  1. This might make me unpopular, but has anyone else ever considered this might all be a psyop by Indian government? I.e. what if amritpal has actually been created by Indian government as "controlled opposition" to control the narrative on khalistan. Maybe by showing him now running away, they are trying to invoke fear in Sikhs- don't bother starting any movement because you can't face the wrath of the Indian government- and they show this by having their agent (amritpal) talk big and then get scared and run when police come after him. If you look at all the media in india - they are pushing the same narrative. I think this might all be a big drama created by Indian government to make Sikhs lose faith in activism, and show rest of the world and india that there are major problems in punjab and with Sikhs across the world, so that they can then be 'justified'to do things they want to do to punjab/Sikhs (agendas to do with controlling punjab, water etc).
  2. You are definite right to be concerned about taxi safety. The suggestions I've given I think are the safest bets, as airports and hotel taxis are quite official so one would be hope that it should be safer than randoms. Taxis through big companies are also safer. A hotel like marriot, hyatt etc deals with foreign people all the time and they provide taxi service - this I would imagine is generally one of the safest options.
  3. Whether dehli airport or amritsar Airport, both have got a taxi kiosk INSIDE the airport itself. Once you have collected luggage, the last part of the airport before you exit the airport building, you have the last restaurant or two, currency exchange and also a taxi kiosk. You go to the kiosk and tell them where you need the taxi to - if I remember correctly you get a slip with a number on it and get told to go to the relevant area just outside the airport. Your driver will approach you and should tell you the same number you have on the slip to prove they are your taxi driver. Price will have been arranged inside with the kiosk people already. I'm not sure if the system has changed but the taxi kiosk inside inside airport should definitely be safe I believe. The only issue I can see with the above is that I'm not sure if the airport one will take you all the way to moga (or if they do,not sure if they will give you a difficult rate). In this case what I can suggest is getting the airport taxi to a reputable hotel nearby. E.g. marriot or hyatt etc. Stay the night and get them to arrange you a taxi for your longer journey to moga. Another option if you land in Sri Amritsar Sahib is to get the airport taxi to take you up to Harmandar Sahib. Once at Harmandar Sahib there is a road where all the saraan (sgpc guesthouses for sangat) are , this is the road which leads up to baba atal rai ji gurdwara /kaulsar sahib gurdwara , it is just to one side of Harmandar Sahib about 3 mins away. On this road there should be some taxi ranks - i have used one there which I think has since closed down, but I would hope any of those stalls would be trustworthy as they are based in quite a prominent position so would probably want to avoid bad pr. Finally india has apps such as uber and an india only equivalent called "ola". There are also big taxi companies like "megacabs" which you can book over the phone. Dressing as a nihang singh in india generally leads to being dealt with with respect. As for hotels, you may struggle in moga. Websites like Expedia and booking.com will have hotel listings. Unless someone gives you you recommendation, it is better to stay in a known international chain hotel.on the better end you have marriott, hyatt, Ramada , you also have decent hotels like best western, holiday Inn etc. They are in bigger towns and cities like amritsar Sahib, Jalandhar, chandigarh, ludhiana etc
  4. I am curious to know what would one call their father's mama in Punjabi? Also what would one call their father's Nana?
  5. Kanshi TV (SKY 772) the Ravidassi Channel which is supposedly run by followers of Bhagat Ravidaas Jee, quite contradictorily also shows Christian programming. In the below video you can see shameless distortion of Gurbani shabad "sun sun jeeva teri bani" and also a cheap imitation copy of famous Sikh dharna "vaheguru bol kade na dol" Video is of the episode of "All Nations Church" currently showing live today 1 August 2022 at 20:00 I request sangat to please complain to the channel who must apologise for this disrespect and provide assurance that this will not happen again. 7. Thankfully I don't think this sister has actually committed suicide as the police are saying it is a false rumor. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.latestly.com/india/news/delhi-gang-rape-case-police-refute-news-of-victim-committing-suicide-3310729.html/amp I hope Sikh community of Delhi will provide her and her family with full support in every way.
  8. There is a new Muslim bhangra singer from UK called Raf Saperra. Not only has he made a music video where he is lusting after and flirting with a Sikh girl who has a prominently displayed kada, but the song has been produced by so called Sikh Sukhshinder Shinda and the background of the video is full of so called Sikhs wearing kaday, egging on the Muslim singer to flirt with the Sikh girl and sing about her lustfully. Astonishingly there is an old Baba with a long white dhari and white dastaar in the video as well. I have not seen one comment on the YouTube page that is concerned about this. I have also noticed that as part of his image in general this singer has avoided highlighting he is a Muslim, only reluctantly alluding to being from West Pakistan during an interview when asked. Instead our so called Sikh people are all backing him up and featuring in his videos wearing huge kaday while holding alcohol bottles. There is a blurring of lines here with regards to identity which is normally used by this group to take advantage of our people. Our own people are stupidly helping this cause. There are a few of his bhangra videos which also feature smoking (Muslim Pakistani culture) which will probably confuse Apne thickos into thinking this is now a normal part of our own culture. They are making bhangra videos without making it clear they are Muslims and subtly putting their own culture into it. What has happened to these people's zameer? This is the video.
  9. You can read the section on Anand karaj in the Sikh rehat maryada, under "marriage" http://nsouk.co.uk/rehat-maryada-a-guide-to-the-sikh-way-of-life/
  10. There is a video going around of a nihang Singh at the farmers protest in Delhi talking about how at some nihang Dal Amrit sanchars there are two baate of Amrit - from reading around apparently 'mazbhi Sikh" have to have a separate bata of Amrit from everyone else and also there are separate pangats in langar. Does anyone know what this is about?
  11. Must watch this video- how the government plans to make it look like farmers are firing guns so the army and police can shoot at them
  12. Does anyone know if Bhai dharam Singh nihang of sach Khoj academy has gone to akal takht for pesh as I know they declare him tankhaiya a few years back. Just wondering is he still considered tankhaiya? Has he been excommunicated or considered part of panth? I quite like his veechars Nihang Singhs don't seem to have an issue as he was at a nihang event in 2018 https://youtu.be/fw_zLnhlQ0s
  13. I used to have this issue before and even posted about it in here, but have now realised. When you read rehat maryada really carefully you see that the actual BAJJAR kurehit is to use tobacco. That doesn't mean we can drink sharaab though. The rehat maryada says not to have any NASHA including sharaab. However alcohol outright not being included as a bajjar kurehit is a very sensical thing and shows Maharaj's perfection. The reason for this is that if alcohol was placed as 'bajjar' kurehit life would be pretty much unliveable. Why? Because chemical alcohol i.e. ethanol is present in so much - bread, fruit, medicine etc. When the manufacturers say alcohol they mean that yes it's technically ethanol so it's alcohol in a chemical sense but it's not really the same as sharaab in terms of use in this instance. I mean the buiscuits and cakes we eat and soft drinks like coca cola, when they have 'natural flavouring' in the ingredients, usually this also contains alcohol (ethanol), but it's not being used as sharaab it is being used as a chemical solvent to hold the flavour. This is why such products contain alcohol (ethanol) yet even by the government they are classed as non alcoholic. The intent is not intoxication and neither does it cause intoxication.
  14. Who is the jathedar of Tarna Dal? What are the different branches of Tarna Dal? Which section of to Tarna Dal is associated with Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Jee, I have heard it is hariavela but then I have also heard it is Baba Bakala?
  15. I don't mean the ring mala. I mean like in this picture.
  16. I have noticed quite a few nihang Singhs seem to wear a ring on the finger. Mostly seems to be sarbloh. What is the significance of wearing this?
  17. Wear your kachera over the club shorts. Why can't you wear a kirpan? If you really can't. You can always wear a Dori wali kirpan if you are really stuck Kangha even if you couldn't put in your head, could easily go in a pocket?
  18. You say you think you are lying by keeping hair. Who do you think you should be if you have hair? And why do you think this? Would you really ever be satisfied with you who you are to be worthy of being called a gursikh? The fact is we are all supposed to consider ourselves unworthy. So if you are thinking you don't match up to being a gursikh with the appearance, you are actually being a perfect Sikh because guru sahib wants us to be humble. That person who thinks they are not a gursikh is the most worthy to have the appearance of a Sikh because they are focusing on their demerits and not feeling boastful about the good they do. That person who thinks they are worthy of Sikhi is the one who is destined to fall. Breaking Amrit now will cause you more turmoil as you are not aware of the spiritual disruptance it will cause inside you. *DELETED* Just be a basic Sikh, I assure you it is fine. The guru says keep your hair, following the guru can never lead to unhappiness. However, not following the guru, i.e. leaving Amrit will definitely cause you unhappiness. Guru sahib has already told is this in gurbani to save us the misery of trying it out ourselves. Trust what the guru says. Only what the guru says can lead to happiness and everything else leads to misery. souoo ganeeaai sabh te uoochaa ||
  19. Does anyone have any sources on the history of taking a hukamnama from guru Granth Sahib jee, any writers that have written on this or any bachans by sants?
  20. I would suggest becoming a nihang, this way *DELETED* Also nihang Singh often just wear the *DELETED* Nihang Singhs often don't mind their *DELETED*- but encourage them to keep head hair uncut. I would strongly recommend finding some local nihang Singhs and I am almost sure they will convince you to stay in Sikhi and show you a more liveable and workable Sikhi. It's fine to listen to nitnem if you don't do it yourself. Sikhi is not meant to be stressful, don't hold yourselves to the standards of the amritdharis you initially saw. In the West, you have basically got Amritdhari groups that have been based upon the most extreme sections of Amritdhari community. If you go to Punjab, or outside like hazur sahib etc you will see much more normal Amritdharis that don't do half the stuff Amritdharis in the West say you need to do. It is fine if you just listen to your nitnem, don't eat halal meat, don't have sex outside your marriage,. Don't smoke tobacco and don't cut your hair and don't take intoxicants. With kakkars just do your best as you can and don't get too hung up on it. It is fine to have your own interpretation. Many Sikhs eg 3ho don't stress on wearing all 5ks while bathing etc. Other than the above, three main focus should just be on fixing your inside being more humble and defeating the five evils. It is better to follow a moderate Sikhi than to cut your hair. Just follow the basic for now. Ask yourself - what would guru ji say to me right now? Would he say it is better to just do the bear minimum as an Amritdhari and add in on more later or to leave Amrit altogether? You don't have to be a perfect Saint, it's fine that you enjoy a physical relationship with your wife. Don't beat yourself up over it. You don't have to wear Bana, just wear your normal dastar and 5ks Do ardaas to guru sahib that he may give you the power and mindset to live in the way he wishes you to, not how your mind tells you to. And don't even worry about panthic issues and khalistan etc for now
  21. I'm not trying to be rude but most of you guys on here talking about "women these days" sound like incels. I don't know why some people are so obsessed with what women are doing, go out there be the alpha male and any girl will like you. It's very simple Singhs need to man up. Most Singhs want a pretty and feminine girl so similarly girls like confident manly men, alot of Singhs are not up to scratch its simple as that. There is alot of incel like <banned word filter activated> shaming going on - you can not hope to know what someone is like from a Facebook post or photo, hell even the people you see up close like those in school, you don't know the full story. What makes me laugh is how quickly people think they can sum up the complexities of someone else's life. On top of that you guys aren't even happy when a girl moves on and criticisize when they do finally settle down as covering up or whatever - it's called growing up and developing as a person, quite a normal thing. Maybe if we the kaum wasn't full up of people who have nothing better to do than discuss other people's supposed love lives on the internet and actually understood normal human behaviour of making mistakes, being immature and developing, we actually wouldn't have people looking elsewhere. Finally, there never was this "ideal respectable woman", not in any era. Hanky panky has been going on since the beginning of time, read charitrpakhiyan.
  22. Can sangat please suggest hotels or nivas asthans near sri darbar sahib. They have to be a decent standard and no more than half an hour walk. I have heard about nishkam jatha niwas but when i phoned nobody picked up. Failing nivas, even hotels which are not too far would be great. I have stayed in hyatt before but as it is on gt road you always need to travel by car to reach darbar sahib. Id prefer a hotel i can get a motor rickshaw from or walk from. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  23. When bhatras say rajput this really confuses me, arent bhatras who say they are of rajput backgrounds actually KASHYAP Rajputs which is different from Rajputs who are not related to bhatra community at all? There are Rajput Sikhs and they are not bhatray, more similar to Khatri so I really don't get it when bhatray say they are rajput.
