  1. This is similar to how in 1984, a large mob had attacked Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Chandni Chowk. You would think they would at least spare that Gurdwara.

No you forget that certain Hindu elements want the general population to forget what the Sikhs have done from the start ..they are trying to attack those places which shows history of Hindus Owing Sikhs bigtime to frame us as a band of offshoots from hinduism who are surplus to requirements ... into the fire comes to mind

  2. Waheguru ji ka khalsa

    Waheguru ji ki fateh

    Some useful links

    http://www.karamsar.co.uk/

    http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Singh_Sabha_Seven_Kings

    http://www.ggskcollege.co.uk/

Friendly advice - don't go around asking for Shudh Santhiya & Taksaal.

I read there was trouble between management of above Gurdwaras & some Taksali's over Santhiya classes.

Sensible people either take what is offered & improve later on or don't attend.

    Waheguru ji ka khalsa

    Waheguru ji ki fateh

Waheguru ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji Ki fateh,

I am a transplant to Ilford too, my personal experience is I made the mistake of sending my eldest at age 3 to GGSK college... he was bullied constantly by older students and also to some extent by his teacher because of his mixed background his father is European descent Brasilian and I myself Punjabi . I thought being a Sikh school with its own Gurudwara the kids would be more understanding of Keshadhari Sikhs thus my Son would remain confident in Khalsa roop but the truth is he was picked on constantly by the Mona sikhs and even had a knife pulled on him by a 13 year old and was told that if he told that boy would kill his parents, the staff tried to push the blame onto my kid that's when I took him out of there. I should never have taken him out of Montessori based schooling for that ...

Guru SIngh Sabha on Seven Kings High Road have a lot of sangat , many amritdhari families not sure of quality of classes etc but Karamsar GuruDwara has quite well advertised punjabi classes also they have Tanti Saaz lessons along with vocal training pricing is reasonable for quality of lessons

Mischief makers are trying to defame Karamsar (see above ) and the gurudwara has put a statement out on their Facebook page thus:

A video is going around (in fact, a few are) of Gurdwara Karamsar ILFORD, in which a group of Sikhs are being 'STOPPED' from doing Santhia. The videos are skewed and are being uploaded by an individual.

    FIRST POINT:

The group who attended this evening had begun santhia around 6 weeks ago, without gaining any permission from the Gurdwara management. They have been coming in and were since told not to continue, as there is no responsible individual who can be held accountable, if something were to happen. In addition, the group were told that there is santhia which occurs every Thursday, so it is not as if there is 'nothing for the sangat', as is being implied in the video. There is also Gurbani viakhia on Mondays, Weekly simran on Thursdays, along with Punjabi and Sikh History classes.

    SECOND POINT:

The darbar sahib was being shown to be locked. The 2nd floor darbar is usually locked for security reasons, and is opened when there is a programme (It is a spare hall). Again, such individuals were denied access but wanted to forcefully run their santhia. This group contains individuals from the Mata Sahib Kaur Academy (since closed), and they have been denied access at all the local Gurdwaras. The main darbar, on the 1st floor, was open and kirtan and katha carried on till half past 9!

    THIRD POINT:

There is no rule that the police officers couldn't wear their shoes and hats outside the darbar sahib. They did not wear shoes in darbar sahib. The police were called prior to this event, and they maintained a calm presence, only being there to prevent any violence. From observance, and by being a human being with eyes, I can see that some people only attended to increase the sangat numbers. Speaks for itself.

The Gurdwara trust has allowed many regular activities and events to occur, and as such it is my most favourite Gurdwara. Please keep an open mind when these videos come before you.

Waheugu Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

So my own view point having been there is this Gurudwara is truly trying to serve the sangats needs and providing programs and classes to promote sikhi in the youth. It is sad that where naam and bani is the focus people are attacking them because of their success in joingin the people to Waheguru and Sikhi.

  3. Extracts from Wikipedia that should raise alarms (make up your own minds!):

Caffeine is a bitter, white crystalline xanthine alkaloid and a stimulant drug. Caffeine is found in varying quantities in the seeds, leaves, and fruit of some plants, where it acts as a natural pesticide that paralyzes and kills certain insects feeding on the plants, as well as enhancing the reward memory of pollinators.

In humans, caffeine acts as a central nervous system stimulant, temporarily warding off drowsiness and restoring alertness. It is the world's most widely consumed psychoactive drug, but unlike many other psychoactive substances, it is legal and unregulated in nearly all parts of the world.

Caffeine overdose can result in a state of central nervous system over-stimulation called caffeine intoxication (DSM-IV 305.90).[44] This syndrome typically occurs only after ingestion of large amounts of caffeine, well over the amounts found in typical caffeinated beverages and caffeine tablets (e.g., more than 400–500 mg at a time). The symptoms of caffeine intoxication are comparable to the symptoms of overdoses of other stimulants: they may include restlessness, fidgeting, anxiety, excitement, insomnia, flushing of the face, increased urination, gastrointestinal disturbance, muscle twitching, a rambling flow of thought and speech, irritability, irregular or rapid heart beat, and psychomotor agitation.[56] In cases of much larger overdoses, mania, depression, lapses in judgment, disorientation, disinhibition, delusions, hallucinations, or psychosis may occur, and rhabdomyolysis (breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue) can be provoked.[57][58]

Extreme overdose can result in death.[59][60] The median lethal dose (LD50) given orally is 192 milligrams per kilogram in rats. The LD50 of caffeine in humans is dependent on individual sensitivity, but is estimated to be about 150 to 200 milligrams per kilogram of body mass or roughly 80 to 100 cups of coffee for an average adult.[61] Though achieving lethal dose of caffeine would be difficult with regular coffee, it is easier to reach high doses with caffeine pills, and the lethal dose can be lower in individuals whose ability to metabolize caffeine is impaired. Chronic liver disease is one factor that can slow the metabolism of caffeine.[62] There has been a reported death of a man who had liver cirrhosis overdosing on caffeinated mints.[63][64][65] Drugs such as fluvoxamine or levofloxacin can have a similar effect by blocking the liver enzyme responsible for the metabolism of caffeine, thus increasing the central effects and blood concentrations of caffeine five-fold.[58][59][60][66] The exact cause of death in such cases is uncertain, but may result from cardiac arrhythmia leading to cardiac arrest.

Treatment of severe caffeine intoxication is generally supportive, providing treatment of the immediate symptoms, but if the patient has very high serum levels of caffeine then peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, or hemofiltration may be required.[56]

    Addiction and tolerance
    Main article: Caffeine addiction

With repetitive use, physical dependence or addiction may occur. Also, some effects of caffeine, particularly the autonomic effects, decrease over time, a phenomenon known as a tolerance. Tolerance develops quickly to some (but not all) effects of caffeine, especially among heavy coffee and energy drink consumers.[67] Some coffee drinkers develop tolerance to its sleep-disrupting effects, but others apparently do not.[31]

    Withdrawal

Withdrawal symptoms – including headaches, irritability, inability to concentrate, drowsiness, insomnia, and pain in the stomach, upper body, and joints – may appear within 12 to 24 hours after discontinuation of caffeine intake, peak at roughly 48 hours, and usually last from 2 to 9 days.[68] Withdrawal headaches are experienced by 52% of people who stopped consuming caffeine for two days after an average of 235 mg caffeine per day prior to that.[69] In prolonged caffeine users, symptoms such as increased depression and anxiety, nausea, vomiting, physical pains and intense desire for caffeine are also reported. Peer knowledge, support and interaction may aid withdrawal.

Caffeine withdrawal is categorized as a mental disorder in the DSM-5 (the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual published by the American Psychiatric Association).[70] Previous versions of the manual included "caffeine intoxication" but not caffeine withdrawal.

In that case guys Chocolate is out too ... don't cry too much :biggrin2:

When I was expecting I couldn't take anything which contained caffeine this included the sweet drug Chocolate ... severe illness not matter which stage . My advice if you are stopping -taper down rather than going cold turkey as you can get really bad symptoms.

remember it is only a temporary boost to alertness the come-down is twice the tiredness

  4. yes maybe they should put one up for jimmy saville, rolfe harris etc they are weirdos / pedos like gandhi, the british are good at getting it wrong !!

Tory party is under scrutiny currently for 'losing' over 100 files relating to evidence gathered supporting allegations of predatory Paedophilia going on within the Tory party hierachy during the eighties (Thatcher era) , one would think they would do some homework before putting their foot in their mouths like this normally they are very conscientious of image ... opps methinks

  5. I think everyone should read this on facebook made by the very famous Gurnam Singh its got a load of heat

    • I support this cause. We need to recognise that, for any number of reasons, racists and extrimists exist in all communities, including the Sikh community. First and formost, the Sikhs need to develop and strengthen their own institutions and capability to identify, isolate and deal with a small but dangerous element who agressively display weapons with impunity. We need some kind of licensing system for the possession and use of weapons such as swords and spears.

I was shocked by his view and everyone else was on facebook

Theresa May probably is chasing the agenda of Indian Govt as Sikh Federation UK have opposed Gandhi statue and that has put a fly in the ointment for good 'relations' , Gurnam SIngh is being a fool playing into the Govt hands next they'll be rounding up Singhs who wear Bana and Shastars without reason, holding them under emergency terrorism laws.

Khalsa can sort out these hotheads by talking them down and around to a more calm way of getting justice for our girls or to stop Non-sikh activities in our gurdwarey. But it has to be a panthic effort.

  6. I disagree just because you manage to sit through a akhand path doesn't prove your ready for a sant sipahi lifestyle. If your illiterate and can't even read bani you need to take this intermediate step first and become literate.

Take on physical fitness and shastar training miri piri lifestyle is cumpulsory its not all about rensbhais and listening to akhand paths.

There needs to be a better criteria from panj pyarey.

According to that philosophy no-one would be selected ...taking Amrit is just the first step I was just talking about how older sikhs did things ...of course the ideal is you know your banis and can read but then what are you going to do about those poor souls who want to become Guruwaley although their janam may mean they never had the opportunity to read, write or even pray ? Yes I'm talking about the untouchables and the 'lower castes' they aren't even allowed to hear their granths being read . It is about the soul being ready the body is secondary ...

I mean sakhi from Guru Gobind Singh ji's time ...it is the time of war and everyone is coming to join Guru ji's forces even the call was answered by a udasi , Kirpal Das was Udasi Mahant and leader of the udasi sect all his colleagues ran when the call came to arm and fight but he was the only one who came to Guru ji. When he offered himself to Guru ji the Singhs in darbar started laughing because this guy was fat had only a loin cloth as clothing , a kirpan and a club as weapons , he had not been trained in shastar vidhyiya he was a scholar sadhu but he still came because Guru ji called. Guru put a stop to the laughter by saying that Kirpal Das would fight as he was so resolute in fighting for Guru ji and the Khalsa panth. In The battle of Bhangani Kirpal Das went up against Hayat Khan a skilled pathan soldier who deserted Guru ji despite his inexperience he cries 'sat sri akal! ' and engaged Hayat , the pathan attacked with a kirpan blow but Kirpal Das defended hiself with his club then countered with a crushing blow to the skull finishing him. This written of in Bachitar Natak .

Sanjog and Kirpa is what decides an abhilakees time for initiation everyone has their time ... sometimes as infants or children (your point would mean then they wouldn't even get choola) sometimes as adults , sometimes they have to wait of their life partner . My Nani waited nearly her whole life for Nana ji to be ready but in the meantime she still did her bhagti ... and had partak darshan of Guru ji BEFORE amrit . Nani ji has been gone from this world a long while now but her words were to us to always do work /action as beauty fades, power comes and goes but naam is the only constant.(sada rehnda) . I know you got a bit impatient with what I said but it kind of proved what I said but also if listening to full paat of Guru ji can removed deadly cancer from a nastik imagine how transformative it would be to those who are open to it...

  7. you said if someone 'truely' wants to give their head for the panth. i tottaly agree with this, the problem i have is that we cant tell if someone 'truely' wants to give their head for the panth or if their taking amrit for the wrong reasons, this is why we need a regulation system, the regulation system would also include taking everyones names and details down who takes amrit and keeping a record so they can be called back to be checked on to see how they are doing, we need to get organised man xD , and as for bhai jugraj singh, hes an exeption, even he proberbly wished he learn the basics such as punjabi and gurmukhi before he took amrit, im sure he mentioned that in one of his videos xD but, it was just gurus hukam that he took amrit then and we should be glad he did lol ! aha

In Bhai Randhir SIngh ji's book Jail chitian he explain that abilakees for amrit sachar were expected to sit through whole Akhand paat ji and then get interviewed by Panj piare, who were made up of High avasta/kamai vale rehitvan Gursikh if the abilakees were deemed to be wanting they were refused . I have undergone through that interview process(minus the akhand paat as was during reshanbhai) twice once when a little girl and later on when I had again with my children.

If you had mischief-makers in that situation would they sit day and night in darbar for three days just to have Amrit interview only I think not . They would get impatient angry etc proving they are not ready. Being illerate was never a barrier to becoming Khalsa as you can learn bani by listening and also studying gurmukhi that how early sikhs came from diverse backgrounds to Sikhi.

  8. How will it be practical for anyone to vet and licence the select few from millions of Sikhs ? Since we all live in mixed secular societies, the only right for Sikhs should be to carry a blunt and small mock kirpan that cannot hurt anyone. We are not living in medieval times.

The Khalsa can and will vet themselves we don't need jokers like you suggesting we carry toys ... we are the khalsa and we are here to save the oppressed and establish the raj of sach here on this Earth. Sorry your family member got scared, maybe he was scared because he was the cause of the accident ? I don't know, that little story doesn't prove anything the world is made up of Individuals maybe that Sikh guy was having a superbad day .

if you don't believe we are living in the medieval ages explain why messed-up stuff like this happens

  9. Jkv ji,

Can you tell me why are you staying with Meat eating & Alcoholic in-laws ?

They live thousands of miles away in Brasil , they have their culture I have mine, But obviously when they visit my kids have to deal with differences in outlook and my kids though young seem more balanced than you.

Let me guess - Money !

    what is your problem ?

Why are you against washing, ironing & cleaning ?

I'm not , what I am against is making kids who have to rely on others to do something they can do perfectly well themselves KHALSA IS SUPPOSED TO BE SELF-RELIANT , my three boys can do cooking, laundry ironing etc etc so they can even ease up people's lives when they stay as visitors i.e. they can do sewa for others , my daughter also does her age-appropriate share . I looked after my family when I was unmarried on top of school while my Mum and Dad worked hard to put roti on the table that included all the cooking cleaning, washing clothes, ironing and even making sure my kid brothers and sister had a packed lunch made fresh every morning I am not scared of work.

What I find deplorable in SIkhs is that they don't teach their Male children to be self-reliant in terms of feeding, cleaning and cooking , what are they going to do away from home rely on dhabba, restaurant food or they expect to get a girl to be his cook, washerwoman etc. I mean my grandfather's generation knows how to do that stuff and will do it when it is needed, (My Dad looked after four of us kids (all under seven) for three months when my Mum was in hospital) but the new generation are pampered beyond words they believe that this is something beneath them and that is wrong .

My daughter will be able to do all that and also learn how to fix electrics , do painting and decorating, garderening, growing fruit and veg just like her brothers and just like I can

Let me guess - You are not Indian !

If you mean I am in a foreign country sure I am in Waheguru's universe where each and every person answers for themselves if you mean my blood then you are wrong I am pure punjabi whatever that means. Why, do non- Indians not do housework ????

Why are you so stressed ?

I found your throwaway statements so unbecoming of a Gursikh ... I'm not stressed Waheguru's got my back

Do you believe in Caste System ?

Course Not I follow my Guru not some moorakh's idea of how to subjugate the majority to benefit a minority , how could you as a thinking human believe learning about Waheguru should be restricted and that Waheguru could withhold kirpa on you because of the label a human put to you?

Don't worry it's not Virdi or Punjabi.... I am the type of person that tries to do naam di keti.....for my family's sukh

  10. People are amazed when they are taught Sikhi by me when talking one on one with them. They never have the chance to learn from school etc. So parchar is needed. American gurdwaras are not doing it because committees have different meaningless agendas but parchar should be #1 up there. So that's the source of that problem. Back on topic, our own girls need to get education in Sikhi because many are not interested because in their early ages they weren' t taught right and given too much freedom and are now ending up taking alcohol, drugs, and etc.... I mean if I look at UK past these years, I to myself question why aren't UK Sikhs teaching those girls who came to gurdwara but then get targeted by Muslims in clubs etc... Gurdwaras need to change PERIOD. It needs to focus on the youth and elder too and parchar should be added. Sikh youth need to change the status quo of gurdwaras. We shouldn't be scared of the elder Sikhs who are absolutely leaving a mess for the next generation.

sounds like my childhood , just walking around doing my thing with quickfire questions from all sides , it was challenging but I was lucky I was switched on to Sikhi and also other Dharams so I enjoyed smiling and sharing Sikhi and Guru ji with the different Non-sikh folks , they were always so grateful 'you're the first sikh girl to answer my questions they usually ignore me or say I don't know' I would apologise for the lapse and offer to answer what I could and to be straight when I didn't know (rarely). Religious education classes the other kids would ask me questions or to explain more about other faiths we were studying instead of the teacher cos He just had a script to follow. People really WANT to know us and what makes us tick.

I agree our girls are not invested in , in terms of sikhi, punjabi literature, languages, gatka, gurbani ucharan anything ....why?

Because HIndu dowry system devalues our girls , Guru Gobind Singh ji said to us, He who asks for dowry is not my Sikh. Pity greed is highermost in people's mind than Guru's bachan:' jab eh gahe bipraan ki reet , ma na karoon in ki partit.'

so the girl's family only concentrate on their boys and nuturing their sikhi because 'she's gonna get married and nobody wants to have amritdhari DIL it's no point teaching her this stuff, she'll only make life harder for herself in her in-laws'

I have had friends who are amritdhari and been told off for doing their bania by their in-laws ...why are people so thick? If your DIL is dharmic your grandkids will be Sikhs and also do their bania and have true faith in Guru ji.

As the gurudwarey are full of fools trying to increase their own image rather than serving the sangat's needs we need to show our younger brothers and sisters the online resources , there is now so much english content teaching itihas, doing katha, teaching gurmukhi, even discussing raag kirtan terminology on youtube and other websites. If the parents wont do it we can ...

  11. Yeha, its all politics. It is good raising awareness but those people working in WH and Pentagon know what Sikhi is. There is no targeting for American public for what Sikhi is all about. We do have Sikh Coalition and SALDEF but the major perspective view on a turban is still the same as from post 9/11 era. Even the SIkh gurdwara shooting that took place in Oak Creek had a little change......

Maybe we all need to do parchaar of what we are and why we are all the places we go, if someone asks us questions . It can be easier if we start using the pamphlets produced by 'Basics of Sikhi' team here in UK (check out their channel on youtube ) they even have translated it to French, Spanish, Brasilian Portuguese and other languages just download print off the double sided, three fold colourful leaflets. They even did one for 30th anniversary of 1984

  12. Thanks virji for getting me aware of such an important thing that I forgotten

An ex3HO SIkh, Gursant Singh has been trying to alert people for ages about the beadbhi that happens onsite at the Espanola Gurudwara and the fact that Sikhnet follows 3HO policies but tries to get donations from bhole Gursikhs and Sangat on their site. I mean they have a moderator that prescreens/approves any entry on the discussion forums, so there is no real open spontaneous discussion.

Yogi Bhajan was not a very good human being(stories of gun running, drugs smuggling and sexual assaults all over internet) and some even suspect he was linked with govt RSS types . While he has created his own personality cult we should try to be sympathetic to those who joined thinking they would find true sikhi and give them help to find the real message of Gurbani

  13. What a SIKH he would be, who will change himself for a girl :)

He who don't even care about the Guruji's will, for a sake of a girl can cut his hair, I don't think he himself is worthy of being KHALSA.

I have seen many punjabi families who are so busy in Show-offs that they don't even care to make their children learn about sikhi, They themselves are so busy with MAYA that they make their children like them and then they complain about things getting wrong with the Youth.

I am not sure but my heart says that sikhi will raise to heights in coming years :) coz this religion is based on truth and practical knowledge.

Depends if Girl kehndi hai singh sajo , amrit shakia? then you would kiss that girl's feet for recognising the truth ...Guru ji is everything

You're right any Man who throws away his Sikh kaum for the temporary love/lust of a girl is lost to the world ... is janaam juhe ch haria.

  14. Many Sikh guys and girls don't have the courage and bravery you do to go through the pressure and bullying these days. They simply feel outcasted in society. Back on the topic, when have you ever heard a Sikh girl give good compliments to a Sikh guy for wearing a dastaar.....Rarely Never................

I am female wear a dastaar and I have been known to openly admire strangers' dastaars no matter what culture , funny story I used to see a young African lady every morning on my bus to work when I was 17 man she has such a pristine dastaar my heart would lift when I would see her. Finally after a couple of months I sat next to her and got up the courage to ask her ...'hi am Jasbir I was wondering if you are also a Sikh ? she looked a bit surprised then replied 'sorry no I am African' 'that's OK I just wanted to tell you I think your turban is always beautiful and I admire it' thankfully by that time it was my stop so the crazy sikh girl could make an elegant exit by flashing her a smile and stepping out ....

I openly admire my sons' hair and dastaars, discuss different looks, techniques and encourage them to love every part of themselves as Guru's gift, they have messy days but that's OK at least they are still in there trying to improve and find their style. Even Isher has days when she'll decide to wear a dastaar for the day and that's cool ...she has to have it exactly like the ones she sees online i.e. a dumalla. It's not a push thing she's free to choose.

It is easier now to be accepted cos more people know about sikhism as it is more visible in the media and our own panthic efforts so I don't agree with that sentiment you need to be more brave now than then.

  15. Correct. The key is set a good environment for your kids. Sikh youth today need to feel they are acceptable in society especially when Sikhs are spread out all over the world in such small populations and some big there can be problems for them to grow up having to be in a not so good society. Sikh camps do help but its 1 week only. After that one week, whats the use if the Sikh parents don't practice Sikhi or don't care. You get what I'm saying. Your very correct on setting up a all around environment at home. Sikh at very young age should be put into Sikh studies for their own benefit in their future. Make them strong as steel because they will have to overcome tough obstacles later in life.

Now it all depends on your family. I'd say 50% of Sikh families don't care about doing paat or keeping kesh/dastaar. Now how does that affect the other 50%. In this case, Sikh girls who are brought up with a dad who just keeps dastaar and kesh but doesn't practice Sikhi and has a mom who has cut hair whats the chance of her keeping hair... 25% (I'm just estimating). The chances would be very low. Especially today Sikh girls who keep hair on social media are always listening to gandh music and posting guy models etc... You see it makes them change their look prospectively at Sikh guys. Sikh elders don't understand this. In the future there will be a very uneven ratio of girls to guys leading to more guys getting haircuts because they can't deal with getting a girl. It is actually happening right now as we speak.

No! make them accepted at home they will feel self-acceptance then and it won't matter what happens outside, I used to be bullied by boys and girls physically in gangs at junior school after having to walk alone past the gangs of skinheads that used to hang around the council estate I lived on and being jeered and sworn at even spat at . But instead of crumpling and giving in I kicked back against it all, my Perfect Guru didn't make a mistake in making me a sikh . That is the steel of Khanda inside ...

  16. Yes, Sikh girls are now ashamed of a Sikh man with with turban. The solution is, teach them about religion right from the childhood and don't give them too much freedom. If you give women too much freedom they will eventually get corrupted.

wrong ! show your daughters brothers in their own household with sikhi saroop who are caring, helpful to others, hardworking, fun-loving who keep Guru's rehit and I guarantee 100 % she will want to marry a gursikh not a kesh dhari but Khalsa .

My 6 year old informed me in no uncertain terms' i am going to marry an indian' ( as we live in mixed neighbourhood) I asked her what she meant and she pointed at her teenage brothers 'like my brothers with turbans who do waheguru waheguru'. It's not about control its about opening their eyes to how others live . she doesn't want to marry someone who eats meat (that's killing animals mum) or drinks (my in-laws do both) she doesn't want to be like the ladies in the burqas (her school friends mums) she has told 'I'm going to wear a big keshki and have a big kirpan and fight baddies when I grow up ' Her first career choice was to be a power ranger for the same reason (only ever saw the program once in her whole life)

She loves gurbani and will not sleep without I have do it down the phone if I am away at the set time, its about developing preet for Sikhi from when both sexes are babies and keeping that a part of their routine and life.

  17. you said it right.

Amritdhari guys specially in India want to marry sehajdahri girls.

You will see Singhs in Dumalla with wives full with make up and no chunni on their heads.

    It goes both ways.

Well it just goes to show that he hasn't bothered paying attention to rehit of amrit if she is a mem then his amrit is null and void they both have do pesh and take amrit together . That's why amritdhari girls pick an amritdhari guy because they pay attention unlike these bheki singhs

  18. Changing face of Sikh Society

Who is a real Sikh (Singh and kaur) ?

ONLY KHALSA CAN CLAIM IT AS THEY ARE DOING AS GURU REQUESTS

To Whom should we call Sikh NOW?

ANY1 WHO HAS TAKEN AMRIT AND THOSE WHO FOLLOW SIKH REHIT MARYADA MINIMUM

Why Sikh girls want clean shaven to marry?

BECAUSE WHILE OUR FATHERS AND MOTHERS RAN AFTER NOTES TO SETUP THEIR HOMES IN FOREIGN LANDS ALSO IN INDIA. THEY FORGET THEIR DUTY AS PARENTS IN TERMS OF THE SEWA GURU JI HAS GIVEN THEM BY MAKING THEM PARENTS ...TO SHOW THE NARROW PATH THROUGH THIS BOOBYTRAPPED WORLD , TO HELP US LEARN ABOUT SIKHI, TO JOIN US TO GURU JI'S CHARAN AND TO LOVE KHALSA SAROOP. OUR MATAS WATCH BOLLYWOOD MOVIES WITH THEIR CLEAN-SHAVEN HEROES AND THE EFFECT IS STARTED ON YOUNG MINDS, THE BOYS SAY WOW I CAN'T GET A GIRL IF I LOOK LIKE DADDY JI WITH HIS PAGH AND LITTLE KAUR SAYS OOH PEOPLE WILL SAY I'M SO LUCKY IF I GET A HANDSOME GUY LIKE SO AND SO FILMSTAR.

Wha'ts wrong with the Singh of GURU ?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING EVERYTHING'S RIGHT YET I WILL SAY A LOT OF SINGHS DON'T REALISE THAT YOU ARE NOT MEANT TO CURSE OUT, ABUSE, HIT OR GENERALLLY BROWBEAT YOUR WIVES THIS IS YOUR GURU'S ORDERS. YOU ARE NOT MORE SPECIAL THAN HER, YOU ARE BOTH KHALSA AND YOU BOTH HAVE TO SHOW MASTERY OF THE ARTS : LANGUAGES, GURBANI, MUSIC (RAAG), SHASTER VIDIYA, HORSERIDING , NAAM

Why we are making 12th guru ?

i DON'T UNDERSTAND THERE IS ONLY ONE GURU , ALWAYS HAS BEEN , ALWAYS WILL BE - AKAL PURAKH KI BANI ENSHRINED NOW IN SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB AND THUS OUR FOREVER GURU

Are Sikh lost trust in them>

NO THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN WHAT BEING A SIKH IS AND LISTEN TO WRONG PARCHAR BY MISCHEVIOUS INTELLECTUALS WITH THEIR OWN AGENDAS

Why Newly Singh don't wanna live in Punjab ?

INDIAN GOVT HAS MADE IT HARD TO KEEP PARCHAAR UP BUT THERE ARE PEOPLE HAVING AMRIT AND STAYING IN INDIA.SAD TRUTH IS THERE ARE NOT THAT MANY OPPORTUNITIES IN PUNJAB , SO MANY GO ABROAD TO FIND WORK TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES

Why they always go out of india to settle ?

roti KAMAUN VASTE SOMETIMES KARNA PAINDA , SOMETIMES THEY TAKE THEIR KIDS OUT SO THEY CAN GROW UP PROPER KHALSA WITHOUT BEING KILLED OR JAILED FOR IT

What makes singh to cut their hairs ?

SOMETIMES FEAR OF STANDING OUT, SOMETIMES CONFUSION DUE TO CONFLICTING INFORMATION ABOUT SIKHI, FEELING THAT HERO LOOK IS WHAT WILL GET THE GIRL BUT IT'S WRONG

Are Sikh girl ashame of Singh's Appearance ?

iF THEY KNOW TRUE ITIHAS OF GURUS AND KAUM THEY WOULD NEVER TURN THEIR BACK ON SIKHI SAROOP, TRUTH IS THEY DON'T KNOW AND THAT IT OUR MISTAKE AS A PANTH , WE SHOULD PROVIDE FREE EDUCATION FOR KAURS AND SPONSOR THEIR DHARMIC DEVELOPMENT MAKE THEM INTO GRANTHI, KIRTANIYA , KATHAVACHAK, PARCHAARIKS, TEACHERS, DOCTORS, SO THEY CAN MAKE THE KAUM STRONG FROM THE ROOTS. bECAUSE WE IGNORED THAT ROLE THEY PLAY IN THE PANTH OUT PANTH HAS BECOME WEAK.

  19. The main problem is disbelief in Sri Guru Granth Sahib jeeo.

People don't read, contemplate & act according to Gurbani.

That's why there is no Shanti (peace) & Anand (bliss).

As for marriage "key to happy married life - low maintenance obedient wife"

Get a God fearing Indian girl from a financially lower background.

Acd, Bcd, Ccd's don't meet the minimum requirement of Mrs ie

    W - washing

    I - ironing

    F - food

    E - entertainment

    P.S - Acd ( American confused desi )

    Bcd ( British " " )

    Ccd ( Canadian " " )

How can you be low like that ?

You should be saying I want a singhni who will give my future family strong faith in Guru ji, who is strong in her abhihaas , is intelligent, have a warrior spirit, can read Guru ji and teach children the same; NOT provide me with housemaid service and 'entertain' me jeeez . SIngh ho ke ehni neech soch and you wonder whats up. Try learning to cook and clean and provide your own entertainment THEN look out wards . Become a worthy husband PRIOR to looking for that wife by becoming a true khalsa and having an uchi suchi jiwan.

Guys look for that special SInghni with the Guru's eyes not your human eyes and Ladies look and see Guru ji da ladla Khalsa be discerning all of you - select someone who respects Guru ji and Sikhi if she's looking for a clean-shaven or trim beard sikh (fitt jaun da) or he 's looking for removal of hair, dastaar or even 5 kakkars in singhni (ditto) just do fateh and walk away quickly in the opposite direction don't even look back. Don't be pressurised by your folks into accepting less than a gursikh .

BTW getting a girl from India is no guarantee of getting a singhni she may be even more brainwashed into hating sikhi saroop by Bollywood than girls from Uk USA or Canada; If you want to make sure your sisters are happy in life stop the Bollywood films and serials that the older bibian watch 24/7 and get them to keep sangat at sikh camps instead and keep saroop and rehit of Guru Gobind Singh ji yourselves so that they feel at ease with look and the lifestyle.

I was discussing marriage and caste system with another bhaine ji on another forum this is my view of what we should think of when considering marriage :

Marriage is about life's mission which is to join with Akal Purakh and become Jiwan Mukht, it is sad that now this divine soul's mission has been forgotten and all people can talk about is things which have more to do with MOH , Ahankar, Kaam and LObh . You are one sikh when you are unmarried but marrying gives you lifelong Sangat (Khalsa maths formulae: 1 is Sikh, 2 is Sangat, 5 is Guru) and you can support each other in this most vital of tasks, you live your lives, do your grisht duties, kirt di kamai, have kids but in the understanding that they are a special sewa assigned to you not belongings . Teach them about the world , give them an idea of Sikh Itihas, get them Gurmukhi tution if you can't teach them, make opportunities to join sangat in Gurudwara, play kirtan in the home, do nam jap from the get go and do nitnem banis as a family group . Sure go out, have fun, do sports etc but become whole people.
