  1. I agree, but I find it hard to believe that Hindu government would pass such a bill.
  2. I can't stand the smell of dead carcasses as I walk around the supermarket. I try to hold my breath for as long as possible. Otherwise I will vomit. I don't know how people stand the smell. That alone should be enough to put anyone off.
  3. Kirpan comes from the word kirpa. It is to bring kirpa to those who are being persecuted for their beliefs. A Sikh is one who has overcome Lust, Anger, Greed, Attachment and Ego (5 evils).
  4. We should call Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Avtar Purab, Nankana Day. Then get Nankana day cards sent to everyone.
  5. Dear Sangat Ji, this video is one of my favourite simran videos. Although all Simran is the same, some prefer AKJ simran, or slow simran, there are different styles. I really like the simran performed by Bhai Gurpreet Singh Shimla Wale in this video. Please post your favourite simran videos or MP3 links, so we will have the joy of meditating upon Waheguru Ji's name. Also could the administrators please pin this post so that videos or links of Naam Simran are on always on the top.
  6. I am proud to be a British Sikh. As a British Sikh I feel that I have more freedom to express my faith in Britain than in India. Also I have Panjabi heritage not Indian. My mother tongue is Panjabi not Hindi. My diet is mostly Panjabi food, so therefore I prefer to classify myself as a British Panjabi. Furthermore I feel an attachment to the whole of Panjab including West Panjab which is where Nankana Sahib and Lahore (previous centre of the Sikh Empire) both are.
  7. Just to note, if anyone is unsure as to whether Guru Ji can behead someone and then re-attach their head, then they should read the sakhi of Samman and Musan. There is a shabad in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji call Funhey. In this sakhi Guru Arjan Dev Ji re-attached a head that was chopped off by someone else let alone Guru Ji himself. Also One should note the shabad: SATGUR MERA MAAR JIVALEY (MY TRUE GURU CAN TAKE AND RE-GIVE LIFE). Guru Ji is the same entity as Waheguru. So there should also be no doubt that Guru Ji beheaded the Punj piyare. If you google "eye witness to vaisakhi 1699" you will find a previous post on this forum which mentions that there was no tent and that Guru Ji beheaded the 5 piyare and medically reattached their heads.
  8. The greatest insult is that they read Gurbani incorrectly which gives the wrong meaning. If they read Gurbani correctly they would become Sikhs and fall in love with Guru Ji. Isa means Iswar in other words Waheguru NOT Jesus. Jesus called himself the light of the world, the son of God. This is ego and anyone who believes in and worships Jesus instead of God/Waheguru will fall into the pit of hell. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji maharaj said that those who call themselves God shall fall into the pit of hell.
  9. Video of Harmandir Sahib Hazoori Ragi Performing Kirtan in Front of Idols Surfaces OnlineBy: Sikh24 Editors ACCRA, GHANA (November 26, 2013)—A video has surfaced online showing Hazoori Ragi Bhai Sarbjeet Singh “Laddi” doing kirtan at a temple in front of Hindu idols. The temple also includes parkash of Guru Granth Sahib Ji—against Sikh traditions—and the idols are clearly visible. As per unconfirmed information received by Sikh24, the recording is from the Sindhi Temple located in Accra, Ghana. Sindhis are followers of the Hindu religion however they have respect for the Sikh religion, especially the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. They often do parkash of Guru Granth Sahib, however this practice goes against the teachings of the Sikh faith, which is against idols. In the the video that has surfaced online, Bhai Sarabjeet Singh is doing kirtan of “aarti” in which such practices are shunned. Bhai Sarabjeet Singh’s actions could possibly lead him in to trouble with the Akal Takhat Sahib and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee which have in the past asked Ragi Jathas to not do seva at places where idols are placed.
  10. Not working for me as well. I can see Shabads but can't play them.
  11. It is very cunning using Sikhi to spread christianity. Rainsabhai needs to be done at every church to spread the true Guru Granth Sahib Ji's message. This is why it is good to read scriptures of other faiths so you can spread the truth of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. I have seen their website it contains some basic information on Sikhi. But calling Jesus Sat Guru Yeshu is strange and wrong. Also they try to use lines from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to justify christianity. If they did more research into Sikhi then they would beocme Sikhs. I feel that the problem is that we are too few in number. These organisations have large followings internationally and probably have very wealthy backers. Basically there are more christians. But I am not worried because I have full faith in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
  12. Naamdharis are NOT SIKHS. Namdharis are Namdharis. if they were Sikhs then they would call themselves Sikhs. Namdharis are are different religion/organisation just like Ravidasia, Radhasoami, Nirankari, Jain, Jew, Hindu, Islam, Christianity, Budhism etc.... They do NOT beleive Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj as their true Satguru. As stipulated in the Sikh Rehat Maryada from Sri Akal Takht Sahib a Sikh is one who beleives in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as their Guru. Therefore Sri Akal Thakht Sahib Hukamnamas shouldn't apply to Namdharis as they are NOT Sikhs.
  13. I haven't seen the show with Naamdharis on it but, according to Sikh Rehat Maryada: The Definition of Sikh : Article I Any human being who faithfully believes in i. One Immortal Being, ii. Ten Gurus, from Guru Nanak Sahib to Guru Gobind Singh Sahib, iii. The Guru Granth Sahib, iv. The utterances and teachings of the ten Gurus and v. the baptism bequeathed by the tenth Guru, and who does not owe allegiance to any other religion, is a Sikh These people be it Naamdharis, Radhasoamis, Nirankaris, Ravidasia or anyone else who doesn't fit the definition of a Sikh according to the Sikh Rehat Maryada are not Sikhs. They are of a different religion/organisation. I have no problem with a Naamdhari being given air time just as if a Muslim, Hindu or Christian being given air time. These types of discussions allow people to make up their own minds and show how pakhandi they are. Sangat Tv should have a disclaimer that these views of Naamdharis do not represent Sangat Tv or the Sikh Community.
  14. From the description it seems that such a person is not really happy. They are sad inside and have ego instead of true love. True everlasting love is to love the everlasting. So if he cannot or is unwilling to remember and love Waheguru then his bliss that he feels now will eventually end. Only through remembering and loving Waheguru can bliss last forever. Waheguru in his infinite wisdom has given us choices so choose wisely.
  15. Same, Happy Bandi Chhor Divas to everyone. This day reminds us of liberation and that Guru Ji is the true liberator.
  16. Imagine you are reading a book and all that is written is Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguru infinite times. So you are reading Waheguru and keep reading.
  17. This ban is stupid, because Allah was spoken before Islam. Even Jesus apparently said Allah.
  18. This is a thread about 'animal sacrifices', so why are people talking about eating jhatka meat or eating veggies? As for animal sacrifices: I would like to know to whom do the animals get sacrificed? because Waheguru doesn't need it & Sikhi beleives in one Waheguru not 330 million Devte. Gurbani tells us to sacrifice ouselves (hao man arpi, sabh tan arpi), thus showing full devotion to Waheguru.
