  1. "We've got the highest levels of controls of security around the work that we do here," Gary Aitkenhead told me.

"We would not be allowed to operate if we had lack of control that could result in anything leaving the four walls of our facility here.

"There's no way that agent would have left. We have complete confidence that nothing could have come from here out into the wider world."

The above comment from the head of the Porton Down laboratory (10 miles from the Sailsbury incident) sounds like an acknowledgement that they stock the Russian nerve agent used in the attack.

  2. That is WRONG. Those Chinese/Bangladeshi people have a choice to work in those places.. These animals did not have a choice at all. How can you compare a rapist/slaughter house to a factory where humans willingly go?? It is common sense, when something is wrong we do not associate with it, as we do not want to show that we support it.

So are you saying they don't suffer? Can you apply the same 'choice' to the other forms of suffering listed in that post?

  3. If it's all about being ethical then why not reconsider using an Iphone made by overworked and exploited Chinese workers, the clothes that are made by impoverished people in Bangladesh who work in horrendous conditions, medicines or fragrances that are first tested on animals. The list goes on and on..

If the bottom line is about being ethical and ending suffering then why is it limited to cows? Why not apply those ethics to human suffering?

Where do you draw the line in terms of being ethical or is it easier just avoiding dairy products and ignoring everything else which aids your lifestyle........ to the detriment of others??

  4. Sorry to disturb the debate, but if anybody wants to see how people get together in Unity, it's happening right now.

100, 000's Sikhs protest across Punjab simultaneously!

EVERY village, town and city in Punjab has joined in solidarity against the beadbi of Maharaj!

ALL are United men, women and children. ....Amritdhari, keshadhari and Sejhdhari....ALL together. ..

and to Preeto, have to say not wise to bring up that. Not good timing, now or ever.

Sorry to throw a negative spanner in the works but lets not fool ourselves if we think the masses are rising up. There are an estimated 13 million Sikhs in Punjab and in whichever televised cover of any dharna you see in parts of Punjab, the numbers range from the low dozens to perhaps 10,000 at the most if there's a large gathering. Given the proportion of the Sikh population the numbers are still miniscule. In the Kotkapura khand loose estimates of 30,000 - 50,000 Sikh protesters were given, yet more realistic figures equate to between 6,000-10,000 being present.

If hundreds of thousands or perhaps even millions of people were protesting then today you would see Presidents rule across Punjab and attempts by the Govt to appease the Sikhs. However the Govt knows that we are a minority within a minority, and in a country which practices vote bank politics, we Sikhs struggle to be heard.

  5. Just to add to this discussion..

This is a false news report. The 150,000 figure relates to the annual intake of conscripts. Putin won't send in a huge conventional army for fear of getting bogged down in a Soviet Afghanistan style war.

Russia is only intervening because Iranian General Suleimani travelled to Moscow about two months ago and informed the Russians that Iran could no longer prop up a faltering Assad regime and Russian military strength was needed in the campaign. So they planned for Russian 'shock and awe' style bombing of rebel positions followed by joint Syrian-Iranian-Hizbollah ground offensives to regain lost territory and consolidate Assads' hold onto power.

If you think that only last month ISIS was within 25 miles of the vital M5 highway connecting Damascus to the North West Allawite strongholds, the 'army of conquest' rebels were within reach of the coastal city of Latakia and the Assad regime was crumbling. Now Russia along with Iran hopes to turn that around.

In regards to why Russia seems so confident and assertive, NATO and the US underestimate Russia on the grounds that they are far superior to Russia in terms of conventional fighting forces. However over the last few decades, both Russia and China have invested heavily in asymmetrical weaponry such as hypersonic anti-ship missiles, EMP weapons, electronic jamming, sophisticated cyber hacking, satellite killers........ weapons generally designed to give them the edge over the US and its allies.

What we see now are two superpower alliances on a collision course with each other as the seeds of WW3 continue to be sown.

  6. Furthermore if you ever ask a scholar as to why there are verses in the Quran which refer to the subjucation and killing of non-believers, then he will probably say that those passages relating to when Muhammed and his followers were being attacked by Quraysh and other tribes.

Yet the question from that arises as to whether the Quran is meant to be a divine revelation or a history book?

  7. I know about Holland but he didn't have access to this manuscript and I am sure that he too would agree there are many errors and omissions in the history too.In fact The muslims do not like him at all since he has questioned/examined their history. I believe Hazrat Mohammed existed but earlier and lived in Petra not Mecca . Mecca was not a major trading place as it was way off the normal trade routes but now has become a super money maker for the tribals who own the land , who did not accept Islam at the time of the prophet but much much later after 3rd Caliph ...interesting that.

I've read Hollands book. In it he said that there are actually no real sources regarding the Quran and the Ka'aba until 100-200 years after the passing of Muhammed. Holland said that the history during the 'golden age' of Islam in reference the successive Caliphates which immediately followed Muhammed are quite vague. Furthermore he also said that an early scholar called Al-Bukhari during the 8th century compiled the 7000 odd Hadiths from around 200,000 possible scripts

His analysis implies that early Islamic history and their idea of authoritative scripts and history could have been doctored and influenced to present the mainstream version of Islam we see today.

Even if we follow the 'official' version of Islam preached by their scholars, that Muhammed received the revelation which he dictated to his followers who then wrote the words on various parchments, which was then later compiled into the Quran during the rule of the third Caliph, and that Al-Bukhari found the 7500 authentic Hadiths out of 200,000 - then even the common man will tell you that there is plenty room for error.

  8. Waheguru

Can someone please answer some of these questions?

1 if khalistan is created what will happen to all the Gurdwaras that will be left outside of khalistan in india, will they be abandened like the ones in pakistan, because the hindus will kick out all the sikhs because they will say now you have your own country go there.

2 Right now we can do parchar all over india easily, if khalistan is created how will we spread sikhi in india? sikhs living outside of khalistan in india will be hated and the parcher will not go on.

3 right now punjab is 60% sikh. Namdharis radhaswami and other dera also claim to be sikh and they also are part of the 60% so that means sikhs who believe in the ten gurus are way less because namdharis and other groups who claim to be sikh are not sikh. Will they support khalistan.

4 If khalistan is created what would the stand be on missionaries converting people, will they have free range to do so.

Who said anything about Khalistan being restricted to the state of Punjab. When the misl's were fighting for self rule in the late 1700s they didn't limit themselves to a small patch of land. Guru Sahib said 'Raaj Karega Khalsa' and that's no different to the concept of Khalistan. Maharaaj also says 'Aaki Rahai N Koe', none shall oppose the Khalsa and people of all backgrounds will support Khalsa Raaj/Khalistan.

We can draw up maps but the reality is that no one knows the extent to which the Khalsa will rule. Our present goal is to carry on working towards freedom, Maharaaj will do the rest.

  9. I think part of the blame lies with our tribal jathedars and their PA's. They lack leadership skills and foresight, and as a result make poor decisions which have far reaching consequences for the Panth. There's a letter being shared on Facebook which is apparently from the PA of Giani Gurbachan Singh. The PA appears to give permission and approval on behalf of the jathedars for 'Nanak Shah Fakir.'

If they had done their maths and objected to the film at the start then perhaps the damage could have been averted?

Instead we are left with protesting against a film which is due to be released imminently, 'with the blessings of Sri Akal Takht.'

  10. That's odd, you shoulda asked him why Jesus isn't mentioned in our Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji then?? But that wouldn't mean anything to him really, since he reads the bible, and our Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji isn't as special to him anymore.

I was getting to that when the people with me thought I was being harsh, just for asking him simple questions!

  11. Farage was talking about legally allowing employers to choose a British worker over a non foreign. Brown stated exactly the same in 2010 by saying British jobs for British workers and no one accused him of racism? No decent employer in the UK will start to discriminate against a well qualified ethnic worker it's not in their interest, if they do they will suffer as the competition will take on the employees. Take the football league, some how I doubt the clubs will discriminate against a top goal scorer if he is ethnic, it will not be in their economic interest.

After the grooming scandal I cannot vote Labour, I cannot vote Conservative as they are committed to the EU even though they suggest otherwise and don't forget Thatcher's alleged role in Operation Bluestar, I cannot vote Liberal as they want a free for all in immigration.

I will be holding my nose and voting UKIP. The Lib/Lab/Con parties for far too long have had a monopoly and have become unaccountable. I want managed immigration with immigrants who can bring innovation, build businesses be good employers and employees, good neighbours, offering skills, stability, loyalty to Britain not someone who wants to kill me as I am not of their faith!

I believe in the concept of Sovereign Nation, the EU wants to destroy all cultures by mass immigration and impose Federal laws.

Look how two black communities in the US struggle to get along

Not quite, nationality aside, when Phillips asked him if there would be laws protecting race or colour, Farage replied 'No, we (UKIP) are colour blind. Being colour blind doesn't prevent the human nature of discrimination. That also implies that UKIP would scrap laws which protect us as Sikhs in all spheres of life.

That shows that he has deeper intentions other than introducing laws which protect British born workers over non-British born workers.

And the grooming scandal can't be blamed at Labour. Grooming by Pakistani gangs has been apparent since the 80's, and since then we've had successive Tory and Labour governments. It was more a failure of state agencies as well as wider British society. Labours partly failed multicultural policy didn't help, but it wasn't the primary factor.
