  2. This is stupid. Guru Ji tells us to worship the creator NOT the creation. Krishna was a creation therefore should not be worshiped. Yes Krishna is a name attributed to the creator, just as Allah, Ram, Vaheguru, God etc... the list is endless. All these depictions of gods/goddesses are of creations. The creator is formless and has no image. Tell this to the Hare Krishna guys who are worshiping false blue guy and going straight into re-incarnation.
  3. Show them the Sikh Rehat Maryada which all Sikhs should be following. A SIKH DOESN'T WORSHIP IDOLS. Anyone who does can't call themselves a Sikh. A Sikh follows Guru Granth Sahib as their Guru and worships VAHEGURU AND VAHEGURU ALONE. Its that simple.
  4. If you go digging for gold you may strike gold with you first dig or you may have to dig 10 feet or 100 feet. We are all different. Remember Vaheguru is inside you. Just listen to your own void when doing simran.
  5. Do not want anything when doing Naam Simran. If you do want/ask for something then ask for LOVE nothing else. Simply do Simran out of love and devotion to Vaheguru. Vaheguru Ji's language is LOVE. Understanding Jap Ji Sahib was the key for me. Jap Ji Sahib tells us what/who Vaheguru is and the exact way to connect with Vaheguru.
  6. Looks like the safest way to avoid such problems is to follow bibek lifestyle.
  7. If you look at the highlighted lines in black you will notice that where it is written in current swaroops: Sochai Soche Na Hovei In this swaroop it is written" Sochai Soche Ne Hovei. There is a sihari on the N. This looks to be a fake because Ne doesn't make sense unless I am mistaken and Ne means something which I am unaware of.
  8. My beard is long so I tie it up when I have to. As for trim I could never do that. Just say Vaheguru when you think of trimming your beard and let him take care of you.
  9. You can't be born a Sikh. To say one is born a Sikh would be the same as saying Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born a Hindu which is just plain wrong. One is a Sikh by following Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji's hukam. Also you can't have more children than Vaheguru will allow you to have.
  10. WJKK WJKF. Just a point to add, all the suggestions are very good. I am in the UK and I don't know about US hospitals but, Me and my wife are both Amritdhari and I also took into the delivery with me a small sarbloh bata and patase. When my son was born the mid wife cleaned him, wrapped him in a towel and placed him in the incubator. I filled the bata with warm water ane put in 5 patase. Then I took out my kirpan, which I also rinsed under warm water, got into bir ras position and stirred the patase in the bata whilst reciting Jap Ji Sahib at the same time. Once Jap Ji Sahib was complete i did ardas and I put 5 drops of the Amrit from the tip of the kirpan into my boys mouth. I gave the rest of the prepared Amrit to my wife. Only then did my wife give him his first feed. This is called janam sanskar and is found in taksaal maryada. I was taught about this in gurmat class when I was growing up. Hope this helps also. 11. All of these problems should be taken up with Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
  12. Leamington Spa, UK (March 5, 2014)—Gurdwara Sahib Leamington & Warwick has once again hit headlines for all the wrong reasons. The Sikh Cultural and Sports Community Centre Committee and the Trustees of Gurdwara Sahib have now submitted a proposal to the local Warwick District Council for a bar, thus defying the basic teachings of Sikhi and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as well as the supreme authority of Sikhs, the Akal Takht Sahib. Plans have been submitted for a bar, which will be open 7 days a week, to be constructed on the Gurdwara Sahib Complex, land which is owned by the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. On the 4th of February 2014, Satnam Bains, Chair of Sikh Cultural and Sports Community Centre Committee (located on Gurdwara Sahib Complex), submitted an application to Warwick District Council outlining planning permission for a proposed new Sikh Community Centre (planning application reference no: W/14/0164). The local Sikh Community felt extremely angry and betrayed as assurances were given at an open meeting by the Chief Trustee of Gurdwara Sahib, Jaswant Virdee, and the Chair of Sikh Community Centre, Satnam Bains, that all rumours relating to the consumption of meat and alcohol on the Gurdwara Sahib Complex were not true. Evidence has now come to light that these individuals and their supporters have not only deceived the local sangat but have also shown the utmost disrespect to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by continuously misleading the congregation from the Gurdwara stage in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This planning application has brought the local and entire Sikh community into disrepute. An even greater shock is that the Gurdwara Sahib Committee are fully supporting the planning application. Shalbinder Malle, current General Secretary of Gurdwara Sahib, has also continuously misled the congregation and supported this application from the beginning. Even more confusing and baffling is that Shalbinder Malle, Mota Singh, Balraj Dhesi, and the Chief Trustee Jaswant Virdee recently went live on a national Sikh TV Channel to promise that there would be NO Meat or Alcohol on the Gurdwara Sahib Complex. Furthermore, the application is being fully supported by local Councillor Balwinder Gill: “I support this application as a ward councillor. As there is a need for this sort of facility for community function. There is no other one in the town. People have to book in Coventry or Solihull and most of them are very expensive.” Sandesh (Order) Issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib Any form of intoxicants (alcohol, drugs etc.) and preparation or consumption of foods such as meat, fish and eggs are not permitted on Gurdwara property. Buildings bought or constructed using the Daswand of the Sikh Sangat or Gurdwara donations are solely to be used to be used for Gurmat purposes and the betterment of society. There is no permission granted for dancing and singing or any acts which go against the principles of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The Sikh Community Centre planning application (W/14/0164) can be found at: http://planningdocuments.warwickdc.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=_WARWI_DCAPR_69886 Extracts from the supporting planning documents: Page 4 of the ‘Design and Access Statement’The spaces for social activities need to be located as far from the temple as possible for religious reasons; A sports hall for 5 aside football, badminton, indoor cricket and fitness with associated changing rooms and equipment store. This space will double as banqueting space for weddings. Page 12 & 26 of the ‘Transport Assessment Report’The auditorium would also have a small bar that would be open during events and also from 7.00pm each evening for the community.Page 9 of the ‘Transport Assessment Report’The main function for the community centre is to provide a venue for a multi-purpose sports hall that can host wedding receptions;Currently, wedding parties hold the religious service in the temple then travel to an off-site venue for the wedding reception and party. It is the intention for the developers to create a reception venue in close proximity to the temple so wedding parties can simply walk from one venue to the other. The local and wider Sikh Community, need to ask the question why, and hold these community leaders to account for their actions. If anyone would like to discuss the planned proposals with the respective leaders, details can be found below: Jaswant Virdee, Gurdwara Chief Trustee Tel: 01926 311734 / 07881 771098 Shalbinder Malle, Gurdwara General Secretary Tel: 07956 819911 Satnam Bains, Chairman of Sikh Cultural & Sports Comm. 13. A complaint should be made to Sikh Channel. Also has anyone ever heard a Bhangra song that states another caste other than jatt?
  14. I've requested to join Pakistan Sikh forum but the other one I can only like there isn't a join button
  15. My point was that if you do have any sexual desires it is best in the confines of a marriage. Eg I am amritdhari so is my wife we both love each other very much. We both do simran and path together, anything sexual I/we want to do we do together as a couple. We have never had any sexual relations with anyone else only with each other as husband and wife. This is part of gristhi jeevan. We are human we do have desires but we cannot let these desires control our lives. This is where gristhi jeevan comes in (desire in moderation). Sikhi marriage puts naam simran and gurbani at the centre of married life. All other desires and wishes come second. Guru comes first. I don't know what more to write to explain what I meant. So I hope this helps. I am glad you have overcome your problems. May WAHEGURU bless you with naam. Bhul chuk maaf.
  16. You should be able to find it on searchgurbani.com under Sri Dasam Granth heading and search for any line.
  17. From doing kirtan you will do naam simran. Gurbani will tell u to so naam simran. So keep doing both.
  18. My point was that as amritdharis we should know how to use the kirpan given to us by Guru Ji and Gatka came to mind because it is connected to sikhi. If there is another Sikhi way to use the kirpan then please share. As for non armed combat for Sikhs, I have heard of hathka. Also as amritdharis we should never be unarmed with some very strict exceptions such as going on an airplane.
  19. I don't see how this represents 100 years of the arrival of Sikhs to Kenya. Can someone point it out?
  20. Waheguru is everything. We must remember our purpose of being here. It is to merge with Waheguru. This is done with Naam Simran, reading Gurbani, doing Kirtan and Seva etc... Then the 10th Gate will open and you shall be free from reincarnation. Gurbani is talking about Babur, but how about all the other people who do/did bad things such as: Hitler, Mussolini, Saddam Hussein, Ivan the terrible, Osama Bin Laden, etc.... How much terror did they bring? Waheguru let it happen also, therefore you can say whenever there is a war that does God care? Gurbani tells us that Waheguru is love and that he has started the process call the universe. In this process everything is happening, i.e. Birth, Living and Death. There are wars amongst animals and plants over territory or a mate. If we dwell on these worldly things then we miss our purpose of being here. In the shabad you mention, Guru Nanak Dev Ji is retelling history and explains that yes Waheguru watched over these terrible events, BUT you MUST always read the last lines to get the message because in the end of the shabad Guru Nanak Dev Ji is telling us just as he tells us in almost every shabad that: We must let go of our Ego whilst we are alive then Wheguru Ji's name can grow and blossom inside you.
