At the very last moment, one who thinks of the Lord, and dies in such thoughts, ਬਦਤਿ ਤਿਲੋਚਨੁ ਤੇ ਨਰ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਪੀਤੰਬਰੁ ਵਾ ਕੇ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸੈ ॥੫॥੨॥ बदति तिलोचनु ते नर मुकता पीत्मबरु वा के रिदै बसै ॥५॥२॥ Baḏaṯ ṯilocẖan ṯe nar mukṯā pīṯambar vā ke riḏai basai. ||5||2|| says Trilochan, that man shall be liberated; the Lord shall abide in his heart. ||5||2|| page 526 SGGS. My understanding is that in order to achieve kalyaan , one has to conform to the above ideology. If one can conform to this through: (1) Chanting Gurbani alone , then one has succeeded. (2) Listening/singing to Gurbani (either classical raags or straight forward dharna) the one has succeeded. (3) Listening to katha of SGGS,Sri Dassam Granth,Sri Gurpratap Suraj Granth,Bhai Gurdas,Bahi Nand Lal,etc.....then one has succeeded. (4) dhadhi vaaran/Kaveesharee etc..........then one has succeeded. (5) Chanting of "Waheguru"............then one has succeeded. My personal experience is the combination of the above. Again I stress this is only my own interpretation and experience and is not intended as a slur against any individual,Sikh,or Jathebandhee etc. "Kalyaan is our ultimate goal". There are many Gurbani answers to your question but the one that springs to mind is: ਕਬੀਰ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਸਿਉ ਬਰਜੈ ਲੋਗੁ ਅਜਾਨੁ ॥ कबीर लागी प्रीति सुजान सिउ बरजै लोगु अजानु ॥ Kabīr lāgī parīṯ sujān si▫o barjai log ajān. Kabeer, I am in love with the All-knowing Lord; the ignorant ones try to hold me back.

WAHEGURUJIKAKHALSAWAHEGURUJIKEFATEH. I am not aware of any seperate pothi for the Gurbani of Sri Guru Amar das Ji. I found the folowing helpful. I downloaded the digital version of SGGS from www.gurbanifiles.org and then used the index to look for particular shabads. There is also a ladivaar version available at http://www.rajkaregakhalsa.net/downloads.htm Kirtan pothi's will also have Guru Ji's shabads.

There are hundreds of references to katha in SGGS. The above is just one example. My personal interpretation of "katha" is the preaching of the qualities of Waheguru ,and as such , what one can attain by naam simram. I spent many years listening to katha from many different preachers and reading steeks etc. Now I feel that I have reached a stage where I can decipher Gurbani and Gur Ithihas for myself. I get distraught at times when I have to sit through katha where the preacher is not promoting the power of naam but rather is using Gurbani to promote his own agenda. I feel I have got there in the end but only after years of searching and interpreting. I still feel that katha of SGGS is important aswell as the katha of Sri Gur pratap suraj granth. I appreciate that some historical events recorded in SGPSG do not conform to the Gurmat of SGGS but that is something we learn to balance after debating the issues with scholars and prominent Gursiks etc. All preachers and other Gurbani readers will interpret it in their own way and , as such , will attempt to portray it in that way. I would say that people in general fall into the three categories of "rajjo gunn ,tammo gunn ,and satto gunn" but the true katha of waheguru ji would be performed by someone who does not fit into this category i.e. someone who is in "chauttha padh". The first copy of the book was presented to the Head Granthi of Takhat Sri Hazoor Sahib, Giani Pratap Singh. The formation of a committee called 'Sri Dasam Granth Prabodh Sabha' was also announced at the occasion. The sabha which constitutes of Jathedars of Takhats, Granthis of Sri Darbar Sahib, Sikh scholars, historians, and representatives of various panthic organisations including Nihung Jathebandis, Sant Samaj and Damdami Taksal will work towards countering the wrong prachaar against Sri Dasam Granth which is being carried out by some quarters. An open challenge has been given to those who are engaged in negative propaganda against Sri Dasam Granth to face the committee within a month, given that they have the intellect to understand the intricacies of poetry including formation of Chhand. On this occasion the head of the Sikh Jago Lehar Bhai Kashmir Singh and other dignitaries also honoured Bhai Gopal Singh. Among those who spoke at the occasion included Giani Pratap Singh, head granthi of Takhat Sri Hazoor Sahib, Dr. Jodh Singh and Dr. Harpal Singh Pannu from Punjabi University Patiala, S. Jagdish Singh from Naad Pragas Sanstha, S. Anurag Singh from Ludhiana, Giani Sher Singh Ambala, Sant Hari Singh Randhawewale, Dr. Harbhajan Singh Dehradun, S. Another company called iriver have introduced their own reader to rival the Sony reader but with loads more features such as audio playback and built in speakers. I have tried to get in touch with the company to see if it supports Gurbani fonts but as yet I have not been informed. Has anybody seen the iriver story? WAHEGURUJIKAKHALSAWAHEGURUJIKEFATEH. I recently purchased the Steek of Gurpratap Suraj Granth which contains the line by line simple Punjabi translation by Dr.Ajit Singh Aulakh. It has eleven volumes and it was fantastic to read Guru ithias in such detail. Prior to this Steek I believe that one had to undertake a lengthy santhya of the Granth since it was originally written in Brij language. Has anybody else read this steek? WJKWJF. Mokham Singh.

WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KE FATEH. Just wanted to say that I listened to the complete katha of SGGS by Gyani Takhur Singh Patiala(DDTaksaal). It is the most wonderful katha that I have ever heard. It covers the whole of SGGS but also explains the significance of Sri Dassam Granth in Gursikhi. I would urge everybody to listen to this complete katha which is available for free download from many Gursikhi websites but in particular from www.gurbaniupdesh.org After listening to this katha I now feel more confident in tackling the anti-panth preachers who seem to be on a mission to discredit the fundamental principles of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Sikhi!
