We havnt has this issue for the last 300 odd years, why is it creeping up now. Lower the floor for those who cannot sit on floor, but in no way should chairs be permanently installed, soho road should know better.

It's quite sad really that we are debating over this issue.

Try asking somebody with a disability like myself what its like sitting on the floor.

With waheguruji's kirpa I am able to sit for a bit, but why should I have to leave the gurdwara just because I cant sit on the floor for more than 5mins?

I dont think people with disabilities take advantage of the chairs, the gurdwara I go to there is one or two at the back, so its not a distraction either. I dont like chairs at the front either as it doesnt look nice, but if somebody is unable to sit for long and wants to listen to path then they should not be forced to leave. That is totally unfair and discrimination.

Its hurts me to hear some of the posts on here. Obviously these people dont know as they dont have disabilities. If somebody looks normal from outside it doesnt mean they are healthy and can do acrobatics, or are flexible in any way.

I try to sit against the wall on the side when I cant sit with crossed legs. I dont like doing this, and I dont like sitting on chairs, I try to sit as long as I can but that does me more damage.

So why should I sit at home on my own depressed, nowhere to go and cry, whilst those of you who dont agree with chairs or benches, have the privilege of enjoying your lives, being able to go where u want when u want, and then belittle the disabled, and think we are nothing and shove us wherever u want and do watever u want.

Why?? coz you dont have a disability?

There are young generationm aswell as elder generation with disabilites and health conditions, which a lot of people do not realise, for whom going to the gurdwara would be the only place they would go and their hearts fill with joy of being able to go to wahegurujis house without being shoved around.

How can the disabled and elderly be in sangat, when they are not given the chance.

Everybody is going to go old one day, and when one is unable to function properly WHY SHOULD THEY BE STOPPED FROM GOING DUE TO LACK OF FACILITIES.

Mandela feels for your situation and yes there should be facilities for your kind but just like tables and chairs was implemented for people like you but if you got to your local Gudwara you will see majority of able bodied people sitting on them. Once they get abused it will continue for years on end.

Also for many years sangat has been going to the Gudwaras all over the world why all of a sudden have we seen this beadbi happing in our Gudwaras. Mandela feels this a direct attack on Sikhi values.

I think we have to use a little bit of that grey matter in our heads here. In terms of the law if we did not provide chairs for disabled of people with physical medical conditions then they could file a case against the Gurdwara. I am not sure whether the Disabilities Act covers this??

I am not for the idea of chairs in the divan or tables in the langar halls myself but if you want to do something positive then make sure that those facilities are only provided to those who genuinely need them.

By the way you might like to check out the Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Peterborough too.!! I recently attended a wedding there. If you go there take time to check out the Sach Khand. On the left hand bed as you go in you will find Maharaj Saroop alongside SGGS english translation and pothis. Another thing I noticed whilst visiting was that the Head Granthi is Blind (so how can he be HG when he can't read) and when he does Kirtan he forgets and mixes up shabads. He doesn't do any worth while parchar and the committee reject to recognise Akaal Takht hukumnamas about mixed marriages amongst others. There is a mixed wedding coming up on Sat 24 Sep. I

n the Langar hall they have got chairs and tables and pangats. Most of the able bodied youth sit on the tables and chairs. there are copies of Des Pardes lying around and people often sit there reading them whilst the Divan is in progress.

Mandela agrees with sangat who may have problems but must we forget that was the main argument for tables and chairs in the langar hall. Mandela feels people cannot see the slow dilute of Sikhi values in the Gudwaras, we must go back to Guru Gobind Singh Ji's times and see if he allowed chairs in his court?

Mandela has received information that on Sunday 28th August 2011 a major beadbi took place during a wedding in the main Darbar Sahib upstairs. The sangat during the wedding managed to take chairs into the Darbar Sahib and sat on them during the wedding. More than 10 chairs where present after the wedding. Mandela was informed by a local sangat member, Mandela made his way to the Gudwara and saw with his own eyes. I have no connection to the theives who are bringing Sikh TV down or Bhai Gagandip Singh Ji's family/friends The thieves Manpreet n Co who moved in after Gagandip's Death as opportunists have been seen removing all the equipment from the TV Station in West Bromwich.Gagandip's family gave this Manpreet a 50% Share in the Channel after Gagandip was murdered - all of a sudden Manpreet & his thugs,turned on Gagandip's Family & Bhai Gursevak Singh Ji who was with Sikh TV from the Start ,Manpreet and Co then sacked the majority of the Staff atfer doing stupid programmes on Kabbaddi - We ALL know that Kabbaddi is linked to thugs in our community thats why they keep showing it again and again, Since Gursevak Singh Ji was thrown out by the thieves the channel has been going downhill all his work and Gagandip's work has been put to the drain - They have destroyed Gagandip's legacy & continue to do so. As of now certain groups run the 'religious programming' ,had Gagandip been alive he would have never allowed these people near the station not only due to their views but also due to the fact they HATED Gagandip with a passion they have now teamed up with these thugs to be the 'religious side' while the thugs go around filming Kabbaddi/Football matches and so on.This is the reason you see so much Kabbaddi ,dodgy Baba's and only certain Jathebandia being promoted, when Gursevak Singh Ji was running the Channel it was under the Maryada of Akal Takht Sahib ji and no jathebandi or group or people were given preference ,now they sacked Bhai Sahib its clear for all to see. They allow a muslim jaikaare to be aired across every sikh home in the country even the words spoken to become a muslim, they have now allowed a muslim lady to stain our eyes in every sikh home in the country, they allow a woman who nationally and internationally done our bezti (sonia deol) to present a show or two, they have a bigged up and bashed our faces with this giddar upinder who speaks bani tukhs left right and centre yet has no courage or sharam to wear Guru Gobind Singhs uniform (Sardari) wears a raodhswami ring on his finger, told us to give shaheedi for a sweet centre, calls Babar Khalsa rapists says that Sant Ji was the cause of 84 and the list is endless all this for a bit of live action of a looter getting arrested.

The driver of the range rover that day(very close links to badal) owns that channe,l do your research and ill think your stop your dasvandhs going to this very shoddy channel. This channel was born out of sikh channel and then sikh tv, both being skanked along the way, when you pour your indian home made tea through a sieve you will get the crap left inside thats what Sangat Tv is, Sikh channel and sikh tv being the sweet tea in the kettle playing Gurbani kirtan and katha all day.

You may assume me being anti sangat tv but thier actions will prove otherwise. Im not a supporter of any channel but sikh channels, anything that promotes Sikhi, yeh sure sikh tv and Sikh channel have made blunders but not to the disaster scale that sangat tv has EPIC DISASTER.

I have come to the conclusion that we have alot of soldier war types and saintly thinkers in our community but we cant combine the two properly, the much talked about saint soldier Khalsa's. One group will react and attack at the drop of a hat not giving the offender a chance to explain. The other group will watch and stand there as the community is attacked wishing good will on everyone even the offender and looking like a joke to criminals.

We need to strike a balance were we use our heads more to assess the situation and react after reflecting.
