  1. Brother, I started keeping my hair in october 2011, just before I turned 21, so not really that long ago, I always head gelled hair and started really reading into Sikhi when I was about 15, I decided to take the step and spoke to my friend who is a sardar, he advised me to start tying a patka when I went to Uni and wherever I went, and he taught me how to tie a dastaar and here I am... My advice to you is when the time is right you will know because it will feel like the right thing to do and will be so easy, I never had any doubts about what I was doing and didn't care what anybody else thought... Only you will know when the time is right, good luck! It beautiful to see others taking the similar steps!
  2. Hi guys, just wanted to say thanks for all the help, I got the mark for the mini dissertation back today and it was marked at 72% which is classed as a 1st! The sources you provided gave me a lot of help so thanks again...
  3. Also how many times do you train a week? for how long? whats your split? and what exercises and rep ranges do you use for each body part? Oh and I have never really used smith machines, maybe the odd week just to mix things up!
  4. Hi StartingStrengthSikh, I'm a dedicated strength trainer, I have been training for 2 and a half years seriously I'm 21 years old... Currently my Bench press is at 90kg x 5 Reps and 105kg is my single rep max, squat is 120kg x 5 and 140kg is my single rep max, deadlift is at 160kg x 5 and 180kg is my single rep, overhead press is currently at 70kg for 5 rep sets! I only weigh in at 10stones 8lbs Luckily I have been blessed with good strong genetics, my father is very strong as is my younger brother! However before I started training I was super skinny and super weak! My advice to you is to eat as much as food as possible and get your form in total check, technique is everything, fortunately I have been lucky to train with some very good powerlifters and bodybuilders due to my dad knowing lots of these people, surround yourself with the right people and your gains will rocket! I currently supplement with Gaspari Myofusion Protein, Maximuscle Cyclone and USN Anabolic Creatine.. Also my bench press was stuck at 80kg for a long time, I've bumped it to the current weight I mentioned in the last month or so with the use of Super Sets and Negative reps, i.e. load the bar to a totally impossible weight for you, I loaded the bar to 120kg and did a 3/4 second descent, have a spotter pick the weight off you and repeat, 2 sets of 5 reps of these at the end of your workout for a few weeks and you should see some improvement! let me know if you would like anymore advice! take care and good luck, train hard! :biggrin2:
  5. I came across this when looking into this, I find it quite shocking that our women cannot do Kirtan or Seva at Darbar Sahib especially when these women have been blessed by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji http://americanturban.com/2012/03/16/picture-of-the-day-ever-blessed-by-god-be-the-women-of-amritsar/
  6. Thanks everybody for the input! really appreciate it
  7. WSL first thing don't patronise me and secondly I've actually worded the question like this so it gives me something to answer, and I'm going to strongly argue that the massacre wasn't simply riots, obviously we all know that it was a organised massacre. There's actually a whole section planned onto why the genocide was labelled as riots for covering up purposes. And Gurd Singh, thank you for your input, much appreciated and if possible I will send a draft...
  8. Hi guys, I'm doing a university mini project for my final year studying Law and have been asked to do a project in my International Law module, I decided to write about something that is of massive importance to me thus the question I am writing an answer for is (I had to think of the question myself), 'Were the Anti-Sikh Riots of 1984 in India a breach of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide' I'm having issues however regarding sources for it with direct reference to it, such as statistics and reaction to the riots from other nations? I would be very grateful is somebody could send me some links to any type of sources which highlight statistics, articles, videos, pretty much anything that will assist me. Also if anybody knows of any books which may help me. Thank You WJKK WJKF
