  2. Bhai Panthpreet Singh Sant Baba Seva Singh Ji Rampur Khera Wale
  3. I was just wondering if someone could please explain to me the importance and relevance of having shastar prakash in front of Guru Ji's Palki.
  4. You gotta admit though, that tune is quite catchy.
  5. I like the idea of reciting Anand Sahib and having the salok read just as the clock is about to strike midnight. Any other ideas? Please share
  6. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! I've started this topic to find out and get some ideas on how your Gurdwara celebrates new year's eve. Surely, there is no better way to start off the new year at the stroke of midnight than at the charan of Guruji. So what does your Gurdwara do for new years eve? What happens at midnight? Are particular shabads recited? Thanks Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  7. <br /><br /><br /> what i have heard is that the reason they walk with the girl is because she used to cover her face so she couldnt see anything so the male relatives used to help her... this is totally against gurmat... I have heard this as well. This is because the woman use to display "jhund" with her chunni - which covered her entire face and hence was unable to see in front of her. Of course, this was a Panjabi cultural tradition, which is no longer practiced today. However, it was still prevalent up to 20-30 years ago.
  8. Here's another link, http://www.realsikhism.com/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1192337048&ucat=6
  9. That picture is from the famous Sarbat Khalsa of 1986 at Akal Takhat Sahib, when a formal declaration of Khalistan was announced. You can view the picture here: http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Sarbat_Khalsa
  10. Such a sweet voice, one can truly see that Bhai Rama Singh Ji truly was blessed with Naam, and this Naam resonated to others when he spoke. A true gem of the panth. Dhan Guru, Dhan Guru Pyare!
  11. I think I may have heard or read somewhere that Sant Baba Mohan Singh Ji of Damdami Taksal also published a teeka of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib. Could someone verify this?
  12. Matheen Veer Jeo, what about pandit Narain Singh ji's steek of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib? Im planning to get it soon, could you confirm if its complete in that its got charitars as well? Thanks! PJS Veerji I am doing ardaas for you so you can quickly get Giani Narain Singh ji's sateek and share it with sangat. I understand this will be a laborious task, and if I could in any way help out, I would. The least I can do is do ardaas that you keep in chardi kala in this endeavor.
  13. The link mentioned above contains writings by Pritpal Singh Binda, a Canadian who has translated Charitropakhyan and Hikayats. It must be mentioned that sangat be careful and be advised that Bindra is no authority on Sri Dasam Granth as he has done no research on the subject, nor does he have any qualifications to translate any portion of Sri Dasam Granth because he has self-admitted that he lack knowledge of Brij language. Furthermore, he has self-declared that he doesn't believe Sri Dasam Granth to be the writings of Guru Gobind Singh. It is interesting to note that if he don't belief this to be Gurbani, then why waste your time and translate portions of Sri Dasam Granth and distribute it in public? Therefore, his views must be scrutinized. This is not an authentic translation of Hikayats.
  14. I like how you've specially set aside time to drink milk, yet fail to mention when get ready (e.g. put on your clothes/tie a dastaar). Unless you go to school nanga, ahaha! BTW, do you drink warm milk (desi style) with almonds ?
  15. Let us all do an ardaas for the family to help them bear through this unfortunate loss. Let us also do another ardaas that these dushts be caught and for justice to be served.
  16. I am quite pleased about this project being undertaken by Bhai Kamalpreet Singh. Satgur Ji Kirpa Karan and keep him in chardi kala to carry out his immense seva. This will allow a whole new generation to seek inspiration from our great Sikh history as narrated by Kavi Santokh Singh. There are many sateeks in available in Panjabi and numerous kathavaachaks have done katha on Suraj Prakash, but rarely have I seen anything conducted in English. BTW, does anyone know who has compiled the English translation?

  18. Dear Taksaalisingh Veer Jio!!! I would be greatly indebted and highly appreciative if you please share Gyani Narain Singh Ji's sateek of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib. I have heard a lot of "mehma" of this sateek, as Gyani Thakur Singh frequently references it through out his katha of Jaap Sahib bani, however I have never been able to obtain a copy. Gyani Narain Singh ji had profound knowledge of Sanskrit and Brij languages . This teeka, compiled in the early 20th century, is considered to be one of the most authentic translations of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's bani. Satgurji kirpa karan. I anxiously await.
  19. Who authored the sateek? If it has been done by Gyani Narain Singh then I would be highly interested in reading it because he has done sateek of entire Sri Dasam Granth Sahib and this version has been considered authoritative amongst many scholars.
  20. Dear Mohinder Pal, Whereas that story may explain the mythical aspect of refraining to consume garlic, I fail to see how/why Guru ji would base reasoning based on that claim. From what I have heard and read is that garlic and onions are considered to be "tamasic" (or "tammo gun" in Panajbi) energy items, which, according to Brahmins, neither benefit you physically or spiritually.
  21. Gur Pyari Sadh Sangat Ji, Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I'm not sure if sangat is aware of this youtube channel http://www.youtube.c...SachKhojAcademy I happened to stumble upon it the other day and was quite impressed by this amazing katha. Nihang Dharam Singh has done an immense seva of doing katha of various banis from both Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Sri Dasam Granth Ji. I highly recommend everyone to please listen to these videos and enlighten yourselves with Guru ji's gyaan as told by Nihang Dharam Singh.

    Neeldhari?

I checked out that website, neeldhari.weebly.com Can someone please tell me why there are 2 pictures of the so called "Kili Wale Maharaj" wearing a blue coloured safari hat on top of his dastaar ??
  24. The first time I heard of Bhai Gurbachan Singh Thailand, I actually like his lectures. BUT then, the truth slowly started to emerge, and unfortunately I soon realized that this person is another person out there to lead sangat astray. I was watching a recent interview of him in Canada. He was claiming that Bachitra Natak, Gur Bilas Pathshahi 6, Sri Gur Pratap Sooraj Granth, and Praatcheen Panth Prakash are NOT related to Gurmat. The amazing thing is that he just makes these kind of blanket statements without providing any reasoning or logic or any basic argument explaining his opposition to these historically openly-accepted pieces of eminent Sikh literature. I was watching the interview and he actually said, "After the passing of Guru Gobind Singh, for over 200 years, there was no institute that existed to spread or explain the message contained in Gurbani". I was just stunned and felt like going up to the Bhai Sahib and shouting "have you never heard of Damdami Taksal?". He also openly condems the jathas that do simran while doing kirtan.
  25. Why didn't Mr. Lamba call up "Prof" Darshan Singh and ask him to explain his reasoning for slandering Sri Dasam Granth and using such derogatory language toward's Guru ji? I honestly think that this issue needs to be finalized once and for all. Akal Takhat needs to take the initiative of holding a meeting and engaging a discussion between pro Dasam Granth and anti Dasam Granth bodies to resolve the issue. The longer we stand aside and allow these guru nindaks to spew their venom of falsehood and conspiracy, the more damage they will do (and are doing) to our Sikh roots and generation of tomorrow's Sikhs.
