  1. I got bhavrasmrit from dtf book store in bham. I have seen the other book listed on waterstones website. Try googling the books and they might be available through online booksites.

    I haven't read the second book book but the first book is translation of rachna of bhai gulab singh jee who was from nirmal samparda. Nirmal samparda intepret Gurmat through lens of Vedant which is a philosophy within hinduism.

    Reading spiritual books is good to increase knowledge but Gurmat is above and vakhra (seperate) from other philosophies and religions. To get better understanding of Gurmat i suggest books by Gursikhs such as bhia gurdaas jee, bhan nand lal jee, bhai randhir singh jee, bhai vir singh jee, giani udham singh jee etc.

    Gurmat is very simple marag to meet god through naam simran. Over and over again gurbani stresses importance of naam simran.

  2. Very easy to tie without larh in mouth. I'm sure majority of gursikhs tie dastaar without putting in mouth, whether it be gol, dumalla, sidha....

    It is unnaceptable for amritdhari to put dastaar in mouth, imagine if one is doing seva of guru sahib saroop carrying on head on top of dastaar. That dastaar should be sucha and clean.

    I tie sidha gurmukhi dastaar. This means no pooni, folds, pins and no larh at the back. One can tie quickly and is very comfortable.

  3. Is this not the right time to call for sarbat Khalsa at akal takht.

    The sikh panth should gather at akal takht and seek azaadi(freedom) of sgpc and akal takht.

    The Sikh panth should hand letter to jathedar of akal takht and sgpc asking for resignation.

    Either serve the panth or politicians (badals) it is their choice.

    If anyone has contacts with amrik singh ajnala, sardar cheerma or other panthic gursikhs at gurdwara amb sahib, please make the suggestion for sarbat Khalsa.

    We don't want raaj, the badals can have as much power, money and land as they want. We just want the right to run akal takht without interference from outsiders.

  4. We have to have realistic goals. Badals cannot just be removed from power, it is just not that easy.

    However an opportunity has arisen to capitalise on the anti badal sentiment that has now risen in the Sikh panth. We need to seriously make efforts to organise a third party to contest the next elections in punjab.

    The third party should fight sikh causes as well as the supporting the poor and removing corruption. Just recently the "aam admi party" has delivered a heavy defeat to the congress party.

    The sgpc should not be demolished and has the capacity to be great institution. There should be no political style elections for the sgpc. All we require for sgpc are gursikhs who have hunger to do gurmat parchar.

    The akal takht jathedar, under the guidance of the 5 pyare, should have the highest authority in the panth.

    This being said I do not see he above happening anytime soon.

  5. Akal takht jathedar has stated fasting in not legitimate way to protest as it is against sikh teachings. This was in recent statement on "day night news".

    We're darshan singh pheruman jee, sant fateh singh jee, bhai randhir singh jee all wrong? This question should be put directly to jathedar gurbachan singh jee.

    Jathedar also stated that government had right to arrest bhai gurbaksh singh jee Khalsa but methods used were wrong.

    The rest of the Sikh panth is supporting bhai gurbaksh singh jee's hunger strike and condemned his arrest. However the akal takht jathedar and sgpc have remained silent.

    We all want to support akal takht but it is high time they speak up for the Sikh panth and innocent Sikhs in jails.

  6. There is little chance that the criminal who did beadbi of Gursikhs dastaar will be punished appropriately. How long has it been since the murder of bhai jaspal singh jee by police and yet still no justice.

    Until Akal Takht becomes independent of political parties we will not get justice.

    We need to get rid of political parties from the SGPC and Akal Takht.

    We need a movement for the azadi (freedom) of SGPC and Akal Takht.

    This is the roots of many of the problems the Sikh Panth face.

  7. What nonsense! Swaas swaas simran as taught by Panj Piare has not nothing to do with Kundalni Yoga! Or yoga in general.

    What that singhni has told you is not right and countless other who have had naam drirh will agree. Please read bhai sahibs books for more info regarding simran jugti. Please top using this example.

    Some have even called swaas swaas jugti of naam as hath yoga which is also nonsense. Actually if swaas swaas simran is practised with correct technique then it is opposite to that of hath yoga.

    Swaas swaas simran is just a technique to japp naam. Further to this, dhyaan, prem and vairaag are required in addition to listening to the dhuni (sound) of of Naam with our surat. Nowhere in Gurbani does it state to sit to adopt techniques of Yog mat. Instead Gurbani whows a simple path to Parmatma by doing sifat salah of Parmeshar through Naam and paath/kirtan of Gurbani.

    All this confusion has arised because the technique of swaas swaas simran is not being taught by panj piare in amrit sanchars.

    If one wants to learn about naam abhiyaas and dasam duar then please read the relevant books by bhai randhir singh jee.

    The main jugti of Naam is "prem". No need for yogmat techniques. A Gursikh who does naam abhiyaas, keeps rehit e.t.c will reach dasam duar, so what is the need for kundalani yoga, dancing, breathing techniques, sitting techniques?

    The "spitritual aids" for Gursikhs are Rehit, Kirtan, Santhiyaa and Sangat.

    Also the use of terms "protestant" and "abrahamic" is not right. Is bhai randhir singh also a "protestant" because they rejected yogmat and believed in the supremacy of Gurmat? Are then all those who reject yogmat and have shardha only in Gurbani "protestant" or "right-wing extremists". All this name calling is empty it has no basis.

  8. Veer Taran Singh jee, you and bhai kam singh jee are doing a good job with sikh youth show by discussing relevant topics that affect the youth.

    One great point that was raised in the show was to get rid of the committee system. This is a great idea and I am sure many of the youth will support but this but not the elders.

    Instead of committee we should select Panj Piare to run the Gurdwara. Also if I am not mistaken, the Granthi of Gurdwara was know as the "Wazir" - minister. Basically we need to put power back into the hand of the Granthi and Panj Piare. They should be role models and have good Gursikhi jeevans - Rehit, Amrit Vela, Naam Abhiyaas, Knowledge of Sikh History and Gurbani. Also they should be parcharaks and be able to inspire the youth towards Gurmat.

    The problem is how can we implement the system above?

    We will not be able to introduce this system in any established Gurdwara in my opinion. The committee will not welcome it, they are too set in their ways.

    The only option in my opinion is for young Gurskihs to set up 2 Gurdwaras maybe in Birmingham and London. These 2 Gurdwaras should implement the Panj Piare system. These 2 gurdwaras could set an example for the rest and demonstrate that you do not require a committee to run a Gurdwara. Also we can implement many other things that are missing from mainstream Gurdwaras such as Laridaar Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib jee along with Laridaar santhiya classes, simple langar, sikh youth classes............... e.t.c.

    Also we need to become more strict when it comes to Akhand Paaths, now they have just become a ritual and a means for income. If a family wants to do an Akhand Paath then they must listen to the paath and not spen 3 days in langar hall. Instead the sewadaars of the Gurdwara should take care of the langar arrangements and this way the parwar will have no choice but to listen to the Gurbani.

    Ideally the Gurdwara should be a small building, we do not require multi million pound buildings to do parchaar of Gurmat. The Gurdwara is place for bhagti and knowledge. The Gurdwara should be a place for abhiyaas of Gurbani and knowledge/vichaar of Gurbani. Further to this we need to do more parchaar on Rehit.

  9. Gursikhs wedding are arranged. There is no dating or any sort of relationship prior to marriage.

    If a gursikh wants to get get married he can approach elder Gursikhs who can then find a suitable match.

    It is ok if the couple talk after the match has been made to see if they are suitable for one another. However Gursikhs will not be interested in maya (worldy) related stuff but Gurmat - i.e. what is their rehni behni, do they get up at amritvela, do they keep rehit, is their goal in life to meet waheguru.

    The wedding of Gursikhs should be a spiritual union.

  10. I have read that some bhagats reached Karam Khand and even now dedicated bhagats who do crazy abhiyaas of Naam can reach Karam Khand. However it is only by adopting Guru Nanak Dev jee as Satguru and receiving Gurmat Naam one is able to access Sach Khand.

    Many Gursikhs interpret the 5 Khands mentioned in sri Jap jee sahib as spiritual states. The 5 Khands are not just spiritual levels but actual realms just like this one. This earth is a karam bhoomi - place in which we perform good/ bad karams and is part of Dharam Khand.

    Now science I believe is also coming up with theories of multiple universes. Gurbani has already mentioned the vast creation and countless planets, stars and realms. We cannot even comprehend this small earth let alone Dharam Khand.

    Fortunate are those who have had darshan and experience of these realms.

  11. It is common misconception amongst Sikhs that Guru Nanak Dev jee did not exist prior to their manifestation in human form in 1469. Guru Nanak Dev jee has been there throughout the 4 jugs. Guru Nanak Dev jee definitely existed before 1469.

    Mukti mean liberation and liberation can have different levels i.e. mukti from narak (hell), mukti from chraasi lakh joon.

    As per Gurbanee nobody has reached Akaal Purakh without Satguru.

    Who is Satguru?

    If other Avtaars/Bhagats/Prophets reached Akaal Purakh then who was their Satguru?

    Satguru can be only one. Satguru as per Gurmat is clearly Guru Nanak Dev jee. Before bhagats met sri Guru Nanak Dev jee they had reached as far as Karam Khand which is just below Sach Khand. Sach Khand is the highest destination in Gurmat - "Sachkhand Vasai Nirankaar" - it is the fifth Khand (realm) mentioned in sri Jap jee sahib. It is through GurParsaad, kirpa of Guru we can meet Akal Purakh and enter Sach Khand.

    Also I have read before that bhagats reincarnated as Gursikhs and took khanda de pahul amrit. However there has been research done relatively recently that proves bhagats met Guru Nanak Dev jee. Therefore they would not have to take jaman (birth) again to receive amrit. They must have received charan pahul amrit directly from Guru Nanak Dev jee. No doubt, before the bhagats could utter Gurbani they must have had to receive amrit first from Satguru.

  12. Bhai Ram Singh jee is one of the mukhi's (leaders) of Taksal and nephew of Sant Kartar Singh jee, other leaders include bhai harnam singh dhumma and baba mohan singh jee.

    Please spare this thread of "who is leader of taksal", so much time is wasted on this topic. It has been around 9 years I believe since the passing baba thakur singh jee but still the leadership issue of Taksal has not been resolved and nor will it be resolved on a forum like this.

    The issue of leadership of Taksal whould be discussed in private by Taksal Gurmukhs and not openly as this only causes further friction and division. Benti (appeal) no more comments regarding leadership issue.

    Great pictures! My favourite is the one with 5 pyare including Sant Kartar Singh jee and Sant Jarnail Singh jee, the face of Sant Jarnail Singh jee is so humble and peaceful. Are there are more pictures of Sant Kartar Singh jee and Sant Jarnail Singh jee together?

    Sant Jarnail Singh jee and Sant Kartar Singh jee were great leaders from our recent past, they were true sant-sipahi. They were bhagats who had done kamaee of Naam and Banee in addition they were great leaders who spoke from their hearts and had no hesitation in speaking out against injustice and Sikhi.

    Example from jeevani of Sant Kartar Singh jee:

    The 300th martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur was celebrated on 7th December 1975A.D. in Ram Lila Ground, Delhi. There was a gathering of about 22 lakh people. Everybody got up when Smt. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India came there. It was only Sant Kartar Singh Ji Bhindranwale who did not stand up and kept sitting. He condemned it in strong words from the same stage. Certain people spoke from the rostrum and said that Smt. Indira Gandhi has established relationship with Punjab. The then Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi said, "The same Delhi Darbar which had martyred Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur is bowing towards him on his 300th martyrdom day."

    The Sant spoke after Smt. Indira Gandhi. He started his speech with the slogan : I may sacrifice my head but not Sikhism.

    He said in his speech, "In medieval period Rajputs used to get bounties after giving their daughters. Today this will be a curse on the Sikhs if they follow them suit. Therefore none should give his daughter to such a person who has himself insulted his hair." He said the following lines from the Rahtnama 'One who gives daughter to a Sikh and does not take anything, only he is my Sikh and would go to heaven.'

    In an other sentence the Sant said, "We want to ask Indira Gandhi, who has managed the throne of Delhi for you ? If you have come to bow before Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur this is not a favour to anybody. Had Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur not sacrificed himself, some Muslim might have been on the throne of Delhi, who must have been circumcised. There would have been Islam on every side and Bibi Indira might have under some veil.

    "If the Prime Minister sacrifices her head as many times as there are hair on her body, even then she cannot pay off the debt of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur's sacrifice. Howsoever big a Prime Minister might be, he is not bigger than our great Guru. Such a big Prime Minister should bow before Sri Guru Granth Sahib and we should not get up to greet him."

    There were slogans on all the four sides on these words of the Sant. Only these words were the main reason of the tussle between the Damdami Taksal and Srimati Indira Gandhi. The Sant would never tolerate anything against Sri Guru Granth Sahib. That is why he threatened the false Nirankaris in strong words and afterwards took action as well.

    Daas 100% understands the sentiments in the above quote by "genie" jee.

    Daas was hesitant in writing that we should only do peaceful protests and avoid confrontations with the police or army at all costs. However daas still stands by this statement because we have recently seen how the Punjab police killed our veer bhai jaspal singh jee. I am sure other sangat feel the same way as me, we just cannot lose any more Sikh youth and see more families left devastated Also what increases the problem is that the police or army who fire on Sikhs will not get punished or under law, they will continue to walk free under the protection of the governments as in the case of shaheed bhai jaspal singh jee.

    Further to this, daas believes if we are to confront the Indian army and engage in warfare then the Sikh kaum needs to be in chardi kala state i.e. rehitvvaan, abhiyaasis of Naam and Gurbani, shasterdhari. However these days it is hard to find a keshdari Sikh in Punjab let alone Gursikhs that keep rehit, do nitnem banees and engage in crazy naam simran. Look at how many chardi kala Singhs there were during past few decades - shaheed bhai fauja singh jee, shaheed sant jarnail singh jee, shaheed bhai amrik singh jee, shaheed bhai anokh singh jee....................... the list is endless. The Sikhs that gave shaheedi during Nirankari and operation bluestar years had kamaee of Naam and Gurbani and kept rehit. However daas does not the see anywhere near the amount of such Gursikhs today, in this dark age a Gursikhs getting up at amritvela is rare.

    Basically how can we engage in warfare when we have stopped following bachans of Guru Sahib? That's why daas stresses the need to adopt Rehit and follow bachans of Guru Sahib. Before we can think about waging wars we need to increase the amount Gursikhs with kamaee of Naam and Gurbani in addition to rehit. Let's now focus on building up our jeevan's and becoming chardi kala.

    We are a long way off from where we need to be as a kaum. We need more time to build up our kaum through parchar of Gurmat. Now is the time for peaceful demonstrations and using the law to apply pressure on the Indian government.

  14. Is this not hypocrisy! On one hand Akal Dal Badal are talking about atrocities committed by Indian Sarkaar against Sikhs during operation bluestar but now the same Akali Dal have invited Indian Army troops into Punjab! why do they need the help of Congress? the same congress that attacked sri Darbar Sahib and killed 1000s of innocent Sikhs.

    The Indian army was also invited into Punjab when Rajoana was going to be hanged.

    What game is this "panthic sarkaar" playing? Why do they need help of Indian army in Punjab? Sikhs will not hurt one innocent person, daas is confident of this. However increasing the number of Police and Army troops will only incite violence not dampen it.

    Akali Dal should outright refuse any "help" from Indian government, Sikhs are peaceful kaum and do oppress minorities, we do not require army troops to maintain peace in Punjab. Sikhs of Punjab can look after themselves. Also the same can be said for punjab police.

    Sant Samaj and other Sikh groups who have links with Badal should strongly condemn the actions of Badal sarkaar - increasing police and inviting indian army in Punjab. this will only cause further trouble.

    Daas appeals to Sikhs in Punjab, especially the youth, to avoid any confrontation with police or army troops - DO NOT GIVE ARMY OR PUNJAB POLICE ANY EXCUSE TO ATTACK.

    All protests should be peaceful and even then safety is not guaranteed as in the case of the murder of the bhai jaspal singh jee.

    Sikhs in Punjab must be very careful, we cannot afford to lose any more innocent lives.

    We are being oppressed by our own state government (Akali Dal Badal) and Indian government. Who can we turn to for help?

    As Gursikhs we should continue to Ardaas, keep rehit, Gurbaani paath and Naam Simran, governments and leaders are corrupt, we must place all our faith in Akal Purakh.
