  1. We all know how SGPC works no wonder.... but the "SIKHS" singing and dancing inside Harimander Sahib should have known better...... Our values are eroding really fast........
  2. "Sources said an MLA from Punjab, a dera emissary and a senior intelligence official were present when Sarna provided the information about the breakthrough in the deadlock." "Sarna told The Tribune that the apology letter was signed by the dera and it should not have any problems in being accepted. He revealed that the DSGMC was working behind the scene to persuade the dera chief to see reason." True Colors are showing up now. So much for our leaders.......
  3. I agree.... there were couple of donation events last year and they should be made permanent. S1NGH veer might shed some light on that. Gurughars and individuals like us try to help out such poor people. Please keep this forum updated if anybody sets up a dontation fund for this cause.
  4. This is my take from a katha by bhai pinderpal ji. He was answering question as to why we need to read bani without understanding a single word. He gave two analogies: 1. When a doctor prepares medicine he knows what chemicals will work together to fight disease. The sick person by no means need to know its contents for medicine to work. It will work irrespective someone has in depth knowledge of chemicals or not. similarly bani/gurmantar will work to cleanse our souls of the disease of 5 evils. 2. Similarly we don't have to understand how food is digested in our body so that it can provide us nourishment. We simply have to eat and consume it. Just like food for body, bani is food for our soul and we just need to nourish it. Just like food and medicine take time to effect out body, similarly reading bani and chanting on HIS name will cleanse our soul and finally our inner eyes can open to see The One.
  5. Rubia slips too. FULL-VEIL is thin and it isn't silky. I second that. Full wail is really thin and rubia is thick. I've tried both and now use rubia-wail. full wail is very thin and light while rubia is on heavier side....
  6. No offense veerji, but i could not agree to unlocking car with cell phone so searched for this urban legend on snopes.com. http://www.snopes.com/autos/techno/keyless.asp
  7. Personally i feel that its maya that comes to us and engulfs our soul.... I've seen how newborn infants and 1-2 yr old kids have no attachment to any materialistic things until elders around them start teaching them concept of "Meri - Teri" (mine and yours).... and in no time they are bonded with their toys...... On the concept of Maya being referred as female.... per one of kathas i heard, God created maya which created whole universe... so just like females give birth to newborns, God created universe thru maya..... i'm sure someone would explain it in better way.... just my 2 cents.
  8. That is so true. It took me 3 months to complete listening japji sahib katha.... and the worst part is i forgot most of it... there is only so much I can absorb. But you can listen to his other kathas which are much shorter... "saka chamkaur" is one. He describes it so vividly that you can imagine being there watching everything and feeling it. It is avaialble on ikirtan. The best message that impacted me was his analogy of gursikh with formation of pearl. He said like the shell of pearl we all have our mouths wide open consuming maya and living in our ego. But when bani like distilled drop of water enters, the mouth closes and the shell starts going down and down, deep in the ocean. Similarly gursikh becomes humble. And after years staying deep in ocean under pressure, the water drop becomes precious pearl... Its only by grace of guruji that such humbleness is achieved and we can become true gursikhs..... but it takes time and perseverance.....
  9. If you get chance listen to japji sahib katha by bhai pinderpal ji. He is amazing. Full of humbleness and nimrata.....
  10. I would love to, but it was way back that i heard it. It was probably katha of sukhmani sahib or japji sahib, i dont remember for sure. He describe before anything there was GOD and God alone. And with ray of light maya was created, through which everything else. So in essence God is in everything but most souls stay in maya's loop. only few manage to break away and merge into source.
  11. Veerji first step is acknowledging existence of maya and its influence on our lives. It is only by doing ardas to Almighty that we can standup to maya. I remember hearing a sakhi from giani thakur singhji. He said God created maya and then maya created everything. So most ppl can't see beyond maya, only chosen few have the capacity to see and stand upto it. For mortals like us we need guru's blessing to standup.
  12. No Offense, but how long will Rs 2 Lakh last? with devalued Rupee, 2 lakh Rs is nothing. The loss to shaheed's family is immense. Sikh organisations and Panth should pledge to support his children and family. Lets not add one more martyr in the list of thousands forgotten ones.
  13. Dera leader apologises.......????? I dont see a word of apology... http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story...EWEN20070012509 Randeep Singh Nandal, Vikram Choudhary, Sunetra Ch Friday, May 18, 2007 (Sirsa, Sangrur, Patiala) After a five-day standoff between Sikhs and Dera Sacha Sauda followers in Punjab Dera leader Baba Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim has apologised to the Sikh community for hurting their sentiments. In a tape released by the Dera Sacha Sauda, Baba Gurmeet said he did not intend to show disrespect to Guru Gobind Singh. ''I had no intention of imitating or being disrespectful to Guru Gobind Singh. I had absolutely no intention of equating myself with Guru Gobind Singh. This is a misunderstanding that is causing a lot of needless harm and it should be cleared,'' he said. There were violent clashes between Sikhs and Dera Sacha Sauda followers after a picture of Dera Sacha Sauda leader Baba Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim showing him dressed in the attire of Guru Gobind Singh and baptising people appeared in most newspapers on Sunday. There's been tension between the Akal Takth and the Dera Sacha Sauda ever since Dera leaders threw their weight behind the Congress in the recent assembly elections, accusing the Akalis of victimising their leaders. Thousands of Dera followers and Sikhs faced off over the week with clashes in many place. The situation turned increasingly political with the BJP, the coalition partner in Punjab, criticising the Akalis' handling of the situation. Attacks on Dera followers Earlier, the Akal Takth had said there would be no question of accepting an apology from Dera Sacha Sauda. In Sirsa, Haryana, where the Dera is headquartered, about 30,000 men and women gathered to protest the attacks on them by the Sikhs. Meanwhile in Sangrur on Friday thousands gathered to cremate a Sikh protester who was killed in clashes with police and Dera followers in Sonam on Thursday night. Sikhs in Sonam burned two homes of Dera followers in retaliation on Friday. But now, with the Dera leader apologising, there is hope that tempers in Punjab will finally simmer down.
  14. guru sahib is still here veer  sikh jad tak bani naal nahi jurda, kuch ni bunna. shout all the slogans and protest all we might, but untill sikhs walk the path laid down by guru sahib, nothing will bet accomplished. :TH: So true. We need more singhs with jeewan leading this morcha for it to be successful, otherwise it will end up like another political stunt....
  15. http://www.tribuneindia.com/2007/20070517/punjab1.htm#37 The photograph angle The Sikh bodies-Dera Sacha Sauda clash may take a new turn as the latter claimed that they had a number of photographs of senior Akali leaders seeking blessings from dera chief Baba Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh. Talking to The Tribune from Sirsa, Tilk Raj, a senior functionary of the dera, claimed that leaders of various political parties, including the SAD, used to visit the dera, especially near the elections. In case the dera releases such pictures, it will be difficult for the SAD and the SGPC to spearhead the agitation. What can you expect from these fake akalis.... I'm surprised that Mr Mann has been quiet on this so far, or his voice is not being projected by media? Another big reason why we need SIKH presence in media.
  16. i dont know why I feel this is politically motivated. sacha sauda supported congress in last elections, BJP, navjot sidhu went to this baba to get his support and blessings. Now SAD/BJP is trying to water down baba's influence. Sikhs should not expect a lot from punjab govt. or SGPC. badal will only try to leverage this situation to undermine baba and win his support. If sikh jathebandis can't do anything now, this will pass just like bhaniara issue and political players will achieve their goal.
  17. Birthday Greetings Vicky Singh. May Guruji Bless you with more sikhi.
  18. Was is really the Ali guy who thought of "demolishing" the gurughar or someone big behind the whole story..... I personally feel there is more to the story... ludhiana is strong BJP area and by making muslims do such things and then BAJRANG DAL running to help sikhs, they are trying to send out their message of hating muslims. Only thorough investigation can reveal truth. This might seem like conspiracy theory to someone, but i think there is much bigger picture and different people behind this incident.
  19. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/AC_plan...how/1965761.cms When will these masands stop ruining gurughars. AC plans for Golden Temple Ramaninder K Bhatia [27 Apr, 2007 l 1433 hrs ISTlTIMES NEWS NETWORK] CHANDIGARH: For a religious shrine which strongly resisted introduction of electric bulb at the turn of last century, this is surely a great 'leap'. After having dropped the move to get heritage status for Sikhs' most revered shrine, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), it is learnt, is keen on installing air-conditioners inside the sanctum sanctorum of Harmandar Sahib. In a move, which is likely to invite stiff criticism from heritage lovers and conservationists, the SGPC has invited tenders for installing ACs, CCTVs and jammers inside the complex. The first two are a security requirement for the entire complex and meet everyone's approval, but the ACs are meant for Golden Temple. A SGPC sub-committee which met at Chandigarh on Thursday to deliberate on the issue, took technical details from a representative of a company to determine whether the move would cause any long-lasting damage to the nearly 400-year-old building that has born the brunt of restoration efforts by those who have scant idea of either heritage or means of conservation. The fears of those resisting the AC installation move were confirmed when the representative of the company told members that this would require at least "boring a minimum 4" hole in the wall for the wiring." The matter has now been referred to design consultants, sources said. Chairman of the committee Raghujit Singh Virk, however, told TOI: "We haven't taken a decision, deliberations are still on." The move, it is learnt, was initiated about an year back, after a political VVIP started visiting the Darbar Sahib once a month. Some of the ragijathas are also learnt to have complained of the tremendous humidity inside the shrine, especially during afternoon hours. SGPC president Avtar Singh was asked to explore the possibility of installing ACs, but some of the members are learnt to have expressed dissent saying it was technically not feasible without causing damage to the historical building.
  20. http://www.tribuneindia.com/2007/20070417/main4.htm BJP not to play second fiddle to SAD Sarbjit Dhaliwal Tribune News Service Chandigarh, April 16 The BJP leadership today categorically told Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal that it had joined the SAD- led government to be an equal partner and not to play second fiddle in it. Led by president of the Punjab unit of the BJP Avinash Rai Khanna, the BJP members of the coordination committee held a lengthy meeting with Badal. Manoranjan Kalia, BJP minister and leader of the party in the Vidhan Sabha, and Navjot Sidhu, BJP MP from Amritsar and representative of the central leadership of the BJP in the coordination committee, attended the meeting. At the meeting Badal was accompanied by his core team of officers, including chief secretary Ramesh Inder Singh and principal secretary Darbara Singh Guru. Sources said the BJP, which was clear about the fact that the Badal government was dependent on it politically, had a lot to tell to Badal. First of all it said that the BJP’s MLAs and main party workers had the feeling that they were being ignored at every step as far as power sharing in the state was concerned. They informed Badal that there was resentment in the BJP because of its marginalisation as a partner in the government by the SAD. The sources said the posting of deputy commissioners, senior superintendents of police, SDMs, DSPs and other district and subdivisonal-level offices came up for discussion at the meeting. The BJP told Badal that it was a dominant player in six districts of Punjab and wanted the posting of officers of its choice at the top and cutting edge level in those districts. The implementation of the manifesto within a specific time frame and the coming municipal elections were also discussed. The BJP wanted a major share of seats in the municipal elections, it is learnt. Among the districts that figured at the meeting were Amritsar, Jalandhar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Ropar. “Badal was told to evolve a mechanism to iron out differences on various issues and for the smooth functioning of the government”, said the BJP leader. “If our ministers as well as MLAs cannot protect their constituencies and watch the interests of their supporters while being a part of the government, it could adversely affect the BJP”, said the BJP leader. “Of course, it is the privilege of the Chief Minister to post officers of his choice as district and department heads, but while heading a coalition government he is supposed to give due share to the coalition partner in the matter of filling important slots in the administration”, added the BJP leader. The sources said Badal told the BJP leaders that what had happened so far was because of a communication gap. He had proposed to hold a meeting of the coordination committee once a month to overcome the communication gap problem. The BJP told Badal that it wanted that its four chief parliamentary secretaries (CPSs) should be attached to ministers holding important portfolios. Likewise, four SAD CPSs should be attached its ( BJP) ministers. http://www.tribuneindia.com/2007/20070417/punjab1.htm#7 Bhandari may head Punjab BJP Tribune News Service Chandigarh, April 16 The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Punjab unit is about to see a power shift. Hardcore RSS man Rajinder Bhandari, who was overlooked for the party ticket in the recent assembly poll, is tipped to succeed Avinash Rai Khanna as the next president of the unit. Well-placed sources in the party said today that a formal announcement in this regard would be made in a few days. Bhandari is seen close to Arun Jaitley and also to Avinash Rai Khanna. Khanna was also backed by the RSS when he was chosen as president. The president of the BJP unit will also be on the all-powerful SAD-BJP coordination committee, which also has Navjot Singh Sidhu and Manoranjan Kalia as its other members. Bhandari’s name was also supported by Harjit Singh Grewal, former national secretary and confidant of BJP chief Rajnath Singh. Grewal, Avinash Rai Khanna and Bhandari are seen as a well-knit group.
  21. Does anyone know where Hi resolution copies of such pictures could be found? or better actual painting?
  22. I had chance to meet them a couple of times. My grandmother did tremondous sewa of sant jawala singhji and our family got o harakhowal quiet often. He is down to earth person with spiritual aura. Namastang can you upload the kathas and old videos somewhere?
  23. The concept of bhana is too hard to accept for us manmukhs. And as Papi veerji's katha stated, without guru's hukum and bhana, we cant do anything on our own. My parents started me doing path back in high school, but was only in college that i really started understanding and feeling God. Now i look back and see how lost I was. The worst thing is now being fully aware of things, i'm still not doing enough. I feel we mortals can only do ardas to guruji and ask for forgivenss and blessing of naam and sewa. After a long time, this is really a great thread and i enjoyed reading it. Papi veerji keep your ideas flowing.
