I thought that the event yesterday was a huge success. Sikh Council UK are the ones I think that have come out with their heads held high as they did not take sides and supported the campaign throughout. Both Jagtar Singh and Balvinder Kaur from SCUK were on Sikh Channel and both were grateful for the awareness that the event has raised and hopefully has made their jobs slightly easier! Fateh Ji

Very good news, that for some unknown reason all of a sudden the Italians have decided to talk. Both Sangat TV and Sikh Channel mentioned the press release 2 nights ago, roughly at the same time. I congratulate them both for reporting on this. With regards to todays Dastaar Day programme, I think it was a huge success and we need to not only congratulate Sikh Channel, but we need to congratulate Sangat TV for its negative publicity and for allowing all the panthic leaders to come on and say that the event is a waste of time and no one should go. Even though in my estimation at the peak there were 5-7000 people there, I think the Panthic leaders sitting at home got the messgae from the Sangat that they are no longer wanted, as more than anticipated people turned up. We should all support the Sikh Council and back them for all they have done. Please remember Sikh Federation is part of the Sikh Council and should not be singled out as being a key player, as Sikh Council embraces all organisations.

Gurps you have written your post really well. You should see if you can get a job with SCUK, if you already haven't got one with them! With regards to D Day (Dastaar Day), this has been promoted and advertised as an event as far back as April 2011. In your post you said that Bal started this event to get one over Sangat TV because they won the ratings battle because of their coverage of the riots. Gurps when were the riots??? With regards to Jathebandian using one channel to slag off the other channel, I think it is wrong and very petty! One minute these so called Panthic leaders, including Gurmail Singh from SCUK are on Sikh Channel saying they support the event totally and next minute they are on Sangat TV saying that it is totally wrong! The only people that have made this an issue and a mess are the Panthic/ Pathetic leaders we have running our Jathebadian. As was mentioned last night on Punjab Radio, if all the Jathebadian joined to setup SCUK, then why do they keep on interfering in what the SCUK is doing? I wll tell you why - it is because they are worried that they will lose their status as being a leader!!!

I think we have gone off this topic slightly on this thread. Sikh Council UK gave a statement saying that they do not support the Dastaar Day campaign. My question to them is this: Why did they (their Secretary General - Gurmail Singh) come on Sikh Channel on Sunday and say that they will lead the Dastaar Day Campaign?? they also said that we should forget what has happened upto now and work together on this event to make it successful Also the same person at Sikh Channel Awards last week, in his speech supported the Dastaar Day event. why?? As we are all realising that Sangat TV has become a puppet of Badal, whose puppet is the Sikh Council? Gurmail Singh should resign with immediate effect and Bhai Sahib Mohinder Singh Ji should re-take control of their Sangat TV channel!

Guru Panth Khalsa, I totally agree with you! Sangat TV was setup, as everyone is aware with the backing and total support of Bhai Sahib Mohinder Singh Ji and GNNSJ. The waste of space people running it at present should be kicked out and Sangat TV be bought back to its original non-political basis on which it was started.

what a load of ****!!! If there was a technical difficulty, then why did they show the sangat for the whole 9 mins, and why did the sound miraculously return as the speaker finished??? As per your second post, I have contacted Sangat TV today and they have no comment on this and said that they were not aware of the sound going. When asked why they showed the sangat for 9 minutes instead of the speaker they again did not have an answer! Babbarsher it is you that needs to understand technology, or maybe Sangat TV !!!!

How jealous can SANGAT TV get before we realise what they are upto??? Sangat TV and Sikh Channel were showing live broadcast of Sikh Federation Conference from Wolverhampton today, and I have just found out that when Dr Sadhu Singh, a presenter on Sikh Channel was asked to do a speech about 3pm this afternoon, SANGAT TV muted his voice on their broadcast and turned the cameras towards the sangat! For the 10 minutes that Dr Sadhu Singh was doing his speech there was no sound and the cameras were facing the sangat. I will put this footage on you tube if any doubters would like to see it? IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL FAIR PRESENTATION OF NEWS AND CURRENT EVENTS?? When sangat TV were showing the funerals of the three muslim boys, they showed uninterupted live footage, including all the muslim prayers and also speeches that were contradicting to our faith. What are they playing at?? I have just watched the repeat showing of Dr Jasdev Singh Rai's discussion about Dastaar on SANGAT TV. As a so called panth leader and gen sec of BSCF I am not happy with his comments and he needs to be brought in front of the Sadh Sangat and asked to explain the following: 1 He says that all is ok in the UK and therefore all is ok for sikhs that are UK citizens, and we should not gather in front of parliment. Does this mean that all is ok for us when we go to place like Italy?? of course not we will be asked to take our Dastaar off irrespective of us having UK citizenship 2 He has suggested that instead of gathering peacefully and showing unity we should take the MPS out to dinner and provide food and drink for them, as that is what they would prefer (ie wine and dine them). is this the new BSCF philosophy?? or is this what he has done in the past to get to become a so called panth leader?? 3 He then said that most of the high powered people in London are members of 'Gentlemens clubs' - and that if we wanted to get them to listen to us then we should be thinking the same way as them??? So is he a member of a Gentlemens Club? is this another way that he has got to where he is? it was mentioned earlier in this discussion that Sangat TV have a reason for being against Dastaar Day and that they are not jealous. Why dont they come out and tell the Sadh Sangat the reasons instead of repeating shows like Dr Rai's?

Well said Angrez! I have been a member of this forum for a numnber of years. I have hardly posted my views over this time, but what has happened over the last few days has really made my blood boil! That waste of space Rana needs to be bought in front of the Sadh Sangat and questioned with regards to his motives. All he kept on saying yesterday was that Sikh media channels should present news and news only. What the hell have they been doing for the last 2 days?? Slandering others is not presenting news!! I am sure that Rana is an Indian Government employee. I have heard that there is proof out there that he has been paid by the Government of India in the past?? I myself like to travel the world, whether it is for business or for pleasure, and up until the last 2 years I had never thought that me wearing a dastaar would be an issue. I have to think twice before booking any trips as I do not want to go to countries where my Dastaar will be abused! Sangat TV have got it in their heads that it is not an issue for Sikhs in the UK and if we stand up for our brothers and sisters who live in Europe we might be causing problems for ourselves - Does Sangat TV think that by showing a UK passport we will be let through the security checks?? WJKK WJKF We as Sikhs need to have a definate reson behind everything we do, because we are Guru Ji's students. If we donot know why we are doing something like tying Rakhri's then we need to do our research and get our facts right, before we offend our sisters.
