  1. Thanks for your feedback. But i do like to stress this is just NOT one point of view, this is absolute truth point of view listed in gurbani which we supposed to be stressed and striving for. Unfortunately, ego doesn't like it to give out ownership back where it belongs -actual doer Vahiguru as it threatens its existence, so ego will try all kind of defense coping mechanism and held on to relative realities. On the question of doership maharaj responds: This is key Guru Maharaj updesh, as long as mortal thinks he/she is doer that causes further fragmentation/identification with separate I-personal ego I and separate desires and actions of personal I that further ensues karma be it good and bad that determines next birth, current life situations/birth. However, this is not clear cut issue. It's not a rule written on a stone, its assessed case by case basis by panj pyares, panj pyares are authority not single sikh who can impose/enforce such a blanket role on all. I believe strongly one should not hide or withhold information from masses as many christians have done to control the masses and sway them in one dimensional thought process or direction. Along with malton taksali gurdwara, nanaksar gurdwara allows it. In India, hazoor sahib allows it where bibi is given kirpan da amrit. According to my undertanding, Sikhi/Gurbani's ultimate position on universal unified absolute reality/truth is ALIVE in its existence truth- mool mantar any kind of fragmentation of that truth afterwards such as topic of ego, mind, body discussed in gurbani is based on relative reality to further expand or explain or cater various seekers sitting at various state of mind. From absolute point of view-mool mantar, ego nor illusion doesn't exist as there is only ONE AND ONLY ONE IKONGKAR infused everywhere its one without a second. There is no other. So question of ego doesn't arise. Previous member bought up 21st asthpadi, which would be ultimate principle and truth.

Depends on the individual state of mind for some its awakening-new way of being at some level due to amrit intensity, for some its bhagti bhav, for some doing more patt and mool mantar jaap, for some getting used to do amritvela doing 5 nitneems, 2 in the evening, for some its devotional singing-kirtan, for some its going to gurdwara every day more often, and seva. And those who also rush in to take amrit after listening to pumped up parcharaik (i'll use ranjit singh dhandrianwale divans in the past for example) also feel huge interest spike in daily nitneem, sikh way of being for few months then it kind of dies out as they have taken decision in haste or due to trend. Sikh and Khalsa way of being is life long journey towards knowning your real self- jot saroop and abiding in sehaj avastha. Reminds of baba budda ji bachan- Mukh Bhagti Hirde Gyan

So instead of glorifying, bringing awareness, retelling stories of maha bhagat puran singh ji to the western masses like we do turban tying events, we here decided to spend energy to discount other works and broadly ignoring life long accomplishment/fame philanthropy work of mother teresa. I am not against scrutinizing in natural article not done in vile perpetuating way as its quite evident here. My 2 cents also it should not be done at the expense of bhagat puran singh ji. I am sure bhagat puran singh ji wouldnt have problem with mother teresa when it comes to philanthropy..he wouldnt appreciate his name as token to cause flame wars. When it comes to osho. Osho has nothing against mother teresa personally per say he was against rigid religious ideology, missionary, jevoh witness type/over zealous chelas and against anyone everyone who had conceptual organized mindset. Those who like to use this osho guy as your token to prove a point making a big mistake as he would deep cut you in secs, he criticized everyone included sikhism and including himself, his followers. Many still call him crazy and eccentric. I dont have opinion on him either way as his life is full of contradictions and paradoxes. so i haven't bother spending energy to confine him into some label box.

If we look at the tat (essence) both men and woman are affected by egoic conditioning, so instead of blaming each other in various fragmented relative context both should use gurbani a guiding force, self reflect, contemplate and try to break shackles of mind rise above from gender-indentity ego trap into pure jot (genderless) being.

  9. We need to understand context of this bachan. Guru maharaj ji is never against anyone sharda and pyaar so its not fully condemned or seen as manmat (black and white). So with that kept in mind, guru maharaj is also giving cautionary updesh to his sikhs, dont caught up in condtioned cycle on form, dont fixate your surti(consciouness) on anything which has form - sargun even subtle form of sargun- akhri shabad, shabad dhun - all expereince will appear and disappear- appear again so its transient- Only permanent form of Satguru/shabad gian(eternal awareness) under all this drama is played endures- gyan saroop of shabad. Surrender yourself let satguru consume you over and over again. According to my experience and understanding- Gurmat essence message/updesh is - Karma is connected to your body, mind not your soul(jot saroop/ikongkar shabad gyan- eternal pure awareness self cognizant), abide in it with effort, truth and integrity until its effortless(naam liv )/ sehaj then karma/destiny/perception of relative realities/duality/perception of hell or heaven falls off from your true nature(read more about non dual true nature of all - sukhmani sahib 21st asthpadi), your become one with your true nature- ikongkar (one and only eternal permanent truth reality there is in everything and every moment to moment) expressing itself.
  11. Agreed, just like compassion is preservation aspect of Ikongkar, destruction is also aspect of - Ikongkar. Ikongkar is within all, operating functioning in perfect harmony in absolute non duality. Hence, my point of turiya.
  12. Sikhi is turiya path which while engaging in rajo - enrich foods, tamo - non veg and sato -simple food, veg in perfect harmony it also under pins and transcends them. Sikhi is neither for or against eating meat. So Sikhi cannot be boxed or confined into conditioned world movements like veganism- PETA or other extreme everything goes such as kfc.

She is raising the kids as sikhs. I think We have our own example on this forum who married brazilian - non sikh - interfaith also raising kids as sikhs.

I is the key here, start witnessing your mind (how I arises, form identifications with thoughts/feeling) see how the drama of mind is being unfolded in form of- thoughts/emotions i feel, i feel like our association with thoughts and emotions etc etc. Form a gap between I (shud surat- consciousnesses without any identification of i am xyz person) by witnessing the mind without judgement - without grasping or without resisting) and surat identifying with thoughts emotions (ego) feel/emotions/thoughts you will notice - thoughts will loose its power on ya then slowly but surely by maharaj grace- shud surat (consciousness) will merge back to its source, leaving you with internal sehaj- absolute balance- equipoise/chardi-kalah in all situations. Sikh spiritual path is quite paradoxical, its easy and hard at the same time. Enjoy.

  23. Let me deconstruct a bit for you, this wasnt directed towards anyone specific but rather general closed conditioned mindset. Anyway, the point i was making to those who are willing make such a big decision in their life to question gurbani based on some group believe or person belief needs to may be take a step back and may be open and receptive towards infinite Guru's wisdom and be in direct experience on what they are questioning rather than wrapping their head around 2nd hand info- belief/concept/ideology passed on to them. Being open and receptive to Guru's wisdom does not meant blind faith either, it just means you sit innocently in naam simran beyond mind closed conditioning (full of 2nd hand beleif, concept and ideology) and let the answer of what you questioning or doubts come to you DIRECTLY via anubhav Prakash/ deb dristhi-parchard gyan- epiphany or direct insight right from ocean of Guru's wisdom.   24. Because it was meant to be like that, thats all..it was part of Vahiguru Hakum as each beloved Guru's had certain task to do which happened to manifest itself as male. I dont think we should look at our history from western rigid gender equality point of view because there are many examples in our sikh history which refutes any consistent pattern to be boxed in to any typical ideology/ western view of equality-femninism/ or even male patriarchy. So we cannot box things in a simplistic form- For eg- 1. Many Enlightened beings were female during Guru's time, most often historians ignore unconsciously contributions of female bhramgyanis during guru's time and current times. http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Manji_System It's well know fact there were manji system (centers establishment where gursikhs were chosen to do parchar) was started by Guru Amar das ji, they were 22 manjiya intially strategically placed everywhere in india to do parchar. It's well known fact the patsah in intial amrit ceremony was put fwd by Mata sahib deva/kaur. This can be understood at many levels..balance in amrit, without jagmatta(chaupi sahib/ japji sahib) - mata sahib kaur -patsah symbolism of sweetness/nurturing- amrit intensity is hard to handle for normal being 3. There are many esoteric references of female/shakti divinity in sri dasam granth sahib which is not confined to female gender but includes female gender/ divine energy along all with integral aspects of shakti(sri sahib/khanda/kirpan/aad shakti force within all of us ) sargun aspects of vahiguru. Once you research more deeply, one will find equal amount of expression of vahiguroo genderless expressing itself in sargun (full of attributes) both sargun male and sargun female aspects as you find terms like purkh-male, shakti- female in both our scriptures. 4. Make no mistake despite of Vahiguru expressing itself beautifully into sargun, Vahiguru-paratma and all of us- atma is truly beyond and genderless- read japji sahib, jaap sahib, gyan parbodh and 21st astphadi of sukhmani sahib- absolute nature of absolute Vahiguru atma-paratma which includes all and beyond.
