  2. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-60523422 Women have been speaking about shocking incidents of sexual harassment - after a BBC poll found many often still feel unsafe walking alone at night. The new poll suggests 43% of women in the UK have experienced unwelcome touching or groping in public. The survey - conducted by YouGov - also indicates 28% of women have experienced indecent exposure in public. The chair of the Women and Equalities Committee said Boris Johnson must show he takes women's safety seriously. It follows growing pressure to make public sexual harassment a crime...... The survey found two thirds - 66% - of women said they did not feel safe walking alone at night, at least some of the time. That compared to just 39% of men who said they felt unsafe in the same situation. The findings come a year after the murder of Sarah Everard, who was abducted and murdered while walking home in south London. Ms Everard's killer, police officer Wayne Couzens, was previously linked to allegations of indecent public exposure. Hers and other high-profile cases in the past year have led to increased awareness and campaigning around women's safety and public sexual harassment. The BBC has also spoken to women across the UK about how sexual harassment impacts their lives. One, a woman named Sarah, was on her way to a morning exercise class in Edinburgh last year when a man followed and groped her before running off laughing and filming her reaction. "I was incredibly shocked. I remember I felt incredibly angry as well," she told the BBC. "I also felt a real invasion of privacy, the fact he had filmed the whole incident.....

  5. Interesting, this is showing on Channel 4 in UK tonight https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Servant_of_the_People_(TV_series) Servant of the People (Ukrainian: Слуга народу, Russian: Слуга народа, sometimes translated as Servant of the Nation) is a Ukrainian political satire comedy television series created and produced by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who stars as Vasyl Petrovych Holoborodko, a high-school history teacher in his thirties who is unexpectedly elected President of Ukraine after a viral video filmed by one of his students shows him making a profane rant against government corruption in his country.[1][2][3] The series is produced by Kvartal 95, which was founded by Zelenskyy.[4] It would become much more involved in Ukraine's actual politics; on 31 March 2018, a political party named after the television series was registered with the Ministry of Justice,[5] and Zelenskyy was actually elected President of Ukraine on 21 April 2019 with over 70 percent of the second-round vote.[6]

  9. https://www.west-midlands.police.uk/news/sex-offender-jailed-after-we-traced-him-canada Sex offender jailed after we traced him in Canada A man has been jailed for child sex offences after we tracked him down to a mechanic’s workshop in Canada and brought him back to face justice. Mohammed Schwitters, from Birmingham, sexually abused a child over a period of seven years starting when the girl was just 10-years-old. Jailed - Mohammed Schwitters It happened between 2010 and 2017 and we arrested Schwitters when the offences were reported to us in 2017. Schwitters, aged 55, skipped the country during our investigation – but officers from our Public Protection Unit worked tirelessly over the next three years to track him down. We finally caught up with him on 1 September 2020 - working together with the Canadian Authorities - we tracked the mobile phone number and bank accounts he used to a mechanic’s workshop in Toronto. He was extradited back to the UK and appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on the 10 December 2021 where he pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual assault on a child, three counts of attempted rape and three counts of assault by penetration. And on today (Friday 4 March), Schwitters was jailed for 18 years; he will remain on the Sex Offender Register for life. Detective Constable Kat Sands said: “This case really highlights how we take reports of sexual abuse very seriously and will work with survivors, help get them the support they need, and work with them to bring offenders to justice. “It is never too late to report sexual abuse and we will leave no stone unturned to get justice. “While this sentence can never undo what happened, I hope the victim will find some comfort in knowing justice has been served.” If you have been affected by this report and find this upsetting, or if you just want to talk to someone, The Survivors Trust is there for you. 12. @Ranjeet01 Love the knowledge you are sharing! @shastarSingh - how is the Media reporting the Ukraine-Russia situation and how do your close family and friends see it ?
  13. @GurjantGnosticI recommend this if you have a loose hour and want to watch some intelligent geopolitical British humor
  14. Looking at what google defines as 'Central Asia', there is one thing those countries have in common. They are Muslim countries.
  15. I've not experienced any racism (yet) in my encounters with Russians or other Eastern Europeans, in the UK. I think the UK Media like to pretend there is more racism than there is. Why do they 'hate on ' central Asians - many of them have similarish eyes (including Putin when younger https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1566537/vladimir-putin-young-russia-president-childhood-photos-ukraine-spt
  16. Mum says 'pata nahi kahde vaste larde ne, tu kyun jaana?!' She loves the drama part of the news. She likes her soap operas on TV These boxers have 'balls' btw. Or does anyone cynically think the Klitschko brothers will be trying to further political ambitions ? https://www.boxingnews24.com/2022/03/four-world-champions-at-war-usyk-the-klitschko-brothers-and-lomachenko/
  17. Agree 100% about the propaganda and manipulation. It's like been said in this thread previously, some people love the 'theatre' /'drama' they see on the news. Talking with my parents, who are in their 60's and they are accepting the media narrative here in the UK without question. You are right, those 'players' don't really matter in the grand scheme (but the channel is gaining popularity in the UK from what I hear on the 'grapevine'). I think they agree with what Simranjit Singh Maan said, and think that somehow they will gain allies by siding with Ukraine. It's very silly in my opinion
  18. Funny video (but sad also) can be understood with volume off or if don’t understand by just watching wonder how many India Panjabis have similar experience, men and women?
