actually no. you do need to carry a kirpan as your sri sahib, but as a nihang you can/will carry a pesh aswel, as it is a shastar for close quater battle. you should carry both.

Sanatan Sikhi is the true Sikhi, but not as how most simple minded folk understand it to be.. For those of you who do not know what Sanatan is, look it up. But for the lazy people who will not bother to research beyond their mobile phone contacts list or this primitive forum, heres a simplified version. Sanatan means beyond time - timeless. it is Aadh Dharam. Aadh, being beyond time. Sikhi Dharam is beyond time. This makes it SANATAN. Instead of being scared of things that you dont understand, why dont you try and find out what lies beneath, rather than failing to see under the veil of ignorance that has shrouded people's eyes.

Do you actually think there are people out there who would beat the kid 'to pulp' just because he innocently posed with farla (and a fake sword) for a picture?? Honestly, some of you guys never cease to amaze me! unfortunately this is true. a group of 5 "singhs" beat a 17 year old boy for wearing a fake farla. if you would kindly look into the search history of this forum, im SURE you will come to the story which i am indicating at....

its all well and good saying its not a problem, or its not offensive. but when a young sikh lad places a peice of kapra in his dumalla (not a farla, just a peice of seperate kapra), it looks like a farla, and then he gets beaten to a pulp by 5 so called "singhs". This baalak is wearing a farla, which he souldnt be. yes it could be just to make a cute picture, or a completely honest mistake, but it is not right. Maryada is Maryada, it doesnt change per person.

actually there is a written account stating that Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji was complete in the time of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. A hindu came to Guru Gobind Singh Ji's darbar and saw a prakash of the Shastar, and someone doing the chaur seva of the shastar. the hindu asked Guru Ji why show this much respect to the shastar when you are above everything in the world. Guru Ji laughed and said "o hindu, u dont understand anything. read Dasam Granth and you will understand the satkaar of the shastar". but at sirsa nadi, Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji was lost, and had to be recompiled.
