  1. I feel ashamed/anguished as how people like mr Malhi get appointed as pardhaans. Does anyone know what's latest on this?
  2. WaheGuru Ji Ka Khalsa, WaheGuru Ji Ki Fateh! Dear Sangat, this sounds bit difficult to frame and answer but lemme try I needed bit of information around places to visit in UK with parents. I have my parents visiting us in UK for few months. While they are here, I would like to keep them busy/amused seeing places, attending gurmat smagams and visiting some of the bigger Gurudwaras we have here in UK/Europe. They have just retired and aren't very old, so I was considering places like Gravesend, Isle of wight etc. Would anyone have a list of places where they may visited with parents/in-laws and any upcoming smagams around London? Thanks in advance.
  3. This is what we are taking about fyi The existing paragraph says, "Bahadur Shah had tried to conciliate the rebellious Sikhs by making peace with Guru Gobind Singh and giving him a high mansab. But when, after the death of the Guru, the Sikhs once again raised the banner of revolt in Punjab under the leadership of Banda Bahadur, the Emperor decided to take strong measures and himself led a campaign against the rebels." It will be replaced by a new paragraph which reads: "In early 18th century the Sikhs once again raised the banner of revolt in the Punjab. They did so first under the leadership of Guru Gobind Singh and after the death of the Guru under Banda Bahadur. The Emperor, Bahadur Shah, decided to take strong measures and himself led a campaign against the rebels." CBSE has instructed the schools not to teach the original paragraph in the book. The students are not to be examined in it also, it said. "Instead the new paragraph will be taught and the students will be examined in it," it added. 4. Thanks for sharing, I had heard of Peer Budhu Shah Ji but not detailed. It interests me to know the question that Peer ji asked and fascinates how Guru sahib answers so clearly.
  5. A fire that firefighters responded to Tuesday night at the Guru Nanak Sikh Mission of America in Island Lake is under control, authorities said about midnight. The fire at the house of worship at 217 W. State Rd. was a second-alarm fire, Wauconda Fire District Lt. Vince Clemens said. There are no known injuries, he said. Authorities did not release more details early Wednesday source http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20141111/news/141119552/ https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152395581972791
  6. Veerji, I too wear glasses most of the times and few times contact lenses in a year and I had same doubt in my mind when I started tying turban. But to honest once you get used to it, it all becomes a routine, however I did few experiments with what type of glasses fit with my style of turban tying and I found the ones having thin braces can be easily worn. So now I have stick to ones having flexible and thin braces. After I tie my turban, I put the left brace onto the 2nd larr of pagg and the right one first one. Also I modified the style of tying larrs very close to cheeks or eyebrows and now the specs goes in very sleek. Fateh
  7. My answer to that would be parchaar definitely plus media. We need to have sikh youth models who can do a regular parchaar in both west and punjab. My thought about punjab or west is that both need equal promotion and understanding of Gurmat. It feels so enlightened and joyous to see Gursikhs in west but honestly in punjab the youth now is moving far from Guru. I don't care it's bollywood, some singers or people getting westernized, but what is important to me is how can we promote the sikh models and present their rehyat and sucess stories to one and all via media so that it can reach those who haven't got a chance to see/hear the reasons to be a Gursikh. bhool chool maaf. Fathe!

  12. Thanks Khalsa ji for taking time to respond with what you think as cricket/Hockey being a sports played by pakistani's and bombay walas and next paragraph saying that one in Hounslow was established by Maharaja of Patiala in 1916 :strong: bhool chook maaf, Fateh!
  13. WaheGuru Ji Ka Khalsa, WaheGuru Ji Ke Fateh! Khalsa ji, I was looking out any sports activities we have in west london, but haven't seen a lot. Last year I moved into London and I haven't seen any particular clubs whether cricket, hockey, volleyball etc much in west london. I'm more interested field matches or indoor practice sessions. I'm aware that this isn't the best time in the year to have much outdoors, but with less snow and warm winters, it seems quite doable now. Can you please advice a weekend or weekday evening sports events you attend or aware of. Thanks in advance. :stupidme: Fatheh!
