I've had to make a seperate account due to not being able to log-in with it due to that one having to be connected from Facebook, and this site no longer connects with Facebook and I don't really have access to Facebook that much anymore. If I can log-in with the name @SSD, I will show that they are both the same.

Yeah, I got access towards it, but that was only because I had to disconnect the previous log-in system, I rarely use this account for that reason especially with and I had lost access for this account, (and I will continue with @Jacfsing2.)

Now I'm well and truly confused. Is @Jacfsing2 the same as @Sukhvirk76 or are you just commenting in general about having to make new accounts? Is @Jacfsing2 the same as @SSD?

I do sympathize with having lost passwords and so forth.

Me and @Sukhvirk76 are not the same person and this is a general conversation of lost accounts and making new ones, as you can see this account isn't on quality control or banned. But I lost access so I made @Jacfsing2.

  2. At Delhi, Mata Sundari ji adopted a young boy whom she named Ajit Singh because of his resemblance to her own late son, Sahibzada Ajit Singh ji. After the passing away of Guru Gobind Singh ji at Nanded in October 1708, the Sikhs looked up to her for guidance. She appointed Bhai Mani Singh ji to manage the sacred shrines at Amritsar and also commissioned him to collect the writings of Guru Gobind Singh ji. She also issued under her own seal and authority hukamnamas to sangats. The hukamnamas since discovered and published bear dates between 12 October 1717 and 10 August 1730.

Mata Sundari ji was disappointed in her adopted son, Ajit Singh. Emperor Bahadur Shah treated him as the successor of Guru Gobind Singh ji, called him to his court and gave him a robe of honour in September 1710. This went to his head and he started living in style as a courtier. He grew arrogant and haughty even towards Mata Sundari who disowned him, and migrated to Mathura.

Ajit Singh was later convicted for murder and was put to death on 18 January 1725. Mata Sundari ji returned to live in Delhi where she, died in 1747. A memorial in her honour stands in the compound of Gurdwara Bala Sahib, New Delhi.

At the time of adoption Guru Gobind Singh Sahib G also refused.

So adoption might not b a gud idea!!!!!!

    Plz forgive for any mistake

    Waheguru g ka khalsa,

    waheguru g ki fateh

This is the exception not the rule,
  3. What a strange logic that because you are in a minority, that you won't use your mother langauage.

Another illogical reason of not learning your mother language.

The 2 reasons I stated are very true, in India, the Sikhs have started speaking Hindu, they grow up learning Punjabi, but all their friends speak Hindi, all their teachers speak in Hindi, when they find their future spouse, they speak Hindi, and finally they speak Hindi after their married and with their new families. This is a real threat.
  4. The best way to teach punjabi to your children is to speak punjabi with them. Then when they communicate with you they should also speak punjabi. You can send them to the punjabi classes at the gurdwara all you want but if they come home and you speak English with them then they will not learn punjabi. To learn any language, person to person communication is crucial.

Yes, but if you live in an area where there are no Punjabi people, it seems like a lost cause, why bother learning Punjabi if it has no use in our daily lives?
  5. How can you say? Amrit is only one, Khanda da bata da after all Mai Bhago only became Mata Bhaag Kaur after Amrit, she is one example of many women who became Khalsa (Guru ji's mahal must have had to keep rehit and other women of the household had amrit too. I'm sure Guru ji would not have sanctioned a different method for women as this is going the opposite way to break all bharam of caste, race, sex etc. We do choola of kirpan for Mother and child at the birth of a child accordig to Taksali maryada I am not sure if any other institutions say different.

Anyway the meaning of chula is taking amrit with the understanding that the person will adopt full rehit eventually so is no different ultimately. When I had choola as a kid it was from same bata as everyone else.

Taksal doesn't believe in separate Amrit for females,
    I personally agree with Taksal.
  6. What we need in Sikh temples is to utilize technology more. Lets speak

basically avoid the five thieves. Once you have done that you have basically have followed 99% of the religion. That is what religion essentially is a guide book on life. Follow this and everything will fall into place. You don't need to do any special customs or traditions to come closer to god. When you avoid the five theives you will naturally become closer to God. As your mind is not on lust/greed/anger/attachment) and hankaar.

people who are indulging in these five virtues cannot actually experience god or see any benefit from religion as the mind is not at ease.

I know this as I was was indulging in the five thieves without even knowing it. when I was in this state. I got no joy from listening to a simple shabad or anything like that. As my mind was attached to other drugs of life. Its only when All the drugs of the five thieves are removed is when you will understand what a shabad is. So thats why people dont even feel they can get anything from religion . its because their mental state needs to be clear first to get the benefit from Sikhism. Its like people who experience ecstasy when they listen to a shabad. but if you already on drugs/ or drunk on the five thieves how are you going to experience the ecstasy of the shabad?

Its like eating when you already full you will not get any enjoyment from in. Its only when you mind/soul/heart/brain becomes pure and clean will you understand the beauty of Sikhism. And to do that you must rid yourself of the five evils. if you do that you are following 99% of Sikhism.. Everything else will fall into place when you do that. you will become a kinder person/ more happy ect. I know this As when I completely came away from the five theives thats when your in ecstasy It was not easy but I did it and its easy to do when you know what to stop doing.

Just follow the simple message. When people know the simple message of Sikhism thats when people will flock to Sikhism.

All of this can only be done with Guru Sahib's grace, you can not win by yourself.
  7. The reason that people,(Khalsa, don't think you'd understand what that is), would protest a Gurdwara interfaith marriage is because it's not the way. You just have to get a court marriage to be able to marry a non-Sikh.(We should go back to the old days when only 2 Amritdharis were allowed to marry from Anand Karaj, there's too much poison ideologies going on-site you being an example).

  8. When Vaheguru wants to give you a full beard he'll give it to you. I haven't gotten new facial hair for 3 years, (I'm 17) I think it's just a process that comes at times. Some people in my family are 30 and don't have a beard(they never cut their Kesh), some people are in their young 20s and have full beards. Harbans Singh had a small beard when he left this world.

  9. i have been reading that Guru Nanak Dev Ji disappeared for 3 days whilst bathing in the Kali Bein river.

Did Guru Ji meet Akal Purak as stated in the sakhi, if this was so why do Sikhs mention that Guru Nanak Ji was God himself in Sarguna form?

What is the understanding behind this story, and how is to be applied as it can be confusing and contradictory with the two different statements i.e God as separate to Guru Ji, as opposed to Guru Nanak Dev Ji as God in Sarguna form themselves.

Forgive my ignorance, I only wish to remove doubts and obstacles in my mind.

http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=56mDJAu8fXQ You really have to watch both videos to understand the concept. Guru Nanak is a form of Vaheguru, but Guru Nanak never asked for his body to be worshipped.
  10. [quote name="superkaur" post="618457"

    1) would the relationship have a future long term? parents accept it? community accept it?

    2) Would almighty Waheguru accept your union? do you have love for your flawless creator stronger than his flawed human creation?

3 Kids your offspring what faith or ideology or lifestyle will they follow? Your partner will most probably want to raise them in non-sikh environment which will lead to clashes or you submitting to their will.

I'm just going to give answers based on assumptions.

    1. It would most likely survive long-term, and the parents would most likely have to accept it: the community doesn't matter because the area they most likely live in has few Sikhs or Punjabis, rather it would be appeasing the white people.

    2. Vaheguru would likely accept the union. (What this sounds like to any non-Sikh, "God won't bless your wedding, so go leave, we don't want you.")

    3. I made a post on another topic on the fact that Atheism is on the rise. Also kids aren't stupid, they can think for themselves. Are these people stupid for leaving their parents faith? http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_converts_to_Sikhism_from_Christianity

  11. why do you doubt your Guru Ji? The SIkh Rehat Maryada is universally accepted read that . Then build up your knowledge by reading ithiaas, gurbani, reading Bhai Gurdas ji de Vaaran. Live Sikhi it's meant to be action not just words.

I think he would like to read the Rehatnama because it's more detailed on how a Sikh should live their life. It gives lots of information for someone new to Sikhi.
  12. There are 2-3 main problems here with the guy she's describing.

    1. This guy wears a Pagg, but shaves his beard-A big no no.

    2. He most likely got the conclusion that no Punjabi would date him if he had a turban on, through lots of experiences.

    3. This 'Desi' girl continues wanting to get a guy that for who doesn't like her. I'm not a scientist, but there's clearly nothing special going on, find someone else.

  13. So i know that in sikhi we are meant to marry a sikh......

Apparently i am in love with this sikh guy and i saw him with his girlfriend and it has been burning me inside....how do i stop thinking of him....

He wears a pugh but cuts most of his dhari...i myself am very religiou and love being a sikh....

can someone copy and paste the translation from the guru granth sahib ji about sikh marry a sikh?

    Thanks

Guru Granth Sahib doesn't say that a Sikh should marry a Sikh, that's part of the Rehit Maryada. http://realsikhism.com/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1253135932&ucat=7

Despite I'm against interfaith marriage, I won't bother teaching him because odds are he's not interested. Also there are white Sikhs, a better term to use would be Christian girl.

Sunny hundal is a real life brother of jugraj singh (basics of sikhi), hard to comprehend i know. Sunny is such an embarrassment to Sikhs he defended every action against Sikh civilians and faith in the past only recently he showed some potential and humanity when he talked against British / thatcher involvement in collusion in 1984 anti sikh genocide but he has reverted back to type again bashing Sikhs it seems. On 31st oct 2014 he writes an article that attacks Sikhs that stands up for Sikh values and Sikh marriage as Guru ji would want it. On 31st oct 1984 the anti-sikh pograms began in india but sunny doesnt want the limelight and attention on 30years of indian injustice against innocent Sikh civilians no he wants attention diverted else where so that Sikhs can be bashed by his fellow liberal leftist extremist fascist buddies in the media. Oh another thing he has never bashed muslim extremists before nor their grooming gangs he will always refer to them as asians and try to divert the issue away from islam because he is close friends with muslim girls, one who worked as a guardian journalist. So he doesnt want to say anything to offend his potential dates. Hilariously a former conservative British MP mistakeninly thought he was a muslim because all of his pro-muslim tweets he had to embrassingly tell her no he wasnt muslims but "born in a sikh family" he didnt even say he was a sikh or not.

Bobby friction is known as a pendu and an embarrassment to most Asians not only us Sikhs we have long disowned him but he still wants to be part of our community. He made pro-muslim documentaries even calling muslim brothers trying to be all understanding to why they did the 7/7 terrroorist bombings in 2005. He is a typical coconut and has got many issues in his life ...trying to mix his liberal hedonistic atheist lifestyle with his sikh punjabi roots. And it aint working out too well for him because most of us think he is a looser.

If you look at the facebook link and posts above sunny has deleted all posts that spoke against inter-faith Sikh marriages he even states that he did delete views against his article. He is showing his liberal intolerance against opinions against his true agenda of fascism against Sikhi, he is censoring free speech in his status and his websites that he owns. I used think liberal leftists were more tolerate were more moderate and measuredly and understanding of religious / minorities but it seems that myth has now be removed. This is why i have no time or tolerance of crap coming from liberal leftists and those who claim to be Sikh (like sunny and bobby) but do not stand up for Sikhi they are atheist minded pretending to be Sikhs.

This is Jugraj Singh's brother? Vaheguru really shows just how different 2 siblings can be. It makes me honestly want to respect Jugraj Singh more for his desire to create Basics of Sikhi, and more reason to relate with someone like him.
  15. Sorry I should of said it is very rare to see interfaith couple both chak amrit. But you mentioned the rise of Atheism. Yes Atheism is growing very fast among the youth due to seeing religion as oppression and violence in their own views hence they become very ignorant of religious followers. The problem is that today western Sikh youth are saying Sikhism should be progressive and throw the "its equality" excuse without going over gurbani/rehit and talking in depth about this interfaith marriage issue. This is what we'd expect out of youth growing up in westernized secular societies

Also Atheism doesn't have any borders, it doesn't matter how devout your family was, it can still affect you. I think that would be more important to highlight than interfaith marriages. There are lots of ex-muslims and ex-Christians because of Atheism. More so than some "love and romance". Sikhi has more equality than any other religion, what head of religion gave his life for non-believers? Guru Tegh Bahadur!
  16. whats worse is some of these people's views on his fb post.... exactly what I stressed about https://www.facebook.com/s1.hundal/posts/10154795741705503

One woman posted: Is this a more recent issue? A Catholic relative of mine married a Sikh a few years ago and AFAIK there wasn't any kind of backlash from either side. They have two kids now who are raised Sikh but come to some of our Catholic ceremonies.

Disappointing to read the first couple of comments btw. The most successful religions evolve to suit the needs of its population.

    ....

I would recommend they get a court marriage, until either partner converts. I personally don't know why anyone would choose non-sikhi over Sikhi, but to each to his own. Instead of Anand Karaj to expand Sikhi, I would prefer they learned from the Whyguru Course made by Basics Of Sikhi.
