  3. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa, Vaheguru ji ki fatheh! In light of the recent events taking place in India and Punjab, and the serious threats of violence being made against the Sikh community from the leaders of the Dera Sacha (Read: Jhootthaa) Sauda cult, there have been many meetings in the Sikh community to bring forth a resolution to this problem. The Cult leader has been ridiculing the Sikh community and imitating the Vaisakhi Khalsa initiation ceremony, modelling himself as a self-proclaimed Guru of the new age. He has been purposefully attempting to hurt the sentiments of the Sikhs by dressing like Guru Gobind Singh ji, creating "7 Stars" as a replica of the Punj Pyare, and trying to duplicate other Sikh practices in order to gain followers. His cult's followers have become increasingly confrontational, violently attacking and injuring innocent Sikh bystanders at public protests and rallies. In response to this, a gathering of all Sikh groups at Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib yesterday denounced the cult and demanded the Punjab & Haryana governments to shut down the cult and arrest their leader within 3 days. Due to this environment, all BC community organizations and groups of all faiths have been invited to attend a community meeting tomorrow, *FRIDAY, MAY 17* at 7pm at Gurdwara Sahib Sukh Sagar on Wood Street in New Westminster, to discuss means of resolution to this conflict and attack against the Sikh community. **Please Note** Due to this situation, the volunteers of Shan-E-Khalsa Gurmat Academy will also be busy in this meeting and the "Sports Day" event on Saturday has been *POSTPONED* until further notice. The volunteers of Shan-E-Khalsa Gurmat Academy would like to humbly apologize to the sangat for any inconvenience and promise to send updates about the event when a new date is scheduled, as soon as (with Guru ji's kirpa) the situation improves. 12. GURU SAHIB blesses Gurdwara Prabhandak Seva to the SIKH YOUTH! September 11, 2006 at 1:35 am Vaheguru ji ka khalsa, Vaheguru ji ki fatheh! _/\_ Gurdwara Sahib Sukh Sagar, New Westminster, BC will be one of only a few "youth managed" Gurdwaras in the world. NEW WESTMINSTER, BC - With the grace and blessings of Akaal Purakh Waheguru, the seva of coordination and management at Gurdwara Sahib Sukh Sagar, in Queensborough, New Westminster, BC was granted to the Sikh youth of BC through a victory of the "Youth Slate" led by Bhai Harbhajan Singh Athwal. The campaign of the BC Sikh youth, which had been initiated several months ago, finally came to a positive conclusion late Sunday night. Towards the end of the evening, as the polls closed at 8:00pm, most of the sangat had positive hopes that Guru Sahib would grant this seva to the panthic youth. At approximately 12:15 am early Monday morning, the election results were officially announced in the darbar at the gurdwara sahib by Bhai Mota Singh Jheeta. About 80 gursikhs were in attendance for the late night proclamation. The official margin of victory between each respective candidate of the panthic vs. anti-panthic slate varied from 63 votes to 100 votes. "Sevak Ko Seva Ban Aaee" Guru Maharaj says the real sevadaar, who does seva in the love of Akaal Purakh, feels that the reward of seva is more seva. So it was no surprise that when asked to speak, the sevadaars newly elected for the gurdwara sahib committee only expressed their gratitude and praise for Akaal Purakh, and their desire to serve the Sikh community with upmost honesty, integrity, and loyalty to the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Bhai Bikramjit Singh Sandher, who will serve as Vice President, praised the efforts of the many gursikhs who committed countless hours of hardwork and dedication, working in unity with many youth groups, jathebandis, gurdwara committees, and general sangat from across BC The Gurdwara Sahib elections, which were held all day yesterday (Sept 10), had a relatively peaceful, coordinated, and positive atmosphere. Throughout the day, Sikh sangat voted in voting centres at New Westminster, Abbotsford, and Surrey, which had the largest turnout and number of registered voters. After the ardaas and speeches were conducted into midnight Monday, many of the attending youth showed faces of relief, and chardee kalaa, and expressed their hopes that with the appointment of a "Youth Slate," this gurdwara sahib will be a gathering place for all of the BC Sikh youth and provide resources for the Sikh youth to learn, engage, inspire, and be spiritually enlightened. Also, with the grace of Guru Maharaj, this gurdwara sahib will now serve as a resouce to reach out to many of those youth who have gone on a wrong path, choosing drugs, alcohol, gangs, and violence over a righteous lifestyle. "Seva Karath Hoae Nehkaamee || This Ko Hoth Praapath Suaamee ||" Guru Maharaj says the sevadaar who does seva with no ulterior motive will be united with Akaal Purakh Waheguru. Some of the speakers, in addition to congratulating the sangat for the victory of the panthic group, made a very important request to all of the sangat and committee members, that since the election was run under the banner of "BC Sikh Youth" and was promoted with the slogan "Vote for Change, Vote for Sikh Youth," that this is shall now be a very big responsibility on the shoulders of the youth, and the parents, community leaders, and Gursikhs in the BC Sikh community should give full support and encouragement to the youth, so that they can avoid mistakes of past generations, and introduce new initiatives and programs for the chardee kalaa of the Sikh community and for the wellbeing of all humanity. "Deg Teg Fatheh! Panth kee Jeeth! Raaj Karega Khalsa! Bole So Nihaal, Sat Sri Akaal!" An official press release from the "youth slate" committee is expected before Tuesday.
