He probably doesn't know much about the Sikh religion himself. I think your enthusiasm for the Sikh religion is causing feelings of inadequacy and guilt (to some extent), and he doesn't know how to deal with it. Don't worry, just keep doing what you're doing and don't lose heart.

...Brothers and Sisters, next time you celebrate Chrismas, remember our Sahibzadas who became Shaheed during the same time you are joyfully celebrating Christmas. How can any Sikh of Guru Gobind Singh Jee be joyful or happy at that time of the year is beyond my understanding.
I'm not against anyone celebrating or even casually observing the upcoming festivities, but as a Sikh once you realise what occurred during Sikh history when the rest of the world is celebrating Christmas, I don't see how any Sikh can bring themselves to raise a smile at that time of year. I'm always rather sad during Christmas in recent years. I don't want to be that way, but I can't help it when you think of all that happened to us a few hundred years ago. Dark times and the dard can be felt rather strongly.

Speak to a professional. You need to overcome this issue before it takes over your life.

You watch too many films your last few posts have been based but changed LOL on the discussion between bane and batman when they had that epic fight. Let me guess you also have watched Van Helsing and Django recently :lol2: Nice gravatar Stephen.
I prefer the Van Helsing from the book, but, yes, Django is a favourite of mine. As Stephen would say, "I axed you, who this Singh up on that nag?". :giggle:

I have this desire to read the bible, only for recreational reasons. Would that be OK as a Sikh, or would it be wrong. I have always wanted to know what they believe, but again I'll only be reading the bible for recreational reasons
I read a bit of the Bible once. It resulted in me becoming a fan of Charlton Heston's religious movies from the 50s. Wonderful times.

True words. When your own people have shown you nothing but contempt and treachery, whilst the so-called "other" was the only one to give you a hand when you most needed it, what is a person to think?

While on the topic of Langar, one must notice how Sucham concept is fast disappearing in Langar. I've seen so many people who while eating and without washing their hands get up and put more food on their Thaali with their jhoote hands. Furthur more, when serving Langar the server must never touch the Karchi with the joothi thaali because then that will render the Karchi jhooti as well. Gurdwara committees need to give people some basic info about keeping Suchamta in Langar.
That's just basic langar etiquette. That's madness. I wouldn't even do that at home.

A while back I remember some individuals on SS said that Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale's katha wasn't that "deep", by deep they actually meant didn't get lost in stories like those told by Giani Thakur Singh from Patiala leaving the listener with a false sense of accomplishment.
In reality Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale's katha is both deep and according to Gurmat, none better than Sant Ji (and Sant Gurbachan Singh Bhindranwale and Taksal in general). I used to like writing essays on forums like SS, but now I just see it as "vele bandeya da kam" and don't see a point anymore. Sikhi is about action and understanding Gurbani prema bhagti.

Some like to add their own masaleh to spice up proceedings, all the while thinking, "As long as it gets the sangat on-side, whether it's strictly true or not it doesn't really matter as long as I'm not blaspheming or leading them away from Waheguru". Whilst others stick to the message, not one syllable more or less, and they leave it up to us to take the decision, without any inducements of any sort. Whatever works I guess.

There's two ways to look at it: Some analyse to truly comprehend (and occasionally it does go over the head of most people such as myself), whilst there's a few who analyse and over-expand to make themselves feel superior to the simple folk. I guess it depends a lot on the intention.

Well, whoever recites Sukhmani Sahib will get the phall of it, even if they were told to do it by a "fradulent" baba. But I suppose if you recite it for material gain as opposed to spiritual bliss, that's when you end up taking liberties.

For most Sikhs it just bleeds into Diwali, imo. You rarely get people to differentiate between the two when most Sikhs are behind closed doors. It might've made a difference if the two festivals had occured on different dates, but I guess historically Guru Sahib arrived back at Amritsar from prison on Diwali, was it?

Imagine instead of a gruesome murder if the “shaheeds” had chosen a non-violent method of protest. You all know what the consequences of the assassination were:
- Genuine grief from around the world including their political leaderships and validation of their view that Sikhs were a violent terrorist group
- Grief and anger of the mass non-Sikh Indian population
- Horrific revenge genocide that shamed India and humanity
Did the assassination really serve the interests of the Sikh quam or destroy thousands of innocent Sikh lives and livelihoods?
Was their action wise - yet you chose to call them “shaheeds”.
They are shaheeds whatever the ramifications of their actions. The fact they chose to sacrifice their lives for what they thought was the only way to stop a leader and her government hell-bent on the destruction of a minority, shows they felt there was no other course of action. What India chose to do to Sikhs post-Indira Gandhi is a reflection of its sick, depraved nature.

You've done it, so you can't change it. I'm guessing you're unmarried? I think it's the feelings of guilt that you are getting you down? You could torment yourself, slip further into despair, but forget all that, and resume your life from the point you feel it all went a bit pear-shaped. If you feel what you did was wrong ask for forgiveness and get on with life. You can't really do much than that.

I like you, I like you a lot. You sound like me, but I only thought it lol
I've been thinking the same for a few weeks now. May God forgive us.
In terms of this topic, we (Sikh men) start crying when Sikh females begin to look at white guys or men from other races as potential life partners, but when Sikh bibiya want to have a bit of a swim with other like-minded Sikh bibiya we still aren't happy, because somehow we think it'll descend into a scene from Baywatch. I'm all for modesty, decency, and self-respect, but give these bibiyan some credit.

what is difference between a nikker/chadi and guru da baksheya kachera if its gona be so small , that swim shorts will cover it? O_O
but as Vanhelsing pointed there are full body swim suits for women too, but the are not doing wave surfing lol
It doesn't matter, some guys use those full-body suits indoors when swimming (something about the chlorine in the water not being right for their skin, I'm not sure though(, so if guys can do that then I don't see why bibiya cannot.

There's full body spandex (?) swimming costumes for guys, so I imagine there has to be something similar for the ladies.

I guess it boils down to you being strong enough to look beyond the past of a girl who has partaken in such things, IF the girl is devoted to you, and you feel she is a good person who may have gone through a phase in the foolishness of youth (amongst other things). If you want somebody untouched then you have no choice but to keep on waiting until that girl comes along. Simple.

Bro, Sri Akal Takht Sahib does not endorse eating meat, it prohibits the eating of halal. There is a difference. Dont confuse people.
Everytime there's been a thread on meat eating Cisco Singh turns up and says Akal Takhat Sahib says it's fine for Sikhs to eat meat. As far as I can recall he's never mentioned halal.
