burns their backside. Thus the burning hatred for Sikhs and Sikhs having the surname Singh. "My name is _____ Singh. Oh no no, I am not a Sardar, I am a _____" This is what they have to live with, day in and day out. Thus this pig came on here telling us that Guru Sahib "stole" the name and that we should change it. Mr. Namesake Singh Tomar, for all we care, you can go and jump off the next skyscraper you find. We will NEVER change our name to ANYTHING else EVER. Its a Guru given gift and we will fight to death to sustain it.
