  1. This would be correct if the word was broken up ਸਦ+ਰਸ (which it can be, but usually you would find it written seperately as ਸਦ ਰਸ rather than ਸਦਰਸ) But in Katha, and from what I have heard from Giani Singhs, the way the word is pronounced in this context is ਸ+ਦਰਸ/ਸ-ਦਰਸ ਸ = In this context could mean samaan (equal) ਦਰਸ=Daras i.e. vision/seeing. I.e. To be seen as equal to i.e. in Panjabi what we would say as ਤੁੱਲ or ਬਰਾਬਰ. This is echoed in the meaning by Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha - ਜੋ ਸਮਾਨ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦੇਵੇ. - i.e. jo (that) samaan (equal) dikhaee deve (which is seen) - that which is seen as equal.
  2. This word comes up in Mahan Kosh as ਸਦ੍ਰਿਸ. It means 'equal to'. In sanskrit it is सदृश (sadarsh). As written in Mahan Kosh: ਸੰ. To illustrate the meaning given in Faridkot Teeka by Singhstah above: Having daya (mercy) on all Jeev (souls) is Sadaras (equal to) all the merits/ bathing in the Athaahat Teerath (i.e. the belief that high merit was obtained in bathing in the teeraths, Guru Ji says this is truly obtained when practicing daya/mercy on all). Just translating this part: ਤੇਰੇ ਸਦਰਸ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ Tere (to you) Sadaras (equal) Hor Koee Nahi Hai (no one else is) i.e. no one is equal to you (Vaheguru)
  3. A bit of confusion here...it wasnt Captain Harcharan Singh who passed away in Nov 2019, it was Bhai Veer Singh Ji, the elder brother of Sant Ji. See link for detail https://sikhsiyasat.net/2019/11/29/sant-jarnail-singh-bhindranwales-brother-bhai-veer-singh-passed-away/
  4. BHforce do you know who the giani talking in the Video is? He is Giani Gurvinder Singh Ji Nangli Wale, a fully fledged Nihang Singh respected by all vidhvans of Budha Dal and Tarna Dal. they themselves run a Gurmat Vidhyala under Panth Akali Tarna Dal Baba Bakala. The recent Budha Dal Sarabloh Granth Sahib Paath Bodh was conducted by Giani Gurvinder Singh Ji, Giani Ji is a great vidhvaan who has studied aadh, dasam, sarabloh, vedant, Sanskrit and Farsi in depth. The old Budha Dal Gutka has many typo mistakes as it was printed by Chattar Jeevan Singh Amritsar rather than Budha Dal directly. You can ask many Budha Dal Singhs they recite the extra line in Braham kavach as Giani Ji has stated.

    Next Amrit Sanchar

You just missed the monthly amritsanchar which was Yesterday (Sunday)...BUT you are very lucky as There will be an Amrit Sanchar this THURSDAY (25th December) after the Sampat Path Bhog @soho rd gurdwara.
  6. As you can see the large khanda is still used at Sri Kesgarh Sahib. But the use of smaller Khandas is not a new practice as you can also see Puratan Amrit Sanchar Khandas at Sri Hazur Sahib and also Baba Deep Singh Ji's small khanda which is similar to what is now used in amrit sanchars. In my opinion, either can be used.
  7. Re Chaur Sahib: Chaur Sahib was also done on Rajas (where the idea is from) - and is still done on certains rajas. even the sikh rajas did it, it is a symbol of royalty. Where SGGS is the Chavar Takhat de maalik it doesn't mean the chaur is exclusive to them. Also if you read Gurpartap Suraj, when a Brahamgiani passes away they enter the 8th stage of BrahamGian where there is no difference left between them and God. Anyways if it offends you i understand, as it is hard for people to see this for the first time. but the fact is all a lot of mahapurkhs have had it during antam sanskars. Your idea of wasting food is also redundant. whats next?? - why do we waste wood for a coffin, you could give it to poor ppl to build a house? Why do we waste cloth for the mahapurkhs body, we could give that too poor people instead? etc etc - such a stupid argument put forward. There is a difference in 'wasting' and doing Satkaar of great Gurmukhs. Re the hands up picture - Will you next attack Sant Isher Singh rara Sahib, Nanaksar, Sant Mihan Singh, Sant Kishan Singh ETC who all same similar pictures? STOP wasting precious time on these arguments! Instead listen to the bachans of these mahapurakhs and see what they were really about. Thats me done for this thread. Admin please delete/close this thread, as all of tuhada das' questions have been answered. Vjkk Vjkf
  8. The chaur sahib is done all on Sant mahapurkhs bodies after akaal chalana. Sant Ishar Singh nanaksar, Rara Sahib, etc etc etc if you need pics to convince you i can send you them. The parshad in the coffin is done for some reasons including Sugandhi (when the body is cremated to create a pleasant smell ) and also is traditionally done on Young Mahapurkhs who have passed away. its got nothing to do with food going to the after life. Regarding Bowing, maybe you are not familiar with any sant samparda. Every Sant Samaparda bows down to their Mahapurkh, Nanaksar, taksal, Rara sahib etc. we have this misconception we can only bow to SGGS ji. Well infact SGGS ji tells us 'Mokau Kar Santan Ki Dhoorai' - 'Jo deesai gursikhra tis niv niv laago paae jio' I'm sorry but accepting Bhana doesn't mean you cannot show your emotions. Do you think when Guru Sahib left the sikhs at Sri Hazur Sahib they were sitting there with no tears? When your Murshad leaves you what do you expect? It is bairaag, the pain of separation. Sant Ishar Singh Ji Nanaksar used to sit secluded in a forest in Dehradun after Baba Nand Singh Jis passing, with tears of separation while ragi Kehar Singh Ji sang bairagmei shabads. The hand is just a form of blessing. it is something a lot of mahapurkhs did. I hope this cleared your doubts.
  9. Kappra means cloth, a white cloth (or any type of ramala) is wrapped around the pothi sahib.
  10. Vjkk Vjkf 1. Yes a Rehal can be used for senchi sahib, firstly a clean kappra should be placed underneath the rehal, then a ramala on top the rehal, after which you can parkash your pothi sahib. 2. No a bookmark should never be used. whether its Guru Jis Saroop, a Senchi Sahib, a Pothi Sahib or a Gutka Sahib. From what i have learnt from Gursikhs a bookmark should never be used, remember - 'Pothi Parmesar Ka Than.' for keeping your place during sehaj path you should use a separate notebook, in which you record the ang number and shabad. I feel it would be more satkaar to do that then use a bookmark. this also gives you a chance to write gurbani (albeit a small amount) , extra laha! 3. in general you should keep them in a clean space, most gursikhs keep them on a clean shelf. Ramala sahib should be placed underneath them and then another ramala sahib should be placed on top. along with that they should have their own separate white ramalas which is wrapped around them. Some Gursikhs keep their Pothi Sahibs on a bed, or on a Manji Sahib which is also your own shardha but not compulsory. one thing to keep in mind is not to place the pothia on top of each other, rather side by side. Also path shouldn't be done from the Senchi Sahib with anyone sitting higher then you. Hope That Helped
  11. Full Katha - http://www.gurmatveechar.com/audio.php?q=f&f=%2FKatha%2F02_Present_Day_Katha%2FGiani_Harbhajan_Singh_%28Dhudikey%29%2FSri_Gurpartap_Sooraj_Parkash_Granth
  12. it may be true. but at the same time it may be a coincidence. if you ever watch Darbar Sahib, When a granthi comes to take over for his duty all 3 sewadars stand up. as you can see the granthi changes when the camera changes back to Satguru Ji after showing Badal.
  13. Check this video to see how easy it is to change faces in an already existing photo. 'Adobe Photoshop CS6 Face Swap Tutorial' I also do benti to these singhs, and Bhai Inderjit Singh Ji, to please make an official statement on half of Akal Bunga Sahib to clear these misconceptions.
  14. Gurfateh Ji The photos of supposedly clean shaven baba ji have many differences to how baba ji actually looked. Firstly look at Baba Ji's eyebrows. (zoom in carefully on the picture given above). In reality there is about an inch / half inch between the eyes and eyebrows. these are supposedly according to the article around the same time they say baba ji would grow his hair back to come into the sangat. What absolute rubbish. Secondly the line in-between their eyebrows is missing from the images. These images have delibartely been photoshopped/ or a person of similar features has been found. In reality these people should be legally dealt with - for slander. Gurfateh Ji Dhan Guru Dhan Guru Piyare
  15. aman12, tying a keski to bed is not a rare thing..Every gursikh I have ever met always keep their head covered with a keski when they go to sleep. personally wear a keski to bed- mostly to keep my kanga from falling out during sleep.
  16. For those who want to learn how to preserve and Repair pothi sahibs, maharaj sarups, a new organisation has been setup in the UK; 'Pothi Seva'. Currently continous ongoing seva of pothi sahibs and 4-5 workshops have been organised around UK. http://pothiseva.org.uk/ https://www.facebook.com/PothiSeva Pothi Seva is a non-profit organisation that is committed to repairing, restoring and keeping the satkaar of the physical form of Gurbani in the form of Gutka Sahibs, Pothi Sahibs and Saroops of Aad Guru Granth Sahib Jee.
  17. If you read 'khalsa jivan' by sant kartar singh ji bhindranwale, it says that sant fateh chand became sant fateh singh after taking amrit. So they were a nirmala sant who took khande ki pahul and became Sant Fateh Singh Ji
  18. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru JI KI Fateh! Can't wait for this! this is going to revolutionise gurbani apps , especially with the vishraam colour layout. Great Sewa!!! Especially with the lareevaar option as this was not available on gurbani anywhere.
  19. Yes giaan kirna is a phenomanal book. it has not been written entirely by Giani pritam singh ji,as he has incorporated the work of Giani Kirpal Singh's 'gurmukh darshan' , sant kartar singh ji's 'khalsa jivan' and giani vir singh madokes 'khalsa vachittar jivan' basically giving you a rounded version of all jivanis written of sant giani gurbachan singh ji. let me know if i can be ne service in the audiobook sewa!
  20. Read Baba Nand Singh Ji's Jivani by Bhai Gursharan Singh - it has atleast 500 of such bachans from baba ji, i will try to photocopy and put them up
  21. Baba Ji will be here in July, with usual schedule of southall, wolves, smethwick etc. when dates are confirmed will post up
  22. From the time of baba budha ji to now not one bibi has been granthi of sri darbar sahib hence sri darbar sahib granthis being called ' Singh Sahibs'. I have not till date seen a woman as a granthi of any gurdwara let alone an itihaasik gurdwara. if women really want to become granthis of itihasik gurdwaras, they have to meet the requirements of being able to read gurbani shudh and do katha , etc etc. but personally i doubt the sgpc will take that step as of yet allowing bibis to do nething in darbar sahib. above poster made excellent point - if women are not granthis in normal local gurdwaras how can we expect them to b granthis @ sri darbar sahib? families dont want their sons to b granthis and see it is a low profession job for lazy people, how will they allow their daughters to become granthis? how will women who have to take care of children/family etc be able to be able to take such a BIG responsibility of doing darbar sahib sewa. my views aside, i personally also think sampardas/ sant smaj etc will have big problems with this and be a big boulder infront any woman who wants to do this sewa. bibis can't do kirtan/ishnan sewa how will they do granthi sewa? I think we're putting the status of sri darbar sahib granthi sahib as a v small thing that ne1 can do. well that is far from the case. To become granthi sahib of sri darbar sahib one has to be very well educated in Sri Guru granth sahib, Dri Dasam granth sahib, Panth parkash , Gurpartap Suraj Granth, gurbilas etc and be very good katha vachiks in gurbani and all other granths. if bibis want to do this sewa - like ''imakaur'' said '' Before jumping onto the pavitar seva of Darbar Sahib, bibia first need to become active in other gurdwara sahibs.''
  23. That is fine, as long as u are doing ur nitnem memorised you can do what you want. if u are using a gutka sahib then it is different out of satkaar for the pothi. if you feel u can't concentrate on ur nitnem while running then don't do it. i sometime go on walks when i do my nitnem and i can concentrate fine.
  24. Gurfateh, guru sahib never themselves sat on a throne in darbar sahib, but Sri Aadh Granth Sahib jee were brought each day and done parkash at darbar sahib. so we can guess that Sri Aadh Granth Sahib were brought half way during asa ki vaar. but at the same time ive read this in a book by a kathavaachik of hazur sahib about the ithaas of hazur sahib, in which he mentions guru gobind singh ji used 2 come in their mauj during asa ki vaar, so we could conclude that guru sahib used 2 give darshan during asa ki vaar was going on ( as all sangat would be sitting waiting for guru jis darshan)- will read up on this tonight . But to date no other gurdwara sahib in the world has this maryada. Only Sri Harmandir sahib has this unique maryada at all other gurdwara sahibs Maharaj parkash is done then nitnem and asa ki vaar.
  25. veer ji, this maryada has been going on at sri harmandir sahib for CENTURIES , read singh sahib giani kirpal singh ( ex jathedar akal thakat) book on maryada and ithaas of darbar sahib.. after ishnan sewa the doors of darshani deori open, and half of asa di vaar is started, then a shabad for darshan is done ( i.e. darshan ko bal jaee, etc) during this time maharaj comes from sri kotha sahib in palki to sachkhand harmandir sahib. when the narsingha horn is blown the ragis stop kirtan all the sangat stands up and does satnam sri vaheguru jaap. maharaj comes inside and sits on their throne. premi singhs who have a permanant duty @ Darbar sahib do ' bhatta de swayeeay' while parkash is going on.. granthi singh sahib starts sewa....after the 1st ramala is taken off the granthi sahib puts guru sahib on their sees and uses a sort of cotton wool type sponge with has alot of perfume on it, 1st of all to take all the creases out of the white ramala and also make it smell nice. this is done on all the white ramaleh after to take out creases and give scent to it. after this the ramaleh are folded and 3 pillows placed on top.. when ham avgun bhare comes granthi singh does parkash etc hukamnama. after hukamnama 2-3 shabads are done then anand sahib and ardaaas for 1st chaunki of the day and for karaah parshad. after this asa di vaar is started again from where left off and done until sampooranta.
