  1. Happy bday! best wishes

  2. SSA all, I've been trying to find out the name of this song for ages. I know it's sung my Jazzy B and arranged my Tarsem Singh Moranwala. could someone tell me where i could download it also i cant find it on itunes either :S. I've posted the link below, thanks. Fateh http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=n85fC5FY65U
  3. Sikhi isn't about "attracting" or "converting", Guru Sahib actually condemns it. Besides being the 5th largest religion i don't think we are exactly shy on numbers. I'm guessing this isn't your views on sikhi but, sikhi is one of the most forward thinking religions. fateh
  4. SSA all, Long story short, I've been asked by one of my close friends (I consider him a brother), to play tabla at his birthday Chownki. Firstly, (probably not the best place to ask this question but..) can someone explain what this is about, I haven't got a clue what goes on or its religeous intent? Secondly, is it "bad" for a Singh to be there? I don't want to let him down but at the same time I don't want to be unknowingly worshiping a hindu deity. Your help and advice would be much apprieciated. Fateh
  5. Thank you all for your replies. I cant remember who said it, but I'm not "going to get one no matter what you guys say". I wanted to know what everyone's views were and see if it made me think differently. That was a really nice way of putting it and makes a lot of sense. Thats pretty much changed my mind and made me think about the reasons why i wanted one. Thank you for clearing things up for me paaji.Fateh How can u be a "Singh" and have a name like "kamlajatt"?! My name isn't KamalaJatt, My name is Kamaldeep Singh. KamalaJatt is my music tuition/Production company name. Its a twist on Ustad Lall Chand YamalaJatt. It has nothing to do with "what caste i am", its in honour one of the great punjabi Ustads. Take it as you wish just don't start an arguement about it as it has nothing to do with this topic. Peace and Bless Fateh
  6. for some reason that link takes me back to the home page :S
  7. thank you. i asked the artist if i had to shave my arm. She said she has done tattoos on singhs before and she said you dont have to on the bicep as there is hardly any hair there. Is there anything SGGSJ says about marking your body or changing your natural appearance? i heard there is but I'm not 100% sure. Fateh
  8. SSA all, I tried looking around here for views on tattoos and Sikhi. I couldn't find what I needed so I decided to make my own topic. I'm planning on getting a tattoo, I'm getting a quote from an old punjabi song by kuldip manak (I will post it up once I work out how to install a punjabi font on a mac). I'm going to have it out of sight (bicep area), as it is somthing that is personal to me, the quote got me through some hard times when I moved away. I wanted to know what your views ngon being a Singh and havi a tattoo bear in mind that I dont want this to turn into an arguement. I would just like you views and if possible if Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji says anything on the subject. Fateh

  11. Hi, This thread is really good. I'm impressed, I'm a powerlifter and boxer, and have been training for the past 5 years at competition level. At the moment i weigh 270lbs and I'm 6'3 (6'5 including my joora haha), for people worried about weightlifting stunting your growth, it isn't true in most cases, I'm 20 and have been lifting since i was 15 and hasn't affected my growth at all. though i have heard there is a link between protein shakes and stunted growth, but i don't know and haven't researched weather this is true or not. At the moment i am training to compete in the deadlift and clean/<banned word filter activated> lift...my personal best is 220kg deadlift and 170kg clean and <banned word filter activated>. mskcan's advice is spot on, giving real valuable advice. Thanks for teaching people and promoting good health and the pride of being a powerlifter. ps mskcan do u train at andy boultons gym? just curious bruv. Bless
