veerjee, trigidh joones are not limited to only those species, and one can't specify which joon is trigidh because there may be other joons in other worlds that are filthy creatures, we should just leave it at that. To my understanding trigidh joones are creeping creatures like worms and spiders, etc. and to others it might be something else, so bottom line we can't really specify what joones are trigidh unless one becomes brahmgyaanee and knows.

Gurbani should have more respect than shastars.

Shastars are to be respectfully adorned and taken care of. But in a scenario where you were forced to choose to drop either shastar or Gurbani, it would be the shastar.

I'm sure you have studied/researched Sikhi to come to the idea of adopting the way of life of a Sikh. Since this way of life/path/religion is so VAST. I could tell you what Sikhi means to me but then someone else will post what it means to them and so on and so forth, I wouldn't be surprised if this thread goes to 2+ pages. To be honest, its best to talk to a GURSIKH who is knowledgeable about sikhi in person as you requested instead of discussing online, because everyone will give you their input. To become a Gursikh you must follow the basic tentants and apply the teachings of ALL 10 GURUS, including the initiation ceremony of becoming a sikh by taking amrit by the five beloved ones and living life according to these teachings. Everyone can't follow these teachings to the core so we all start slow, everyone becomes a sikh differently there's no set way to becoming a proper amritdhari gursikh, so to start off you can research the religion a bit more, start to read/understand gurbani, history, etc. goto sangat, do simran, find local gursikhs in your area (which you're already trying to do) so what I want to ask is where are you from? Maybe there's someone on this board in your area to whom you can talk to.

In regards to praatan maryada or rehatname there's no written account of how to agan bhet your kes, its all about love and satkaar, you have to be practical and respectful when doing agan bhet or jal parvah of your kes.

Here are a few basic steps you need to follow and some basic information. When hair is burnt it releases alot of odor so make sure the area that you agen bhet kes is well ventilated, and it should preferebly be outside. Gather some firewood, match sticks, and dried grass / leaves that will start the fire, the fire doesn't have to be too big, some singhs say you can add oil to the fire to make it last longer or bigger, once the fire is burnt gather all kes that have separated from your body and keep them nearby, do Japji Sahib or Chopai Sahib and do ardaas to ask Guru Sahib for agya, then place your kes in the fire, hair burn very quickly so you can use an item on which you can place your hair which can be put in the fire, after all kes have been agan bhet then one must do ardaas to ask for kes daan, and for forgiveness for any mistakes.

Its a delicate situation, if you bring her to UK it would be a major change for her (climate) wise and just food, etc. as well, how will her body take to the medicine given to her at such an old age? You never know, what if there are complications on the flight. Like S1ngh said, its best to have either your dad or mom look after her because that's the closest relative she has and this is the time when they're most needed to her, what gurmat says is to take care of your elders in old age because they raised you and made you what you are, this is the least they can do. I don't think you should consider a nurse or nanny to take care of her due to inconvenience, if my mom or dad was sick I would leave my job/this country and move to take care of them, my two cents.

Thank You I didn't much about the Kirpan. I have some questions where should I keep/store my Kirpan now? And are we allowed to wash the gatra If it get dirty? And when I taken amrit should wear my Kirpan underneath my clothes or over?

veerji, please do wear the kirpaan as you are practicing gursikhi, so there's no reason why you can't wear a kirpan, as satpunga singh said just be mindful to respect the kirpan like any one of your other kakaars. You can either wear it on the inside or on the outside, however you prefer, read up on the laws in your place of residence to avoid getting into trouble with the authorities. Yes you're allowed and encouraged to wash the gatra and keep it clean.

When you take amrit you MUST wear your kirpan on the outside otherwise the punj piare will most likely tell you to. When you take amrit you must also take off your pants so wear a chola or a kurta. Tie your dastaar so that it can be opened from the top easily as so your kes are visible.
