    Mool for 40 days

Jaap of any mantar whether it be mool mantar or gurmantar will never be in vain if it done with love and devotion. You will certainly get rewards but you might not see them straight away. I personally now look back at a jaap I did some time ago after often wonder was it that which put me where I am today. If Waheguru glances his grace then it will definately bring you closer to him if not all the way there. The only advice I will give you is try and listen with full concentration to what you are reciting. Don't always just go for speed and that how you must complete a certain number in specific time. Your jaap will definately bare fruit but it will be even more if done with a present listening mind. Good luck and go for it....
  4. I believe the Word being referred to in this context is the Anhad Shabad, Anhad Naad, Shej Dhun, Anhad Toor as it is called in Gurbani which manifests itself the more simran you do, and the deeper you go within, as your mind becomes still and silent. It cannot be written down because it a collection of internally heard very subtle sounds. Here is simple quotes from SGGS on Ang 656 of Bhagat Kabir ji & Bhagat Naam Dev Ji's bani that I came across which is applicable. Bhagat Kabir Ji: Why not chant the Lord's Name in your heart, when you are still young? hiradhai raam kee n japehi savaeraa ||3||9|| O Saints, my windy mind has now become peaceful and still. sa(n)thahu man pavanai sukh baniaa || It seems that I have learned something of the science of Yoga. ||Pause|| kishh jog paraapath ganiaa || rehaao || The Guru has shown me the hole, gur dhikhalaaee moree|| through which the deer carefully enters. jith mirag parrath hai choree|| I have now closed off the doors, moo(n)dh leeeae dharavaajae|| and the unstruck celestial sound current resounds. ||1|| baajeealae anehadh baajae ||1|| The pitcher of my heart-lotus is filled with water; ku(n)bh kamal jal bhariaa || I have spilled out the water, and set it upright. jal maettiaa oobhaa kariaa || Says Kabeer, the Lord's humble servant, this I know. kahu kabeer jan jaaniaa || Bhagat Naam Dev JI: One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad. When I see Him, I sing His Praises. jab daykhaa tab gaavaa. Then I, his humble servant, become patient. ta-o jan Dheeraj paavaa. Meeting the Divine True Guru, I merge into the sound current of the Naad. ||1||Pause|| naad samaa-ilo ray satgur bhaytilay dayvaa. ||1|| rahaa-o. Where the dazzling white light is seen, jah jhil mil kaar disantaa. there the unstruck sound current of the Shabad resounds. tah anhad sabad bajantaa. One`s light merges in the Light; jotee jot samaanee. by Guru`s Grace, I know this. mai gur parsaadee jaanee. The jewels are in the treasure chamber of the heart-lotus. ratan kamal kothree. They sparkle and glitter like lightning. chamkaar beejul tahee. The Lord is near at hand, not far away. nayrai naahee door. He is totally permeating and pervading in my soul. nij aatmai rahi-aa bharpoor. Where the light of the undying sun shines, jah anhat soor uj-yaaraa. the light of burning lamps seems insignificant. tah deepak jalai chhanchhaaraa. By Guru`s Grace, I know this. gur parsaadee jaani-aa. Servant Naam Dayv is absorbed in the Celestial Lord. jan naamaa sahj samaani-aa.
  5. Check out this rendition of Tuhi Tuhi a couple of mins into the video.
  6. Sangat Ji, Here are some recent live kirtan recordings of Veer Manpreet Singh (UK Wale) at Ealing Gurdwara. Truly blessed kirtan. Enjoy. 7. That sounds like Veer Manpreet Singh. He is well known for his Tuhi Tuhi track.
  8. Try standing up and doing simran when you feel sleepy. I often have to do this because my legs and bums gets tired and ache. This results in attention being diverted to pain rather than the simran. On the other hand if your mind becomes still and no thoughts are coming into your mind then its not uncommon to enter a sleep like state. Body will fall asleep but mind is awake. Only you will be able tell if your dozing off or the simran continues even though body is relaxed. Guru ji says anadhin sachee bhagath kar sachai chith laaee ||1|| Night and day, center your consciousness on true devotional worship of the True Lord. ||1|| It's an advanced avasta which I would love to experience.
  9. I feel for NEO who seems to doing some deep inner reflection about where he feels his sikhi is going. Whilst he is pouring his heart about how he feels, we all need to be very careful what we type doesn't hurt or break anyone else's sharda. I think he made it quite clear in his original post it wasn't intended as a personal attack against any Jatha since he named most of them. But those loyal to them have been hurt by them even being mentioned in a negative light. I heard from someone which struck a cord with me. Only talk about yourself and dont critise others or look down on them because waheguru lives in us all. if you learn anything positive from any of the Jathas that helps you then share with us all. Leave anything bad behind and move on. We are all on a journey and its not an easy one. We have all been inspired by some Jatha or another at some point which brought us to where we are today. now to look down upon them can be seen as being ungrateful. I'm sure we can all see some positives in all the different branches of our rich religion which is what we should be writing about. We all at times evaluate our own jeevans and see if where we are sitting is taking us forward in our own spirituality. If not move on just make sure where ever you go Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is there and with their kirpa and wahegurus grace you will never go wrong. Personally I don't think he is trying to influence anyone or hurt anyone's feelings. Waheguru
  10. Every two years in Singapore around this time the local sangat organise a large 3 day Kirtan darbar with main stream raagis and kathakars. This years footage is available for the sangat to watch around the world. Enjoy because not sure how long they will leave it up for. http://new.livestream.com/sikhinside/naamras
  11. Some really wise and mature comments made by Humkire. Think we can all take something away from his feedback. Many thanks.
  12. I'm looking for Kirtan by Bhai Gursharan Singh Ludhiana wale. Anyone know any mp3 links or where I can get any CDs? http://bhaidayasinghji.com/ Only found this which a great. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Daya-Karho-Mere-Sai/dp/B004JY4YFA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355127842&sr=8-1
  13. After listening to Giani Ji's katha a couple of years ago with guru ji's kirpa I tried to complete 125,000 Mool Mantars up to hosi bhi such. I used a tally counter which counts up to 9999. Every time it reached 10,000 I wrote it down on a piece of paper. It practically lived with me for the entire time I was doing it. At first it was very hard especially since I had never done anything like it before. On some days I did more than others and when ever my hand went into my pocket and touched the counter spontaneously my jaap would start. Sitting, walking when ever I felt I could do one I did... Giani Ji said initially don't worry about completing it in 40 days just do it so you get into the routine. Took me just over a year. I didn't know about any maryaada, so just did an ardas before guru ji when I started in his hazoori and at the end I finished the last few in Guru ji's hazoori and took a ramala and sweets for my Guru. Setting yourself a large goal is one of the best methods to remain focused as Giani ji has recently stated. The mind starts strong but after a few days it no longer wants to do it. Reminding yourself that you have set this goal and it must be reached keeps you going on the path. The pyaar, and relief ;-) hehehe, one has after the milestone is reached is unexplainable. Sure for those who already do loads everyday they might not need to count. But for beginners like myself I can't thank Giani JI enough for inspiring me to try it out. The only advice I would give myself now should I ever attempt it again is to try and listen to the mantar with full attention of the mind when reciting. Whether you do it orally or with the voice of the mind :stupidme: I do not write this post in pride but hope that if one person reads it and it inspires them to undertake it then I'll be most pleased. If someone like me can do it so can you... May Waheguru Ji bless us all in our own personal journey's to be in his pyaaray charan.
  14. I have last nights audio recording, but haven't checked out the quality yet. If its reasonable I will upload to gurmatveechar.com if they are willing to host.

  19. I work in I.T. so are my descendants going to say our baba was Techi... :toohappy: All new members welcome regardless what their elders were.... :yay: Personally I feel it only becomes an issue when one sect feels they are superior over another, or individuals try and dominate in collective groups just because of which background they come from. Are there differences in upbringing, family life, boli, customs, lifestyles between different groups? Yes! Should anyone be discriminated because of their background? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Should Gurdwaras be named after groups. DEFINITELY NOT!!!! Even if you change the gurdwara name that is not going to solve the problem because I've read various gurdwara's constitutions that state you can only join the committee if your belong to a particular group. Very Sad. Blessed are the Gurdwaras who's members come from all walks of life, who have genuine pyaar for Sikhi and do seva because they want to serve the Sikh sangat for the betterment of the Sikh Panth. SIKH and caste should never be used in the same conversation, PERIOD!!!!
  20. Much obliged SikhSpectrum. Who is the kathavachik giving the explanation? Sounds like Sant Hardev Singh (Lulon Wale) Actually once I post the question I realised that I could also listen to Giani Thakur Singh's explanation in his SGGS katha.
