  1. WJKK WJKFveer ji, it is only meat in which the Muslim will carry out Dhabiha, the halal slaughter method. Any other none meat item like veg is deemed halal as that it is permissible to use/consume. However in some products like make up, only an animals fat can be used which has undergone halal slaughter in order for it to be certified halal, but products like toothpaste for example have no prayer, just checks that non natural chemicals like alcohol have been added. Hence why for example, a sikh in Pakistan could consume the veg which is deemed halal however not the halal meat, as it has undergone Dhabiha. For a sikh, his/her hands used to grow/rear, harvest/hunt/jhatka, then cook an eat by their own hands is the best method if possible. In today's modern world it's hard to do this though as many of us live busy lives.
  2. WJKK WJKF The halal label on Kellogg's and foods like Bread states to Muslims that is permissible, meaning it can be consumed or used. Hence why Muslim women will use halal makeup. A sikh can consume such foods which are vegetarian which fall under halal, however a sikh cannot consume halal meat, if a sikh is to consume meat, it should be jhatka as stated my the Rehat Maryada and The Akal Takhat. The halal meat industry is undercover within the uk definitely. The majority of meat is Halal slaughtered and goes uncertified. While the E.U have brought new legislation in the uk for food outlets about stating allergens within every ingredient used, it fails to state whether or not an animal has gone through the halal slaughter method is most cases. Whether we are a jhatka eating sikh or a veg eating sikh, halal should be fought due to the treatment of the animal during slaughter, being simply killed with no compassion or dignity.
  3. WJKK WJKF It will probably be better if us OCI/NRI's realise that really we need to do something about our sikh history in India as the Indians are to busy with their own agendas. Just like how we plough money back into our pinds/cities/homes in Punjab/India improving the standard, maybe we should have an international pot to catalogue/repair our histories treasures....again this would then result in who to trust enough to handle the money? But out of the sikh coming up nowadays, I'm sure we could find someone.
  4. WJKK WJKF The buildings are simply bricks and mortar, the teaching is divine and outshines any man made structure. Maybe we could right on the sign of our gurdware something simple like non Muslim, sikh temple church building, everyone welcome, please come in to the gurdwara. Simple.
  5. WJKK WJKF The Akal Takht represents the final authority on controversial issues concerning the Sikh Panth, in this regard the issue of meat eating has been settled. Hukamnama issued by Akal Takht Jathedar Sandhu Singh Bhaura dated February 15th 1980 that Amritdhari Sikhs can eat meat as long as it is jhatka meat and that eating meat does not go against the code of conduct, Kurehit, of the Sikhs. Thus a Sikh cannot be excommunicated for eating meat. Anything consumed should be for the benefit of the tann and not for the taste, whether it be saag or a pheasant. However if a sikh is to eat meat, it should be hunted or killed by the sikh and all it's carcass used.
  6. WJKK WJKF Jagsaw Singh has stated all valid points on this topic. The thing is, the headlines in the news we receive will always be edited the way in which the government wants the world to view the situation. Just like the BBC and the coverage of 1984. The fact that some Sikhs view is that it's total wrong the way these people have acted is valid too, there were other roots before taking the sword however, we cannot stand on our high horse and act that we're so open to critism of Sikhi. As again, one sikh mentioned, we do not have any body act/voice over our guru sahiban. At the end of the day, yes Islam is the cause of many of the worlds problems at present. But as people on the street, we know it's not a clear cut story as we all think. When EDL protests were happening in my locality, the small Pakistani Muslim community and small sikh community both helped one another as both the mosque and gurdwara had been attacked. Day and night security was set up whilst the Muslims went to pray by the Sikhs and the Muslims guarded the gurdwara with the Sikhs during the protest. Whether we agree or disagree with many points on religion and ethics, respect on a personal, street level is another thing. The fact of the matter is, the majority of people still will think a sikh is a "p*ki" and Muslim. They do not know we're Sikhs and don't care. The Sikhs who fought in the world war have been forgotten by the west at best, as the gowvernment once again used the Sikhs. No documentary comes on prime time TV about Indias soldiers including Muslims. No rememerance takes the names if the nations and people who fought alongside them in counties up and down the uk. My point being, all brown people are known as rag heads and ultimately "p*ki". The west will not aknowledge their role in playing the terrorist. The French paper has no right in their radical constant p*ss take of what other people hold sacred. However other methods could have been used, in our own history, should shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh and Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh of maybe protested in striking from work, held protest rallies at side gov. offices? Why as Sikhs, do we then celebrate their judgement on the matter?
  7. WJKK WJKF Jagsaw Singh, spot on! It's easy for us Sikhs to say we would of reacted better, however it wasn't our prophet and if it was, I'm sure many a sikh would see red.
  8. WJKK WJKF I'm sure where ever anyone is critical about your jatt caste, you will be sure to have all your pro jatt spiel at the ready for the promotion of your jatt Sikhi caste, if there ever was such a thing!
  9. WJKK WJKF Rehat maryada states that we should have antim sanskar firstly via creamtion, however if not possible jal parwah is permitted. Many shaheed singh/singhnia were unable to be cremated in circumstances such as warfare. However some sikh believe that the body can come of use here by being recycled by the earth or being consumed by other animmal/fish after the atman has left. Maybe the reason why jal parwa method might be specifically chosen perhaps?
  10. WJKK WJKF Whether you believe in Sikhi or not, there is a universal truth and being, which is the creator. Science cannot explain everything as people are lead to believe. Irregards of any name or organised religion, the believe of waheguru should be within your own soul. If it is not...find it. No one can make you believe in Sikhi, only you can believe in Sikhi and waheguru. This is the very reason why we are here. Many "Sikhs" don't believe in the tenets of Sikhi themselves. In life, we all go through difficult times and it is in these times where you will either find the support of waheguru or not. This will be decided by your mind at the time. When one is happy with their standard of life, they don't need waheguru, one will only call upon satnam when their in need, it is only the believer who needs the name constantly, in happy and sad times. As it is your mind, which is your biggest hurdle, nothing else. I hope that you will find what we are all searching for in this life.
  11. WJLK WJKF That's great sikhia for your kids. Thankfully, I live in a rural part of England so I take my kids hunting quite often, I have some land too where we grow veg and rear some livestock. The outdoors is great for kids for learning, so many kids are just cooped up at home nowadays because of technology and the kaljug samma we live in. But keep up the good work!
  12. WJKK WJKF Couldn't of said it better myself, spot on Bhen ji!
  13. WJKK WJKF Bhen ji, it's great to hear your personal story, it sets a excellent example of sikhi being raceless. Unfortunately, if many of our own panjabi Sikhs understood that sikhi was also casteless, the panth would move forward quicker and more united. However as you see on this site, many so called Sikhs who declare their ancestry in pride act like their beacons of the faith at the same time indulging manmatt and living by their own personal maryada, yet in individual cases people like your father show what a true Gurmukh would do!

  15. WJKK WJKF Bhen ji, in the ideal world we wouldn't need to do so if all Sikhs followed the hukam of our dasmesh pita and educated and progressed both their shakti and bhagti and not just their Bhagti,
  16. WJKK WJKFThe "Brown man" being so caught up in western culture and fitting in, forgets his own religious tenets and calendar and is happy to play his part in full "integration" at the cost of his own religion, being more naive than the indigenous white man of the western country they live in. Just like how Sikhs were once so frightening at the eyes of the British as they were warriors of unseen abilities. Now most of us wear ornamental swords what we don't know how to use and are fat from eating aloo gobi crisps and fizzy pop.
  17. WJKK WJKF Happy new year to all sangat.
  18. WJKK WJKF Sooooo horrible what's going on there. Some Muslims wish to bring sharia law to the world, are these the justified horrors which sharia law brings in the eyes of these Muslims? Mahaan paap by so called religious people. These monsters will pay a heavy price, they believe in shaheedi and martyrdom yet they do not understand their physical death will be a celebration and only bring joy to the world and it's people that they are physically dead and cannot harm another innocent person wrongly in the name of Allah. Their souls will be tortured for the wrongs they have commited here and the martyrdom and shaheedi they think they will be awarded is nothing but a bribe by their imams and the notion of ISIS. They will suffer and then be reincarnated from point one!
  19. WJKK WJKF Yea that's true, but the same stands for many many sikh girls too, wearing dastaar...make up....eye brows trimmed....with the skin tight leggings and also the same for sikh men. I think what the big difference in sikhi and Islam is, is that there is equality for women and in Islam it is not as such.
  20. WJKK WJKF I don't think it's a simple as that, yes Tommy Robinson has raised many valid points however he never went round the right way to tackle some of the issues. The monster he created, the "EDL" has not achieved nothing other than a lager lout image which will shout abuse to anyone who is brown. I know this because I was present at a EDL demonstration and racist abuse was hurled at anyone with brown skin. The only reason why the EDL compliment Sikhs is because they believe we are well integrated within white, English society. The EDL wish to demonise all Muslims which can never be done as obviously all Muslims are not terrorists. It's always been the same with panjanbi Sikhs, when a white westerner compliments them, they jump to their side, even after India being robbed and raped by England, pledging their life's for the gains of England and the monarchy. A sikh should stand up for anyone who suffers injustice, that includes Muslims who are targets of abuse. In the end, we will always be a "paki" if we have brown skin with the new addition if "raghead" added on.
  21. Lol, it's the equivalent of a male sikh with no beard wearing a fake beard for an Amrit Sanchar?!
  22. WJKK WJKF The Sikhs who converted may well have in many instances been by force, however the Sikhs which converted as they did not want to lose their financial standing speaks for itself. Sikhs gave their life's for sikhi, Men, Women and Children during the gurus lifetimes and after. Some Sikhs should have remembered that in 1947. However anyone who converts out of sikhi to any other religion only insures me that the weaker links have been taken out of sikhi. In reference to the lady within this partition story, I have not come across her being forced to convert. Again if she converted, why convert back to sikhi and start another family? Then go back to meet the Muslim family. If she suffered forced conversion by the pariwar, why go back? Just leave it at a full stop.
  23. WJKK WJKFVeer ji, In the ardas, we pray to Akal purakh waheguru that "Sikhaa Daa Man Neevaa, Mat Uchee, Mat Pat Daa Raakhaa Aap Waheguroo" meaning "May the minds of all the Sikhs remain humble and their wisdom exalted; O God! Your are the protector of wisdom" What rehat do you live by?
