  1. Akhand Jaap No.9 Prayers for World Peace Since September 11th 2001, Sikh youth have been organizing Akhand Jaap events consisting of 24-hours of non-stop prayers (Vaheguru Simran) for peace and humanity in the world. Each time these prayers take place the events has managed to involve more and more people. These prayers happen twice a year and whilst previously they have been held at Gurudwaras in London. AJ9 is being hosted by the Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha Gurudwara in Leeds. The glory of the Akhand Jaap is that the doors are open to all to attend and participate regardless of their beliefs, be they young and old, Sikh or non Sikh for everyone to come together in prayer to collectively ask the Almighty to shower love, compassion and understanding throughout the world. AJ9 Starts 5am Saturday 8 October 2005 Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha Gurdwara 78 Ladypit Lane, Beeston, Leeds, LS11 6DP For further info. 07980 357 232 / 07958 175 880 / AJ9@SIKHkids.com www.sikhkids.com/akhandjaap.htm

We will inform you all as soon as our formal protests have been arranged. In the mean time please keep phoning these people, they need to know that this time the youth will not let them get away!

  6. For over 20 years Gurdwara Singh Sabha London East has been organising Kabadi tournaments in the name of Guru Arjan Dev Ji's Shaheedee. At these events people from all over the world gather, the minority are there to play Kabadi, however the majority including some of the Gurdwara's own committee members are there to drink alcohol, eat kebabs and to be entertained. The Gurdwara Sahib's sewadars even make Guru Ka Langer and serve it at these events. Did our great Guru's make these sacrifices for this? Please support the youth, phone the committee members (numbers are below) and ask them these 4 questions: 1. Why does the Gurdwara committee invest so much of it's time and money to support such events? 2. Why does the Gurdwara committee use such disgraceful events to remember Guru Arjan Dev Ji's great sacrifice? (Each year there is so much noise and anti-social behaviour at these events that they have to keep changing the venue). 3. What is the Gurdwara's committee doing to support those Sikh men who are alcoholics? 4. What is the Gurdwara's committee doing to support those women and children who are beaten and abused by alcoholic men? This movement can only be successful if YOU make these phone calls! When the youth spoke to this Committee directly their response was that they will hold an emergency meeting and then feedback, 4 weeks later they don’t want to respond... PRESIDENT: LEHMBAR SINGH: 07780 884 098 GENERAL SECRETARY: SANSAR SINGH: 07915 643 084 SPORTS SECRETARY: NIRMAL SINGH: 07854 822 636 IF THESE PEOPLE STOP TAKING YOUR CALLS THEN YOU CAN CALL THEM ON THE GURDWARA NUMBERS: 020 8594 3940 OR 020 85981817 Our protest is peaceful and we humbly request all callers to speak to these people with respect as they are in their own way trying to serve our community. respectsikhi@#
