  1. This is really good. I didnt know Sikhs had achieved this. Pity we aint got the same effort for when we really were/are attacked.
  2. I commend the Church for making such a fuss over a mere computer game. Our Holiest of Shrines Sri Harmandir Sahib was attacked in REALITY and we cant ask for justice. The Church are complaining about FICTION. When will we realise we have rights as Sikhs. Look how much fuss they are making, but we as Sikhs feel we will get a bad name if we speak out. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/5011268.stm Anger over cathedral attack game Famous buildings are used in the game as a backdrop for combat Officials at Canterbury Cathedral are asking for a new video game to be withdrawn because it shows the building as a backdrop for a terrorist battle. War On Terror allows gamers to take part in battles between terrorists and a world strike force. Christopher Robinson, spokesman for the dean and chapter, said: "Having the cathedral as aesthetic wallpaper for violence and hatred isn't appropriate." The game's distributors, Koch Media, said the game would not be withdrawn. Monte Cristo, which developed the game, said the cathedral was a "natural backdrop for the valour of the world forces." The firm said it attempted to portray places it felt were visually appealing. The whole point of the church is to preach God's love to the world and for humans to love each other Christopher Robinson David Hockley, a producer at Monte Cristo, said: "We wanted something very British and something easy to identify. Canterbury was the natural choice. "War on Terror depicts a worldwide battle between terrorists, a Nato-like strike force called the World Forces and the Chinese. This fight takes place in various places throughout the world." Other buildings featured in War On Terror include the Eiffel Tower and the Brandenburg Gate. But Mr Robinson said: "The whole point of the church is to preach God's love to the world and for humans to love each other." He said a letter would be sent to the game's distributors, Koch Media, in the next few days. Canterbury Cathedral is regarded as the "headquarters" of the Church of England and attracts visitors from all over the world. The first cathedral was established on the site in 597 and its famous Bell Harry Tower was completed in 1538. The cathedral was also the scene of Thomas Becket's murder in the 12th Century.
  3. waheguroo ji ka khalsa waheguroo ji ke fatehh dat was time back.. nd IT DOES NOT HAPPEN REGULARLY!!!!!!!!!!! esp @ the RECC... onli thing that happens there are fmaily functions i.e bday parties.. night before wedding parties... yee it happenede last year.. nd people who did it regret it..!! waheguroo ji ka khalsa waheguroo ji ke fatehh Local Sangat told teh Singhs who went last week that it is a regular thing. Apparently quite a few people said this. Your right the committee are to blame.
  4. I take it the R.E.C.C is the Slough Ramgharia community centre? Yes it is.
  5. A Singh emailed me this gig flyer. It took place last year. The local Sangat say it is a regular occurance.
  6. A few Singhs went to Ramgharia Slough Gurdwara today to do parchaar about their hall. They have parties regularly and even gigs. The Singhs are still on their way home but have said that they were not met with the best reception. In the begining there was only 3 Singhs who were abused vebally by the committee. They used filthy language and were very agressive in their appoach towards the Singhs. Then when the Singhs refused to stop handing out parhaar and speaking to the Sangat to get a petition signed they called the police to get them removed from the Gurdwara Sahib. The police asked the Singhs to leave the premises and the 3 Singhs stood outside the gates to carry on doing parchaar. The police left after speaking to the committee about their abusive appoach towards the Singhs. The Singhs were later joined by 3 others and the Sangat were generally in total agreement that the parties, meat and alcohol should be stopped. The Sangat told the Singhs that there are regular gigs and parties for the local youth. As the day progressed an incident occured which I cannot say much about as it is a police matter. A committee member drove his car straight into one of the Singhs handing out pachaar. Thank Guru Ji the Singh is ok and not badly hurt. The day ended with the Pardhaan of the Gurdwara saying these words: "Tusi khusre banke ethe tapi jaande, Punjab vich thoodi bond vachdi-a." Apologies for quoting this disgraceful man, but translated this means 'you are jumping up and down here but in Punjab YOU are getting your arse whooped'. This is an insult to those Singhs Shaheed in Punjab for the Panth. He sees them as different fom himself and holds no respect for the shaheed brothers and their families. The Singhs said they were insulted all day and the committee made castist remarks.
  7. yeah, like lets hav a sikh version of the taleban and ban all music, cultural activities, dress up as ninjas so no one can look at us, have our own sikh only schools, segregate ourselves from all the other communities we live in, call everyone a racist if we dont get our own way, apply for government grants to build the biggest gurudawaras under the guise of they will be for the whole community and all will be welcome and then fight in them between ourselves and ban people we dont like from coming to them and pay for the police to come with metal detectors on the days we change the commitees so we dont get unwanted people attending... etc. etc. jus kiddin..! crazy fools Your not funny.
  8. u r right in that we cant always agree with decsions, but i dont think a difference in opinions always means there is a sinister personal agenda. this issue has esclated to something which effects us all. we should sometimes look at how situations came about and compare them to other live situations before we react. there is always an aftermath to all situations and we should always be ready for that, if someone assinates this saadh tommorrow, then be ready to explain how he was different from the many others who still openly attack or offend the sikh dharam. explain what isolated this saadh over the naamdhari guru or ashutosh or whichever living pakhandi guru . and yes we should all carry out our ardas for the chardi kala of the panth, just as we do every day of our lives! If someone assinates this 'saadh' tommorrow who will have to explain what to who? You have lost me now. This isnt the shares market where we have to explain our decisions to investors. Will the Sikh Panth have to explain to YOU my veer why they decided to do xy and z? Is it an explanation for the Hindustan government? Or are you talking about the explanation to Guru Ji? Guru Ji already knows our explanations. Guru Ji knows that we are weak and empty. I think we should start another thread on this: Do you think naamdhari guju is an issue? Is Achutosh an isue? ok, maybe you guys know better, i have my weaknesses which maybe dont show me what u see. yep. all these groups and saadhs who openly offend the sikh dharam by claiming guruship or attemp to undermine our Gurus can be a problem, but only as big as you make it. i mean one fat guy dresses up in in a camp outfit, puts super size mock bata in front of him, gets a picture taken, puts it in the papers and we automatically see him as a threat to Guru Gobind Singh. why is it that easy? are we really that insecure about our dharam that we give high level big up prominance to a fat saadh dressed in pink and we start a massive campaign against him? i dont see it and i can only apologise for having a different opinion. You are allowed your opinion veer. No one should ever begrudge you of that. But you never answered my questions. and u my friend never answered mine.... can someone help me with the punjabi on the saadhs advert, what does it say? What was your question veer?

  11. Why do our brothers always create their own issues. We should try and support the Sikhs in Hindustan as best as possible. They have taken the route to protest so we must respect that. We wont always agree with decisions of everyone but until we stop trying to bring up own personal agendas into every issue we wont get anywhere. I think everyone should do ardaas and extra paath for the Panth. Naamdharis are another issue..so lets start a seperate thread on that and talk about how to tackle them.
  12. Please help distributing this leaflet. Maybe we could collectively hand out these flyers at our local Gurdwara. Especially those with halls. What_the_Gurdwara_is_meant_to_be_v3_1_.pdf
  13. No thank you to this event. Sorry but not welcome here in the UK.
  14. Please please help distribute this flyer. If anybody has any more ideas please lets start putting them into action.
  15. Please hand out this leaflet. One way of hopefully tackling this issue. What_the_Gurdwara_is_meant_to_be_v3_1_.pdf
