  1. To build muscle you need a greater level of resistance and fewer reps. I would suggest a set of 3, comprising of 6-8 reps for each exercise. I'm keeping this fairly generic as I not a personal trainer and I don't know at what point you are starting, your fitness levels etc. Exercises you might want to consider, after a warm up, might include dead lifts, press ups, squats, lunges, chest press etc. Just make sure you do the exercises correctly and stretch properly afterwards as well.

  2. let me give you an example...

    over 25, female, uk

Goals: Tone and increase fitness levels, reduce body fat/gain muscle -- aim to go swimming twice a week and weight training twice a week

I have been training since I was 21, so I would looking for someone at more of advanced level of training

However, for this to work more than two people need to be willing to partake.

  3. Are there any fitness enthusiats in the UK? Anyone interested in becoming a fitness buddy?

The aim is to inspire, encourage, motivate others to maintain a heathly lifestyle through regular fitness.

If you are interested perhaps reply with the following

Age bracket (under 25s/ over 25s)

Gender (male/female - in case it's not obvious)

Goals (loose weight/ maintain weight/ gain muscle/ enhance fitness levels etc)

Additional info (Stage of training/ Area of expertise/ Sports you currently partake in)

Please note, the purpose is to provide support to your online fitness buddy and to help you to find someone with similar goals. You may wish to share training programmes/ schedules/ meal ideas / arrange weekly check-ins through PM etc.

  4. Penji, what is actually causing you to be sad, why are you crying, what are you crying for?

The reason I ask, is sometimes it helps to do some self reflection.

There maybe some very simple solutions but first of all you need to understand what is causing you to be sad in the first place.

  5. The water goes through a cylinder (rather than a jug) system for drinking water, it's built into the kitchen (that's as much as I can remember).

I personally don't eat out, even at weddings, in fact I ususally only go for the anand karaj and then have langar.

  6. VJKK VJKF

When I went to India last year, guru kirpa, I experienced no issues with my health. I always drank boiled water, even when travelling I took boiled water that had been cooled and I bottled it myself. I never used bottle water (at the house I was mainly residing, the water had been through a water filter) to brush my teeth but I made sure I didn't swallow any. I mainly ate home made food (roti and sabji), I ate langar at certain gurdwarae but I didn't have jal. Sometimes I took a packed lunch. I did have cereal and milk for breakfast (I took my own cereal and the milk was from the home farm).

Don't forget to pack Jungle insect repellent pump spray, I took a bottle of the maximum strength, take it with you when you travel, you may need to top up in the evening. You will find some regions are worse than others. You could take some antihistamine incase you get bitten/ have an allergic reaction (providing you are okay to take them or use a cream).

  7. It is not clear to me either. Are you asking what food to serve or when to serve or something else? Usually when you have guests you would do as "Seeking the light" has suggested. If the guests were coming at 1pm then you may be able to get away with offering soft drinks and then serving roti, shortly after arrival... if they were coming at an odd time like 3pm, you would usually have a starter... it depends how long you are expecting them to stay, what time you have invited them over.

  8. Based on the limited information provided, I would suggest that you look into Leamington Spa (approx 15 mins drive to Coventry), Warwick, Sutton Coldfield (typically you would get a 4 bed house within budget), Harborne, Edgbaston, Walsall, Tettenall in Wolverhampton, Handsworth Wood (H.W. will be closer to Soho Road than some of the other Birmingham areas, I think you will find a larger population of Indians in H.W, so it really depends on what your criteria is, other than what you have already specified).

    Hope that helps, good luck.

  9. Interesting suggestions, not what I would have (referring to the protay) and I don't eat out either.

    This is what I have...

    1. Wholewheat pasta with roasted veg, such as peppers, tomotoes, mushrooms, couguettes, aubergines

    2. Wholewheat pasta with tomato sauce and vege saugages sliced

    3. Wholewheat spaghetti with vege mince in tomato sauce with grated cheese

    4. Wholebread bread or little brown rolls with homous, lettuce, grated carrot, peppers, cucumber

    5. Wholebread bread with lettuce and cooked tufo in curry sauce (so you make the tufo before hand and allow it to cool)

    6. Crackers with cottage cheese and pineapple (take the cottage cheese in a tub) and an apple

    7. Quinoa and bulgar with roasted veg

    8. Salad (lettuce, cucumber, tomato, carrot, cellery, nuts, seeds, kidney beans, butter beans, sweetcorn, grated cheese, raisins)

    9. Soya or bean burger with a small salad

    10. Roti (large and thin) with sabji (like a wrap)

  10. Gurfateh penji

I would like to ask you a question (to Brunette OP)... why do you want to take amrit?

Forgive me if I am mistaken, but here it seems that you are trying to decide between amrit and a wedding outfit? It could be that depending on opinions from various people, you wear the outfit/ accessories/ do things slightly differently to follow tradition etc and you choose to take amrit later... now that is assuming that you will have an opportunity later. It could be that you take amrit and change the colour of your outfit.

Either way > Think carefully about what you truely want and once you know, your question will be answered.

A humble request to all posters, to allow penji time for self reflection. There are posts that have been made previously if penji whats to search on what is suitable entire for an amritdahri wedding (and penji above has made some suggestions) or better still search deep within, for her answer.

  11. Okay, so i watched a few clips, he has a nice voice but not a strong voice... that was just focusing in on the vocals rather than what he was singing.

And yes, parts of the clip made me cringe too!

In response to KalSingh's question, I think if a singh has a nice/ good/ strong voice he should use it for singing the praises of god, i.e. live kirtan and this could be done at personal, local, national, global level, where his talent would still be appreciated and he would not be compromising his sikhi.
