  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sher_Ali_Khan It's not Mahraja Ranjit Singh, but Sher Ali Khan, Emir of Afghanistan. But to the bottom left, sitting on chairs are the Sikh Maharaja's of Patiala, Nabha, Kapurthala and Jind.
  2. Here are some photo's of the Gaj-Gah of Guru Gobind Singh Jee that is preserved at Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib, it's quite big. So assuming that Guru Sahib would have worn it in a matter that it would have been secure on his dastaar, his dastaar would have been pretty big. I've included a pic of a Nihang Singh with a similiar size Gaj-Gah for a reference. Also here's some pics of the Kalgi and pearl necklace of Guru Gobind Singh Jee's that's also preserved at Hazoor Sahib. And a pic of the dastaar of Guru Hargobind Sahib Jee's, which is 24 yards/20 metres/60 feet. So one can just assume that the dastaars worn by the Guru Sahib's must have been bigger/longer than is usually portrayed in paintings. As well there is an account in a Mughal record of the time describing Guru Gobind Singh Jee with an 18" tall dastaar, dressed in regal attire.
  3. The shaheedi of the Sahib Jadey as well as all the shaheeds of the battle of Chamkaur, 40 Muktay shaheedi divas, Avtarpurb of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee (depending on the calendar you follow), I'm sure there's other events in Decemeber as well.

The following lines are from Chandi Chritar from Dasam Granth Sahib. All the gods gathered and sang this Eulogy in praise of Kaalika (Chandi), "Oh Universal mother, Thou hast effaced a very great sin; ਦੈਤਨ ਕੋ ਮਾਰ ਰਾਜ ਦੀਨੋ ਤੈ ਸੁਰੇਸ ਹੂੰ ਕੋ ਬਡੋ ਜਸੁ ਲੀਨੋ ਜਗਿ ਤੇਰੋ ਈ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੁ ਹੈ ॥ Thou hast bestowed on Indra the kingdom of heaven by killing the demons, Thou hast earned great repulations and Thy glory hath spread in the world. ਦੇਤ ਹੈ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿਜ ਰਾਜ ਰਿਖਿ ਬਾਰਿ ਬਾਰਿ ਤਹਾ ਹੀ ਪੜਿੳ ਹੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਉਚ ਹੂੰ ਕੋ ਜਾਪ ਹੈ ॥ All the sages, spiritual as well as royal, bless Thee again and again, they have revited there the mantra, Braham Kavach (the spiritual coat of mail). ਐਸੇ ਜਸੁ ਪੂਰ ਰਹਿਉ ਚੰਡਿਕਾ ਕੋ ਤੀਨ ਲੋਕ ਜੈਸੇ ਧਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ਮੈ ਗੰਗਾ ਜੀ ਕੋ ਆਪੁ ਹੈ ॥ The praise of Chandika (Chandi) pervades thus in all the three worlds like the merging of the pure water of the Ganges in the current of the ocean.
  5. It must have been someone who was put in charge by the British, because before that Jathedar Akaali Baba Hanumaan Singh Jee was the Jathedar of Akaal Takht Sahib Jee, and before him Jathedar Akaali Baba Phoola Singh Jee was the Jathedar of Akaal Takht. After Maharaaja Ranjeet Singh Jee died, alot of drama happened in the Sikh Kingdom and the Dogra's were in conspiracy with the British to over throw the Sikh Kingdom. Akaali Baba Hanumaan Singh Jee and the Khaalsa army fought against the traitors and British army, and all the surviving Nihang Singhs took refuge at Hazoor Sahib. The British took over all the royal administration of the Sikh Kingdom, so anything that was managed by Maharaaja Ranjeet Singh were then taken over by the British. During the time of Maharaaja Ranjeet Singh, the Lahore Darbar oversaw the running of Darbar Sahib and other Gurdwara's. Because of this the British were able to put in power, people of their own choosing. During the times of Maharaaja Ranjeet Singh Jee, Akaal Takht Jathedar was Akaali Phoola Singh Jee, who was also Jathedar of Budha Dal and head granthi of Harimandir Sahib was Baba Sant Singh, Jathedar of Damdami Taksaal. for more info on the Sikhs fighting the British check out this article http://www.nihangsingh.org/blog/?p=200
  6. Ah Singh that sucks, it was probably one of the best sites on Sikhi. Can you atleast leave it so that we can view your old posts, regardless if you update it or not ??. There's too much valuable info on there.
  7. Singho Here's a picture of a Nihang Singh who was a part of the British army, and has incorperated many Akaali emblems into his dastaar. Also he has medals of honour, so he must have been a very brave man.
  8. I would say you go to Rakba, Ludhiana and see the Jathedar of Budha Dal Jathedar Baba Joginder Singh Jee, go to Baba Bakala and see Jathedar of Tarna Dal Baba Makhan Singh Jee, go to Harian Vela in Hoshiarpur and see Jathedar Baba Nihaal Singh Jee. Bhai Sahib Bhai Jeevan Singh Jee lives in Amritsar near Darbar Sahib. Also you should check out Sur Singh and visit Baba Daya Singh Jee and Baba Avtaar Singh Jee Baba Bidhi Chand Dal.

  11. WAHEGURU JEE KAA KHAALSA WAHEGURU JEE KEE FATEH In my personal opinion,go with Full Vail dastaar material,it's the best.Wash it a couple times, use fabric softner, then you will be able to tie a nice comfortable dastaar. I have some of that F-74 material, and it is way too soft for my liking. The laars just didn't come out right, and if you want to tie a decent size dumalla, then the F-74 material won't do the job,in my opinion,it my be good for small dumalla's I don't know though. Also Rubia material is good, but there is some material called Terry Rubia which is too silky,it can slip off your head too easily. As for size, for my dumalla I use a joora wala keski that is about 10-12 feet, then another keski that is about 20 feet,7 laars then the actual dumalla is about 30 feet (8 metres),and I get 10 laars. Hope that was of some help?? WAHEGURU JEE KAA KHAALSA WAHEGURU JEE KEE FATEH
  12. WAHEGURUJEEKAAKHAALSA WAHEGURUJEEKEEFATEH Very amazing article.I have seen Giani Narinder Singh Jee around, very Charhdi Kalaa Singh. WAHEGURUJEEKAAKHAALSA WAHEGURUJEEKEEFATEHHHHHHHHHHH
  13. WAHEGURUJEEKAAKHAALSA WAHEGURUJEEKEEFATEHHHH Great Seva, thank you so much. I was checking out the Dasam Granth section, and I noticed in some of the Bani's the translation and the tranliteration are overlaping each other when used in the Powerpoint mode,so you can not make out what is written.Maybe my powerpoint settings are not correct??? any advice?. Thanks WAHEGURUJEEKAAKHAALSA WAHEGURUJEEKEEFATEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  14. WAHEGURUJEEKAAKHAALSA WAHEGURUJEEKEEFATEH There is actually 25 million Sikhs worldwide. The break up being,16 million in Punjab, another 4 million through out the rest of India, and 5 million in the rest of the world. Not too sure if you have even seen the video of Sarbat Khaalsa?? anyways if you haven't seen it check it out on www.saintsoldiers.net go to the video section and you will see Sarbat Khalsa 1986. You can clearly see that there is atleast Sangat 2 million deep. WAHEGURUJEEKAAKHAALSA WAHEGURUJEEKEEFATEH
  15. WAHEGURUJEEKAAKHAALSA WAHEGURUJEEKEEFATEH If we watch the Sarbat Khaalsa video from 1986,we can see that there is a couple million Sikhs there. How can we ever doubt or question the declaration of the Sarbat Khaalsa?? this Sarbat Khaalsa would have actually been double the size, but the Delhi Sarkar blocked the roads and railways to and from Punjab. They had blockades set up on all roads leading to Amritsar, and Sangat was actually detained or forced to go back. We have to remember also,at this Sarbat Khaalsa meeting, the Panth tore down the Sarkari Akaal Takht and rebuilt it by Kar Seva of the Guru's Khaalsa. I am not too sure if this is from Gurbani or Bhai Gurdaas Jee's varaan, please forgive me if I have quoted wrongly, but there is a line that goes along the lines of this: Where this is one Sikh, that place is considered holy, where there is two Sikhs, there is Saadh Sangat, where there are five Sikhs present, consider the Guru to be there. So just imagine the Sarbat Khaalsa with millions of Gursikhs present. Also Sangat spotted a White Baaj (hawk) flying in the air around Darbar Sahib, which is a sign that the Guru was blessing and approving of the actions of the Khaalsa. Forgive my mistakes. WAHEGURUJEEKAAKHAALSA WAHEGURUJEEKEEFATEH
  16. WaheGuruJeeKaaKhaalsa WaheGuruJeeKeeFateh Sangat Jee,does anyone know where we can find the rest of Pranth Prakash Translated?? Thanks Akaaall WaheGuruJeeKaaKhaalsa WaheGuruJeeKeeFateh
  17. WAHEGURUJEEKAAKHAALSA WAHEGURUJEEKEEFATEH During the period when this painting was made, the Naamdhari's were actually true Gursikhs of the Panth. They stood up against the British and fought for independence. They also were very Rehitvaan Gursikhs who stood true to the ideals and teachings of Das Guru Sahiban Jee's and Sree Guru Granth Sahib Jee. Many Naamdhari's became Shaheed during British rule, actually 49 Naamdhari's were tied to cannons and blown away by the British. It was awhile after the death of Baba Raam Singh Jee who was the leader of the Naamdhari's,that they started to say that he was a Guru.Baba Raam Singh Jee is also mentioned in the Autobiography of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh Jee.Bhai Sahib mentions how he has upmost respect and love for Baba Raam Singh Jee,who did much service in the misson of freeing India of British rule. Also I think Bhai Randhir Singh Jee and Bhai Raam Singh Jee were in jail together for awhile, but I could be wrong. It is sad though how today Naamdhari's don't even listen to the message of their founder,Baba Raam Singh Jee,who only praised the 10 Sikh Guru's and Sree Guru Granth Sahib Jee.He was not looking to be a Guru,as he himself said that he in only a Sevak of the Guru. 24. WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Sadh Sangat Ji,this may really confuse people,But there was actually 3 Bhai Gurdaas Ji's. The first Bhai Gurdaas Ji was alive during Guru Arjan Dev Ji,and Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji's time.He is the most talked about Bhai Gurdaas Ji. Then there is 2 different Bhai Gurdaas Singhs' who were alive during Guru Gobind Singh Ji's time, and one of these Bhai Gurdaas' was the Gurmukh who wrote the Shabad "Waho Waho Gobind Singh,Aapey Gur Chela" Please forgive me for not going deeper into this topic,as It has been along time since I read about 3 Bhai Gurdaas Ji's,also I'm about to leave for work,so I cant really get into this topic.I will post later on with more info, and links to sites, where there is info on the 3 Bhai Gurdaas Ji's.
