Would anybody at all pleeease explain/show me how to do this question? I dont get any part of it at all, it looks lke caveman writing to me!!!! Please explain it to me fully because it literally makes no sense, i have no basic understanding of gradients and radians, the words make me feel sick... eurghhhh lol oh waheguru! pleaseeeee anybody at all willing to help??? :'(

    1) Find the slope (or gradient) of the straight line: 3 x + 4 y = 4

    2) hence estimate the angle in radians which the line makes with the positive x-axis.

    thank you!

    wjkk wjkf

Whenever you have an equation of the form ax+by=n (where a,b,n are any fixed numbers and x,y are the variables) you need to try to get it into the form y=mx+c by rearranging (where m,c are fixed numbers). Once it's in that stage, the number m gives you the gradient and the number c is the intersection with the y axis (i.e. at x=0).

So we have 3x+4y=4. We don't want a number in front of y, so divide by 4 on both sides, giving (3/4)x+y=1. (3/4 is 0.75 in decimals). Now we want to get just y on one side of the equation, so minus (3/4)x from both sides, giving y= (-3/4)x+1. So now we know the gradient is negative 3/4, or -0.75 in decimals.

Do you know how to find the angle in degrees? Once you know it in degrees, all you have to do is multiply it by (Pi/180) to give you the answer in radians. Finding the angle here requires a little care because the gradient of the line is negative, but you should start by drawing the graph, calculating the intersection with the x axis, then using the tan(gent) relation between opposite and adjacent sides of the triangle to calculate the angle.

Let me know if you need more help.

  2. Sorry Bro - quits. I acknowledge your sentiments.

No probs. My other comment about the IP lookup was for the benefit of the Singh involved to take any precautions necessary. It's easy for anyone to locate one's IP and one's internal IP (which is used by your ISP to locate a specific user on a network), but there are not many who can use the internal IP to locate your address as this would require the cooperation of your ISP. Law enforcement and intelligence can do this, but it's not unheard of for others to gain access to this info through other means (enterprising PIs, an aggressive lawyer, or people with exceptional computer skills).

  3. OK. SO you telling me if I am not connected to the internet. But I have an internal network I won't have an IP for each mschine. Please we upgraded the switches and routers at work I'am no expert about IT but I have been informed a little.

With regards to Sikhi, I have admitted I'm no expert. As for voicing my opinion Hitler, I'll say what I want. Or do you think because I'm not in your gang I'm not entitled to an opinion.

My bad, that was uncalled for on my part. I apologise for making personal remarks, I was just angry at the actions of the SPN bandars. You are of course entitled to your opinions.

The only point I wish to make is that is possible to locate you based on an IP address, even if your machine is part of an internal private network, so yes, the Singh who was threatened would be wise to take precautions.

  4. Er what I'am trying to say? Please read every word! It's not unique to a machine on the internet but to any conncetion on a network.

If you don't know what you are saying, I'm certainly not going to attempt to impute meaning to your disordered ramblings.

The fact of the matter is that, given an IP address, it is quite possible, albeit rather difficult, to find the address of the person on the other end of the connection. See here:

    http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/

Such easily available programs will give you a latitude and longitude of where you are (not the location of your ISP), though they are not completely accurate. Usually only the police and the intelligence services can approach your ISP for an address, but an enterprising PI could do the same.

    Don't try to be clever.

I really wasn't trying, I'm afraid it just comes so very naturally.

Gurdssingh you just joined this site. You are very ignorant of SPN's creators, admins, and mods and leading members character. If you want more knowledge then do a search here. In the past there has been a couple of threads on SPN.

Anyway, PM me if those bewakoof SPN mods continue with their threats. I know many people who practice the dark arts (lawyers).

  5. Hi Only Five,

Take deep breath and calm down. Look I just skim read the post but chill. The Virigin Media address, don't even know if it's accurate, can;t be bothered to check, it's late work in morning. But anyway let me explain Virgin Media address is the address of his internet service provider. Like for example, your from Canada right so um! i'm stuck but like have you heard of the BBC in UK. (they do not provide an internet service, but they are the most famous broadcaster, actually just like say Zee TV or Star / Sony / DoorDarshan etc. But anyways it's like one of their office addresses). Also the IP address, the guys at SikhSangat can check our IP addresses, so can some of the cleaver harry's who are on this site. It means nothing, they can not come to your house in the middle of the night and wake you up and say BOO!. Just go into dos and ping your ip address it means nothing if someone konws your IP address. If someone ever says I know your IP address say OK, I'm shaking it means nothing. It's just like an IT web phone number if that makes sense, but as theres millions of them they won't and can not really find your house.

Er, no. An IP address is unique to a machine connected to the internet. It's not impossible to locate someone based on their IP address if you have the tools and the resources (luckily most people don't).

  6. She is a non-entity, as are most if not all, of the moderators on that forum - an old woman whose only pleasure in life comes from talking crap about a subject she cannot grasp due to her insignificant intellect and her non-existent linguistic training in Gurmukhi.

I would not even bother talking to her. Let her rot, as her brain already clearly has, and take silent pleasure in the fact that the jamdoots will drag her screaming, by her ridiculous hair, into the yawning abyss that awaits her and her kind.

  7. What i have heard Shiva is not a vedic god , he was a dravadian god .

    Can we discuss this .

See Wolf-Dieter Storl's Shiva: The Wild of God of Power and Ecstasy for a discussion of Shiva's historical development. One theory is that he was a pre-Vedic protoshamanic figure who developed from the mythology of Pashupati. In the Vedas Shiva is used as an epithet for the storm god Rudra and in later times Shiva was described as being equivalent to Rudra. What is clear is that, during the Vedic period, neither Shiva nor Vishnu had the importance that they have now and had at the time of our Gurus.

By the by, though it's interesting from a historical and anthropological point of view, to see how the myths of these Indian deities developed, it has no relevance to Gurbani which describes the roles of Shiva and other devatay as being subservient to and deriving their power from Akal Purakh Waheguru.

Apprantly muslims rate this guy highly so It would be great If a sikh person who knows alot about sikhi could have a discussion with this guy and finally put a rest to the false rumours muslims put out there about sikhs.

in the past he has slated the hindu and chrsitan religion in a bid to get them to convert to muslim, when it comes to sikhism it sounds like he either knows very little or he knows if he gets into a debate about sikhi he wont have a leg to stand on.

The only peoploe who are impresed with Zakir Naiklare his mother and some others (and they even hate him). He is a showman, not a scholar, and his "theories" have been destroyed countless times on faithfreedom.org (for example).

  11. Some may say depression in west, however in eastern dharma and Sikhi we would descibe the state as biraag and bringing nirmata (humility) maharaj teaches us to make our self lower then the low to grasp the dust of the feet of the congregation. In pride/ego great corruption comes. In dukh we remember maharaj and without dukh (suffering) we would not have remembered god and the concept of sukh (peace) wouldn't exist. Another example of western psychology contradicting eastern dharma is also partners and marriage, the west propogates ideals of courtship and norm of promiscious behaviour while alot of easter dharma consider this utterly dishonourable and disgraceful, we are a lucky breed of people who can get to pick the best of both worlds and choose not to do 1 thing or the other. This is all Satgur da panne (all in the hands of God, he has written what shall happen). We all really need to help each other, we are one of the only quam who finds pleasure in ruining each other as if we are in some competition with one another. Yogi bhajan talks about this problem even gives his experiences with Baba Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale

We all have a lesson to learn and should really do sarbat da pala, and help Sikhs and everyone else around us. As Sikhs we are a small minority of people 2% of India and smaller percentages around the world sooner or later our blood lines will mix, we are family, we will become family and we always were family even if we consider we all have one father, as a quam we need to help each other like ourselves as Humans we owe alot to this world and alot to do. May maharaj bless us all

Depression is most definitely NOT the same as vairaag. It is an illness, not something that one cultivates to gain humility.

  12. Thanks for the replies, Yes any Sikhs that I speak to say simply say its hukam move on. A lot of the friends I used to see Gursikhs they don't even care about me which really hurts me. I'm still going through a tough time and feel depressed but it is getting better day by day.

From experience, though you may feel that your friends and family are abandoning you or do not care about you, this is not the case. The truth is that no one who has not suffered from a bout of depression or low mood simply cannot understand the depth of loneliness and suffering that comes along with such conditions.

Also, bear in mind that feeling abandoned and neglected is simply fuel for depressive bouts. Such thought patterns will cause you more harm in the long run.

If you are not already doing so, I'd suggest talking to your doctor about counselling or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy if these feelings persist after the material conditions that are causing your feelings of grief have been resolved in your favour. You may also want to read a book by Dorothy Rowe called Depression: The Way Out of your prison to gain some insight into low mood.

  13. hi i am scared, i have been ill for along time now, b4 i had full vishwas and pyar for god, and everytime i got worse i turned to Guruji for help and slowly used to get bk on my feet again. Now for last 3mths i deteriorated quickly becoming physically disabled and even typin is a hard task let alone think. most times i feel i am going to die. at times i lie there n do waheguruji but i cant do anything. i know i should not do this but hand on heart i didnt even realise it was a paap, and dont even realise i,m doing it, i have sworn at Guru Nanak devji and god on few ocassions. at the time i dont realise wat im doing, and also swear at family members and have like mental attacks like pagal dhore as u would say. my family think im possessed, but then i cry afterwards lots and maafi mang from guruji at wat i have done, i honestly dont want to go against god coz at end of day i know he is th only one i have alwys turned to and he alwys helpd me, but now i am so physically weak i dont realise wat i am saying or doing. my family went to see a mahapurukh n said i will get better but to be honest i dont feel i am, and i never ever wanted to say anything bad to guruji, even when path is on i dont want to listen to it, its like i feel its making me weaker, i feel god is so far from me, th more faith i have tried to put in, the worse my actions have got.

i am sooo scared i am going to die now, and that guruji wont make me better, i know now i have done very bad, and guruji wont forgive me, but i honestly dont have any control on this when it happens. i even want to die and ask god to let me go now., even thinking about suicide as i cant go on anymore, i thought god was there but feels likes he's not. i try so so hrd to keep quiet and to tolerate wat is happeing to me, but i dont evn know wats happeining myslf.

is there any mahapurukh in uk that can help me, are they all in india?

i know nobody can help me, only Sri Guru Granth Sahibji can but i feel they have left me now too. i always ask waheguruji to help me, even if i done wrong, then i think wat abt all these other people, i am soo ill dont realse wat im doing, but wat abt others that do. sory if i offended nybody, no actually sorry i offended god.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

First do what Matheen veer has suggested and register so that anyone who has gone through similar experiences can contact you.

Second, tell us (or someone here via PM) when this started, whether you believe anything triggered this experience, and whether you have sought medical attention and what the diagnosis was (and if so, what medication if any you are taking).

Most importantly, you need to let go of any guilt feelings you are harbouring - if things are beyond your control, you have no need to feel guilty. Besides, Guru ji is not going to leave His Sikh for such reasons. :-)

Also, continue to do your paath even if you do not feel it helping. Sometimes the benefits of our bhakti are not obvious but they are there nonetheless.

Thanks for your responses sangatji. Kaljug, I must have read/heard wrong. Thanks for clearing that up. Have you studied this granth? If so can you please summarise what its contents are? Or if you have a copy of the granth scan the table of contents in?

It's a text that for the most part describes Sikh history. Other than that, I don't have any more info because I've only seen extracts.

You may be able to get it from csjs.com.

  16. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

Thanks...I had heard similar before about the others listed as Sants. Another thing that was odd was that they do partake of Khanda-Batta Amrit, but their Nitnem Banis seem to negate Tav Prasad Saviyae, Chaupai sahib. I wonder if they use the 5 Amrit perparation Banis in the Amrit Sanchar.

    Just curious.

Not sure what Neeldhari amrit sanchaars are like, but they recite all panj bania at amrit vela:

  17. could you describe what simran on nirgun is/what it's like?

No. Only people who have attained this state can attempt to describe it (and I certainly have not), but it's by its nature indescribable because it is meditation on the Formless which occurs of its own accord after the mind has become one with shabad and one attains sun samadhi.

There's a nice description of the stages of Simran here:
