  1. You guys do know that Delhi compaired to other cities is the city with the highest Sikh population? No other city comes close to the Sikh population of Delhi in the whole world. Also there are many historic Gurughars located there. So why is the need to be silly and make these immature remarks? Or will our Sikh brothers/sisters not be affected. Not to mention all of the ithasic Gurdwareh.
  2. I suppose you get what you pay for. Emirates is very good to Delhi then you can get internal like Kingfisher flight to Chandigarh. Not sure but I think there are more internal flights to Amritsar than Chandigarh. As most people I know in UK are from Doaba, Chandigarh makes more sense. Before anyone says we should go to Amritsar, it is so much better to do darshan of Harmandir Sahib without all your baggage and long flight tiedness etc. So best to make time out in your vacation.
  3. This is wrong on so many levels. The sad thing is, this sceanrio could be played out in any Gurdwara Sahib anywhere in the world. I personally think there should not be commitees in Gurughars. As always the two sometimes 3 opposing sides try to point score amongst each other. Instead as you do need someone in charge finances should be controlled by trustees, with full disclosure avaliable to the sangat. All bank statements on notice boards every month. Donations are to be made public and any sangat member can be present. Better still the charavah should be counted infront of sangat after samaptee. All other decisions should be made by the whole sangat not just the commitee board members, this could be every Sunday after the diwan. This is just of the top off my head it most probably is not practical but can anyone really say they whole heartedly trust the majority of Gurdwara commitees?
  4. True. Don't want to discuss either.
  5. I doubt it, as they would have been dealt like that for leaving Islam. The truth of the matter is most Sikhs have Hindu ancestary. It is no secert that the majority of Sikhs converted from Hindu relgion in the 1800's. Due to economic and social status advantages with being a Sikh. Especailly after British raj.
  6. Thats is not the right way to deal with it in my opinion. Also young guys slapping up an old man that is totally wrong. I am sure there are more appropriate ways. Loads of Sikhs says some fundamentalists muslims are backwards and heavy handed whats the difference with these guys.
  7. very interesting points luckysingh99.Vegans must laugh at our defintion of veggie just like how we think some goreh and muslims don't think of fish as meat. Muslims don't have to halal the fish. Whereas its as clear as day a fish is a living animal. This egg debate has been very informative. However I don't think it changes anything, as in our community eggs will always be seen as meat and drinking milk is seen as a good thing totally veg. But I find this fascinating still trying to get my head around it. As what your saying is correct, but still I cant associate eggs being as bad as milk even though it is the case.
  8. Sorry don't know about Taksali's. But my understanding is by talking to some, is the following true? you can only do it if you want a child. Do it once and wait to get a preganent. A testing kit will let you know if yes then BINGO. If not do it once more. If you only want 2 or 3 kids you should do it 2 or 3 times, in your whole life. After you have the desired number of kids stop IT. YOU SHOULD NEVER SHOW EFFECTION! NO need to touch or hold hands. If you don't concieve then keep trying but YO! is it KAAM? Is this true (I think they are lying), or are manmukhs like me who think it's a natural human urge/need just like breathing, drinking, eating, going loo etc. WRONG. As I bet many couples have done 'it' mpre times than the number of kids they want. BTW I have 2 kids, but have done 'it' more than 2 times. Seriousley whats wrong with showing youe wife effection or giving in to to human nature?
  9. I viewed the same katha paaji. I agree with you, it makes sense to me. I understand Punjabi fully. I don't have high gian in Sikhi though. As in panthic circles this is viewed as blashphemy so can any knowledgable member out there please refute this video for people like me who are very low with Sikh knowledge.
  10. I don't support Niddar Singh, however agree with the comments above what is the need to insult bana and Hindu dieties. It is wrong. BTW why have the soormeh in the video covered their faces,
  11. Sanjsingh has a point. Most other, well no if there's sensitivity in the subject matter when threads they go off on a tangent they are locked pdq.
  12. I have no idea regarding the Asthbhuja. I went with my family and folks a few years back, I spoke to many people there including the guys in the offices they told me some sikh history and the history off the area. I was never into sikhi prior to this Yatra and the darshan we payed at the other historic gurdwareh in Punjab.
  13. I don't know about the shaster etc. but for a fact there is much katha on the history of sachkand hazur sahib. Maharaja ranjit Singh built it pakka, before it was not. it is said we should all do Yatra there once in our lives ideally before 60. 60 cos in those day only could travel on foot or horse so older people could not go. Maharaja ranjit Singh himself went there on Yatra and when he saw gurdwara sahib commissioned the building work. Iam on my phone so can't type much.
  14. You are wrong. Sikhs have been around abchalnagar nowadays known as nanded since joti joth of 10th guru sahib.
  15. I don't get it bani is guru, right. So if sggs ji is downloaded on a phone or tablet then it's different? Is it only guru when it's written on a paper? I have asked many times this question no one answers. Why?
  16. Slightly off topics but you tube "injustice 1984", a short film based on true story of Gurcharan Singh. It's by lion frame films I think.
  17. Stay safe all people affected by this. My concerns for your well being will be reflected in my prayers.
  18. What is the problem if a person from non so called Sikh background meets the criteria of the Sandesh set by Akal takhat Ie has Singh/kaur in name on legal docs accepts Sikhism etc. has an anand karaj, they will actually most likely look into sikhi. Whereas most weddings from Sikh background couples don't in some cases have a clue about sikhi or Singh/kaur in their name . Just cos there from punjabi Sikh background there is no issue.
  19. To me they look nothing alike that's the sort of thing a gora would say just based on the fact the both got turbans beards and kind off same style tache
  20. Imagine if some one with extremely big pockets or a very small no Iam being silly. But seriously if some carried a rucksack or something similar with loads of things in it like an address book, letters, photos, a gaming device, MP3 player and SGGS JI and walked around with it like that is it right? I mean you would carry it without respect some well loads of people go to the toilet with the phone in their pockets I mean they don't touch but its in your trousers when you go is that a suitable place to take something ie a mobile with sggs ji even if you don't touch it or open on your phone? I mean would it be ok to take something like the rucksack I mention with all those things In it as that's the same
  21. That's what Iam saying do you keep a gutka or sggs ji on a bookshelf with all your other books? Just because its electronic and not physical does it make it okay or is it a whole different thing? You may wash your hands when reading it but how do you store it? Especially mobiles with sggs ji downloaded its the guru on your phone why keep your phone in your pocket, do you treat as maharaj ie parkash, sukhashan? No. So what is the difference between chela ram of Delhi and you guys? It's like a new cool techey thing for young singhs but think about if you would treat a printed version the same like would you carry it the same etc. like a full bani of sggs ji equals guru so is it right to treat guru ji differently if its in electronic form as it is still physically on your person
  22. So many people I speak too have issue with wedding cards or calanders with bani on them but have no issue with bani on their phone which is kept in the pocket, like would you carry a gutka, pothi or Sggs ji in your pocket ? But downloaded on your mobile is ok? Please discuss I have asked this many times not one response EVER!
  23. I would not have sggs ji downloaded on any device as then it is guru ji. Will you do parkash and sukhashan and give full respect everyday? People think its ok to download Sggs ji on iPad or mobiles etc. but where is the respect? Mobiles are kept in your pocket or a handbag you handle without washing hands and talk into it by putting on your face. Same with iPad kindle or similar device you handle without full respect have other apps on it and go on Internet or other books. What's the difference between disrespecting guru ji like chela ram did and with having it on your mobile or other device including pc as do you treat as true guru? I think NOT, no one who has downloaded full sggs ji does parkash or sukhashan or give full respect everyday, do they? People moan about beadbi but this is totally accepted form of beadbi in the panth.
  24. Its up to you if you want to give you best wishes to someone celebrating a religious festival. However, slaugthering animals in the halal way is part of their dharam. They do it to commerate Abarham's sacifiace to god. It's is the sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim that they do this ritual.
