    Warning

This is not Sikhi. If some people can look far into the future and tell us when the world will end, then surely they can tell us what the weather will be, this time next month. Should we expect snow? Tell us, then I will go buy a new shovel.
  2. There was actually a Muslim congressman (maybe senator) who was the first elected govt. official in America, to not take the oath of office using a bible. He used a Koran. What if a Sikh is elected? What would be the proper way of taking an oath using GGS? Would it be carried to Capital Hill by 5 Singhs?
  3. I think many haven't seen what some of us have seen. Case in point @ 2:40 I went to school with guys just like that. They come from rich families in Punjab, who see it as a status symbol to send their kids abroad. The kids take it as an opportunity to do whatever they want while they are away from mummy daddy. These guys are horn dogs. They go crazy when they see a girl wearing shorts or jeans. They are produced by the same culture that thinks girls enjoy being eve teased or fondled on buses. Some of them are quite slick. They make a sanaan white girl fall in love with them, and then leave her after they get their green card. I knew one guy who did just that to a white girl. She started wearing Punjabi suits and saying Sat Sri Akal to everyone. Then as soon as he got his green card, he left her. I felt so sorry for her. With all that said, yes there are apne who go abroad to make a better life for themselves and their families. However, we shouldn't ignore the element that is just looking for an adventure.
  4. Great initiative. Singh and Singhni puppets would be a great idea. Maybe you could borrow Manmohan Singh for one of your skits (JK). This is a great way of teaching toddlers.
  5. Lmao...maybe bhaji thinks he will bring a polish girl back to the pindh. A bit surprised about that though. Here, the girls don't give those guys the time of day. You will occasionally find the dumb goree who falls for that type, but they are only using her to get a green card.
  6. I'm glad you said it. I would have been crucified if I brought it up. A chance to sleep with goree mehms and live out their wildest fantasies is part of the appeal, before they go back to Punjab and marry a sweet innocent girl. I think they're watching too much MTV back in Punjab. As if all they have to do is hop off the plane and say "Hey baby" to the first white girl that walks by, and she will fall into their halthee smelling arms.
  7. If that girl had been a Sikh, I wonder if he would have said anything at all. There is a video of his statement on YouTube. At the end he says "Teekh hai?" As if he is doing someone a favor. He's a sell-out puppet.
  8. Maybe they think they will find a better wife if they are citizens of a foreign country. NRI's come back to Punjab and marry the the most qualified girls, as the women see it as a means of escaping Punjab. So if a Punjabi guy with no degree becomes an Italian citizen, then he has a better chance of going back to Punjab and marrying a doctor.
  9. It used to be an honorable thing for the eldest son in a Punjabi Hindu family to become a Sikh. For all 7 boys of that family to become Singhs is beyond praise.
  10. Sikhs For Justice is a human rights group based in New York. Why do they have to be the ones to take a stand? Sikhs in India, especially in Delhi, should be spearheading this effort. Why do we need enemies, when Sikhs are turning their backs on their own?
  11. Sikh rights group decries “silence” over 1984 victims Sarabjit Pandher Courtesy: THE HINDU Rights group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), while sending its “deepest condolences” to the family of the Delhi gang rape victim, has questioned the silence of the administration, politicians and the justice system over the rape of women of the Sikh community in broad daylight during the genocide that followed the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984. “BUSES USED” In a release, the SFJ said it shared the pain of the family who lost her for no fault of her own. During the November 1984 riots, Delhi public buses were used to transport squads that raped Sikh women in November 1984, it alleged. Responding to Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s statement that as a woman and mother, she could understand the protesters’ emotions, the SFJ wondered if she had conveniently forgotten the “vicious cycle of rape and murder let loose against Sikh women in 1984 at the behest of her husband.” Why did she or Prime Minister Manmohan Singh never visit the hundreds of Sikh victims languishing in “Widow Colony” just a few miles from the Parliament of the greatest democratic country, it asked. For the last 28 years, successive Indian governments had given open immunity to those who perpetrated violent crimes against Sikh women, it said. Khap leaders’ remarks Meanwhile, the Haryana unit of the CPI(M) has taken strong exception to certain utterances by the “so-called Khap leaders.” They reportedly described most of the rape complaints as fake and consensual. The party objected to their reported opinion that most of the rape complaints were made for extorting money from the accused persons. State unit secretary Inderjit Singh, in a statement, expressed grave concern at such “outrageous” remarks, particularly at a time when the entire country was displaying its anger against incidents of rapes and sexual assault on women. The party also took a serious view of the fact that while cases were being perpetrated unabated, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who holds the Home portfolio, was “maintaining an astonishing silence.”
  12. Bhaji, I think you are over-embellishing when it comes to Canada's situation. Sikhs pretty much run Canada. They are well established and well connected in government. New Sikh immigrants have a good safety net in Canada, because they already have family members there that can support them. Canadian politicians are also mindful of Sikh issues, and consequently immigrant issues, because they make up a large percentage of the voting block. I've been to Canada numerous times, and they aren't shooting heroine in the streets like you said. I think different types of Sikh immigrants go to different countries. It is much harder to immigrate to America, than it is to Canada or U.K. American immigration policy favors educated immigrants. They want people with degrees that will help America compete globally. Generally there is great fervor among people in Punjab, to go abroad. Since it is easier for uneducated people to emigrate to U.K. and Canada, more of them end up there. No degree, no money, and no family support will cause some of them end up destitute. Australia's Sikh community of Woolgoolga are thriving. They've made a fortune from their banana plantations, that have been operating for generations now. The wealthiest Australian Sikhs now live in Woolgoolga. Sikhs have had similar success with plantations in California and British Columbia. It's the type of immigrants that the country attracts that is the main issue. EDIT: Don't forget about the Italian Sikhs! Those hard working folks have been credited by the Italians themselves, for saving Italy's cheese industry.
  13. What are implications for Sikhs if he wins? If BJP controls the centre, then BJP in Punjab will be less reliant on Akali Dal. BJP / Shiv Sena / RSS may become more brazen in their anti-Sikh activities.
  14. The thing about sickos is that they get inspired by tragic news. The same thing is happening in America. You would think that one tragic shooting would cause gun violence to go down. Instead, it has gone up. Expect more rapes in India.
  15. Props to whoever put their lives on the line for the panth.
  16. One thing I don't understand is why people dig up threads that have died months or years ago. What's the chance that your answer is still relevant to the OP 2 years later? Just dig up a dead horse to beat it some more.
  17. Actually, I didn't hear him correctly the first time. He said, "Hey guys, let's not get into any more caste arguments."
  18. I thought he said "Oh pindh ja kuthiya. Oh bhamana" - Hey go back to the pindh you dog. Hey brahman.
  19. I'm waiting for this Maple Syrup Singh to start touring abroad and get busted for drug possession. We all know he's using, based on the nature of his lyrics.
  20. ^^^ Go back and read the posts. The people you are accusing weren't the ones who started this nonsense. They were agreeing with you. Your own insecurities blinded you to that.
  21. Rajputs were also huge sell-outs. They gave their daughters to the Mughals to save their kingdoms, and they sided with the Mughals, against Guru ji. There is a song by Kuldip Manak, called "Dhulla Bhatti", where he describes how the Rajputs had turned their backs on the people. Pathans were kicking Rajput butts too. They were supposed to be the warrior caste, but they couldn't even protect their own daughters. No one has ruled over the Pathans since Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Idk where you got that saakhi from. There is a reason why Guru ji gave us the name Singh (a Rajput surname). It's because Rajputs couldn't live up the Lion surname that they so proudly flaunted. Guru ji had to make a new warrior group (out of farmers, merchants, and craftsmen) to do what the so-called "warrior caste" couldn't do. He proudly proclaimed "I will make sparrows fight with hawks. Only then will I be known as Guru Gobind Singh." I will add one more thing before I retire for the year (my fingers hurt). Some are saying that Jatts have caused people from other castes to start drinking and doing drugs. The person who is sitting in the store and selling the alcohol, he isn't a Jatt. Who is more to blame for the sharaabi culture? The person drinking the alcohol, or the people setting up shops in every pindh and selling it? Happy New Year
  22. EXACTLY!!! Thank you! I will give my own gurdwara as an example. Majority of the sangat are bania and afghani Sikhs. The Afghani Sikhs tried to separate and make their own gurdwara, but the town shot it down because of zoning violations. LOL. The Kambojs also tried to make their own gurdwara, but they couldn't raise enough money. They were gonna name it after Shaheed Udham Singh. I had a joke with my Kamboj friends that we would have to stop being friends since our families would be going to different gurdwaras. Dasmesh Pita told us to drop our caste surnames and use Singh and Kaur. If you are using a caste surname, then you have no right to criticize any other caste. Fix yourself first.
  23. Now you don't want to talk about the past? You had no problem bringing it up before. I have lost count of how many times I have said that I agree that Jattism has gotten out of control. However, that is no excuse malign the whole community and put the blame squarely on us. Everyone is equally culpable, as all groups practice casteism. It's a sad fact. Going back to the topic of this thread, I agree with Bobby Friction's ban on caste-based songs. It has gotten out of hand and it is not acceptable anymore.
  24. Are you serious??? It was a Jatt who was sitting on the throne of Khalsa Raj. Us dumb gullible Jatts were able to accomplish what you guys couldn't. Dogras weren't Jatts, and they sold us out to the British. Selling-out seems to be a repeating theme. Master Tara Singh wasn't a Jatt. The most foolish and gullible leader in Sikh history, who chose to join Punjab with India after Nehru charmed him. Non-Jatts are the biggest Congress Party cheleh. They kiss the behinds of the same party that killed their brothers and raped their sisters. Sarna brothers and Dikshit are buddies. They have convinced Congress party to intervene in Sikh affairs and alter the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Act. You see, selling-out is a repeating theme.
