  3. Reply from John Hemming: "I will raise this issue with the Foreign Secretary" and K Grinsell: "Thank you for your email. I have forwarded it to the office of Malcolm Harbour who is the MEP for Birmingham. He will reply to you as soon as possible. Kind regards, Karen Grinsell"
  4. That show was a joke! From the limited time I wasted watching it, it was apparent that the presenter, Major Sandhu was wholly biased in favour of Babbu Mann. Each time any caller with sense called in pro parcharaks, they would get cut off! If they were allowed any air time, the presenter pounced on them with ridiculous statements not really allowing the callers to make whatever valid point which may have been made. If a show such as this was to serve any purpose at all perhaps a panel should have been utilised. One man with questionalable knowledge does not suffice. Complaints should be made to Venus channel direct and to majorsandhu@hotmail.com simply as an attempt to hopefully prevent biased shows such as this being aired repeatedly which only stir up further propoganda
  5. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh Brilliant! How very very well put! This is exactly how our quam should have responded to the pathetic videos posted on YouTube. Sadly some of our brothers ask sisters became somewhat waylaid and joined the nindiya. Thank you for sharing this, it's so nice to see logic prevailing for once! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh
  6. Beautiful Katha. About 2.30 mins into the video, Giani Ji makes a point which is especially relevant today; can be applied to the whole debate surounding the Babbu Maan controversy. kar ba(n)dhae thoo ba(n)dhagee jichar ghatt mehi saahu O human being, meditate on the Lord, as long as there is breath in your body.
  7. I agree, this post should not be closed; this will not prevent forum users from holding opinions based on misrepresentations incorrectly made by others. Nor I guess will my own rambling post! Some of the posts in this thread truly do illustrate how we desperately at this time need parcharak such as Sant Baba Ranjit Singh Ji. We are becoming so consumed by our own ego’s that we do not appear to be able to stomach someone else’s chardikala. It is usually empty vessels like me who make the most noise. The people who are actually doing some seva, be it cars/financially/physically; they are the ones who will not been seen making posts like the ones seen here. They will do what they please with their own shardha. However, why is it that the people who are more likely than not the internet warriors who may not necessarily be taking out even their dasbandh for a good cause feel the need to pass judgement, to pass comment on what others are doing? I have met a lot of people who have the same thing to say in respect of Sant Baba Ranjit Singh Ji; why do they need these cars, why not give money to x, y and x? In response to this, I would question why they feel that it is acceptable for them to drive in quality cars, but not acceptable for Sant Baba Ranjit Singh Ji? Why is it ok for them to decide where to loiter away their own maya yet discourse negatively over what Sant Baba Ranjit Singh Ji does? Again here it is likely that these very same people are the ones who are not doing any seva themselves yet feel that they are the ones in the most appropriate position to pass comment on what seva needs to be done and where. Is this not hypocrisy at the highest level? We should really be ashamed of ourselves for even contemplating criticizing someone who is doing such outstanding seva for our panth; for us. From a personal point of view, it Sant Baba Ranjit Singh acted as the catalyst that was required to join my family to sikhi, one could say that they acted as the bachola (matchmaker) in our relationship with guruji. What we forget is that not everyone is blessed to be born into a gursikh family. The simple manner by which Sant Baba Ranjit Singh ji performs his diwans is exactly what people like me require at the outset; it is a foundation upon which further knowledge can later be slowly gained. Then with maharaj’s beant beant kirpa, one gets to the stage where one physically craves the sadhsangat, our mind is not at rest unless it is exposed to kirtan, to gurbani, to the teachings of the gurus. For people who are unduly critical, i would point out that the people that take amrit, that keep rehat, wake up at amrit vela and recite gurbani; they do not recite dharna or whatever ‘kachi bani’ that people make reference to. They give their head to our eternal guruji, they do not bow down to anyone else. Instead of praising someone for standing out, praising someone that actively promotes sikhi, we are putting them down for wholly irrelevant reasons. I feel that it is a very sorry state for the panth that our own brothers and sisters are favouring the likes of Babbu Maan against true Gursikhs who have the sole purpose of furthering our panth by spreading the message of our guru’s. I would also be intrigued to know exactly how many people who sit behind their monitors criticizing Sant Baba Ranjit Singh Ji’s parchaar have actually sat in one of their diwans? It is guaranteed that any one who actually sits and listens to what they have to say would not dream of condoning what is being said; as what they preach is gurbani; nothing else. There is no other motive behind their diwans apart from joining us back to our guru’s bani. How can this warrant criticism? It simply cannot. Maybe we should pay less attention to the person who is saying something, and more attention to what it is that is actually being said. This in my opinion would have high relevance to this post, our fickle minds need to stop looking at what cars the jatha drives around in, how many chimtey, dholkiay they have and focus on what message they are spreading across the globe.

  13. Does anyone know of any santhiya classes starting in Birmingham now?
  14. I trust my post, as per sikhsangat custom, will be open to much criticism. You refer to other companies, CTS in particular, how can this be used as a comparision with the Sikh Channel. CTS is a very successful BUSINESS. Its there to generate profits, thats it. Conversely, the Sikh Channel is a free to air channel targeting sikhs only. Marketing is what CTS does best, whether we love the adverts or hate them, we all know of them. From a marketing point of view again, very successful. You also say that 'he should be able to fund the sikh channel'. I dont think the question is whether he is able to fund it, becasue i dont think that is what is in dispute, the question really should be why should he have to fund the channel himself? Why should it be one persons resposnisbility? Where is the ekta here? I'm sure there are people on the forum who pay for subscriptions to other channels, i'm fairly sure that these cost in excess of £4.00 a month yet there are no similar procrastinations which are carried out when doing the same. So why such a huge fuss for the Sikh Channel? Again logic would dictate that we should be content with one channel as opposed to none, therefore such arguments as the ones being advanced on this thread seem somewhat needless.
  15. As you would appear to be somewhat of an expert, why don't u go to the channel and share some of this 'expertise', I'm sure the very few people who are taking there valuable time out trying to improve the channel for the sangat would appreciate help which has yet to be forthcoming. Instead of acknowledging their great efforts we sit on forums being highly critical of their work. I remain amazed at how ungrateful we are that we finally even have such a platform Hmmm, even if most gurdwara commitees have not backed them I still dont know why there is a funding crisis anyway. Usually even small channels get advertising revenue from a syndicated program where a set of mainstream adverts and played on many channels and owners of those channels get their share of the advertising revenue but it seems the owners of Sikh channel have soley relied on getting mostly sikh businesses to advertise themselves which is a hard task especially in a recession. It was a mistake to launch so quickly without have a proper business model, securing a reliable source of income and good programing (all I see is phaath being done and kirtan played 24/7 people might aswell watch youtube) . It all seems a bit "on the fly" to me not very professional to say the least but having said that it is important that all issues have been resolved in terms of the transparency of accounts, etc if this channel is to have full support of the UK and worldwide sangat.
