  1. hello, have you sold the kirpan? or do you still have it? i can do a paypal transaction pretty imminently if you send me a personal mail with your paypal id. thanks
  2. Absolutely!!..why are they waving that flag for!!!?? WHats happened to the Nishaan Sahib??
  3. I just saw a glimpse and didn't have the heart to read..its utter Beadbi! I would rather that the entrire script shouldn't be asted..it doesn't serve any purpose to repeat Beadbi. Can moderators please remove it? As for the Maha Dusht..he has cut himself off from nature and will suffer the consequences for this terrible act.
  4. This is a ridiculous post and serves no purpose here other than to discredit another religion and as such it should be removed by the moderators. The programme isn't about particularly muslims..those gang members may have been born into a muslim family but being born into a family doesn't make you a member of that religion unless you abide by the rules. No muslim would condone anything like that. Leave the muslims alone and focus on your own spirituality and stop acting like a kid in a playground!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want to spread nationlist propoganda then I suggest you join the BNP, EDL or whatever they call themselves these days. Just dont post on this board!!
  5. I think you lot are just misunderstanding what I meant. Gurmukhi is the language that was chosen for the Guru Granth Sahib. As long as efforts are made for the children to learn Punjabi alongside it, then fine..or vice versa. I have nothing against the medium of English to make people aware of Sikhi if thats the only language they speak. However, each Sikh cannot rely on ENglish alone because so much is lost in translation of the passages of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. If you go to USA you will come across many white goreh Sikhs who have mastered the Punjabi language. They could easily have said we'd rather use |English but no. They took it on board to learn the language without taking the easy option. Now, i have nothing against using hand signals etc etc..but it should take place in a different room I believe though in the Gurdowara..just not where Maharaj's prakash is. There should be a sense of respect. I totally believe in the incorportaion of events such as sports and other community projects..only not INSIDE the main hall where the Prakash takes place.. Now..one of the women in that clip says that they dont want to be told what to do. Sikhism is about submission to God, just like most religions are so unless one understands this foremost concept of spirituality..you can continue to practice culture or other ideals in the name of religion..it wont be spirituality. As long as you want to rebel against something and amend it according to the times, you run the risk of seperating from the source. The Guru says dont cut your hair..dont eat meat..dont take intoxications. If we start saying this is the older generation telling us what to do, then we aren't ready to embrace Sikhism in the spiritual sense. Perhaps we are attracted to the cultural sense but then we wont move an inch towards relaisation of the soul. Or will we?
  6. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-15595139 Dont quite agree with this..I think its ridiculous! why should English be put in place instead of Punjabi? WHy cant parents make an effort to teach children Punjabi? and what's up with all those hand signals?..sitting inside a Gurdowara! If you want a playgroup go somewhere else..if you want to sit and meditate in silence and listen to Kirtan (in Punjabi) then go into the Gurdowara. Am i the only one who feels this is wrong?? I cant be..
  7. WJKK WJKF Hey, thanks very much for the info! Very helpful indeed! The same thing happened to us..I wasn't home that time but I heard 2 of them came inside and started doing Ardas that we were donating a certain amount. As they had already started it, and my dad being religious, honoured it and gave them the money, but I was later annoyed at him for doing so. These guys are using a persons religious devotion to get away with stuff that would be classed as 'Beadbi'. I just wasn't sure just in case they really were on behalf of some charity..but if you are positive that pingalwara doesn't send people like these guys to ask on doorsteps, then its wrong.
  8. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Lately, I've been getting visits from a group of Singhs..varying from 2 to about 4. They are usually in proper Baana and flowing beard. Middle aged to quite old (bazurg). Look like they've come from India and they have presented themselves on my doorstep asking for mney for a charity they are working with in India. APparently they've come quite a few times and my dad has invited them in, and they always ask for money for some project involving charity..like building an old people's home back in India. Its not always the same Singhs..different group comes after about a week or 2..sometimes more frequently. They all have some laminated card with a photograph of them with some building being developed in the background. We are Gursikhs and dont like turning away anybody so my dad has given them money each time..but its getting a bit much as they are coming back quite very frequently..Has anybody else had any similar experiences? SUrely this isn't the right way to go about doing a collection even if its for a good cause? I feel they probably dont go into a Gurdowara as they may be from a certain sect?..like believers of Baba Siri Chand? Just want some help on how to go about this..
  9. Yes! Thats a fantastic book! I used to read excerpts from the book in 'Atam Marg' which was published by His holyness Sant Waryam Singh Ji. 'Shabad Surt Marg' will also be beneficial..a book written by Sant Waryam Singh Ji of Ratwara Sahib. They were an amazing soul..
  10. Whaeguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Until you dont lose your self..your identity..and become the shabad. Until you dont get over dualities..until when neither thirst nor hunger can overcome your mind...until when you have no desire to sleep even 1 minute of the day or night.. until when the heat of the summer and the cold of winter has no effect on your mind.. The path is long my friend..its more sharper than the edge of a sword to walk on. 'Sikhi tikhi a khande di dhaar nalo'. Until when the 18 Sidhis and 9 Rishis come to your feet and yet the extreme wealth and powers they promise is like ashes to you. WHen somebody slanders you or calls you great, it has no affect on you and you remain steadfast in the remembrance of the ALmighty. Become like the moth who saw the beauty of the flickering flame but never returned back to tell his comrades the beauty of the flame. In the morning they saw that he had become the flame...
  11. 'The highest darshan is darshan of Shabad Guru. Let our eyes have darshan of Gurbani as much as possible'. Yes thats true. However, looking at photos of Saints and Gurmukhs is better than viewing other photos such as of worldy people, wouldn't you agree? After all, God also gave us this physical body too and these eyes must serve their highest purpose of doing Darshan of Gurmukhs. Just as viewing somebody like David Cameron or Tony Blaire, or Obama you get reminded of politics, by viewing photos of Gursikhs, one remembers the Lord.
  12. Fine. I wouldn't worry about it. We are all humans and bhulanhaar. We make mistakes. As long as you dont do it deliberately, the Guru forgives. We are the Gurus children. The Gurus love is like a mothers love. Some of the posts draw comments bordering on humour/negativity. I dont know you or how you live your life so I cant really comment saying anything humorous. If you are a devout Sikh, then dropping a Kara can be something that would throw one in some dismay. You say you was feeling mentally weak. Let me tell you sister, weakness of the mind gradually disappears when one recites Gurbani daily. A Sikh must try to recite 5 different Baani's daily. Gurbani is food for the soul. If you nourish your soul with naam, your soul becomes strong and healthy. Keep your mind attached to your soul all the time and your mental state becomes stronger. Wish you all the best.
  13. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh First of all I would pray that all users of this board..silent or active, get drawn closer to Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. I would kindly like to ask anybody who can help me in obtaining a photograph of the late 'Panth Ratan Sant Singh Ji Maskeen'. I took a photo to my studio to be enlarged but as it was a very small photo taken from the net, it wasn't possible for them to enlarge any bigger than 8x10. I would like a larger size photo (in megabytes rather than kilobytes) that I could enlarge to a size 20x24. If anybody could help I would be so so grateful and may their sewa be parvaan. You could email me the photo to my private email address or if you know where I could buy say a framed one, please please let me know. I was privelaged to have listened to Baba Ji's discourses and when they visited London, attended their katha programmes. They played a great part in bringing me closer to Sikhi. AT the time I used to trim my beard and they said something in their discourse in London and I was immediately drawn to the power of their words and the gian behind it. I stopped trimming my beard and in the subsequent years took Amrit. To this day my eyes fill with tears when I listen to Maskeen Ji..they were an ocean of spiritual knowledge and the least I can do is at least pay them some respect by having a photograph of them in my house. Please help..
  14. Wow..thanks so much Veer Ji. I cant thank u enough! Gurfateh!
  15. WJKK WJKF Could somebody please help me in obtaining dvd's, vcd's or mp3's of Kirtan diwans of Sant Waryam Singh Ji. I was also after recordings of Sant Mia Singh Ji. Please,,,..please can somebody tell me where I can purchase them from? laala gola
  16. Bundha, i wasn't starting a platform for nindiya at all. I merely want to know if anyone knows if Baba ji will be comng to UK this summer.Am i allowed to do that without hurting anybody's feelings/shaan?Nindaks will always do nindiya so why should we be in fear of them & stop speaking praise about saints? Will our refraining from mentioning the kind deeds of Saints, stop the nindiya?or should we just forget about it & not raise our voice against it?.I would like to see Baba ji i UK, & I sincerely hope they give darshan to us. As for nindaks, they can do all the slandering they want but it is them who are preventing their own spiritual progress.
  17. Gurfateh Does anybody know if Sant Baba Maan Singh Ji will be coming to the UK this summer. Baba ji has been given a lot of bad press by nindak log and i heard about the way they were treated in Canada. I was appalled. Baba Ji has dedicated their life for the love of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth SAhib Ji Maharaj. Baba ji speaks the truth and speaks it without any fear. Obviously there are many people out there who dont like to hear the truth from Babaji and hence do nindiya. We must be more wiser and not simply start doing nindiya of a saint simply because others are doing it. Remember that slandering a saint is a great sin. In the Sukhmani Sahib, Guru Maharaj goes into detail and depicts the state of a doki/nindak of a Saint.
  18. The Parkash smagam was amazing!! It really was. I lost total track of time!! The bliss,..the anand..It was truly out of this world. This was the first time I had seen Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadriawale live. I have to admit that I myself used to be a little skeptical about Ranjit Singh and the fact that he was very young and yet people called him baba. However, I have come to learn that age has nothing to do with wisdom. Baba Ranjit Singh must indeed be respectfully be bestowed with the title of 'baba' because they have great knowledge. When Saints speak.. they speak only of Gurbani and they give us mere mortals a lifeline by making us aware of our soul. Praise Dhan Dhan Dhan Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj who have created countless Saints to bring us closer to him.
  19. duz it really matter? not being nasty, but wot sort of post is this?
  20. Has any practicing turban wearing sikh ever had to remove their turban at airport security? What are the rules governing searching of head turbans?
  21. Oh dear. Looking at the posts on this thread really has made me think that we are in a dire situation. If we dont hold castism openly on our tongues, we dwell on it subconsciously. In Islam caste is not predominant to the extent as in Hinduism. In Judaism there is no dominance of caste. People appear to have missed on the essence of the post and pay more attention to trivial things and waste their time arguing over these trivialities. This is a prime example of why we have failed. This is just one reason..there are countless more which I've come across. May God help us. May the Guru have mercy on us.
  22. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh I have recently come to the conclusion that Sikhism is a religion which we (the Sikhs) have failed to get across to the non asian community where we live. I talk of the UK where I live. I mean I've seen brits and europeans who haven't heard of Sikhism..they dont know the basic tenants of Sikhism..ie that the males wear long turbans and grow long hair and beards. Too many people view Sikhs as extremist muslims. This may be laughable to some but I am serious. A vast majority of white people look at turbans as symbols of militant islam. As a community I think we have failed to address the isue of broadcasting Sikhi to the masses..just as Islam and hinduism have. A small minority of whites know about Sikhism (and mainly only the british because they ruled over India and knew about the Sikhs). All we hear in the media is about muslim fundamentalists blowing up buildings etc..Sikhism isn't even mentioned among the main religions of the world (Christianity, Budhism, Hinduism and Islam) and this can be evidenced in the recent complaints received at the BBC radio 4 programme. I think I saw a link to that somewhere on this website. I always go out of my way to tell people who are interested, about Sikhism and the basic beliefs of Sikhism. However, I notice that a lot of whites are looking at Sikhs in discust because they think we are associated with militancy and associate our turbans with Islam. We as a community haven't managed to even tell our children about the tenants of Sikhism so small surpsie that we havn't managed to get across the message of our religion to others out there. We focus on making bigger and better Gurdowaras...we focus on our own TV stations..but why cant we spend the funding on having programmes on Sikhism so that they can be aired on mainstream TV...so that we can share our history...our Guru's sacrifices with the other faiths. Please share your views on this.
  23. Hawk13, WJKK WJKF I'm afraid that I think your comments are a bit far stretched re the udhasi sect. I know of a great number of udhasi mahatmas who devoted their life for the good of mankind. Indeed, the name of Sadhu Beeram Daas comes to mind. A great sage who foretold that Sant Maharaj (Rarewale) would be a great Saint when Saint Isher Singh Ji's mother took them at the mere age of about 2 years old for darshan to Beeram Daas. Main stream akali's may not fully accept the Sikh saints but it is the Sikh saints who preach day and night and give masses 'amrit' and transform their lifes. As for the point that we should accept the Guru Granth Sahib Ji as our sole Guru..Saints also revere the Guru Granth Sahib. Read the jeevan saakhis of Pooran Brahm Giani's such as Sant Baba Harnam Singh Ji Bhucho kala wale, Sant Baba Nand Singh Maharaj, Sant Attar Singh Ji of Mastuana Sahib, Sant Attar Singh of Reru Sahib, Sant Isher Singh Rarasahib, Sant Kishan Singh Rarasahib, JAthedar Baba Mohinder Singh Rarasahib, Sant Baba HArnam Singh Ji Rampur Kehra. Sai Ji warge ne, visre na naam jinaa noo. Glory be to God's Saints. The emat eating issue is something I dont agree with you on either. History has been warped by so called historians to meet their own ends. Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and Guru Gobind SIngh Ji hunted wild animals. However, when Guru Ji killed a creature, it was liberated from the cycle of samsara. That is completely different from you or I killing a creature whereby we accumulate bad karma. The Guru has the power to give eternal life and so can take life. We mere mortals do not have that ability so we can never copy the Guru and say.."Oh the Guru hunted animals, so we can too". We dont know the full story behind each animal that the Guru hunted. Once Guru Ji (in the body of Guru Nanak) cursed Bhai Moola (khatri) when he refused to show his face to Guru Nanak, Bhai Bala and Bhai Mardana after being away from their company for many many years. Moola had stayed with the Guru for a long time but he returned back to his village with the blessings of Guru Nanak and was married. When Guru Ji after many years was passing Seaal Koth, they said "Lets meet Bhai Moola as its been a very very long time since we've seen him". Moola's wife knew that before marriage, Moola had gone off with Fakirs and being afraid that he would again do so, she asked Moola to hide and said to Guru Ji that Moola wasn't at home. The Guru being aware of everything asked several times but Moola refused to show his face and Guru Nakak then said "If Moola isn't here, then surely he isn't here". As soon as these words had been spoken a cobra crawled out from somewhere and bit Moola. He died instantly. WHen Moola passed away, his wife brought the corpse to Guru Ji and asked for forgiveness but Guru Ji said he had gone against his "bachan" and that he had refused to show his face. Guru Ji said that they would forgive him in their tenth body and that until then Bhai Moola would go though various lifes of animal form. Indeed when Guru Gobind Singh Ji hunted and killed a rabbit, the accompanying Sikhs asked the Guru Ji who this rabbit was. Guru Ji then explained to them that this was the Bhai Moola of SialKoth whom had refused to see Guru NAnak Sahib, when they passed through Seaal Koth. Guru Gobind Singh liberated Bhai Moola from the curse which they themselves had given in their body of Guru Nanak. Therefore we can never compare ourselves to the Guru. The Guru is Sarbag. We are alpag. We are here in this world as a result of previous karma. MEat eating is against Sikhism.
  24. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki FAteh I am a practicing Sikh and wear a full beard which I tie up and am a professional. I'm relatively new on this board and have posted a in reply to other posters on various topics. The reason why i say all this is because I am going to ask a few questions which some of you may find either offensive or you may agree/disagree with me. First of all, I find that in the UK (where I live) the younger generation who turn to Sikhism turn into it very fundamentally. I mean there are many who start wearing the full kit..Nihanga wala chola..loose beard, and various kirpans and even a spear and the karra with beads. Dont get me wrong, I'm not criticising anyone but I just wanted to ask if these youngsters are affiliated with a certain group or do they view the wearing of the full kit as 'proper' Sikhi. I believe that Sikhi gives me peace and I say my prayers at times convenient to me (due to shift working I cant always wake up at 4am and pray)..I tend to wear a symetrical (as opposed to a round) turban. I also tie up my beard. Now, when it comes to kakkars I cant always wear my kirpan at work and I think the Guru would understand my dilemmas when living in a western society..ie security, or what ever reason. Am i wrong to hold this view? There are many Sikhs who hold the view that its ok to eat meat. I for one, dont. Some Sikhs oppose Saints. I dont. My life was influenced by a great Saint and it was from him that I realised the path of Sikhism. I view no difference between the Guru and my Saint. Some of you may oppose this..but this is a personal matter of divine love. I also wanted to ask if Nirmala/Udhasi marg is part of Sikhi? This is a sect which encourages ascetism and originated from Baba Siri Chand (son of Guru Nanak Sahib). Followers of this sect sometimes dont marry and live a very very simple life. We all talk of unity amongst Sikhs...so surely Sikhi should be deep and wide anough to embrace all these different paths within it which appeal to different SIkhs in different ways. WHat are your views on this?
