  1. Is it true that from naam simran during amritvela time that gives such a Sikh energy to go through the day even with lack of sleep. I've heard 1 hour of naam simran with full concetration = 7 hrs of sleep. Is this fact true or somewhat true? Of course Naam is source of food and energy but that's another talk.
  2. Bhai Jugraj did mention that we Sikhs should say all people are equal, but not all religions are equal. In sense, that other religions have some Truth but the complete Truthful teachings are in the GGS. Muslims should follow guidance that is given in the Guru Granth Sahib for them.
  3. Wow didn't know Sant Jarnail Singh Ji said that. I got that from Bhai Jugraj Singh.
  4. agreed. but I was talking about Punjab on who is really going to start effective parchar there
  5. where is effective parchar gonna come from? SGPC? They already have a parcharik committee and they can't do jack.
  6. The Gurus left one thing out of Guru Granth Sahib ji and that is falsehood!
  7. Sikhi isn't going anywhere. Khalsa is God's army. Those who will try to finish off Sikhi will be finished themselves before. History has shown it. Christian missionaries have tried this before in the late 1800's. They can try harder this time but will never succeed.
  8. Your post couldn't be any more clearer. We Sikhs literally wait till we are cornered until we actually get up and start doing something to revive our Panth. Sant Attar Singh Ji sent Teja Singh to America for a purpose to open gurdwaras here and get Sikhi going, but because he knew what would happen to Sikhs in Punjab. But just because he knew that doesn't mean us Sikhs living comfortable lives in the West can't start something parchar related in our areas. Khalsa aren't supposed to live long lives if you think about it. Many would join Sikhi in flocks if the Khalsa was doing what it is supposed to. We are supposed to be protecting people from all sorts of evil-doings. Instead we keep doing bani and naam japping comfortably in our homes and not spreading dharam parchar(like me). Guru Gobind Singh Ji himself said I've come into this world for Dharam Parchar. Our Gurus did parchar, why can't we? At the same time we have to work on our jeevan and let our lives be an inspiration for other Sikhs and non-Sikhs. Yes, different groups need to openly debate without cussing or giving death threats. This is how we will move on to Panthic unity, which is a must. We have had enemies making sure Sikhs stay divided because they sure do know what would happen if Sikhs did unite as one. Thirdly, I totally agree with you that the Western intellectual Sikhs have to put in a lot of work to turn Sikhi around. To me, I think it starts in the gurdwaras in the West. Old generation might not let youth run gurdwaras until they die, but i guarentee our youth know what the real panthic problems are. But let me tell you, as long as these old uncles don't let youth involve in doing parchar and not letting them on the committee, the more time is being wasted. I suggest Sikh youth to debate gurdwara committees and get them cornered for what really is the purpose of a gurdwara? Gurdwara reformation must happen where Parchar is the number one mission to give knowledge to sangat and outsiders and spread Guru's wisdom with others. Especially there are many chardi kala Sikhs out there who are keeping such spiritual wisdom with themselves, that we have to plea to them come out and do some parchar for the good of the Panth. Lastly, It really goes down to those Sikhs in Punjab to really wake up and start a movement. Hunger Strikes haven't achieved nothing. There are so many anti-Panthic forces that its pretty sad and on top of that deras have brainwashed Sikhs here and there.
  9. The question is does the Panth agree Kundalini yoga is fine? I mean being a Sikh, Yogi Bhajan should of stick with concept of naam simran but why did he preach kundalini yoga? I don't seem to understand quite the reason.
  10. A Tale of Changing Faiths: Amritsar, Punjab: Majha region of North Punjab (India) is a traditional Sikh-Akali belt. It has the history of protecting Sikhism and Harimandir Sahib from the onslaughts of the invading traders. Sikhs under Baba Gurbakash Singh, Baba Deep Singh and Baba Naudh Singh are known to have laid down their lives along with their fellow Sikhs showing heroic deeds against the invaders on Sri Harmandir Sahib. Every driver bows and stops at the Samadhi of Baba Naudh Singh on Amritsar-Tarantarn road. Bowing my head too, I pointed to S. Balwant Singh (name changed): Me: ‘This is the most revered place in my heart only next to Sri Harmandir Sahib since the Sikhs laid down their lives fighting to protect Sri Harmandir Sahib”. Balwant: “Should have been certainly so”; his half-hearted answer perplexed me. Me: I remarked, “You appear to be thinking otherwise!” Balwant: “No, No not so as you think, but it is not the same now” His reply was equally surprising. Me: “Why so?” Balwant: “The places of sacrifices of the martyred Sikhs have now been converted into money-spinners by Babas…. Seven Dera like gurdwaras have come up within these six-seven kilometres within a span of three-four years.” He said what he has been watching daily since all these Deras are very close to his Home. Me: “How come this sudden build up?” I was feeling quite hurt. Balwant: “Seeing one another benefitting, they sprang up. The most earnings are in Tahla Sahib. The most respected is the Dera Gillwali where even the most influential family of Punjab makes monthly visits, and people approach for getting their problems from administration solved.” His reply led me to further enquiry: Me: “Where is that Dera?” He explained: Balwant: “while coming from Sri Amritsar, you saw the widened double highway ending. The highway has been widened up to the place only where the VIPs have to come each month and not beyond.” Me: I was quite intrigued by this. “Is the political influence being used for such like things?”. Balwant: “Political influence ensures dominance of the ruling over the ruled.” Me:“But that is no Raj-Dharma. Where is the democracy?” He just laughed at my reply. Balwant: “Do you know how dominance is maintained?” questioned the advocate sitting close by. Me: “How” Balwant: “Using religion, using police, using drugs to decimate.” Me: “I do not think it could be so.” Balwant: “It is so. I am fighting cases against the police officials who have been carrying orders of their bosses to file false cases against certain individuals. Even a CBI inquiry is ordered against one SHO.” The advocate said. ‘Even the senior officers posted in this area are of Punjab cadre. Central cadre officers are not being posted as they tried to arrest the trend of fast flow of drugs in the area. They had to be posted at the behest of the local political leaders who maintain this free flow. Most of the youth are now in the grip of drugs.” Me: “Protecting crime? Leaders are supposed to get justice for the people and not to subdue them. Why do the people select them” I was rather vociferous. Balwant: “Yes! They protect crime and suppress opposition. Keep the people ignorant and help Deras to develop their influence.” He was clear in his answer. “How come they protect and suppress opposition?” I wanted to know. Balwant: “In this area drugs and local brand of liquor is a lucrative business. It is all flourishing under the patronage of local political leaders. You would have seen a story on Aaj Tak recently where large scale liquor distillation was going under the nose and knowledge of the local MLA. The SHO was helpless since he was refrained from taking any action against these criminals. As was said earlier, those who oppose these leaders are found behind the bars even on false cases. Even it is in the knowledge of the High Court that these false cases are being filed often. Most dastardly cases are of peddling drugs which are generally leveled against the most serious opponent and specially the political opponents. People are put behind bars and no one is allowed to help them. This is the same area where maximum eliminations in fake encounters took place during the militancy days. People have started taking injustice as their fate.” It was quite shocking. To clarify further, I questioned: Me:“What is the effect of the Deras?” Balwant: “Deras lure the ignorant and fill the coffer. Instead of teaching Sikhism, they propagate personality cult, showing Dera heads as supreme. They also propagate Hindu ritualism like breaking coco-nuts and tying red thread (molly). Frankly, they have damaged the Sikhism beyond redemption.” Me: ‘Beyond redemption! What do you mean?’” Balwant: Pointing to his servant he said: “This boy has become Chrisitian recently. Do you know why when his father is Nihang?” Me: “Christian? How is it?” I enquired. I wanted to know from the person direct. I called the boy, named Nima (name changed) and questioned, Me: “Are you a convert to Christianity?” Nima: “Yes!” He reluctantly said. However he came out slowly since he had been listening to us intently and knew the base of the discussion.” “Not me alone. Most of the poor and the unemployed youth are becoming Christians. Most of the youth got their hair cut already and have become apostate. Public in general have curtailed going to Gurdwaras and even deras now as they know their truth. They find new Churches as the better places to go. All aound these deras we have new churches: Varpal, Nikka Chabba, Balachak; all these villages are having new churches within these 6-7 kilometres. A large Number of Churches sprung up recently in the entire border belt of Tarantaran and Gurdaspur areas and people are converting to Christianity en masse.” Me: “You said your father is a Nihang, a devout Sikh. Why did you convert to Christianity?” Nima: “Why? We are not inhuman as they treat us. They give us no favour. They give no jobs to us but still want us to obey them like slaves. Why should we. They want the youth be drugged and destroyed. They have no human life considerations. The pastors treat us very humanly and sympathetically. They treat us equal and as important as anyone else. They help us in need. You will soon seen most of the downtrodden converting en masse if these leaders and dera people go on treating us like this.” I was shocked at the anger the boy had against the higher castes, deras and the ruling combine. More shocking was the trend of conversions. I could not sleep well in the night and was woken up by the blaring of the speakers at about 3 AM from 3-4 deras cum gurdwaras. Amidst them I could listen to the sound “Ameen” from pastor of the church nearby and thought of Giani Gurdit Singh, Gurmukh Singh and Jawahar Singh of the Singh Sabha Movement at the conversion of four Sikh Youth. The number now has become so large now without any of Gurdit Singh’s standing up now! As I was being shown those seven Dera type gurdwaras, finding heaps of Coconuts around, I felt that it certainly needs a “Sikh Sudhar movement” or “Sikhi Bachao Lehar’ to save the new generation from going astray.
  11. Who is behind Pal Singh Purewal’s Nanakshahi Calendar Amritsar, Punjab: IHRO Team comprising Prof Anurag Singh, Advocates Khuswinder Singh Grewal and Anmol Singh Grewal, along with DS Gill, after hectic effects, research and documentation, today, completed IHRO Report, with an Observation: “How the Ecclesiastical Court of Akal Takhat was managed is not difficult to comprehend. Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti and Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh are possessed souls under the influence of Purewal, and are still in his favour even after worldwide exposer of Purewal’s game-plan. In legal lexicon, it is called- ‘Quid pro Quo’ (something for something, in Latin)- DS Gill Chair IHRO Forces Behind PurewalPurewal’s JANTRI 500 YEARS was published during the tenure of Chief Minister Beant Singh by Punjab School Education Board in November 1994 against norms of the Board. The revised version of it is still to be published even after a lapse of 20 years. Four months later ( March 28-30,1995), Purewal is shown present by proxy in Punjab History Conference Proceedings (27th Session),held at Punjabi University Patiala during the tenure of Dr Joginder Singh Puar. It is patent from the Resume of the proceedings (pp.317-319) that Purewal did not attend the proceedings and his name is not mentioned in the Resume. But in spite of his absence from the proceedings, his following four papers were published against all established procedure of the university: Problem of Date Conversion in Sikh History (pp.261-269); The Date of Founding of Akal Takhat Sahib (pp.283-284); The Changing Vaisakhi Date in Common Era and Proposed New Calendar for Khalsa Samvat (pp.285-289); Birth Date of Guru Nanak Dev Ji (pp.306-311). Never in the 45 years history of Punjab History Conferences one scholar is allowed to read/present four papers in one Section. This privilege was granted to Purewal for the first and last time. It was also for the first and last time that four papers of a unknown writer were included without his attending the Conference. Again this special privilege was granted to Purewal. Now it is upon the university authority to reveal that (i) who invited a unknown writer Purewal in the conference and what were theconsiderations for such privileges? If he was invited and attended the proceedings, then whorecommended his name. If he attended the proceedings, then as per norms what were the comments of eminent historians, Dr J.S. Grewal, Dr S.S. Bal, Dr Kirpal Singh and other historians on these papers and Purewal’s replies. After this introduction of Purewal to the literary world in a unique manner, Institute of Sikh Studies, Chandigarh took over the charge of the game plan of Purewal, duly patronized by the Government to create confusion among the Sikhs on their Gurpurbs, the only source of unity among the Sikhs, in which they succeeded. The SGPC never passed any Resolution to authorize Purewal to prepare the so-called Nanakshahi Calendar; it was given to the SGPC through Dr Kharak Singh Ji. Before this misadventure, Institute of Sikh Studies (IOSS) also had favored the Kala Afghana lobby, Bhasauria lobby by giving rejection slips to Dasam Granth, Bhagat Bani, Bhatt Bani in their books and Journal. To promote Purewal’s dangerous game-plan, the writers associated with the Institute (Dr Kirpal Singh, Dr Balwant Singh Dhillon, Surjit Singh Gandhi, Dr Darshan Singh, Dr Dalbir Singh Dhillon …), started the propaganda in favour of this so-called Nanakshahi Calendar with all the resources at their disposal with perfidious lies wilfully and which were duly rebutted in writing by Prof Anurag Singh, Col Surjit Singh Nishan, Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Amritsar through Principal Santokh Singh, S. Maluk Singh, Damdami Taksal and host of other Sampardayas and organisations. Despite the fact that the Jathedars of two Takhats (Patna Sahib and Hazur Sahib) did not give their consent to the so-called Nanakshahi Calendar, the Institute of Sikh Studies, even before the release of this distorted and plagiarized Calendar, published the news in their Journal that the Calendar has been passed by the Clergy with minor changes (See the attached photo). As already established that this distorted Calendar is a carbon copy of Indian National Saka Calendar, it is also an infringement of Copy Right Act, and punishable with imprisonment and fine. It is surprising that this Hindu Calendar, issued in the sacred name of Guru Nanak as a emotional black-mailing tactics, was released on Baisakhi of 2003 by Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar, president SGPC, and Fakhar-i-Quam Parkash Singh Badal, now crowned as Padam Vibushan by President of India. 12. I feel like there Sikhs out there saying oh don't worry Kalki Avtar will come and sort of Sikh affairs or like Sikhs still waiting on a return of a Sant like Jarnail Singh. We really need to focus on the present and stop worrying about the future. Guru Gobind Singh Ji made us all leaders Talking about someone coming in the future to save us is sure an excuse to not do anything in the present. We will never be like Christians/Muslims waiting for Judgement Day and blah blah blah. Khalsa needs to start doing what our Guru Ji wanted us to do and be Tyar bar Tyar Sikhs. This is just the beginning of Kalyug...
  13. Wow you have one point- deep samadhi? Thats all. So just because they are in deep samadhi we shouldn't ignore the fact they are doing anti-gurmat ? That is total nonsense. In no way kundalini yoga is accepted in Sikhi. These 3ho followers follow Yogi Bhajan's footsteps who is already exposed by many even today's Gursikh named Gursant Singh who even wrote a book about his journey and coming across 3HO cult. They shouldn't be shamed and be vanished away from the Panth though, we really could educate them and bring them on the right path of Sikhi.
  14. Did the Guru's ever mention how long is kalyug?
  15. Akal Takht Jathedar videos oh man you really believe he worries about the Panth when he is a dog of Badal and hands of RSS. He is no panthic leader he played a part in stopping Gurbaksh Singh from visiting the Harmandar Sahib and kept quiet about it. Yogi Bhajan has been already exposed by Gursant Singh and their 3HO cult is up to no good When I mean they will be dealt is not that we should go punish them but rather we have to educate them and they will have to be told their anti-gurmat ways have to change because its simply not right and welcome them to the real path of Sikhi and gurmat ways. Especially it will be good because then they can spread the real Sikh teachings and not some other whateverso they are up to. Videos with titles Taliban Sikhs? Lol this video poster just want us to look bad...when in the video you posted of the man getting punishment on the street was because he did nindiya of one of our Gurus or something to GGS not sure but definitely did something bad. Of course though they don't describe the situation. The video of the woman gettng hit is bad but as bad as an illicit relationship and who is the Singh hitting him? I disagree with him hitting the woman but whats the whole story? Putting titles without explaining what is happening in the video and what the situation is about is just false propaganda to say these Singhs are extremists? That video of the Nihang getting slapped into his sense is because he was drunk. Do i see that as legimate reason to smack him to remind him who he is. Yes definitely. Does that make me a taliban Sikh? Back then, Akali Phoola ji as jathedar, would probably do the same thing. You are posting vids of Akal Takht Jathedar who after again and again is silent when it comes REAL panthic issues. Everyone knows what hes up too and what he really does for us and that is NOTHING. This Jathedar can't even do parchar to those Sikhs lost in fraud by Christian missionaries and Gharp Warsi program claims it brought 40 people back to Sikhi. Meanwhile, Jathedar tells us to have 4 kids lol.
  16. That could work, it really depends on the situation and how hostile it is.
  17. I didn't mean physically slap him lol I meant to make confront him on his issues and call him out on it and try to encourage him to quit it. I feel physically slapping him won't solve anything and can make things a lot worse. Reminding him of who he is and who he represents (Khalsa) can make him think twice before swearing again or maybe not...
  18. Leave the religious leaders confined to their religious duty? They aren't even doing that properly.... Yes, we should rely on religious leaders to move the Panth towards social justice but today is not the case. I do agree we need a social educated leader though.
  19. Exactly Sikh organizations are in a guddar in India who would rather stay silent in Panthic issues occurring today. It really gets on my nerves just thinking about us as Panth today and how we are being oppressed to an extent where a Gurbaksh Singh couldn't even go to Harmandar Sahib because of Akal Takht Jathedar and SGPC. Worse scenarios are so called Sikh councils/organizations outside of India that are taking bribes or remain quiet. If Sikhs get a good leadership in the future, it will be a day i will probably never thought would happen.
  20. True, but Darshan did let RSS activities occur during his post but this ex-jathedar stopped RSS activities from happening near his place and is speaking pretty bravely against Badal and SGPC and now he got the boot. It would be nice to see why he is on that stance and it seems because of the self-identity the Sikhs get that separates us from Bikram Calendar but again he should make a statement on why he supports Nanakshahi Calendar. Also all of a sudden though he is now speaking up though against the issue idk about his past.
  21. BARNALA, Punjab (January 20, 2015)—The former Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Balwant Singh Nandgarh, has replied to the suspension orders of executive body of SGPC by saying that every drop of his blood is dedicated to the principles of Sikhi. “Jathedari will be useless if the principles of Sikhi are ignored,” he said. He said that following Sikh principals is more important for him in comparison of defending a post. Jathedar said that he could have saved his post by remaining silent about the ongoing process of merging Sikhs into Hinduism by imposing the Bikrami Calendar, but he gave preference to following the Sikh principles. He expressed gladness that he is being suspended while fighting for the well being of the religion. He said that sacrificing one’s life for the Panth is a matter of honor for Gursikhs and along chain of Gursikhs have given this sacrifice. He said that he had only sacrificed his post. It is worth mentioning that Jathedar Nandgarh tried to convince the other Jathedars about speaking up in this case. I see hope in this Gursikh though even though he is on the stance on Nanakshahi Calendar he certainly is not afraid of speaking up. Shame on rest of Jathedars.
  22. Guru Nanak did give guidance to Muslims in GGS on how to be a True Muslim. They surely need to listen to Guru Nanak's bani.
