  8. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Gyani Udham Singh Ji wrote a book many years ago about Ikonkaar and the power of Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj’s bani. Within this book Gyani Ji wrote the following sakhi which he experienced with his own eyes: One time there was a Nihang Singh who used to live at a Gurudwara Sahib in a village in India. Gyani Udham Singh Ji visited this Gurudwara Sahib and saw the Nihang Singh Ji rush outside through the doors of the Gurudwara Sahib as if his very life depended on it. After a while the Nihang Singh would return to the darbar of Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and take his place within the sangat. After a certain time had elapsed the Nihang Singh Ji would rush outside once again. Gyani Udham Singh Ji began to wonder what the Nihang Singh Ji was doing and decided to follow him outside the next time he rushed out. When the Nihang Singh Ji did so Gyani Udham Singh Ji saw him run into a field behind the Gurudwara Sahib (facing Guru Granth Sahib Ji) and stand with his hands together before matha teking. After remaining like this for a while the Nihang Singh Ji would then get up and walk back towards the Gurudwara Sahib. When Gyani Udham Singh Ji saw this he thought in his mind that the Nihang Singh has probably taken some bhang and does not know what he is doing. But then he thought that he should ask the Nihang Singh Ji why he does what he does. The next time the Nihang Singh Ji rushed out Gyani Udham Singh Ji quickly stopped him and said, “Where are you going?” The Nihang Singh Ji quickly replied, “Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and the fauj are waiting, I have to get ready!” Gyani Udham Singh Ji still thought that the Nihang Singh Ji was under the influence of nasha. However when he sat near to the Nihang Singh Ji in the darbar of Guru Sahib all he could hear vibrating from the Nihang Singh was, “Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguru, Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguru, Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj”. As Gyani Udham Singh Ji heard this he saw the Nihang Singh Ji bow before Maharaj and say, “This Fauji is ready now” as he ran through the Gurudwara Sahib doors and into the field where he placed his head. Only this time the Nihang Singh Ji didn’t get up. When the Sangat saw this they gathered around and were left in a state of shock. One of the old sevadaars of the Gurudwara Sahib stepped outside of the crowd and said that this Nihang Singh Ji was no ordinary Singh but a Bandagiwala Mahapursh who choose to remain Gupt. The sevadaar said that he used to see the Nihang Singh Ji daily but the Singh would remain absorbed in Sri Mool Mantar Sahib Ji, Sri Gurmantar Sahib Ji and Seva. Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

  10. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Beloved sons and daughters of Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj just to echo what Veer PJS and other Gurmukhs have already said, this is all for Maharaj’s panth. It’s all for that king of kings who provides the very breath that keeps us alive. Even if we do jaap for our own worldly reasons (health, exams, maya ) there is no doubt that it will change our lives for the better and forge a stronger link with our beloved Satguruji. This has come straight from Brahmgyanis such as Amar Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Ji, Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji, Sant Gyani Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale. We can read and discuss many inspiring sakhis and concepts of gurmat relating to rehat, bibek etc. There is nothing wrong with doing so in fact it’s very good to do so but enviably you will find that all those things end up pointing to one thing – Gurbani, Gurmantar and Sri Mool Mantar Sahib Ji. Keep marching to the charankamal of Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj Khalsaji. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
  11. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh The following sakhi was recently posted by Bhai Harinder Singh Ji Seva (and Sri Mool Mantar Sahib Ji) at Amritsar sahib cured cancer of a Hindu boy! Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
  12. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Thank you for that very inspiring sakhi dear brother. A Sikh Bibi and her Exam Another one which comes to mind is of a Sikh bibi who wanted to go abroad to some Western country from India for education purposes. Unfortunately I only remember the sakhi very vaguely so many apologies if what I have written is incorrect. The Sikh bibi unfortunately could speak very little English and was required to take an English exam before she could enter the Western country. The bibi decided to take an intensive course in English as the date of her departure was very close. When she went to the class and told the teacher of her intentions they said that there was no chance that she would be ready to take such an exam as she knew very little and very significant time limitations. She was obviously very disappointed. As she left her class she met a Gursikh who could tell from her body language that she was disappointed. Without asking her any details the Gursikh simply said, “Don’t worry bibi, simply do Naam Simran and Sri Mool Mantar Sahib Ji, Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj will take care of the rest.” The bibi with renewed hope diligently followed these instructions. Needless to say she passed her exam and was able to go for her studies. Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

  14. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Gursikh and a Muslim Pir: Power of Bani The following sakhi was posted by Bhai Bijla Singh Ji on this very forum in 2004. It is a very inspiring story and teaches us that if we hold the Bani of Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj and the Kirpan of Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj in our body, mind, heart and soul no power, seen or unseen can break our link to our beloved Satguruji. This is especially relevant in today’s age where dushts so openly try to severe our ties with the charankamal of our beloved father, Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. 15. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh The direct route to Sachkhand The following sakhi was translated and transcribed by Shastr Ji (with slight amendments) from Gyani Thakur Singh Jis katha. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
  16. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Sangatji please take the time to post stories/katha about jaaping Sri Mool Mantar Sahib Ji so that we can gain inspiration to accomplish the One Million Jaaps. Ill begin. *Veer Pjs please can you make this a sticky and post some translated katha on Sri Mool Mantar Sahib Ji* The Making Of A Brahmgyani Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh In Guru Jis darbar Bhai Surinder Singh Ji (a kirtani from Baba Bakala who was well known at one time (before the advent of tape recorders in Punjab)) narrated the following story to the sangat when he was asked about the importance of naam japna. One time Bhai Sahib and his Jatha were travelling around Uttar Pradesh and had reached Lucknow the states capital. On the Prakash Diwas Gurpurab of Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj the Gurudwaras committee had arranged a one week kirtan programme and had requested that Bhai Sahib and his Jatha partake in this mahaan seva. In this way Bhai Sahib and his Jatha sang the praises of Akaal Purakh for one week at the Gurudwara Sahib in Lucknow. After the ardas on the final day of the programme Bhai Sahib was approached by an elderly hindu lady called Mata Dhian Dev who had accompanied a Sikh family to the programme. Mata Ji told Bhai Sahib that she had never heard such beautiful bhajans before and that she had been deeply moved by the love and peace of the house of Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. With tears in her eyes she requested Bhai Sahib and the sangat to come and hold a kirtan programme at her house. Although Bhai Sahib and his jatha were meant to leave for Punjab later that night Bhai Sahib being a beloved of Dhan Guru Granth Sahib Ji acceded to her request immediately and said that they would come to her house. The next day Bhai Sahib and the Sangat from the Gurudwara Sahib arrived at Matajis house. Mataji with the help of her relatives had cleared all the furniture from her house and had put white sheets everywhere in preparation for their arrival. For six hours Bhai Sahib and the Sangat sang the praises of Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. At the end of the kirtan as Bhai Sahib was about to leave Mata Dhian Dev quickly got up, took hold of his hand and said, Gyaniji please give me a mantar from this path of Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. Bhai Sahib smiled and told Mata Dhian Dev that he could not give her such a mantar as only the Panj Pyarai could do that. Mata Dhain Dev listened to this and then said, You have sung so many bhajans here and at the Gurudwara Sahib please give me any mantar from one of these bhajans. Bhai Sahib once again explained that the mantar Mata Dhian Dev was seeking could only be obtained from the Panj Pyarai. He then began to explain in detail the life of a Gursikh and the Amrit Sanchar but Mataji kept asking him to provide her with a mantar. Finally Bhai Sahib told her to repeat Guru Sahibs mool mantar from Ikonkaar to Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach as many times as she could. Mataji got up and went to her room and came back holding a mala in her hand. While showing Bhai Sahib her mala she told him that every day she uses it to repeat the name of Shiva and asked if she could use this mala to repeat the mantar he had given her. Bhai Sahib smiled and said yes. Mataji then asked Bhai Sahib how many times she should repeat the mantar. Bhai Sahib said that she should repeat the mool mantar as many times as she could. A few years after this Bhai Sahib and his jatha visited Lucknow once again to peform kirtan seva. After the programme Bhai Sahib saw the same secretary who was there the last time they had visited the Gurudwara Sahib. Bhai Sahib talked to the secretary for a while and then asked him about the wellbeing of Mataji. When Bhai Sahib did this the secretary didnt say anything for some time. After a while Bhai Sahib asked if she had passed away. The secretary looked at Bhai Surinder Singh Ji and said, No Gyaniji, Mataji has not passed away but has become a Brahmgyani. Bhai Sahib was taken aback by this and decided to go and visit Matajis house. When he reached her house the front door opened and he was greeted by a beautiful Khalsa decorated in Guru Jis dastar and bana who with folded hands loudly uttered, Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. The beautiful khalsa adorned with Gurujis pure dastar, bana and shahstars was none other than Mata Dhian Dev who had now become Mata Dhian Kaur a beloved daughter of Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. Bhai Surrinder Singh Ji eyes began to well up in tears. He was soon caught in Mata Dhian Kaur Jis loving embrace. After taking a few moments to compose himself Bhai Surrinder Singh Ji immediately sat Mataji down who with both hands did a benti for Bhai Sahib to do Kirtan. Bhai Surrinder Singh Ji smiled and said that of course he would do Kirtan but before that he wanted to hear how a few years ago he had left a Hindu mother only to find a beautiful Khalsa mother in her place. Mataji nodded her head and then began to speak, Do you remember all those years ago when I asked you to give me a mantar of Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj? You immediately told me to go and see the Panj Pyarai to be blessed with Naam. I quickly dismissed this and after much insistence you agreed to write out the Sri Mool Mantar Sahib of Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj for me. The day you left I sat down and began to recite Sri Mool Mantar Sahib from Ikonkaar to Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach using my mala. I used to sit down everyday like this and became lost in this practise. Eventually minutes became hours and hours became days. I used to take my mala everywhere with me. Slowly even my mala disappeared until the only thing I could hear, see, feel or think about was Gurujis Sri Mool Mantar Sahib. Wherever I looked I began to see Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jis Sri Mool Mantar Sahib. It was everywhere and within everything from the floor to the walls, trees, birds, skies and beyond. One day while reciting Sri Mool Mantar Sahib I felt my conscious pulled inwards and was met by four people whose faces were covered. They were dressed in dark clothes and were carrying a throne that was held in place with two long sticks. They told me to climb on to the throne and said that they would carry me to wherever I wanted to go. I quickly got onto that throne. They took me to many places each which was more beautiful than the next and asked me if I liked any of them. I was told not only to look at each place but also to get of the throne and wander around those places. After wandering around for a while I would come back to them and say is there nothing else? Is there no land where only Gurujis Sri Mool Manatar Sahib resounds? Eventually I was taken to a place that I cannot describe. Outside of this place resided all the devis, devtas and other beings. They were all waiting outside hoping to gain entry to this place. Some were sweeping others were performing other types of seva… I dont know what happened then but the next thing I knew I was inside this very place. I found myself sat in satsang surrounding by men and women with moon-like faces that were dressed in blue and kesri and decked with sarabloh weapons. In front of all these people sat the most beautiful person I have ever seen. The only way I can describe his beauty is that he was the Sri Mool Mantar Sahib itself After sitting here for a while I was approached by a tall person who had a long flowing beard, was dressed in blue and carried a long stick. This person asked me what are you doing here? I looked at him and said what do you mean? I have recited the Sri Mool Mantar Sahib of Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj I have every right to be here. I dont know what happened next but I found myself in front of Sri Mool Mantar Sahib Ji himself who said that I had to leave this place. I began to cry and eventually Sri Mool Mantar Sahib Ji told me that he would give me another chance and that I would have a certain time to ensure that I secure my place in his court. I dropped towards the floor and placed my head at his charankamal. When I raised my head I found that my face was covered with a white sheet and that people around me were uttering, Ram Nam Satya Hai (the name of Rama is True). I immediately got up and began to tell people around me that I wasnt dead but very much alive. They were all in shock. I immediately ran towards the Gurudwara Sahib and asked the Granthi Singh over there to arrange an Amrit Sanchar for me. He told me that in due course one would be arranged but when I narrated my story to him with Guru Sahibs blessings the Amrit Sanchar was arranged for that day itself. Only Guru Sahib and Mata Dhian Kaur knew how much time that he had given her. However how much it was she left this earthly vessel while reciting Sri Mool Mantar Sahib in the house of Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. After talking for a while Bhai Sahib noticed a plaque on the wall in which he saw Sri Mool Mantar Sahib Ji written in Gurmukhi and Urdu. Bhai Sahib looked at Ayub Khan and said, Why have you got the Sri Mool Mantar Sahib Ji of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on your wall? Ayub Khan smiled and said, Sardarji this Kalaam of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj has made me what I am today. ik oa(n)kaar sath naam karathaa purakh nirabho niravair akaal moorath ajoonee saibha(n) gur prasaadh || One Universal Creator God. One day I had had enough and after being beaten very badly decided to run away from the Madrasa. I ran as far as I could. I finally stopped (at the only place in this world that is open to every single creature) the house of Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. I sat outside on the steps of the Gurudwara Sahib and began to sob. As I was doing this I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up and saw the beautiful face of a Naam Abiyhaasi Gursikh. The Gursikh looked at me and said, Yuba why are you crying today? I wiped the tears from my face and said, Babaji I cant take this anymore! Everyday I go to the Madrasa just to be beaten by the Mulla. My heart, mind and body is broken. I dont know what to do! The Gursikh smiled at me and said, Yuba I will give you the Mool Mantar of Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. Whenever you have any difficulties in life repeat this Mool Manatar of Guruji. I looked at the Gursikh as he wrote the Mool Manatar in urdu and proceeded to teach it to me. After repeating the Mool Mantar together for a few minutes the Gursikh told me to go back to the Madrasa. With hope in my heart I went back to the Madrasa. As I was doing this I realised that I was late and that the Mulla would be very annoyed but I still repeated this kalaam of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. When the Mulla saw me he looked at me and said, Oh, so youve come. Quickly sit down we have a lot to get through. I was so surprised that he didnt tell me to stand in one spot, or grab me by my ears, slap me or use the long stick he used to keep to beat me with! This was the first time in my life that I had not been beaten by the Mulla. From this moment I realised the power of this kalaam of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and quickly committed it to memory. Anytime I had any difficulties in life I repeat it. In this way I came to be the President of Pakistan. Having felt its power I tell my children to keep hold of this kalaam. Akho Satnaaam Sri Waheguru. This story is recorded in Ayub Khans autobiography. The Gursikh who narrated this story to the sangat says that he has this story pasted on his wall so that everyday when he wakes up and looks at it it gives him a slap across his face. While writing this I feel that same slap. May Guru Sahib bless us with the ability to repeat his Sri Mool Mantar Sahib. ik oa(n)kaar sath naam karathaa purakh nirabho niravair akaal moorath ajoonee saibha(n) gur prasaadh || One Universal Creator God. Everyday I go to the Madrasa just to be beaten by the Mulla. My heart, mind and body is broken. I don’t know what to do!” The Gursikh smiled at me and said, “Yuba I will give you the Mool Mantar of Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. Whenever you have any difficulties in life repeat this Mool Manatar of Guruji.” I looked at the Gursikh as he wrote the Mool Manatar in urdu and proceeded to teach it to me. When the Mulla saw me he looked at me and said, “Oh, so you’ve come. Quickly sit down we have a lot to get through.” I was so surprised that he didn’t tell me to stand in one spot, or grab me by my ears, slap me or use the long stick he used to keep to beat me with! This was the first time in my life that I had not been beaten by the Mulla. From this moment I realised the power of this kalaam of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and quickly committed it to memory. Anytime I had any difficulties in life I repeat it. In this way I came to be the President of Pakistan. Having felt its power I tell my children to keep hold of this kalaam.” Akho Satnaaam Sri Waheguru. This story is recorded in Ayub Khan’s autobiography. 22. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh In the 1920-30s there was an English captain who had a very spiritual mind set although he was not aligned to any religion in particular. One time as he had set sail in the Indian Ocean with the rest of his crew the ship hit some problems during bad weather. As a consequence of this he issued an order for the crew to abandon the ship. Rather than think about saving himself the captain went around the ship looking for crew members whilst constantly keeping the name of Akaal Purakh on his lips. As he was doing this he kept humbly doing an ardas to Akaal Purakh to save his ship. By keeping the name of Akaal Purakh the captain felt Waheguru’s presence and went into great Anand. Needless to say the ship did not sink. How could it when Akaal Purakh himself was holding it? When the captain reached India he decided to do a yatra of all the major religious asthans to see if he could experience that same Anand. The captain visited many deras, churches, mosques and mandirs. Eventually he found his way to Punjab and the home of Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Raam Das Ji Maharaj, Sachkhand Sri Darbar Sahib Ji. As the captain entered Sachkhand Sri Darbar Sahib Ji he felt that same Anand emitting from the house of Guru Sahib and tears began to fall from his eyes. After bowing in reverence to Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj the captain began to walk around the parkarma in the wrong direction. He was met by the Saint Scholar Dr Bhai Vir Singh Ji. The captain narrated his story to Bhai Sahib and told him how his sister was the one who initially told him to repeat the name of Akaal Purakh. The captain said, “My sister Julia was a very spiritually driven person who told me that whenever I was in trouble I should repeat the name of God as this is the only thing which could provide people with aid. She used to keep a mala and constantly repeat God’s name.” The captain went on to share stories of his sister and her discourses. One of these discourses that he told to Bhai Sahib was as follows: “One day when I was speaking to my sister she told me that people who repeat the name of God will cry and those who don’t repeat the name of God will also cry!” Bhai Sahib looked at the captain and asked him to explain. The captain went on and said, “I too did not understand but my sister said that those who repeat the name of God will cry as they will regret the time that they wasted in not repeating his name. Those who don’t repeat the name of God will cry once they leave this earth when they find out that the name of God is the only thing which could have saved them”. 23. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh One time as Sant Baba Harnaam Singh Ji was sat down he told his beloved student Sant Baba Nand Singh Ji that he had a great urge to listen to Gurbani and that five simultaneous Sri Akhand Path Sahibs should be organised. Those fortunate souls who have managed to attain a glimpse of the great jeevan of Sant Harnaam Singh Ji will know that Mahapursh was constantly coloured in the love of Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj’s bani. Sant Nand Singh Ji listened to Sant Harnaam Singh Ji and immediately began to make preparations for the Sri Akhand Path Sahibs. In this way after performing an ardas to Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj the five simultaneous Sri Akhand Path Sahibs began. One Singh would recite Gurbani loudly and the other four Singhs would recite Gurbani quietly in their throats. At that time the sangat would use Ghee lamps to provide light in the night for the Singhs performing the Akhand Paat seva. On the first night of the Sri Akhand Paat Sahibs it was very windy and Sant Nand Singh Ji began to worry that the wind may blow out the ghee lamps. Sant Harnaam Singh Ji and Sant Nand Singh Ji were listening to the Sri Akhand Paat Sahibs when all of a sudden a huge gush of wind came flowing towards Guru Ji’s Thakht extinguishing all the lamps that the Singhs were using. Upon seeing that the lamps had gone off Sant Nand Singh Ji quickly looked at Sant Harnaam Singh Ji who smiled at him and said, “Nand Singh! Gurbani is the true light do not have any doubts about this!” Despite these words of Mahapursh Sant Nand Singh Ji began to walk over towards Guru Sahib. As he was doing this he could hear the Sri Akhand Paat Sahib still going on and he thought to himself, “Wah! Dhan are the Sikhs of Guru Sahib who have memorised so much Gurbani”. However when he looked up towards Guruji he began to see a beautiful blinding golden glow that was coming from Guru Sahib’s saroops. From this day onwards Sant Nand Singh Ji did not see Guru Sahib as anything other than the living embodiement of Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj, the only true light in this very dark world. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
