I know more families who are hair keeping singhs but not amritdharis that chant name just like any amritdhari's , maybe more. Majority is of the cut surd punjabis. Step into the world, and youd be surprised how many of them do sewa and jap naam just like you, if not more. Lets say the rest half are Hair keeping Singhs, but most of them are not amritdhari. Again...step out of the limited viewpoint and you will find how many of them do the same sewa as you if not more and love god the same way. Sorry brother, but answering to your views coul;dnot be just typed out in one paragraph. Hence, I answered with my views for each topic seperately. Please donot get me wrong, I in no way say that a Gursikh can live without cutting his hair, NO, never. Well, Valiance covered most of todays sachai in his post, I think he left out the drugs part, thats what our great singhs of punjab do , mostly college students, aashiqi....getting that other guys girl or even hitting or troubling the college teachers, making fun of them while they are standing in their guy hooligan crowd, then making plans of ambushing the other guys while taking drugs ...to beat them up, so they themselves are more well known in the colleges, ohh..and I forgot to mention how proud they feel while listening to the pendu shittiest ETC punjabi songs, that they think they are super jatts while they dont even have the balls to do proper high grade nasha, just the cheapest of fancii cough syrup bottles and they are UP THERE* in seventh heaven..I know its not my place to judge...but I am disgusted of what punjab is today especially the youth here, one of the main reasons I wanna go back to canada, not that the wannabe wanksters are better off, but there are some quite peaceful places where gurus name is sung from the heart.

^^A very true opinion. Read Bani, listen to kirtan and chant Lord's Naam. Do Japji sahib, sukhmani sahib, rehraas, look up translations to know what they actually mean. Attach (true love/bandhan) yourself to the One lord only..no other. Dont attatch yourself to anyone else.

I am not trying to start an argument, which is mostly one sided since most of you only and only support keeping of hair, which I totally understand and respect. I kept my hair until the 12 th grade, due to some reasons got them cut. I am not an amritdhari, but I chant his name whenever he comes to reside in my mind according to his own will. But saying that you HAVE TO HAVE hair in order for the lord to ever have mercy on you, or bestowing his divine grace on any of his creations, is something I do not think is right. Namdev, did he have hair?. A lot of other saints, those true lovers of the lord on whom the mighty lord bestowed his grace, some of whom did not keep hair. The great guru's say, do not engage in foolish arguments, by your saying and thinking (eg brahmins, pandits who became gurus by wearing a thread upon their body) your arguments are all false, inwardly pure in this kalyuga age, one in millions is truly pure, by chanting his name we may all be saved, not by the necessity to keep hair. Saying that, I fully understand our tenth guru asking us to keep hair and the other 4 gifts of his. I dance around in this world, as the The Maharaj, the sultan, my thakur wills me to dance. When and if he shall command/will me to keep hair, I will humbly follow. But nothing is more important than chanting his name. Har Har Vaheguru

Gurmukh's are free from bandhan, bondage, sukhmani sahib and other bani's state that, yet it is so so hard, not to attach yourself to the other sex especially when you are about to become life partners (marriage). How long have you known her? Let me just take a wild guess, just an assumption, 6 months or a year. In that period of all the opening up, talking on the phone, days, nights, and everything in between like the dreams. Did you discuss the names of your kids yet? Maybe..maybe not. Let me tell you about this guy who loved this girl (just an example so that you can compare your situation with others), the girl loved him too back then. She was in high school, hadnt yet stepped out of the house that much, hadnt seen the world in its true colors. The guy went away for 4 years, he made mistakes, flirted with other girls, yet his conscience or God's will kept him from having sex with other women. He loved her, just like you love her in that short period of your engagement until you found out about the lies. Anyways after some time the guy started to earn some good money, working like a dog you can say. Then he called her day and night from half the world away ..every single day for 3 to 4 hours. 600$ buks on long distance a month, apart from the rings from a diamond store, just so she feels a lil less lonely until he gets back, because currently as per immigration, he just just cant pack up and go. They werent married yet, but it was much more than that for him...the true love, the match made in heaven, and he thought it was the same for her. Maybe it was the same for her..for some time, but she was in college now...15-20 guys behind her etc and she thought she could get much better/richer/ more successful guys than the first guy, things started changing...guy came back...he tried his best...overdid a lot of things.
