Mata Kaulan has been one of the GREATEST gursikhs in the panth. Sarovar Kaulsar adjacent to amritsar is also on her name. Mata Kaulan was adoped at a young age by a muslim priest who raised her up as a father, gave her islamic education. Later, Mata Kaulan heard Sri Sukhmani Sahib from Mian Mir jee and fell in love with sikhi. That quazi was a religious bigot and intolerant and used to beat Mata jee for singning gurbani. Then Guru Hargobind Jee Maharaaj jee came to know about all this and gave instructions to sikhs to bring Mata jee to Amritsar and gave her a home to stay where she could practice sikh faith completely without any fear. From this we understand the following : 1. If a person wants to practice the sikh faith and is stopped by his parents, spouse etc... that person shud give the sikh faith top priority, even if it means breaking the relations with parents, spouse. Hence, if Romakaur wants to practice sikh faith and wants her future kids to practice sikh faith and is being stopped by her husband, she has full right to divorce him.

Dont try to teach this crap here. For a sikhi girl, her Guru is her Husband, her Guru is her mother-father. At the same time, a sikh shud shud respect and most importantly take care of his parents in their old age. A sikh is also supposed to be completely loyal to his/her spouse. RomaKaur Bhainn shud be an INSPIRATION for the sikh girls. She is giving her faith the first priority. She is giving her Guru first priority. She just made a mistake as a younster and married a person of other faith. But is she the only one ? Large number of people studying in colleges do sinful things like dating sleeping around, have relationships and HIDE all that stuff. Many of the amrithdari bibis who look really innocent from their face do disgraceful things and get pattitt, dont have much anakh and moral character. Roma Kaur Bhainn is much much better than all such people. She fell in love with somebody as a teenager and was loyal enough to marry him. Now she has matured and has realized the importance of sikhi and she has every right to come back to sikhi and make her kids sikh. As a panth, we shud be giving her full support...

I doubt ur post was directed to me but just to clear I wrote that the panthic kirtanniyas shud be given enough money to live an ok normal life. Now what this ok normal life is can be decided by the local sangat. I live in Ludhiana and I feel that if there is a panthic kirtanniya here who is doing full-time good parchar, he should be given around 15-18,000 per month.

Dear Bhainn, I can understand ur concerns. This world is bikh, poison. U talk about people, u could have ur chachaas, masarrs, maasis talk all wrong stuff about u. Thats how this world is. People just take enjoyment out of other's miseries and pass their time. However, u should consider urself very lucky that u have realized the importance of sikhi. All this can happen with Guru Kirpa only. Dont let this oppurtinity go. I pray u find a singh who can understand u and can marry u. Personally I feel in a gursikhi wedding, the most important thing shud be sikhi. Divorcee or not shud not be an issue.But unfortunately thats not how the society feels. Many of the present day amritdharis were clean shaven in their college days and must have done some dating or might have had relationships. In ur case it was to be marriage. But still that shud not make a difference and I hope some singh understands this and marries you for your love of sikhi. And yes, dont consider urself lonely. Keep dropping in ur thoughts here. At the same time, start doing some paath. Gurbani is kalyan-roop and removes the obstackles in our worldly journey.

Man, dont spoil this thread. The parkash of Sri Dasam Granth is done at a lower level than Guru Granth Sahib Jee Maharaaj. The moderators need to watch out that this thread does not turn into the join parkash debate.

As a mother u have a huge right on ur children and the religion they practice. If ur hubby will force the kids to be hindu, he is INTOLERANT. That shud give u a good enough reason for divorce. Dear Bhainn, we all make mistakes in life. Ur poorble karam are really coming out strongly. U shud become a sikh and make ur kids sikhs AT ANY COST. If ur husband is accepting this, he is an amazing human, if he is not, well..... well all the best to him but u need to GIVE UR RELIGION FIRST PRIORITY. Everything comes second. Guru comes first. In ur post u wrote, u are a professional... well thats a big relief. U can become financially independent. Ur parents will get convinced. Just talk about this to the sangat of a local gurdwara and request the sangat to have a talk with ur parents.

This is AMAZING. I dont have words to express my happiness over this. Hazoor Sahib is SACHKHAND. That land is blessed. That dharti is blessed. There is strong presence of Dashmesh Pita at that place.

That is a very tough situation. Ur poorble karam are bringing u closer to sikhi. We have come to this world ONLY TO REUNITE WITH AKAL PURAKH. Nuthing else is of any use. Having said that u have committed urself into a marriage and marriage is not a joke. I feel the best way for u will be to ask ur husband that "if i become amritdhari and practice sikh faith completely and at the same time perform all duties of a wife, will u accept it ?" If he says no, u need to think about divorce. If he says yes, he is a very good person and u shud discuss the matter with the local sangat or the punj. Yes, life for a divorcee is tough in punjabi culture. However, if Guru jee wills u can find an appropriate life partner, or there is nuthing wrong in staying alone as well. This human life is precious, we wont get it again and again. Sikhi is the way to Sachkhand. Guru Nanak Dev Jee Maharaaj is the SATGURU. Dont miss this chance.

There is a rehitnama, I dont remember the exact words but it says that if a sikh is a pujaari(granthi, kirtanniyaa), he should take only that much money which is just enough to live an ok normal life. If a kirtaniya lives in gareebi, he is a gem. If a kirtanniya lives an ok normal life, well.. thats fine too. If a kirtanniya is greedy, he is 1. harming the panth. 2. harming the image of fellow kirtanniyaas. 3. harming his own spiritual avastha. These days in punjab, granthi has become a gall due to the greedy nature of many granthis.

I have done ishnaan at all the 5 sarovars in Sri Amritsar Sahib. Which are the other places where puratan singhs used to do ishnaan ?? I guess one will be Sri Taran Taaran Sahib. Which others ?? Info greatly appreciated...

This is a ridiculous topic. How about those haramkhor morally corrupt "kirtanniyas" who dont take money but use the kirtan popularity to date girls, to get nri rishtaa, to get kirtan visaa ????? In some jathebandis, u have parents fighting with each other over the time given to their daughters for kirtan. This kirtan done by their daughters is a way to get a NRI or a rich mundaaas rishta. These people are much worse in my dictionary. If a kirtanniya is taking JUST MONEY to feed his family, IT IS THE DUTY OF THE PANTH TO TAKE CARE OF SUCH A KIRTANNIYAA. People like Bhai Pinderpaal Singh jee, Bhai Anandpur Sahib Vale, Bhai Balbir Singh jee(he does great kirtan of Sri Dasam Granth), Giani Sher Singh jee Nihang(has very good knowledge of Sri Dasam Granth and Sarbloh Granth) shud be taken care of by the panth.

Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee not only gives reference of Dasam Bani, Bhai Sahib were an abhiyaasi of Dasam Bani. Bhai Sahib had great respect for nihungs and taksali singhs. Bhai Sahib was one of the greatest sikhs(not in the last 100 years) but since 1699. Dasam Granth gives recognition to khalsa identity. It taeches us how to deal with organizational matters of sikh panth.It gives there of five banis of Amrit sanchar. It gives us our ardas. It instills us with bir russ so that a khalsa resists tyranny. This is not liked by certain anti sikh forces who want to write off sikhism in the long run. They have their agents who look like sikhs from outside but are sell outs. Dear Veer jeoo, The britishers, RSS(BJP) and Congress, dont like Sri Dasam Granth. Basically, a thief will have strong dislike for Sri Dasam Granth because Sri Dasam Granth exposes all the clever deceits of clever immoral people. Moreover, Sri Dasam Granth has lots of bir rass, but thats not it. Its a great tool for bhagti as well. Jaap Sahib is an epitome of bhagti rass. Sri Akal Ustatt is out of this world. Chaupai Sahib is amazing.. Sri Kaal jee Ustatt is beyond words.... Another thing that sikhs shud understand is the Akal purakh loves both Dharam(bhagti) and RANN. A person who gets shaheed in a dharam yudh gets a huge reward and even people who have done years of bhagti fall behind such a shaheed. Then I posted the doomish news at a tatkhalsa website. Then on sikhsangat.. People shud give some respect to me. I am not claiming to be a nostradamus but whatever I wrote is coming true. And I am not some 10th pass who suffers from jealousy from educated people. I have completed Btech and mtech from IIT-Chennai, IIT Delhi. I have been doing part time career counselling for about 4 years. I have worked in software industry, finance and at present I am working in education industry myself where I deal with young students everyday... Moreover, I am not trying to hide behind a computer. Harinder Singh is my dargahi name(name given to me by punj) and amardeep singh is my professional name, though I am planning to get my name changed in the official papers in the future. Some people will feel i am mad posting such stuff and others will feel I have some clever agendaa etc. but whatever I am writing has been coming true and will continue to come true as well. Getting into debt to get a college degree is suicidal I feel. If somebody has money and wants to get college degree , get it but make sure u are mentally ready for the disappointment u will face in ur professional life.

The singhs shud remain with singhs and kaurs with kaurs. However, nuthing wrong with having some necessary chit chat with fellow sisters. Plus some kaurs and singhs have very high avastha and their interaction with each other is just for gurmat reasons. Yes, I really dislike the culture of urban sikhs where u have boys and girls doing hahaa heehee, making each other learn kirtan, using cleverness to trap boys into marrying their girls.... that culture has ruined the anakh of sikhi.... death to this culture.

What roots man. This body is dust.. We came alone and we are going to go alone. All this 'roots' is maya and haummeee..... This world is just a dream. Using surnames like gill, sandhu, virk , maan, dhanoaa, brar is only hurting the sikh panth. Its not jatts, bhapas practice caste system a lot as well.. bhapas have ruined AKJ and Barru Sahib.

What wrong with wearing vulgar clothes.. if u don't commit adultery... When a person has become an amritdhari, he has no right to practice caste. Thats why I feel Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was one of the greatest sikhs to take birth. He completely rooted out the casteism. He gave high government posts to the low caste and make the rich upper caste people bow in front of them.. Pahari rajas met Dasmesh Pita and offered that our entire parrja will become sikh if u prepare a separate bata for us since we are upper caste. But Guru Sahib said NO. Dashmesh pita said the people whom u consider low caste, I will give them sardarian. Pracicing casteism is BIPPRAN KE REET. As long as sikhs practice bipran ke reet, we can never get the tejj of Dashmesh Pita.

Caste is a big evil that is ruining the khalsa brotherhood. Even if sikhs get raaj, there can be fights due to caste. The jatt sikhs will want the pardhan or the jathedaar to be jatt and the fights will start. I think the best way to break the caste evil is for the youth to marry delibrately out of caste and after marriage, only use singh as the surname. I feel any amritdhari who marries out of caste shud be honoured by the panth and any amritdhari who practices casteism in his day to day life shud be boycotted...

Dear Veer, I got nuthing to do with AKJ but if somebody does not read raagmala, its not a kurehit or anti panthic thing. Sri Akal Takht Sahib has given a sikh the right to choose whether he wishes to read raagmala or not. However, I feel openly preaching against raagmala or supporting raagmala is wrong. When a person becomes a sikh, just give him well-written material in favour of raagmala and opposing raagmala and let that person decide what he wants to read or not. In short, openly speaking against raagmala( or supporting raagmala) and writing beers without raagmala, such people are doing disservice to the panth.

I wrote the above post around 40 days back and everyone attacked me for being irrational, crazy.. The last 40 days have been disastrous and we have 'once in a lifetime' financial crisis... Many of my juniors from IIT(IIT's are one of the best institute in Asia) have been laid off. One of my friends who worked in Mumbai in finance and earned 15 lakh p.a was fired yesterday and is under depression... The lives of people have been RUINED in the last 40 days....
