  1. Well, I sympathize with you and understand perfectly the sense of outrage and anger that you feel, More than anything, I guess you feel letdown and disappointed by his actions as well as disgusted by his weakness and irresponsible behaviour, hopefully he can redeem himself in your eyes, maybe if he met a good woman with good qualities he would desist from this self-destructive path, Only with familial support and not abandonment and rage can he overcome this addiction and come to faith, Yet, since he is irreligious it is not particularly suprising that a man would behave like this as it is pretty universal regardless of culture for people with hedonistic mindsets,(though that fact probably won't help you) but please understand that there is nothing in his upbringing that could have caused this and there is nothing that a brother or sister could have ever said or done to have prevented this, it is simply a case of uncontrolled desires deep within him that are possessing him and driving him to act in this way. I guess it is just one of thos things where all you can really do is to preach against it and hope that he feels shame and repents or through his own experiences he realizes the pitfalls of such behaviour and changes, Obviously he's ashamed of doing this or he wouldn't be keeping it secret but to tell your parents would further drive a wedge between you and him , maybe some sort of intervention type situation with his friends etc might help? I've seen people with similar problems cured by family members talking to mahapurukhs, doing bani or akhand paaths, hukamnamas. But the bottom line is that he has to want to change deeply from within (and he probably does, you just have to coax it out of him) Guru's Grace
  2. Extremely elitist and non-visionary for sure, not to mention exclusionistic and revisionistic. any reason why non-amritdharis wouldn't be allowed to get married in there own place of worship? In the Ten Guru's time there was no such injunction so why dream that there was now 300 years latter?
  3. I believe there was one Puratan Bir of Dasam Granth that contained Ugardanti.
  4. A good discussion on this: http://www.sikhsangat.com/lofiversion/index.php/t42774.html If I'm not mistakan Sant Gurbachan Singh ji Bhindranwala started this maryada of chatkha to sugarcanes and coconuts as opposed to goats, I have also heard that Nihangs had done this earlier as well. Afterlife

Brother, rest assured, as your grandmother was a religious woman, she was taken by angels to heaven, Yama's messengers only come for evil, athiestic or tamasic souls, amrit is not necessary for Swarg Lok--read the story of Ajamal in Sri Guru Granth Sahib, amrit is for final liberation--Sach Khand-- which is far beyond Swarag Lok and is eternal, while Gurbani says heaven is only temporary, you will see your grandmother in heaven Brother, have no worry in this regard, Guru's Grace
  6. Jathedar Baba Joginder Singh ji baptises people of all castes at Raqba, what other Dals do is not a reflection on him as he cannot be expected to be omnipresent, Nang Balbir Singh has kept the previous caste-discriminatory policy though he is not a member of any Dal.
  7. the human form is special because it is the only form in which we can realize God, God is real and the point of life is to become conscious of him while living, as the above posters have said it is best to contact a brahmgiani to answer such questions as only they truely know.

  9. freewill is like a subjective security blanket that assures us of agency, bacause it is rooted in the mayavic belief that we are this body and mind as opposed to an eternal atma in Sikhism it says that man can do nothing, everything is preordained, whether freewill existed or not the system of karma is unfair, but if freewill existed how could God be all-knowing? It would imply that God is limited, if he created all beings and is omniscent meaning he knows everyones fate and future as Gurbani says He does how could there be freewill? if God knows the future it is preordained Milton's Paradise Lost is a classical text that supports freewill, the Sikh Gurus do not, if it helps one to believe in it that is fine, yes well the causer of it all is Kal who is permanently debarred from Sach Khand which I believe is a fitting punishment for someone who created karma and reincarnation, Sikhism above all encourages us to recognize God's will over our mind's will
  10. You are right, I agree completely, now philosophically I understand 'why' it is unfair etc, as we have been discussing here, but how could karma be fair? think about it, you do sins in your past life, you are punished in hell etc, you go through animal rebirths where you have no self consciousness and untold sufferings and then you are reborn as a blank slate human and you are basically a puppet on a stage being pulled by the strings of past acts that you have no knowledge of so that you are forever bouncing between pain and pleasure and being punished for seemingly no reason, it would have been much more efficent if we knew what we did wrong in the past, then if we got cancer, we could say 'oh, I got cancer because I poisoned that king in my past life, now my suffering at least makes sense' but we don't even have that. The reason karma is unfair is because it comes from Kal who demands an eye for an eye, whereas Dayal (Akal Purukh) actually gives mercy to his disciples and destroys crores of sins, mountains of sins in a single glance, so if you are under the care of a brahmgiani--life becomes fair so to speak because they are working for your liberation from this unfair system eternally.
  11. Sant Baljinder Singh ji Rara Sahib Fri Sat at Nanaksar 144 Kennedy Brampton, Baba Gurdyal Singh ji same time and place today Dasmesh Darbar 7:30

  13. Brother, psychologists and sleep researchers have scientifically proven that by balancing your sleep (i.e going to bed at the same time and waking up at the same time evry day) that sexual thoughts are naturally diminished because proper dreaming cycles allow the mind to properly balance itself including psychosexual stimuluses that are integral parts of our biological being, try to avoid the things that stimulate you i.e tv etc and really try to fill your time with more spiritual activites like meditation. 14. Thanks Fresh Singh ji, Veer Jap Har Har ji, it's all there in the Creation PDF. Also 'Niranjan' is the name Kabir ji uses for Kal. Guru's Grace
  15. Veerji, I am not aware of any translations here, but earlier in this thread I posted a summary of some of the teachings found therein, basically Kal was one of the first created beings by Akal Purukh, Kal desired to be a God like Waheguru and rule over his own creation so he did bhagti for 70 yugs, Akal Purukh then gave him the power to create some vast heavens and regions below SachKhand, Kal again meditated for 60 yugs and took billions of souls from Akal Purukh by enticing them with Maya into the lower creation including this earth where he bound them by karams in lakh chaurasi so that he could rule over the three worlds.
  16. Actually I agree with you that karma is not fair, this is really a conundrum that nobody can answer based on Anurag Sagar I would say that there are two forces in creation-Akal and Kal, the gross karma of lakh chaurasi that we experience on this earth is the contrivance of Kal, the original seperation of souls from Akal was Hukam or God's order, it is interesting to note that there were billions of souls who did not leave Akal Purakh in the begining and thus have been in Sachkhand since then, while we are in the other unluckier group, the mercy that descends from Akal to bring souls back to Sachkhand comes through the grace of Sachkhand Vasis like Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji or Kabir Sahib who descend to earth and destroy the viscious karmas of their disciples and thus pay their debt to Kal, because Kal asked for the lower creation and the souls which he got from Akal due to his tapasaya of 60 and 70 yugas.
  17. Good question, again if you read Anurag Sagar you will see that even the original souls in Sachkhand had differences, they were not identical beings though in glory they were the same, i.e Giani in the story was absorbed in Purush and Kal was not, the 16 sons all were completely differnt in terms of 'personality' and 'attractions' if we can speak of such things there. also the actions of the souls were not identical in their 'original sin' as they were each attracted to different things in the lower regions thus creating different desires which would manifest in differing karmic destinies latter, it can also be said that since this was all Akal's Hukam he had inscribed the destiny of all incarnations on each soul leading up to when they would be reunited with Him and as obviously being differnt destinies, as in Gurbani it states that in the begining Akal inscribed the destinies on each soul'd forehead. so the underlying reason is only known to Sri Akal Purakh, Gurbani has said that the One desired to become Many also as I stated earlier, as these souls descended from Sachkhand they spent time in lower planes like Karam Khand, Saram Khand and lower planes that Kabir calls Trikuti or Gian Khand in such places each soul would have had different interactions in which different subtle karmas and attractions/repulsions were created which would constitute their earthly karma during their first incarnation, now when they left Sachkhand the souls were handed over to Kal and Maya and so it was up to them to entangle them in karmas
  18. Above all it is a very interesting interpretation, I know some Western scholars are studying it and some books in english have been published on it, Well, Anurag Sagar represents the teachings of Kabir in his three previous births in Sat Yug, Treta, Dwapur (an account of all three incarnations is given in the text) and so he taught this fall from heaven long before Abrihamic religions even came into existence, Sri Guru Granth Sahib says that 'the ones sepreated from countless births--He rejoins' and also that we have been seperated from God for millions of births, for me, Anurag Sagar begins to answer the reason 'why' that happened I have yet to find any other such theory or interpretation that adequetly answers that question, also if Bhagat Kabir ji wrote it, there must be some genuine validity to it. Guru's Grace
  19. bit of a summary: Kabir to Dharam Das (Kabir’s devotee): How GOD created the creation. This is quite different as compared to Vedas/Puranas because all the Vedas/Puranas tells the stories how world was creation after Brahma/Vinshu/Shiv. But the following narration tells us how creation was created and how the trinity was created. 1. GOD created the souls, and looking at them HE felt very happy. 2. The GOD created 16 sons uttering the Shabads: All the sons (1 through 16) meditate on SAT-PURASH and eat nectar. The limitless beauty of the worlds created cannot be described. All worlds get light from the Light of Sat Lok. Even the sun and moon shine with the Light of one hair of Purush. a. 1st Shabad: "Worlds" and "oceans" were created. HE made the throne of the 4 worlds and sat on the lotus. Where GOD sat, desire was created. In the WILL of SATPURASH 88,000 islands were created. In all the worlds HIS desires exists. b. 2nd Shabad: "Kurma" was created with the desire of remaining attached to HIS feet. c. 3rd Shabad: "Gyan" was born. When he came before Sat Purush and bowed down to Him, HE ordered him to go into creation. d. 4th Shabad: "Vivek" was born. He was ordered to live in creation by Sat Purush. e. 5th Shabad: A brilliant light came into existence. A son named "Kal Niranjan" was incarnated. He is created from the most glorious part of the body of Sat Purush that is why he troubles the soul. f. 6th Shabad: "Sehaj" was born. g. 7th Shabad: "Santosh" was created who was given permission to go into creation. h. 8th Shabad: "Surat/Attention" was created who was given permission to go into creation. i. 9th Shabad: "Infinite Happiness" was created. j. 10th Shabad: "Forgiveness" was created. k. 11th Shabad: "Nishkam" was created. l. 12th Shabad: "Jal-Rangi" was created. m. 13th Shabad: "Achint/Worrilessness" was created. n. 14th Shabad: "Love" was created. o. 15th Shabad: "Din Dayal" was created. p. 16th Shabad: "Patience" was created. q. 17th Shabad: "Yoga" and "Sants" were created. 3. "Kal Niranjan" did the devotion of GOD for 70 yugas standing on one leg. a. GOD/Sat-Purash was pleased by him, GOD asked him for something as boon and then Kal requested to have some place to live. GOD told him to go to "Mansarovar" and he went there. 4. Again "Kal Niranjan" did the devotion of GOD for 70 yugas standing on one foot. a. GOD asked "Sehaj" to inform Kal that HE is pleased with Kal Niranjan, and tell him that I have already given him(Kal) 3 worlds to live and what is the purpose of his devotion again. b. "Sehaj" transfered the message to "Kal" and "Kal" requested that “He didn’t like this small place. HE should bless me with either the world of Gods or a seperate new world". c. "Sehaj" forwarded this to GOD and GOD ordered him to convey HIS message to "Kal" that he can create his own creation (void plane) there. Now, "Kal" asked "Sehaj" "How to create the universe? How can I develop it? How can I create 9 universes as ordered by GOD? Give me what I need to create the universe." d. "Sehaj" conveyed the message to GOD, and GOD told him that: "All that is needed for creation are within Kurma; taking them from him, Dharam Rai should do his work. He should go to him and, bowing his head, should ask him for what he needs." e. "Kal" went to "Kurma" with happiness and Pride and did not salute him. Dharam Rai walked around Kurma in anger, considering how to get the materials of creation from him. Kal attacked the heads of Kurma with his nails and the following things came out in latent form (and not complete or physical form) i. Breaking his (Kurma) stomach; air came out. ii. From the three heads of Kurma the dynasty of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh came out. iii. Five elements came out, including the sky with the moon, sun and stars; they all came out of him. iv. Matsya, Shesh Nag, Varah, and the pillars to support the earth came out, and in this way the creation of earth started. v. When Kal pulled the head of Kurma, sweat came out, when that drop of sweat spread; the earth started floating on it. vi. From the stomach of Kurma, his son Kurma was born-on whom Shesh Nag and Varah were erected. Recognize the head of Shesh Nag as the earth, below whom the son Kurma resides. vii. The created son of Kurma is in the egg, while the original Kurma lives separately in Sat Lok, where he meditates on Sat Purush as before. viii. "Kurma" said to Sat Purush: "Nirankar came at me with full force and manifesting his character climbed on my body: He tore my stomach and didn't obey your orders.” ix. Then Sat Purush said this to Kurma: "He is your younger brother. This is the way of the older ones: they should not pay attention to the bad qualities of the younger, and they should love them." Hearing the words of Sat Purush, Kurma was pleased. He was the form of nectar, and remained forever in happiness. 5. Again "Kal" did the devotion for 64 yugas standing on one foot: He thought "Without the Seed, what do I do with the heavenly world, the mortal world, and the world below? How do I make body?” He was determined to get life for the worlds. a. GOD again sent "Sehaj" to "Kal" to ask: "What new thing does he ask for now?" and asked "Sehaj" to give him everything he needs to create the universe. "Tell him to create the universe, leaving all deceptions." b. "Kal" asked "Give me some place where I can dwell(a permanent place to live)". "Sehaj" told him that "Whatever came out from Kurma's stomach, Sat Purush has ordered to give to you. You have been given the Kingdom of the three worlds! Now, without any fear, create the universe." c. "Kal" asked "Tell Sat Purush I beg Him to give me the Seed for the field of my creation. I am His servant and do not rely on any one else. Daily I remember Him.". d. "Sehaj" conveyed the message to GOD. Then Sat Purush in HIS Will created a female who had eight parts in her body. She had eight hands, and came and stood on the left side of Sat Purush. Her name was "Adhya/Ashtangi/Bhavani/Great Maya)". e. "Adhya" was told by GOD: "Daughter, go to Dharam Rai/Kal. Take hold of that which I give you, and meeting with Dharam Rai, create the universe.” Then Sat Purush gave her the Seed of the jiva (for 84 lakh joonis), whose name is Sohang/Jiva. She was given the Root Seed of eighty-four lakhs of births. She went to create the living universe, after bowing her head to Sat Purush. All this was given to the first woman, who went to Mansarovar. Sat Purush created 3 powers: Fearlessness, Consciousness of Himself, and Ulghani. f. GOD sent "Sehaj" to "Kal" to disclose this information: "The Root Seed has been sent to you. Now you can create the universe as you like. Go and live in Mansarovar, so that the universe can be created." 6. Kal Niranjan came and settled in Mansarovar. He looked at “Adhya” and by looking at every single part of her body he became impatient, and he swallowed the woman. 7. Sat Purush cursing Kal: Sat Purash remembered what had happened to Kurma: how Kal had also attacked him to control him, and had destroyed his three heads knowing this character of Kal, Sat Purush cursed him.
