  1. there are many diverse schools of sikhee and the current system allows Gianis to gain experience and then apply to GuruGhars run with similair maryada. there are weaknesses which you've mentioned but copying islam for everything is not the answer. the muslim council of britain is rejected by a lot of practising muslims. clerics may have degrees but are far from practising. similarly in punjab people buy degrees all the time. people just ask badal for anything and he grants degrees and jobs. this would give him power to send people abroad too. also sgpc-run Giani degree course would more than likely be taught according to Missionary College thinking. we have too many of these know-it-all scholars in our panth without having one in every GuruGhar rejecting Baniaan, questioning history and all sorts of crap. punjab institutions are too messed up to rely on for sikhee education. better to keep existing system but adopt a domestic country (UK-based) Training Course and Test run by an independent body for all Gianis to prove they have the skills to conduct Gurmaryada, Akhand/Sehaj Paath, english-speaking skills to set minimum standards.
  2. i could simply state likewise how arrogant of you to say all youth do nothing but i dont want to lower myself to that level. you focus on you and ill focus on me. there are a lot of youth who are organised and are doing absolutely vital sewa out of their own pocket and yes some do resent the fact that they receive no support whatsoever from Gurdwara prabandhaks who often decide Sangat's money is better spent on extensions, unnecessary legal court cases and radio, newspaper and televison to promote themselves. this is why we're ending up with large empty buildings run by little hitlers, that's what arrogance is. the council will be issue-based which is good. the nso, bscf and others failed because the government played groups off against each other. i hope SCUK does move things forwards. lets encourage each other. i hope those in the council become strong in their sikhee and that the council flourishes. lets encourage each other not to hide tiny replica kirpan under our shirts or tying and dying our dara especially in council as media picks up on this & it will give sangat confidence that these are people who will fight for our kakaars. slowly but surely i hope stronger, more inspirational role models will emerge within the council. maybe even one day a pressure group if the people at the front are charasmatic. wish you all good luck. God bless
  3. i dont look to them for the answers anymore. that's what sheep do. well done for avoiding all the real issues discussed in my post. i've already been part of your organisations but unlike some am capable to think for myself now. i got off my arse and did more for your groups than you have, my young billy goat. besides i'm not the one claiming to run jathebandhis and organisations and then milking sangat for funds. there isnt one tyaar bar tyaar singh in these organisations, they're majority old biffers fattened up on all the jalebiaan and pakoray they been eating for 3 decades at Sangat's expense yet achieving little in return. you keep following the sheep in front of you into the pen and leave the rest of us youth to not be the political puppets of traitor old fogeys.
  4. why when people state genuine concerns do we gang up and issue threats to silence them rather than addressing the problems? many of those who don't support this new council have taken active roles in these "organisations", for many years. Guru Ji would probably advocate keeping cauldrons of burning hot oil ready for those who abuse their responsibilities. someone called this "progress". do you think these people have achieved so much over 3 decades that we now need an entire BOARD OF JATHEDARS? are you kidding?! i guess the blind follow the blind like sheep. these self-proclaimed "leaders" who between them have collectively achieved sod all over the last 3 decades, if you still want to blindly follow them and give them even more influence then arent you equally to blame for the mess that will come in the next generation? you should be asking your "leaders" what they have achieved with all the manpower and donations they've had? where did it all go? these guys have been at the forefront of creating splits in our community in terms of caste, meat/sharaab, politics, links to punjab parties, rehit, taking stances against banis, supporting darshan lal and so on. do you think the government is stupid? they want to avoid giving us our rights at ANY cost. the only way to get our rights is by connecting to our grassroots - uniting monay and amritdhari, encouraging them to become stronger in sikhi & from that build strongly founded organisations. this is the opposite, a council very loosely connected to religious institutions mismanaged by thugs and gangsters. you are bringing politics into faith not faith into politics, the complete OPPOSITE of what our Gurus did. this is why we remain so divided. our media channels, our religious institutions and our new council are all run by people who are not only far from sikhi but actively only interested in how to make money from the faith and how to promote themselves. if any of this is not true, why not ask each affiliate member to show how many baniaan they have bothered to memorise? how many of your affiliates dish out bottles of alcohol to get elected? or use violence to maintain a vice-grip on their kursia? even mr bal at sikh channel loves them so long as they encourage people to subscribe, provide funds and give access to record events. they all siphon off the top like they do with building projects. this is not sikhee its called RACKETEERING. so many people are put off sikhee because of these people. people from all communities see Guru Ji as inspirational but when they see so many of our institutions and organisations led by these lowlifes, training up and moulding generations in their own image rather than GuruJi's its disgraceful. rather than get rid of the weeds, this gives them more publicity & entrenches their tentacles further into our community. i dont want to see other youngsters get duped by these old fogeys who are desperate for the limelight, jathedaris and siropas. those youngsters who wish to do sewa may be better off helping in GuruGhars or starting small, local groups with simple aims and achieve them. leave these lot to it.
  5. too many of these old-school committee types give out bottles of alcohol to get voted in during elections so why would they take the culturally unpopular decision of closing these party halls down? ironically these people taking major roles in sikh council and always appearing on sikh channel saying how great a job they're doing. sikh channel promotes these people because they encourage people to subscribe and are future providers of funds and ease of access for events. cultural people with no pyaar for sikhi except to make money out of it have taken over our Gurughars, media, political parties and other institutions. time for us to reclaim them
  6. nice to see youngsters who can think for themselves rather than being brainwashed PAs of older treacherous committee types. fantastic to see youth taking lead role in ensuring Gurmaryada is implemented.
  7. remember press are double edged so use very carefully. these besharam committees that allow sharaab and that set such a bad example. lets see what the new sikh council does about this issue.
