  1. I don't think he said people should hang around with gangsters. But one thing is for sure, your frame of mind or thinking will be shaped by the kind fo sangat you have. If you hang around couch potatoes who watch star trek all day, then that is what you will become(i.e. couch potato). If you hang around real mards who are hardened in the ways of the street you will not be easily bullied. It's still shocking to see UK Sikhs are being bullied by Paki Punjabis. Such a phenomenon is unheard of in any other part of the world. In all immigrant communities from South Asia in the west, Sikhs usually have the reputation of being strong, tough. But after living in the UK for 3 generations, many UK Sikhs have become weak(sorry but it's true) who easily get bullied by paki punjabis who historically have always been dominated by the Sikhs. EDIT: I changed the original word I wrote with weak since the original word may offend many people.
  2. All these are small steps for Sikh rights that we as a global community will enjoy. Shaabaash to the brother who has won this case.
  3. Our level of martialness has decreased a lot since the independence of India. But compared to everyone else in India, Sikhs can still be considered the most martial with out a doubt. When the shyt hits the fan, Sikhs can still get pretty militant and khatarnaak.
  4. pure propaganda by the traitor Brar. Not surprising that bias media would publish this.
  5. pav is such an <banned word filter activated>. She speaks as if she is some sort of authority on what happened. All she saw was a mere glimpse of Sant Jee and from that she bases her opinion. People like pav and bharadwaj think that everything just started off with Sant Bhindranwalay. They don`t see the discrimination Sikhs faced after 47 such as Punjabi language not getting official recognition, Punjab being unfairly divided and Punjabi speaking land being given to Himachal and Haryana. Chandigarh which was clearly Punjab not belonging to Punjab. The river waters being stolen from Punjab and given to Haryana and Rajasthan. Then how Sikhs from Punjab were not even allowed to enter Delhi through Haryana during the Asian games. Any Sikh that attempted was arrested in Haryana. How the government supported and helped the Nirankaris in 78 instead of doing the right thing and arresting them. What Sant Jee did was to awake the Sikh nation and tell them not to take it anymore and for that he is our hero and centuries to come. People like pav come and go with no one even noticing, but Sant Jee`s memory will always remain cherished amongst the Sikh nation.
  6. What he did, he did decades ago. He has done his time for the crime. No need to hang him for crimes he has already been punished for. He has reformed himself and has done good work from then on. That being said, he should have declined the honour of being with the queen. Rather he should have given someone else that chance so the racist Gora media would not have a chance to raise their finger at the Sikh community.
  7. As always, Good post Veer Jee. While you are right that when one goes deeper since Brahmgiani is Vaheguru then they are one and same. But when Guru jee included their Bani in the Aad Bir, the Gurus did not refer to the Bhagats as Satguru. They were still called Bhagats, and that is the status they hold in the Sikh Panth. The Bhagats hold a very high status within the Panth. Their Banis, Sakhis are done veechar of by Sikhs. Even many Sikhs go on a pilgrimage to places associated with the Bhagats all over India. Since they hold such a high status for the Sikhs, I don't understand why they should be renamed as Guru or Satguru as if we are giving them a promotion. Today in India millions of people follow the Path of the Bhagats. SGPC, Sant Samaj, Jathabandis all need to make a coordinated effort and do Parchar to these distant cousins of ours.
  8. Bhaaji, I actually agree with you on the part that we should forge relations with Kabir Panthis and other Panths which claim to follow the Bhagat Sahibans as they can be considered our cousins. But forging relations does not mean we should ignore our Nyaraapan. Khalsa is to remain Nyaraa. Infact I think we should do Parchar to them and bring them into the KHalsa Panth. Ravidasis of Punjab are a different story. Unlike the Kabir Panthis who actually can claim a link Bhagat Kabir Jee going back hundreds of years, the Ravidasias in Punjab (more particularly Doaba region) are a recent creation. They created this Panth during the 20th century as a reaction to the discrimination that they faced from Jats. So to forge their own independent and proud identity they created the Ravidasia community. We need to destroy our caste barriers and bring our Ravidasia brothers back into the Khalsa fold. Same is true for the Churah community in Majha who have largely become Christian due to the discrimination they faced from Jats.
  9. We cannot blur the meaning of a Sikh. In Guru Granth Sahib Jee, there is a clear distinction between Bhagat and Satguru. the Bhagat Sahibaan are clearly mentioned as Bhagat. It is not up to us to change that and call them Satguru. Satguru is an Akali jyot which has existed since the start. It menifested itself into this world in Kaliyug in the roop of Guru Nanak Dev Jee who gave Naam Dhikhya to the Bhagats (Read Giani Gurdit Singh Jee's book on this matter). This type of thinking is not RSS. In fact, I would say that RSS would want us to blur the distinctions between Sikhs and non Sikhs so eventually the Sikh panth can fade away. Many Panths have been created in India. Pandit Ganesha Singh Jee has listen many such Panths in his book Bharat Mat Darpan. Just because someone has similar beliefs we cannot say they are Sikhs. Kabir Panthis can be considered our cousins but they are not Sikhs. Even they don't consider themselves as Sikhs. Since the early census began to be taken by the British even then they never listed themselves as Sikhs, so you cannot blame Indira for this one.
  10. "Satguru"?? It's one thing If non Sikhs say Satguru to Bhagat Kabir jee or Bhagat Ravidas Jee, but for a Sikh to call them Satguru is blasphemy.
  11. Such pages are made mostly by Pakistani Muslims. I don't know what they get out of making such pages, such people only help to create animosity and distrust between Muslims and Sikhs. They try to convert not based on facts, but by spreading lies. We need a group of sites dedicated to countering such lies. This site is a good source to counter such liars: http://www.whyichosesikhism.com/
  12. Ask youself, would Baba Deep Singh Jee go to the ball, would Sant Bhindranwalay go to the ball? The answer is do what they would do. BTW, I can't imagine them going to the ball. As OSingh said, when taking Amrit, do as much Paath and Simran as you can. It will be rewarding when taking amrit. Bhei Prapat Manukh Dehuria, Gobind Milan ki eh teri baria. A Sikh should live everyday like it is his last day. Every breath is important. Don't waste it away on Manmat.
  13. I sure hope this isn't a case of a Sikh girl being raped by her pakistani boyfriend, we still don't know all the facts about this case. Whatever the case, but to tag along or invite Goray nationalists to this issue is sheer stupidity. You have got to be light weight in the head to not realise that they are just using apnay to furthur their own agenda. I remember reading the BNP site around the year 2000-2001 where they said they support Khalistan because they want all Sikhs to eventually leave Britiain and move to Khalistan. They have probably removed those incriminating parts from their site now. On a unrelated note, we need to bring our girls to Sikhi again. This can only start when they are kids. The ones that are teens or young adults are a lost cause. We need to stop turning girls into feminists because that is exactly what we have been doing so far. Sikh girls have a reputation of being promiscuous and independent minded. Until the slutty behaviour of apneean changes we will continue to see cases Sikh girls being raped or used by their Pakistani boyfriends.
  14. Great books to study. The Chanak Rajneeti that is studied in Sampradayak circles I think it is the translation by Kavi Sainapat that is studied rather than the Sanskrit one written 2 thousand years ago. Some of these books are available on Gurmat Veechar site under Sant Harkhowal Jee's section.
  15. The best way to learn Gurbani meanings is to simply study it. As someone who has a desire to learn start off with Japji Sahib. Make it a task to understand one pauri a week. Learn the meaning word for word and one tukh at a time. It is time well spent. After Japji Sahib move on to other Nitnemi Banis like Rehras Sahib and then Kirtan Sohila which has a number of small Shabads. Your Gurbani vocabulary will increase tremendously and it will be easier for you to understand bani being sung at the Gurdwara.
  16. From what I have read of Tarek Fatah, he seems to be an extremist in his secular views. He doesn't support multiculturalism but a society where religion is not tolerated. I think Mr Fateh should move to France as his views would be well recieved there. Tarek Fatah is in the wrong country. He is trying to provoke the whites in Canada to stop supporting multi culturalism through his highly bias and one sided articles. Sikhs in Canada need to give Mr Fatah a reply to his inflammatory articles. Just look at the comments on that article. This article has done exactly what Mr Tarek Fatah wanted i.e. Provoke the Canadian whites. And how a man who does not even practice the faith(Sikhism) yet has the audacity to tell Sikhs that they need to "reform" their faith or change their doctrines is beyond belief. He can focus on his own faith Islam instead of giving his useless suggestions to us.
  17. I think this was from when Advani came to Punjab. Many Sikhs from Sardar Simranjit Singh Mann's party came out to oppose him since Advani had written in his book that he fully supported the attack on Darbar Sahib in 1984.
  18. "Terrorist"?? dude I think you are on the wrong site. For Sikhs, Khalistanis are termed as freedom fighters not terrorists. And 90% of the arrests since the last 10 years are usually faked by the police anyway in order to maintain the high level of money being spent on the over recruited Punjab police. These arrests are as fake as their fake encounters during the 80s and 90s.
  19. Sad but true. In the west majority of apnay don`t read Punjabi language literature. So translations like this are very badly needed. I remember some time ago someone was posting English translation of Prof Sahib Singh`s Japji Sahib steek. That is the kind of seva that is really beneficial for Sikhs in the west and will help non Sikhs to also understand Sikhism on a whole new level.
  20. It is the Kala Afghanis and their missionary chelas who have a mountain to climb. The basics of Gurmat is Truth is high but truthful living is higher. What to say of the unholy alliance of the Kala afghanis/missionaries. Far from truthful living they are spreading lies, forging pictures to furthur their agenda. Worst kind of Sikh is one who lies. Instead of joining hands to do Sikhi parchar and saving Sikhs from becoming Patits, they are pulling down Sikh parcharaks. Real shameless people.
  21. Dal Singh Jee, no words can describe this seva you are doing. This is the kind of seva that is very badly needed in the Panth today.
  22. That dude is the current "guru" of the Narakdhari cult. So yes, he is a Pakhandi.
  23. What the... this is pure conspiracy against Dandrianwala.
