  1. just the fact that you consider training with a kirpan "playing with your kakkars" demonstrates that you have absolutely no knowledge of martial arts training. Since when did training become playing? Please don't spread your fantasy world nonsense if you have no idea what you're talking about. I'm sure there are some World of Warcraft forums you could post on instead.

I will admit that calling it "playing" was not the best term, I apologize. But did I personally do Nindak of you or anyone else? There is a respectful way to state your opinion rather than being an "internet warrior", I was just stating a fact, I personally believe the Khalsa should train with all the weapons in the world, but let's say your Kirpan for some reason falls to the floor,(it's no longer on you, so technically you would have to be forgiven for that). I also approve of not dropping the Kangha on the floor.

  3. Bhai Jugraj Singh of Basics of Sikhi also agree with Akal Takht suggesting that Sikhs should have more kids. And this is not surprising. Any Sikh parcharak who is knowledgeable about our critical situation knows it is suicidal for a minority who also happens to be nationless to have a negative birth rate.

I'll just admit that before Basics Of Sikhi was there,I knew very little about Sikhi, if there is no Prachar, then the minority will become Atheists, so I don't recommend having lots of kids to support Sikhi. Nor do I personally believe that no one is born a Sikh.
  4. What's wrong with having 4 kids? The Akal Takht Jathadar gave this good suggestion because Sikhs have become corrupted by western mindset and thought where they now see kids as a burden. Following sinful western secular practices of abortion(murder) of their own children. For any community to grow naturally you need minimum of 3 kids per family, anything less will not grow the community. Sadly now our people only have 1 or 2 kids. Even during the militancy years of the 80s, the Kharku Singhs encouraged Sikhs to have more kids. The result of this was that despite the Sikhs going through the genocide of the 80s and 90s, the Sikh population percentage share in Punjab actually grew and only began declining after the militancy also finished. Look at the west, Goras are having so few kids that one day they will become a minority within their own countries. Today that is what is happening in Punjab too where Sikhs will become a minority because they are following western family model.

I think a logical approach is Prachar, BasicsOfSikhi!
  5. It's complete nonsense whoever said don't train with shastar. You will never become proficient in correct usage and unilisation of shastar unless you train with the actual shastars you intend to use. Using substitutes is not the same.

Every shastar is different in terms of material, weight, balance, construction etc. You need to be inimately comfortable with the actual shastar you carry this will only come with training with that shastar.

As long as there is correct respect of shastar there is no issue with training with the shastar you carry.

go and ask any martial artist who trains with edged weapons and bladed weapons, there is no real substitute to training with the actual weapons you intend to use. Yes if your skill level is not proficient to use live blades then use training aids instead.

Find me a reference from a reputable puratan historical text that says that weapons should not be removed from their sheaths for training .. Im willing to bet no such references exist in suraj prakash, panth praksh, Dasam granth or sarbloh granth.

This fairy tale was probably made up by a new age "hippy Sikh"...

When Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699 created Khand Di Pahul, he said that his sword needed blood, his blade got a bit bloodier each time and finally when the Kirpan was full with blood, he created Khand Di Pahul di Amrit. Also he brought the Punj Pyare back to life(resurectiom). Also if someone wants to train with shastars, they should most likely get a gun because it's more practical and can fire from a far distance, but I don't know the situation in other countries,(I live in America)
  6. The khoon part is true, Guru Hargobind always had to Kirpans, one Miri and the other Piri. In one battle, his Miri sword broke, and he decided to fight with his hands and not the sword of Piri. But, understand that shastars are not toys, and if you wish to train with a Kirpan: please train with another one than what your Kakkar is. Would you play with your Keshas,Kangha, Kachera, or Kara? I recommend you buy some of these,(not my shop) http://www.budk.com/mobile/custserv/custserv.jsp?pageName=category2883

We can't see microorganisms with naked eyes but we can see those animals.

Microorganisms killed with every breath but some of them are needed for our body.

Animals are here with us not for us.

If no more people want to eat those meat, why should those who are killing them continues killing? U think animals' meat are needed for human's health?

I dont think that if human don't eat animals will have more diseases or fall sick or die earlier lol ?

Guru Nanak ate meat, in Kurukshetra.
  8. This person mentions that women shouldn't be aloud to stay out late at night. And no boyfriends, I would like to say that it's only to protect you, a Christian who really loved and cared for his or her daughter would tell a couple to "bring her back [at a certain time]," this isn't a religious issue. Also to the no boyfriends, I would ask, "Why do you need a boyfriend?" I'll be honest and say if you have no plans on marrying that person, don't date them, if you can go ahead. I'm sure everybody has had someone who they feel a connection with, but in reality, if Vaheguru wants you 2 to be together, he would've just made a special situation for you to date. (I support the courting system of dating, because the family is out there for you),

  9. This topic got real popular real fast, I just wanted to say that talking about the issue doesn't do anything, we have to find solutions as a Panth of saviors of humanity instead of arguing if it was their fault, "All it takes for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing," Its good that this is being discussed, now let us as a Panth move forward and try resolving this issue, because if we want Guru Sahib to be happy we should do instead of think and do nothing. Just my sentiment.

  10. vegetaria calling me fool

Honestly if you eat meat and the sight of seeing a animal slaughtered brothers you then maybe you should rethink your diet.Imagine being hung upside down, shocked into paralysis, having your throat cut, then drowned in hot water...while youre conscious. Thats the stuff of nightmares, and its the tragic reality for billions of birds each year. These animals have virtually no protection from the worst slaughter abuses, you can have steak dinner tonight bro

    "First Mehl:

Look, and see how the sugar-cane is cut down. After cutting away its branches, its feet are bound together into bundles,

and then, it is placed between the wooden rollers and crushed.

What punishment is inflicted upon it! Its juice is extracted and placed in the cauldron; as it is heated, it groans and cries out.

And then, the crushed cane is collected and burnt in the fire below.

Nanak: come, people, and see how the sweet sugar-cane is treated!" Ang 143. But really this is going of topic, and I won't argue anymore on vegetarianism, because that's not the issue of this topic, you have your way of thinking and I have mine. Vaheguru bless you!

  11. eat dead animals why follow the sikh tradition ??

"The fools argue about flesh and meat, but they know nothing about meditation and spiritual wisdom.

What is called meat, and what is called green vegetables? What leads to sin?

It was the habit of the gods to kill the rhinoceros, and make a feast of the burnt offering.

Those who renounce meat, and hold their noses when sitting near it, devour men at night.

They practice hypocrisy, and make a show before other people, but they do not understand anything about meditation or spiritual wisdom.

O Nanak, what can be said to the blind people? They cannot answer, or even understand what is said.

They alone are blind, who act blindly. They have no eyes in their hearts.

They are produced from the blood of their mothers and fathers, but they do not eat fish or meat." Ang 1289, Meat is not bad for you.

  12. In response to the last post, though my partner is sikh, he does not attend the temple much etc, he leads a good and honest life etc just doesn't necessarily know the ins and outs of Sikhism. We have plans in place to go to India in December then someone mentioned we may not be able to so now we are concerned. If we can't, it will be very disappointing not to have been accepted.

I do believe it is best for you 2 to have a court marriage, because when you get an Anand Karaj, you promise that Guru Granth Sahib is the center of your life: how would you do that as a Christian, or how would he do that as a "liberal" Sikh? Did you watch the video?
  13. I need some help. I am a catholic, British female and my partner is a British sikh male. We want to get married this year and what to do the ceremony in a temple in India. Legally we won't be 'married' as I'm aware we have to be in the country for at least 30 days before they can pass everything and so we just want to do the ceremony in India then when we come home, legalise it here. My question however to you all is.... Will a temple allow me to have the ceremony seeing as I'm not sikh? ?

    This video explains it:
Also since you're a Christian, the Bible says something about being unevenly yoked,of course you could just become a Sikh. Interfaith marriages only cause confusion, both of you should accept Christianity or Sikhi, it's much easier that way.
  14. It has been scientifically proven that receiving and giving hugs releases the bodys natural love drug, oxytocin, calming your nervous system and boosting positive emotions.

While the robotic hugging chair comes in male and female varieties, would it have the same soothing effect?

    http://www.inquisitr.com/1525100/japan-invents-a-chair-that-hugs-you-when-you-are-lonely-redefines-creepy/

I most likely wouldn't feel comfortable being hugged by an inanimate object.
