  1. Shabad: Saachaa Dhan gurmatee paa-ay Raag: Dhanaasree mehlaa 3. chahu jug meh amrit saachee banee. Throughout the four ages, the True Bani of His Word is Ambrosial Nectar. poorai bhaag Har Naam samaanee. By perfect destiny, one is absorbed in the True Name. siDh saaDhik tarseh sabh lo-ay. The Siddhas, the seekers and all men long for the Name. poorai bhaag paraapat ho-ay. It is obtained only by perfect destiny. sach saachaa sach aap drirh-aa-ay. He is the Truest of the True; He Himself implants the True Name within. naanak aapay vaykhai aapay sach laa-ay. O Nanak, the Lord Himself sees all; He Himself links us to the Truth. In this Shabad, Sree Guru Amar Das Maharaj, is telling us something more on the topic of this thread. First of all, He is telling us that, throughout all the "yugas, the eras, Nam is the only Amrit, Nam is the way to get salvation, by getting freed from the cycle of births and deaths. This affirmation of Amar Das Maharaj as per Nam is the "panacea", the Amrit, at all times, gives us some more information, than that what we are used to hear and believe. And that is, that, Gurmat did not start with Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj, nor did it end with tenth Patshahee Guru Gobind Singh. Guru Nanak came about 700 years back, which means we were already in the Kali Yuga. And Guru Amar Das is mentioning all the four yugas.....all of them together are many many thousands of years, isn´t it? This takes to another point to refelect about the truths of the Bani, if Nam is the Amrit for all ages, that means, Gurmukhs have always existed since the very begining...and shall continue to exist, at least that is what Guru Amar Das is saying. This also implies that, no matter how many parlays or mahaparlays may ocurr, but Wahiguru has the same way always for all beings(souls) to bring them back to Him , which is through Nam. He does not say Nam is for a particular community, race, mazab, religion, or land, but for all the creation. Gurmukhs do not make anything of their own, but they only speak, what Akal Purukh tells them to convey us. And that is what, all our Guru Sahibans and Gurmukhs have done. That is why the Bani says: Har jee baseh Sadh kee rasna...Har Jee baseh, Sadh ke hirdey Then He is mentioning "poorai bhag" paraapat ho-ay and "poorai bhaag" har naam samaanee. This means, though Nam is present in everyone and everywhere, only a few handful, a few wadbagee jeevas, will come to know how to reveal it within themselves....not only that, but merge and become one with that Nam. The rest will be engaged in all other activities, or they will simply not accept these teachings. What to say about ordinary human beings in this case...not even the gods, godesses, devis, devtas, angels ...know about this very fact and reality. We may ask why, is this so? Or how can this be possible? The answer is, His "mauj". And in front of His will, who can oppose Him? That is why Third Patshahee says: sach saachaa sach aap drirh-aa-ay. This means, He Himself implants it through His Gurparsad, within the hearts of those wadbhagees... And to the end, He says: Nanak aapay vaykhai, aapay sach laa-ay Wahiguru Himself sees all; and He Himself links us to the Truth, that is Himself... Dhan Dhan Satguru Amar Das Maharaj... for showering us with such truths, of His pure paviter Bani.
  2. Har Maarag Saadhhoo Dhasiaa, Japeeai Guramanth The Holy Saint has shown me the Way to the Lord; I chant the GurMantra. Raag Gauri, Guru Arjan Dev
  3. Brothers, first of all, let me clear one thing, I am no authority to talk on these matters, so as to say, do this or do that. No. I am my self a seeker, maybe morally worse than any normal being. Then too, whatever had to be said, our Guru Sahibans have left us with the akhoot bhandaar of their gyan in the Guru Granth Sahib. It is for each one of us to dive in deep and take those precious jewels and make ourselves spiritually wealthy. Just as each one has to eat himself/herself to satisfy his/her hunger...in the same way; if we have spiritual hunger, we should follow practically Gurmat. Our Guru Sahibans who where the embodiment of Truth, of Akal Purukh, when they came on this earthly plane, people did not believe them, in some cases even their near family members did not realize who they were, many others misbehaved with them, and abused them, either verbally or physically ...so brothers, who am I? A sinner only. Absolutely whatever had to be said and explained, is already written in the Bani. I am not going to discover anything new, as there is nothing left as such. I have given simple and clear quotes from the Bani in a nutshell, in the post above, but even that seems that is not understandable...so what guarantee is there, that with much more thesis the Bani will be understood? Absolutely none, but one thing is sure, hot discussions....what for? Ego? That what I say or think is right and the others are wrong....No need for that. I very well know human nature, who has a tendency towards conflicts, controversies, hatred...and really, there is no need for all this. I am not saying directly to you, that you are like this, but surley it can happen with anybody. What so ever has to be realized, shall be realized, only by practically following what is written in the Bani. It is entirely us upon us, if we want to follow and obey the Bani alone, or many other things along. But that much I can say, the whole of the Guru Granth Sahib is nothing but mahima of Wahiguru Akal Purukh and His true form which is Nam or Shabad, on each and every ang of it, is full of this wadeeayee. Once again I am going to copy and paste the beautiful quotation in the above post of Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj, which by itself is quite explanatory, and you shall get the answer of your question from it. It is for us to pay attention and reflect upon it, and dig deep enough, to get out the Amrit from it: Sun sundar, saaDhoo bachan uDhaaree. Listen, O beautiful soul-bride, By the Word of the Holy Saint, you shall be saved. jo ih mantar kamaavai, naanak, so bha-ojal paar utaaree. One who practices this Mantra, O Nanak, swims across the terrifying world-ocean Raag Aasaa, Sree Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj. P.S: Please do not misinterpret me, if any bhool chook, taking me as a brother, just forgive me.
  4. Sathigur Kaa Sach Sabadh Kamaavahu Meditate on the true Shabad, given by a Satguru Thhir Ghar Baithae, Prabh Apanaa Paavahu Remain steady and stable within the home of your own self, and find God Raag Asa, Guru Arjan Dev Maharaj. Above are the words of Sachay Patshah, Sree Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj, which can be the answer to your question. He is telling us that, do the Simran of Nam only. You do not need to go anywhere, nor need anything else. No rituals, no rites, no pilgrimages, no flowers, fruits, incense, lamp....nothing of that sort. It is our mind, which we have to get treated, which is the root cause of our sorrows, pain and our presence in the endless cycle of births and deaths. Wahiguru has everything, there is nothing that we weak humans can give Him, everything is polluted by us. And He knows that, but even then, He accepts our "kachee bhakti". So during our bhakti of Nam Simran, we still our minds, and that is offering Him, our mind. And He, as a washerman, washes the dirt accumulated on it, and thus gets it purified , with the (soap)Amrit of His Nam. Then once the mind is purified and pacified, it does not bother the soul anymore, and releases the soul from it´s clutches. It is like the rat is given mercury in the traps, set to catch it, and as it´s belly is heavy and can not move by ingesting it, so it stops doing mischiefs and lays down, then the house owner catches it and throws it away the from its house. In the same way, once the mind tastes the "ras" of Nam, it gets defeated by the soul. Nam is the only medicine to nullify the mind forever, anything else is temporary. Once this mind is conquered, then the soul crosses the causal region and enters Parbraham region, it is only then, that it is pure in essence and nature, as it has been removed from the phiysicall, astral and causal coverings on it. Continuing with Nam Bhakti, the soul proceeds further and reaches Sach Khand. There it gets the darshan of Akal Purukh Satnam, and merges in it. That is why the bani says: Jin Har jaapiya, se Har hoeeya. Any soul, Sant, Gurmukh, Satguru, upon reaching there become one with Him, without any distinction. Many of our brothers or sisters have that impression, even the rest of mortals, that even by reaching His abode, each and everyone continues with his/her own personality. Which is totally wrong. Suppose today anyone of us reaches Sach Khand, we shall only see Akal Purukh alone...no Guru Sahibans, no Gurmukhs, no saheeds, no Sants....nothing. Why? Because they have blended in Him, they have merged in Him, becoming Him. They emerged from Him, for a particular purpose, for a particular period of time, to bring back with them an alloted number of souls marked by Wahiguru, and once they reach there back, the wonder or wonder happens, nobody remains as such, because all from individual drops, souls; have become the One mighty Ocean. So this is one braham , one misconception we have to get it cleared. Maybe somebody is thinking , one day when I reach Sach Khand, I shall see the 10 Gurus sitting beside Akal Purukh, the other bhagats mentioned in the Bani, or even the other Gurmukhs who have been coming at our human level, like Sant Paltu Sahib, Sant Tukaram, Sehjo Bai, Guru Ravi Das, Kabir Sahib, etc...all of them together like in a congress. That is not Gurmat. The bani says: Sach Khand vaseh Nirankar. There in Sach Khand only Wahiguru exists, so naturally anybody upon arriving there, becomes Him. Is it not that the purpose of any sikh, of any seeker? As long as we do not merge and become one with Him, we are imperfect, we are still in the realms of mind, maya, kal and karmas.....Be it may Baikunth, Swarg or heavens...all these stages are under Maya, thus are transient and perishable, are very much in the boundaries of Parlay and Mahaparlay. And so the Bani tells us, that in order to become one with Him, we should only give our mind, body and soul, to the only one Akal Purukh. Har iko Daata seviye, Har iko dheeaeeyeh. It is moorakhta to place our hopes on any other beings, apart from one wahiguru Akal Purukh. He is the one sustainer, protector for absolutely all beings. If we depend on anyone else apart from Him, we shall never get freed from Maya. Just let us think. Either we are with Him, or we are not with Him. So If anybody past, we worship or show our reverence, what is the sense in it? If that individual soul has merged in Him, then why not directly worship Him; and if that is not the case, and those souls are supposed to be somewhere, because some say that they have been seen, then too, what is the sense in worshipping them, because if they have not succeded in reaching Wahiguru, and are stuck somewhere for any reason, how can they avail us? They can only avail us up to what they themselves have achieved, and surely they are not one with Wahiguru, that is why they are being seen, and not Wahiguru . In darkness only stars and moon can be seen. There where the powerful Sun is, no stars or moon are seen... So let us give our love, faith and devotion, to the only one Wahiguru Akal Purukh. It is popularly known: jaisa dheeayeeh, taisa hoeeyeh. As you meditate so you become. If you meditate on the one Perect Lord Wahiguru, you shall reach there where He is. If you meditate on anything apart from Wahiguru, we shall never reach Him. He is "sarvavyapak", means omnipresent. So if He is present everywhere and in everyone, is it not shameful to place our hopes and faiths on any others than Him? Read the Bani, only His mahima, His wadeeayee is described, that also just a fraction of His inmense Majesty. Why have we created and added so many external elements in Gurmat, thus creating and spreading delusion among the human beings? The essence of Nam in Gurmat is lost, and only rites , rituals, pilgrimages, moortee pujas are the daily bread in our lives... The Bani alerts us by saying, do whatever you may, but if you do not do Nam Simran... then that what you have done, is just like decorating a dead corspe. Singhoo, the Bani left by our Guru Sahibans and Gurmukhs, is a treasure beyond measure. Let us go throughly, and put into practice what it says: Awar kaaj, tere kitteh na kaam, mil Sadh Sangat, bhaj kewal Nam. To end this post, in accordance to the above thread, I would like to bring the following words of Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj, as a gist of Gurmat, to the all blessed sangat: Sun sundar, saaDhoo bachan uDhaaree. Listen, O beautiful soul-bride: By the Word of the Holy Saint, you shall be saved. jo ih mantar kamaavai, naanak, so bha-ojal paar utaaree. One who practices this Mantra, O Nanak, swims across the terrifying world-ocean Raag Aasaa, Sree Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj.
  5. Anything that is used has it´s value... Well, we are on a english expressed website for comunication among ourselves...and so are you, using it. The question here is not about what language is better or best, the question is about the meaning Wahiguru as per the title of this thread... If you want to see what language is best...you may start a poll about it :stupidme: :cool2: :biggrin2:
  6. On Gyan Raag Aasaa, Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj. ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਆਵੈ Gur Kirapaa Thae Eih Math Aavai गुर किरपा ते इह मति आवै By Guru's Grace, this wisdom has come. Here Sachay Patshah Guru Arjun Dev, is telling us that, the true spiritual wisdom, spiritual understanding, is not gained by studying or reciting books, or getting degrees from universities on religion, or dharam. But, it is a consequence of His Grace. And this Grace is showered, when He is pleased. We may ask, how is He pleased? The Bani says, by doing Nam jaapna. And this Nam Simran can not be performed by all or anyone just like that. It is also by His Grace, if He so wishes. Just as Panchvee Patshahee in this very Raag, at other place, He says: So Naam Japai, Jo Jan Thudhh Bhaavai He alone meditates on your Nam, he who is pleasing to your will. Dear sangat, let us read and understand the Bani, with love and devotion, so that we may put into action, what our Guru Sahibans have told us, forget everything else, and just love Wahiguru, for the sake of love alone, and love is best expressed by pleasing the Beloved, and pleasing beloved wahiguru, is not by words, rituals, sacrifices... but by unwavering devotion within oneself (Nam Simran) at His Lotus Feet.
  7. If I am humbly allowed to answer your enquiry, I would say in simple words according to Gurmat, that: Only one without second Wahiguru Akal Purukh is "Sach" everlasting Truth, apart from that, everything is "koor" is delusion. And the connecting link between us and Him, is "sharda" is faith, through the practical method, or jugtee of Nam Simran. Wah wah Sachay Badshah.

Raag Jaitsiri, Sree Guru Ram Das Maharaj
  9. Though brother Sikhseeker has given a very good reply above, we could say that while living in this world we have to deal with several situations in which we may find ourselves, whether willingly or not so...so it is better to draw a line at some point. Sikhseeker has mentioned the strings of a musical instrument, or the skin on the tabla, the same could be said about our shoes, belts, etc....as being made of animal origin, where their lives have been sacrified... But surely, if one feeds animals with meat or non veg, you are carrying upon yourself, unnecessary karmas on your head. Poor animals do not ask you to do so. Let us forget or not speak for a moment of those who do not believe in these things, but if oneself understands what eating meat implies, how can we feed others with it? Though they maybe animals. Or is it that this law of karmas, is for mankind only? No no no, it is the same for all creatures, from a microbe to the gods ....none can escape its tentacles. Though it is more strict for humans, as they have sense of discrimination which is known as "budh". Animals act upon their instincts, so they have no choice, as nature has made them so. It is we humans, who have this budh and intellect also, beacuse in comparison to all other creatures below us, it is we alone that have all the five tattawas active in us. As we know the whole creation is made of five elements or tattwas: air, water, fire, earth and ether or akash. All the creatures, living beings, make the wheel of eighty four, " chaurasi ka chakar". The lowest forms of creation in this world is the vegetable kingdom, in which only one element is active, which is water. The second category is of the insects: in them only 2 elements are active, which are: fire and air. The 3rd category belongs to the bird kingdom, in them only 3 elements are active: water, fire and air. The 4th category belongs to the mammals or four legged animals, in them except ether or akash is dormant, the rest 4 are active. In the 5th category comes the human being, in him all the 5 elements are active, that is what distinguishes him from the rest of the creation, the element akash, gives him the reasoning faculty, known also as "budh" along with intelligence. Now this was a short and a quick description of the physical creation. Lets now take the following example to ilustrate the topic being disscused above: Let us imagine, seeing someone pluking a flower from somebody´s garden, the owner sees him and give him a good scolding. 2nd case, somone kills the dog of this same fellow, the case can be reported to the police and the infractor can be fined. After some time, somone kills this man´s horse, this time the infractor can be jailed. After sometime again, some dacoit enters this man´s house and kills the house owner, this time the dacoit can be hanged, for his crime. So as we can see, for each infraction there has been a punishment, according to the degree of of the infraction commited. The punishment depends on the degree of the level of conciousness present in that particular form of life, consequently depends on the degree of the tattwas present or active in that form of life. We can not live in this creation without creating karma; and so, if we have to create karma by force, let us create or collect the least amount of it; that is why it is recomended by the Saints to live on the vegetarian diet, by doing that, we collect the minnimum karma on our heads. The kiling in this creation is done on each step, and is unavoidable, but by going for a vegetarian diet, killing is done to a lower level of conciousness. It is easier, to walk wearing a shirt, than to have 100 pounds of weight on our heads. In the same way, anybody who wants to walk on the path of devotion , on the path of ruhaniyat, of spirituality, will by himself see, this need to be put into practice, not otherwise. We have millions of people in this world, 99.99 % are not vegetarians , but they are still going. So it is the conscious aim, which makes one decide in this way. Most hindus think, the cows are sacred, so they do not eat meat of the cow, they are only cheating themselves. Others think monday is a holy day for it is Shiva´s day´, or today is Satya Narayan (full moon) so today we should not eat meat. Poor world, covered by maya and agyanta. Anything we do, we must see some logic behind it, and not walk blindly, just because we may be born in some particular caste, creed or religion. If meat eating is poison for oneself, how can it not be poison for others? There is no logic in it. What is the need to have animals, so to say that we have to feed them by incurring in heavy karmas upon ourselves, that also when, already we have countless tons of them on us... Each one has a free will to lead his own life, nobody should be forced on anything....just as Wahiguru does with us. He says, though you are my very own children, but I entirely leave your will on you, I shall never force you...it is you who go astray by your misbehaviour, or you can walk straight and reach me, it is fully your choice. We also have to learn this from Wahiguru, to respect each and everybody... we may give an advice, but leave it then, there is nothing personal in it, each and every one has to tread responsibily his/her own way. If Wahiguru being omnipotent, all powerful does not forces or imposes anything on anybody, who are we then to do the contrary then? Wahiguru Jee.
  10. It coluld be, because it is written in english, as in english they have both V and W letters, so they have double choices.....and as seen in english, whether written with V or with W, thare is hardly any difference, isn´t it? Jokes apart, we should not get entangled with the words or how they are written....but special care sholud be taken to see, if we looking at our goal Wahiguru, rather than the surroundings.
  11. Thankfully karmas are not like a contagious disease, like for example someone in our family is having cold or a flu, so there are chances to catch one .... Karmas are very strange sometimes for us humans to understand, but they are always individual, though they maybe collective at some point. Anything we may do in this creation, is a bondage, is karma. If we do good karmas we shall have rewards, if we do bad karmas, we shall suffer pain and misery, but in no case shall we be free from the cycle of births and deaths. So we may ask ourselves, is there anything that could be done, which not only does not create new karma but also burns away the previous stock. Well according to our Guru Sahibans, there is a remedy for it. They say: Sarab rog ka oukhad Nam. Means Nam simran is the remedy for all our illnesses or karmas. Why? Because it is the only power beyond the spheres of Maya and Kal. As Wahiguru is karmaless, so by attaching ourselves to His Nam, we too become inmaculate, become karmaless. This is the mahanta of Wahiguru and His Nam.
  12. Nanak, Sadh, Prabh, bhed nahee bahee Nanak proclaims, there is no difference between a Sadh, a Gurmukh and the one Lord Wahiguru. Sukhmani Sahib, Guru Arjrun Dev
  13. Dear Kaur jee, There should not be any difficulties in pursuing studies at the uni or any other place where knowledge or science is imparted. The difficulties arise only when we do not have a clear mind in any sphere, whether it is material or whether it is spiritual. Wordly knowledge is useful to interact with the world in a better way, so that we are preapred well enough to earn our daily bread, and not because we follow a particular path, we are less than others. You see, we are spiritual beings going through a human expirience. So while in this human body we have to live in this world, up to our last breath as normal beings, as we have to settle our karmic accounts with our families, our friends, our neigbours, and co-workers. Every relation in this world is based on karmas...to some we have to give, from others we have to get, once these are settled, each and everyone goes his/her own way or destiny. Coming back to sikhee, we must understand what is sikhee...we must have a clear picture about it, in order to adjust ourselves in a natural manner in the envoirements that me may have to be. The sikhee, or gurmat, is solely for God realization, not to bind us in chains, such as land, politics, community, dharam, rituals, pilgrimages, etc, which are all transient, and perishable, except His Nam. Sikhee is no rites nor rules,it is a path of love and devotion, at the lotus Feet of Wahiguru. Sikhee, means siksha, means sikhiya.... which is a practical method of uniting our souls with wahiguru Akal Purukh, through Nam Simran bhakti. So sikhee or Gurmat, is just a practical science, or discipline of the union of the individual soul(atma), with the Param-Atma. That´s it. Anything apart from that, is "manmaat", means made by man himself. Let us read the Bani and pay attention to it, in any Shabad, in any Raag, in any tuk, only mahima of Wahiguru is uttered and His Nam, which is His essence. Read the Bani of any Gurmukh any bhagat, of any time of any place, only bhakti of one Akal Purukh, through Nam simran is the baseline of their teachings. Gurmat as such, did not start with Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj, neither did it end with Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj, as Sachay Patshah Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj says: Eh nidaan japai man koe, sabh jug mah taa kee gat ho'e Whoever meditates on this treasure(of Nam) within (one´s body or Harmandir), in any of the four yugas, is liberated. Guru Sahiban says clearly"sabh jug meh taa kee gat hoe". Guru Nanak Maharaj came just about seven hundred years back, so is it that, those who came before Guru Nanak, were all condemmed? It does not sound logical. Gurmat is simple, the teachings of Gurmukhs is simple, it is we moorakhs who have modified, manipulated and adulterated their Bani, within the four walls of our minds, like the rest of the religions. Otherwise Gurmat is sweet, Gurmat is ambrosial, Gurmat is the path to walk towards our goal, which is none other than Wahiguru. Sree Guru Amar Das Maharaj, in Raag Basant tells us the secret of our meeting and merging in Satnam: ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ Anadhin Saach Naam Oucharai अनदिनु साचु नामु उचरै Night and day, he chants the True Name; ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰੈ Ein Bidhh Praanee Dhuthar Tharai इन बिधि प्राणी दुतरु तरै In this way, he crosses over the treacherous world-ocean. He is telling us that all the 24 hours, sing His Glory which is in reality Nam Simran, He does not say in morning do this or that, or in the evening or at night do this or that .... no no no... He is saying: Anadin Saach Nam Oucharai, which means: From morning to night, if any one true thing, true bhakti, true devotion, has to be done, do only Nam Simran. It is we people who have complicated things in our own way, "in manmat"..... again, there is nothing wrong in following all our rituals, our rites, if only we do not miss from our sight the true sikhiya, the true sikhee, which is Nam Simran alone... Just as seen above, any true Gurmukh of any time, like Sachay Patshah Sree Guru Amar Das Maharaj, in just 2 lines, He has revealed the secrets of spirituality for us, He stresses on Nam Simran alone, the only permanent and eternal Truth, throughout all the ages. Whether past, present or future....the method of realizing Him, is only one, as He is also only One... The Bani by itself is nothing, but a song of true love, of devotion between the soul and the Lord Wahiguru, It shows us, what qualities are required by the bride soul, to appear beautiful in the eyes of the Lord, and call His attention. Well, the Guru Sahibans for that purpose tell us the following words: Awar kaaj tere kitteh na kam, mil Sadh Sangat aur bhaj kewal Nam. Means, leave aside all things, just get in touch of a Gurmukh, get the Gurparasd from Him, and do khoob its kamaee....that is it. Nam is the only reality, the only Truth, as Wahiguru is Nirankar, but the Bani says: Jin Har jaapiya se Har hoeeya. Har simran meh Prabh aap Nirankara. If we attach ourselves with Wahiguru with His Simran, we shall go to Him, naturally. But if we attach ourselves with our land, communities, etc, we shall have to return back in this world as they are bondages around our necks. That is why the Bani says: Dharam bhomee ka jisko abhiman, so andha moorakh agyan... I think our Guru Sahibans can not be more clear. Wahiguru alone should be our objective, our goal, apart from it, everthing is maya, everything is koor When we shall depart from this world, nobody will ask us what is your zaat, paat, mazab, community....nothing of that sort, only how much kamaee of Nam simran have you done, or not at all. And this path of our devotion for Wahiguru, is a personal and an intimate relation with Him, we should not publicize it. Each and everyone should bother about, whether I am doing the right thing(Nam Bhakti) to please my Beloved Wahiguiru, or am I doing manmaat, by doing everything else. Because if we follow Gurmat, in due time we shall progress, and then our faith and love which are weak now, shall become hard as a rock by His Grace, then nobody can shake us, come whatever it may, may happen whatever it may be, but we shall stand firm at His Lotus Feet. Wahiguru has kept Himself for us in equal measure within ourselves, it is only that much we have to do, that we must lift the veil of our mind and arise above it through Nam Simran, that we may have a glimplse of His darshan and ultimately merge in Him. That is the purpose of sikhee, that is the purpose of Gurmat.
  14. In this shabad of bhagat Namdev, He underlines for us the teachings of Gurmat. And as we know, from Gurmat we come to understand that Wahiguru Akal Purukh, is not to be sought or found in lifless things made of any of the again inert five elements: like earth(stone, paper, wood, iron, pilgrimages etc...), water, air, fire and ether. All the world is going blinded by maya in the wrong directions, and thus do not find their objective, their goal...though they may reach heavens or Baikunt maybe.... but that is not the reality. Because the only reality is Wahiguru Akal Purukh, Parbraham Parmeshawar, Paree Pooran Parmatma, who is beyond maya, kal and karmas... Then he mentions that the spiritual teacher(Gurmukh, Sant Jan, Sadh, Brahamgyani), as being wiser than all others. They are wiser because, they know where He really resides, and thus tell us to do the same. They tell us that if at any place He is to be found, it is only within you( Harmandir eheu sareer hae...). And the metod of transportation to Him, is through Nam only. That is why the Bani says: Nanak, Nam jahaaz hae. The main differences as seen in the Shabad of Bhagat Namdev, between Gurmat and any other religion or path, is that, while others try to find Him outside at different places and in lifless perisahbles things created by man himself...and Gurmat teaches us to find Him, in the real temple of God, which is this human body, made by Himself and where He has seated Himself, and that to reach Him, we need nothing made of this world, as all is mayavee, all is transient and perishable, but to hold and board on the only reality and truth which is His Nam. And all this we do not come to know by ourselves, but we are thankful to Him, by letting us learn, something about Him, about His glory, in Sadh kee sangat, through Gurparsad. This is His real blessing upon us humans.
  15. THE BODY IS LIKE A DREAM, WHEN THE BODY ITSELF IS UNREAL, THEN ALL THINGS OF THIS WORLD ARE UNREAL NAM ALONE IS TRUE HOLD FAST TO IT. WORLDLY AFFAIRS ARE GOVERNED BY OUR PAST KARMAS. GOOD OR BAD, THEY HAVE TO BE GONE THROUGH. WE SHOULD HAVE NO ANXIETY ABOUT THEM. RATHER WE SHOULD BE ANXIOUS ABOUT NAM SIMRAN. THE BEGINING AND THE END OF ALL THINGS IS SHABAD. ALL GROSS MATTER, THE SKY AND SO FORTH, SUBTLE MATTER, SOUND, FORM, TASTE AND SCENT ARE ALL SHABAD. WHATEVER EXISTS IS SHABAD. WHATEVER IS MANIFESTED FROM SHABAD CANNOT BE ANYTHING, BUT SHABAD. SHABAD IS OUR CREATOR. SHABAD IS OUR SUSTAINER. WE ARE OF SHABAD, AND SHABAD IS OURS.
  16. On Nam and Purity "The mortal ears, can never hear that Music(Nam, Shabad), For their sense of hearing, is dulled by worldly pleasures." (Maulana Rum) "It is only Ram Nam (Nam Simran) that can ferry thee across, Beyond the three worlds (physical, astral, causal) it burns all thy sins. Purifieth it thy heart, giveth thee enlightenment And besteweth upon thee immortality." (Sehjobai)
  17. MAHIMA OF GURMUKHA KEE DHOOR "Make the dust of Guru's feet, the collyrium of thine eyes, It grants vision internal, and mind purifies." "The dust of a Sadhu's feet, in its refulgence is purer than all the sixty eight places of pilgrimage. And the ground on which he sets his feet is truly sacred."
  18. In the Guru Granth Sahib, a very high Bhagat´s Bani is included. If we pay attention to it carefully, it lays stress on Nam Bhakti, just as our Guru Sahibans, that is why Sree Guru Arjun Dev Patshah inclued it in the Granth Sahib. Following is just an example, of His such a pure paviter Bani: Mera tera manua, kaise ek hoi re. Main kahata hu aankhin dekhi, t ukahata kaagad ki lekhi, Mein kahata surajhavanhaari, tu rakhyo arujhaai re. Main kahata tu jaagat rahiyo, tu rahata hai soi re. Mein kahata nirmohi rahiyo, tu jata hai mohi re. Jugan – jugan samjhaavat haara, kaha na maane koi re. Tu to ranDi, phire bihanDi, sab dhan Daare khoi re. Satguru dhara niramal bahati, wame kaaya dhoi re. Kahe Kabir suno bhai sadho, tabhi waisa hoi re. How can my mind(understanding) and yours be alike? I speak out of my own experience, things I have seen with my own eyes and you speak from the written books ( you have not known them). I speak to make it simpler and you make it more complicated and confusing(because you yourself are not clear about it). I tell you to keep awake(aware in your consciousness) and you go on sleeping(again and again in your consciousness). I tell you to remain detached and you get more allured. I keep trying to explain it for eons but no one listens to me. You have become like a prostitute( who gets attached to anyone providing money) and wander like a loafer, you have lost your treasure(spiritual wealth) in behaving this way. Kabir says - listen to me, the pure current of Satguru's grace(Anhad Bani) flows all the time, wash your mind in it, and you will also become pure like Him.
  19. THE BODY IS LIKE A DREAM. WHEN THE BODY ITSELF IS UNREAL, THEN ALL THINGS OF THIS WORLD ARE UNREAL. NAM ALONE IS TRUE HOLD FAST TO IT.
  20. A humble prayer at the Lotus Feet of Wahiguru Jee: Nam daan ab Satguru deejeh Give the gift of Nam, O Satguru Kal sataveh, swasaa cheejeh Kal torments me, while my life is wearing away Dukh pawat, mein nis din bhari Having suffered deeply day and night Gahee aye ab, aut Tumharee I now take refuge in you Tum saman, koee aur na Daata There is no giver as generous as you Mein balak, Tum pita aur mata I am your child, you are my mother you are my Father Moh ko dukhee, Aap kas dekho I am perplexed when I consider Yeh achraj mohe hoth parekho how can you bear to see me, your own child in such pain Mein hoon paapi, adam vikaree I am a sinner, a degenerate Bhoola chukaa, chin chin bharee and time and again I have gone astray Augun apne, kehan lag vernu How can I describe my countless shortcomings Meree budhee samjeh nahee marmu My mind fails to understand the mystery Tumree gati-mati, nek na janoo I can not comprehend your status, your qualities Apni mat anusar bakhanoo I can only describe them from my own standpoint Tum Samrath aur Anteryami You are all powerful and all knowing kya kya kahoo mein, Satgur Soami What more can I say, Lord Satguru Mauj karo, dukh anter haroh Take away the anguish of my heart Daya drishtee, ab moh pe dharo Have a merciful glance now on on me Mangoo Nam, na mangoo maan So that I beg for Nam, not for the honour of the world Jas janoh, tas deho mohe daan Grant me this gift as and when you see fit Mein atee deen, bikharee bukha I am a poor beggar, distressed and downcast Prem bhav nahee, sabh bidhee rukhaa faithless and without love, dry and dust Kaisay dogeh Nam amola How will you ever find me ever worthy of your invaluable Nam Mein apne kau, bhau bidh tola I take a hard look at myself and wonder Hoe nirash, sabar kar betha Weary and despairing, I am now resigned to my lot Par man dheeraj, dhareh na neka but my mind is without peace, still hoping Sahid kabhee, meher ho jaaveh That grace may descend one day Toh kahun, Nam nek miljaave and I may receive the priceless Nam Bina meher, koee jatan na soojhey Without Grace, no plans can materialize Bakshish hoe, tabhee kuch bhoojey Only with Grace, can I comprehend the mystery Kinka Nam kareh mera kaaj Only a particle of your Nam would fulfil the purpose of my life Hey Satgur, tumko meree laaj O Master, You are the protector of my honour Abh toh man kar chuka pookar Spent with praying, my heart cries out Satguru, karoh udhaar My Lord Satguru, deliver me from my bonds. Saints, Gurmukhs, through their teachings, show us the reality of this perishable world, and create that type awareness in us, so that we may ask only the Lord, from the Lord, through the path of surrender, love and devotion at His Lotus feet.
  21. Dear brother Jasvendrasingh, first of all, you have the full right to disagree with me. Now let us pause for a while, and see from the other side, have we ever asked ourselves, what is the purpose of the Bani, left by our Guru Sahibans? Well, though the answer is very clear, it is a practical manual instruction, for God realization. It is not epic text books like Ramayana or Mahabharata, or Geeta, or Vedas or Bible, or Koran...just to name a few. But, let us ask ourselves, sincerely..... how many of us do we follow what is said in the Bani? We may recite it like parrots all the 24 hours... we may know by heart each "tuk of the Bani, each and every single word written in it.... That is nothing great in it. The thing is, forget the whole Bani, which could be asking much maybe, but if we had understood just the begining with the "mool mantra" , our lives had been going now in the direction of Akal Purukh, but alas, sorry, we are very much manmukhs yet. We are very much entangled in those things which are bonds around our necks, and for which we are very much proud also, to the extent that we are ready to die and kill.... What for? None of them shall we carry with us there, neither shall we need them there. The only wealth, which we can take with us as per the Bani, is the wealth of Nam...but for that, nobody cares, and behaves, like they are going to stay here forever. Sadhoos, babas, priests, devis, devtas also can not even understand the pure paviter Bani...had they understood by themselves, they would had gained freedom, and would had been with Akal Purukh by now. You see, only they will understand, whom He wants to understand, because only they will then follow implicitly as Sat Bachan, the Bani. They will love and adore the Bani, they will not care, for what the world, society or community will say by slandering them ....they will find all means to achieve what is said in the Bani. The purity, the Truth, the bliss reffered in the Bani, is not gained just by mere reading, or even understanding, but by putting into action, what is written in it. And in simple words, it says:"Ik Onkar, Satgur Parsad" This is the essence of the whole of the Bani, the essence of the teachings of any true Gurmukh of any time, of any place. As these Gurmukhs do not come to create any new religion nor dharam...for them Satnam is the only Truth, Satnam is the only religion, which is realized by His Gurparsad of Nam. This is Gurmat. May Wahiguru bless us all with His daya meher, so that we may become fit, to understand and follow the Bani.
  22. As per my personal experience even after 40 years of research in ruhaniyat, there is certainly a need of a mediator to understand Gurbani. And that is because, the Bani of our Guru Sahibans is pure, is paviter, and as such, is expressed by higher level of Consciousness. On the contrary, we are moorakhs, mugadhs, we are stone heartened... how can we ever understand it ? Our minds are dirty, so we are manipulators, there is no way.....unless we are fortunate enough, to come in the sangat of a Gurmukh, a Sadh.... that is it. The ambrosial Bani is full of praises of this type of Gurmukhs. There is a faboulous Shabad which illustrates this affirmation: Sun Sajjan preetam mereeya, meh Satgur devoh dikhaal. Here, the sikh , the soul is praying to the Lord, by asking Him to make him meet with a Satguru, a Gurmukh... Let us pay attention to its depth, its beauty.... the soul is not asking Wahiguru to reveal Himself, so to have His darshan; but is rather asking Him, to make him meet with a Gurmukh. We may be surprised, and ask why so? Why not directly? Well such is the path designed by Him.... nobody can go back to Him, without the mediator in the form of a Gurmukh, a Sadh.... a Brahamgyani, a Sant Jan .... That is why also, the Bani says: Awar kaaj tere kitteh na kam, mil Sadh Sangat, bhaj kewal Nam. The Bani says, nothing else is of your avail, leave everything aside, just take refuge, take shelter under a Gurmukh, get from Him the Gurparsad, and do its kamaee, or Nam Bhakti. Christ also says: nobody can go unto the Father except through me. He who has seeth me, has seen the Father, for I and the Father are one. Christ was a Gurmukh, and He also clears our doubts by saying, that nobody can go and meet Wahiguru just like that, but until He(Christ, Gurmukh, Sadh...) Himself opens the inner doors of the chambers of His Court, because Wahiguru has kept the key of His Chamber, in the hands of these Gurmukhs. And so we may ask, what is this key? Well the Bani says, it is the Gurparsad of Nam, which we saw in the above tuk: Mil sadh Sangat... for what? Let us think... is it to have coffee and tea with them? Or to go to the cinema, or do wordly business, etc etc etc.... No none of these things, but to humbly go and spread our jholees, and get the Gurparsad from them... as the Bani says: jis vakhar ko laen toon ayaah, Ram Nam, Santan ghar paayaah... I am quite consciouss, many may get offended and say all this is rubbish, but it is not their fault, as it is that what we have seen and heard since we were born...since some several hundred years back, so what the Bani really means, is something very different to what we perceive or the way we perceive. No matter if one has done PHd or masters in Gurbanism or sikhism....this is not a worldly science... Sikhism is the science of the soul and its creator Wahiguru, so naturally only a true Master, a Gurmukh can only make us understand what all true Gurmukhs have said, and stated in their Bani... Gurmat is the language used by these higher souls .... and we are ignorants, maha moorakhs, blind... The Bani says: main andhuley kee tek, tera Nam adhaar. Means we are all blind, and unless we take the support of Nam, we can not move even an inch towards our goal Wahiguru. No true Gurmukh comes to make any new dharam or religion. It is we stupid humans who have limited thier Bani, within the limits of our minds and by mixing it with politics and rituals, rites, idol worship, etc.... The goal of any Gurmukh, is only to make us merge in Wahiguru, irrespective of gender, caste, creed, dharam, mazab, social status, nothing of that sort which is related to the body, but they emphasize on only one thing: bhaj kewal Nam .
  23. Dear Findingtruth, the symptoms you mention, are the base of true spiritual growth... Just as you say, satisfaction, peace, relaxation....after all this is, what one wants from spiritual practices... So "badhahee ho", continue on with your bandagee, bhakti... Slowly and slowly, one starts feeling detached from the world, a higher consciousness is develpoed, then kaam , krodh , lobh , moh ahankar do not attack you so fiercely...until there comes a time, that you are totally out of their field of action, and that is because not because of one´s merits, but because of His Grace, a type of spiritual shield envolves you, so that you become inmune to sin and mind; and also one always misses Him, and as one can not find Him outside, so naturally, one does bhakti with more zeal and will power, so that one has His darshan within oneself as soon as possible. And of course not only this stage is one´s end, but much much more higher, beyond Parbraham, Sach Khand is the goal of a true sikh, so to say, to merge in our beloved Wahiguru Akal Purukh, through the blessed jugtee of Nam Simran.
  24. Dear brother, surely do repent for your bad deeds, but do not blame beloved Wahiguru at all for your misfortunes. The thing is it is law of nature, what you sow, so you get...and that sowing does not mean necessarily of this life ... Secondly, talking or thinking bad against Wahiguru, takes you only farther from Him. Do not ever think, that anybody can slander Him. It is like someone saying, I am angry and I want to spit on the Sun...we all know what will happen, his own spit will fall on him. Thirdly, Wahiguru is our true ever loving Father, He definetely can never judge us. Dharam Rai does that job, but Not Akal Purukh. Because if Wahiguru were to judge us, take it for certain, there would be no place to take refuge. He is known as Dayalu, as Sad Bakshanhar...so if your sins are many, what to say about you alone, even the countless sins of all the beings are nothing in the eyes of Wahiguru. He is an infinite ocean of Daya Meher. Please do not ever loose hope, and never do ever get away from His door, nor go begging at the doors of His servants(gods, godesses). Iy ever you have to get anything, it shall be only from spreading your jholee at His door. What is this spreading jholee all about? It is a call of your soul with full faith and humility, in the form of Ardass. But Ardaas, not to ask for anything, but to give us strength to live in His Bhaana. And follow the instructions prescribed in the Guru Granth Sahib: Sarab rog ka aukhad Nam. Do some Nam simran, and see how slowly and slowly the filth of karmas and sanskaras, start getting removed from you. May Wahiguru bless you. Sat Sree Akal.
  25. Sat Sree Akal jeeo, Sat Purukh has no friends nor enemies. He is above all these things. Who can befriend Him, or who can be His enemy? Of course , no one. He is aroop, Alakh and Agam, He alone He is. His will, His Hukum, His bhana works throughout all khands, brahmands....universes upon universes. Nobody can object Him, or tell Him how to do anything, Kal or any other entity, just gracefully carry His orders... His Hukum, in one word. The second point of souls, creation and karmas, and Dharam Rai, according to the Sat Bani, which tells us: ਸਚੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਸਚੇ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ Sachee Thaeree Kudharath Sachae Paathisaah सची तेरी कुदरति सचे पातिसाह True is Your almighty creative power, True King. Keethaa Karanaa Sarab Rajaae कीता करणा सरब रजाइ Whatever He has done, or will do, is all by His Own Will. By His Command, some are merged into Him, and some, by His Command, are destroyed. Some, by the Pleasure of His Will, are lifted up out of Maya, while others are made to dwell within it. No one can say who will be rescued. O Nanak, having created the souls, the Lord installed the Righteous Judge of Dharma to read and record their accounts.... In this last tuk, Guru Ji is telling us: that He created souls, that is quite evident... and then installed the figure of Dharam Rai, for a particular purpose... and mentions to record their accounts. What are these accounts? Naturally karmas... only. But there is another account, which is out of the jurisdiction of Dharam Rai, on which he has no rights... And that is, the heart of a devotee, a sikh, a disciple... who has given his mind, body and soul, with unconditional love, in the form of Nam Simran, to Wahiguru Akal Purukh. See how beautifully Guru Ji, clears all our doubts in a simple manner.. and with just a few words... Wah wah Sacahy Badshah, kaun janeh guna tere. Oouch Apaar Beant Soami.
