  1. As sikhs, we should not be worrying about karma or past lives..etc.. Gurbani is for Here and Now- this very jeevan. This life that your living right now. We should be concerned for doing better than good deeds so that one can rise above the confines of karma that are only in proportion to our ''aana jaanaa' (our coming and goings). Sikhs do not worry about karma or why they are given a bad deal in this life, they accept it as hukam. Only the hindu way of life advises them to do good so that they get a better deal in their next life. For us Sikhs, we are to live by the gurbani so that there is no next life, we are to rise above these very confines. Hope that makes a little sense.
  2. We left from the ''True'' origin. Sachkhand is not a place in the sense that only in this world do we have places and choices to travel there. When one is within the true realms of the truth, then one knows and feels nothing else except the love for that origin. When you are there, leaving or not being there is not even an option in the sense that it does not even occur to be elsewhere as you will know that this place is where you really belong. LOVE and COMFORT of being there is the only Truth that matters. It is where everything that could be lost in you has finally found it's home. Why do we leave there in the 1st place, when all our soul and atma want is to be back there ? Well, we only actually become a physical entity and don't leave in effect. Taking birth and being in this world is the beginning of the ''Duality'' that continues to conquer and overide our very physical existence here. If we can detach and get more inwards into our deep selves, only then can we really find our true selves and the Lord within us. Remember God is formless. He is not a he or a she, neither is he big or small. His presence can only be seen and felt once you are back there in sachkhand. He doesn't have the characteristics like humans, he doesn't have blood pumping him, however he is a hige source of the infinite energy that maintains the whole universe.
  3. Waheguru is within and all around you. Is he going to carry on praising his love for himself by saying or repeating that he loves ALL of his own creation and beings, seeing as he is among and within ALL of the creation ??? It's a pretty dumb question if you ask me !! I mean, why do you want proof that he loves you ? Is not the fact that he has programmed the tiny cells and muscles in your body to keep you breathing involuntary whilst you are too busy thinking of dumb questions!!!
  4. When a person, be they mona, ganjha, with dreadlocks or whatever actually does deep meditation and simran with nothing but pure love for the lord. Then this very person begins to conquer his 5 thieves and slowly his very own ''ego'' starts to shed one by one, bit by bit. Slowly, this person begins to live a more gurmat way of life, which comes automatically and with wahegurus grace. If this mona or lowlife starts to contemplate the teachings in the Granth Sahib ji, he then starts to veer in the direction of an even more gurmat lifestyle with more Sikhi roop expressed in his way of conduct. Now, if you amritdharis are telling me that this is impossible, then I would love to hear your responses backed up with genuine references!!! I mean references to our Guru and not what so and so baba said or what blah blah blah said...
  5. You are implying that to ''accept your Guru to be Guru Granth Sahib ji, you must first take amrit!!' I'm sorry but I have to disagree here. There are far to many sikhs on here with these biased views. The amritdharis feel that they have an advantage, in this sense they are NO better than the hindu brahmin caste. You guys should stop and just listen to what you are saying here. These attitudes are just like the brahmins. There is NOTHING GURMATT about these attitudes and expressions. Some of you amrithdharis sound exactly like the sadhus that questioned Guru Nanak Ji in 'Sidh Ghisht'. With regards to ''NAAM'' - most of you think that this is the special gurmantar only given by by your babas or deras. You think it is like a password to gain spirituality and gyaan!!! Let me tell a little about ''Naam'' - Naam is something deep within all of us, even kauda raksh had it! To be able to connect with this naam is to be the closest you can be to God and creation. You do NOT, I repeat do NOT have to be amritdhari to ''connect' with this naam that is within. There are many non-amritdharies that are connected with this naam much more than some of their fellow amritdharis. These monai or trimmed bearded folks are in consonance with naam and contemplate the lord in all their work and actions. If a an amritdhari claims that ony he has the 'key to unlock' and access the naam connection, then I am afraid, that very amritdhari is much further away from the very naam himself and living in cuckoo land!! His actions and attitude are completely not in any state of naam. Please don't insult and deface the very word ''naam'' with this brahminised garbage talk of ''I am, I am,...amritdhari only, amrithdhari only,...me,me,me,me......''
  6. OK, this means we must all have different concepts of naam. In your best and shortest description, how would you define naam ?
  7. Very good post. I think it is because of lots of low quality amritdharies as RKK mentions that put the dirt (mehl) in the cup,- which ends up discolouring all. On the other hand, there are many non amritdharies and monai that are much more spiritual and connected with the naam from within. I disagree that you have to be amritdhari to experience the anand of naam as stated by RKK, as there are many monai that think and function in a more gurmat and nirgun manner than some fellow amritdharis. How easy is it to find a REAL gursikh from a crowd of sikhs ???
  8. My reference is to the official rehat maryada from SGPC. Why doesn't everyone use this as the umbrella and the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji for any backing up. As to what the panj pyarey tell you at the time of initiation should be known in advance and within guidelines.
  9. Dear Curious2know- I don't think anyone is avoiding or dodging or even trying to defend their faith by hiding for that matter. You have been given the most famous shabad by Guru Nanak Ji about only the ''fools wrangle over eating flesh and meat'' Bottom line is that, -Sikhism does NOT dictate whether you eat veggie or not. You seem to think that we all have to be veggie-This is a wrong and misleading conclusion. Sikhism tells YOU to Decide what seems right or wrong and NOT to argue about it. Let me make it a little more clear,- A baptised full sikh or amritdhari sikh can be excommunicated for many forms of misconduct such as consumption of alcohol, taking tobacco..etc... However, you CANNOT be excommunicated for eating meat!!!!!!!!!!!! So,bottom line is YOU decide what you feel. - If you feel it crueland wrong, then be veggier. - If you feel no wrong and that's what your body needs, then feel free to consume whatever your taste buds demand
  10. You don't need yoga and special breathing etc... to awaken any chakras or to raise you're kundalini. Naam simran and mediation with love for the Guru can open any doors or gates to help one progress further in the journey 'within'.
  11. What are you on about ?? I never judge and I never said I was better and never will. I gave the appropriate response for the appropriate question- it doesn't matter how I conduct myself as I am lower than low. I''m Mona for for God's sake, so why would I think i'm better ?????
  12. If you feel obliged to keep a secure covering on your head, then do it. If not, don't bother- No one is going to mind!!! !
  13. Well you've thought about it already and pretty much decided that you shall cut hair. Be it your beard or khes or both! I don't know why you are worrying about making a mockery of your religion because you have already done that by getting this far and deciding you need to be modern. There is nothing modern and I don't know why you feel left out. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and giving yourself excuses. If you don't have the Prem for your dharm then you simply aint gonna find it when your clean shaved and look like a hindu or paki ! Since you want a choice of what to go for, then I would say take the beard down and trim it to a 5 o'clock shadow with tiny stuble. Then you will notice all the girls going crazy just to stroke your 5 o'clock shadow !! Maybe then you will realise if you want material world and Maya prem or prem for the Guru.. Go ahead, get some blades and scissors
  14. Best advice is to sttick to roulette and use method of cumulative betting. If your rich and have the bankroll you will always win !! Seriously it's a problem not to be laughed at. We can't give you any real advice on how he can deal with it here, but there are plenty of helplines and websites to help run by professionals. Gambling is playing with your money. If it's hard earned then that makes the playing worse. If it's his parents money that he's using then that itself is morally wrong. He needs to realise he WILL lose and come out worse. No gambler ever comes out better, even if they think they can beat the system. The bani tells us that money earned lawfully and rightly should be shared among us. To be playing with it, so as to make a fast buck is not a correct and moral way of earning. He needs to get out of this problem until it's too late. Most gamblers only realise they had a problem when it's too late and not much can be done at that stage.
  15. What would you want to do with his pics and details ? This has nothing to do with sikhs or NRI's.This is all about men, trying to be better men to impress the woman. These kind of men exist in every part of the world and they will continue to exist no matter what you do. You have to be on gaurd just like in any relationship. There are also many women that can be just as deceiving trying to find a vulnerable man. This has NOTHING to do with sikhs,NRI's or Men for that matter. It is all part of relationships and human behaviour.
  16. During amrit sanchar, do panj pyare give different gurmantars to recite ?

    turban help

What turban style are we talking about ? :stupidme:
  18. That is the most inspiring way to tell us the importance and significance of naam japping. I hope we can ALL learn from this. That is the most inspiring way to put the importance and sigificance of naam japping. I hope we can ALL learn from this.
  19. The tukh quoted simply states that parrot repetition alone of a gurmantar is not what it is all about. There is no point naam japping if your mind is not in it. If it is simplt uttering without any vibration of the shabad within, then you are wasting your time!!!
  20. Firstly, your friend should show and feel NO FEAR. It is the self created Fear that lets you slide down. He should have the utmost faith in Waheguru and the Gurbani. Whatever it is whether a ghost, ghoulie or just some rodent- it will surely disappear. The other thing is to ignore any knowck or banging as this is what it wants as it creates even more fear. The more fear he has, the less chance the true lord can help and overpower this crap. If you have No fear and 110% faith in the Guru, then the Lord will overpower and eradicate anything in the way
  21. Because he is NOT in magic vodoo cult blinkin world!!!! Listen, don't take offence, None of us have the right to say who is and who isn't right. However, we are all Manukh and we are all Sikhs. Lets help each other learn, as that is what a Sikh is -A learner. Bottom line,- There may well be some mumbo jumbo damned voodoo and black magic crap. As sikhs, we have the treasure of Gurbani This treasure of Gurbani can overide ANY damned Harry Potta dude or black magic witchcraft. We shouldn't care if it exists or doesn't, We should focus on the Gurbani and Paath. This way, even if this crap does find some damned way into your house, it won't be able to touch you. Sikhs do NOT live in FEAR and we Don't FEAR. WE ONLY LOVE, Love the lord and love the Gurbani... Waheguru Satnaam
  22. Sunsingh is correct, you need to meditate. There is no secet to how, where and what. But you need to put your heart into it and at the same time let your mind detach from all the surroundings, especially all these crazy thoughts. Experience the true ''nothingness'' within yourself. You will begin to feel the love for the Guru and the Guru within you. Infact you shall realise that the empty nothingness within yourself is in fact ''Everything'' As for your silly rants, you need to relax man and stop your mind from thnking crap. Yes, our mind cannot be put silent as millions of thoughts go through it every second.- That is the secret, to NOT pay attention to them and instead focus on the Love For The Guru. The things you mention like greed, lust and anger all there just for your EGO. Your EGO lives in the ILLUSION OF MAYA. This Illusion is what you are seeing all the attached crap through. Focus on the teachings of bani, become or try to be Gurmukh. To do this, you have to do EVERYTHING in a GURMAT manner. Waheguru Satnaam
  23. Is this for your own personal use or are you inviting sangat, in the belief that you would be providing a service. If it's for just yourself and personal use, in the sense of how long and what times are convenient for you, then its fine. But, if for sangat, then it would not fall within rehat guidelines. check SGPC website for more details.
  24. The question is why did you buy it ??? ANS= EGO< EGO>EGO It's your ego, don't worry i'm not criticizing, but we all fall into EGO again and again. You have done a good thing here, by asking. Fact is that you know somehow that it feels wrong. This is the lord inside you informing you. Consider yourself lucky that you are getting this message. I have fallen into ego and purchases many times, in the past I had more money than 'akal' at times and wouldn't even look at the price before purchasing whatever I could get my hands on. Now, your plate is NOT holy, in the sense it's not sacred like a gutkha. Let's say it was sacred, then exposing it on the streets for people to touch or kick or spit at would be very offensive, similar to doing graffiti on a gutkha. BUT, it is NOT sacred, but the WORD is. 'Waheguru' is sacred and in all honesty NO ONE is going to give you the correct and positive answer here. So,some will say it's fine and some will say it's not, but no answer is going to be definite. What I would do here is use your instinct or gut feeling. If your conscious tells you not to use it then don't. I would try to think of it as you purchasing it to stop anyone else abusing it. In effect, you are then doing a seva by having this responsiblity. Think of it as something you want to keep or even donate to the gurdwara.-Some gurdwaras have their own vehicle for taking the Guru Granth Sahib to residences and akhand paths ..etc.. It would be the most appropriate vehicle for the plate. Personally, I would feel awkward if it were on my car. I mean, imagine my car driving down with 'waheguru' on the plate with some bhangra or ragga blasting away!! -It just wouldn't be right-,....That is just my personal opinion. I would feel that I'm carrying a responsibility with me and not being responsible. That is the simplist way of thinking about it. If your conscious feels this responsibility and fear of being irresponsible, then I would not apply it to my vehicle and instead put it to some good use. Think of it as good seva by applying it to a Gurudwara vehicle. On the other hand, if your conscious does not give you this feeling of guilt and irresponsibility, then by all means feel free to apply it to whatever vehicle you wish. ONLY YOU can decide the answer, ONLY YOU.
  25. Now that we have started this issue, we might as well talk some facts. The true facts are that the ramgharias in UK are mostly ones from Kenya- Nairobi and Mombassa. Most of them associate themselves with Kenya more so than Punjab. When it comes to India, I don't think they have a real clue what the situation REALLY is. Although, I must say their youth do have a lot of respect for the turban, I give them that for sure. Most of these guys lack spirituality and they go where there is financial benefit- bottom line. Hence, will favour those that offer cash incentives. Like I say, spirituality and respect towards the khalsa panth is rarely found.
