Well on the day of diwali, top floors of parkarma is off limit as sewadars will be preparing all fireworks.. See if you can get the permission and get on the top of the Baba Attal Sahib (you can see the whole complex and even Amritsar city from the top). Baba Atal sahib is now closed due to the lady who jumped from the top floor couple of months ago. On Diwali the complex will be full and it's usually a good time for fotographers to take pictures.. To take pictures inside of harmander sahib or from places where normal sangat are not allowed, you have to get the permission from the Manager or anyone from the Harmander Sahib informational office located nearby the entrance of the Complex. It's hard to get permission but if you are in confidence and can tell few names or if your job/post is important then you may get the permission.. I went there twice but never got the permission but was lucky to have the sewadars opening the baba Atal Sahib for us.. Few days ago Hotel Astoria is undegoing major upgrading?? not sure but i think there's huge construction going on nearby, so i would suggest to look around for the better quiet place.. Maybe try CJ Niwas (never stayed there) but i guess from the roof top you may get the pictures of the diwali fireworks.. Good luck ! also.. sikhs follow nanakshai calendar which is not the hindu calender (Bikrami is the name of that calender.. i guess)

It's the proper idea whcih will works for only who are mature and more broad mind type of ppl. They should introduce the "age limit" and should explain clearly about dating and sikhi before starting such services. Finding partner in this world is hard for any sikh because not everyone is well connected and we are very less in population (mostly abroad).. so in conclusion such services is good but some steps need to be taken to clear the mis understanding etc..

I agree with bhainji singhni84. Wear kirpan in that form. Key gal kirpan tikdey nahey tenu us jaga? Also stop calling "It's ritual etc..." Before calling something ritual etc.. you have to be very learned person. So stop making a trend of calling everything "RITUAL" etc..

Start the Gurdwara Sudhar Lehar in UK, just like it worked in India in the early 1900's. It is very important to name the protest. Those who are going to protest.. Please go in peace and come in peace.. If you look in our history, our elders always protested in peace with Naam Simran mind. Go in heavy numbers and even if you have to do hunger strike.. do it !

You cannot rule unless you have political ground for your people. Our leaders are stooges and misleading everybody. Sikhs success is that they feed the whole country and i think there is no other work which is bigger than that. Sikhs are not behind in all type of fields as you mentioned. They are tons of sikh success cases in Delhi, bombay, ludhiana and other places. Sikhs are maybe behind because of government rules, sanctions that put on that state of punjab where majority of the indian sikh population lives. Whenever forgein company wants to open their headquarters in punjab, CENTER (delhi) discourage them and label punjab as "DISTURBED" area. Recently, whenever UK Royal family or PM of canada plans to visit Amritsar, center advise them and discourage them to visit by saying "DISTURB" area. Now you tell me how common sikhs can rose to sucdess when outsider of the state is calling your home as "Disturbed".
